Dell U2713HM 27" 2560x1440p LED Monitor $484 After PM @ Dell Small Business YMMV

65535 Attachment(s)
This deal is YMMV since it involves a price match but most who have tried have been successful at getting offered at least a 25% discount making the U2713HM $599. What makes the deal HOT though is that you can use the $400/$75 Dell eGift card promo on top of the price match and get the monitor for as little as $484 + tax.

Here is where the deal starts:

http://slickdeals.net/f/5639774-New-Dell-eGift-Cards-with-Promo-Bonus-300-50-Bonus-400-75-Bonus-500-90-Bonus?

Purchase a $400 Dell eGift card and receive a $75 GC bonus. You will receive both GC's within a few minutes to a few hours and you can use them together on the order for the U2713HM.

The next step is where the YMMV lies:

http://accessories.ap.dell.com/sn...redirect=1

Dell Australia is currently offering a 30% discount on the U2713HM monitor making it $559. The fact that this is Dell Australia with different pricing and promotions than Dell US is where the YMMV comes in, however several members at HardForum including myself have already done this deal and have been able to get a Dell Small Business sales rep to match with a 25-30% discount.

http://hardforum.com/showthread.p...05&page=26

You now just need to call Dell Small Business at 1-877-220-3355 and state "order monitor" at the prompt to get transferred to the sales department and request a price match to Dell Australia for $559. Keep in mind that only a few of us have been able to get the full 30% discount but that most seem to get offered the 25% off ($599) with only one or two attempts at calling in. Do NOT try to do this over Live Chat as you will not have the same success.

UPDATE:

Dell has changed the price on Dell Australia back to $799 now but Amazon has just matched the $559 price!

i am deliberating on this. do you any idea on U2711 vs. U2713? which one is more sought after and a better one specs wise

Depends on your uses but for the average consumer the newer U2713HM with a lesser AG coating is the best choice. The only benefit to the U2711 is the wide gamut and if you don't know what that is you probably don't need it.

XealO 12-04-2012 11:40 AM

Why not get the $500 gift card gift card to get the $90 e gift promo?

Edit: Nvm, obviously $31 of the promo would go to waste.

XealO 12-04-2012 11:47 AM

Ok I'm going to try this.

Cookie21 12-04-2012 12:01 PM

burningrave101 12-04-2012 01:10 PM

So how goes the attempts to get this deal? Success or fail?

steveotron 12-04-2012 01:13 PM

The price that Dell US (Small Business) has been offering is $599, which is what I got on my first try, and it's what has been quoted on the various hardware forums. $599+tax - $590 in gift cards is a pretty good deal.

it requires a lot of effort plus blocking the money in Dell GC if it doesn't flies .. good risk

sheltem 12-04-2012 01:15 PM

I'm going to give this a try when my physical Dell gift cards come in. $700 Dell GCs for $450 with AMEX :)

Most should have no problem getting the deal after one or two attempts, it's only a matter of how big of discount you come away with. Either way you're basically guaranteed to get a better deal than the recent Front Page deal for this monitor at Amazon which was $650:

mZimm 12-04-2012 01:31 PM

If I knew I could get this for <$500 I'd give it a shot, but I'm just not willing to buy that much in Dell GC without knowing. Good deal, TU.

Call Dell Small Business and have the rep give you a price quote with the price match. Once you get the price match to fly you should be able to lock it in and then buy the Dell GC's and call back to place the order.

percentage isn't really what matters here though. I live in NJ so tax is 7% - total after PM = $598.13. So I'll pay $508.13 OOP instead of $523.13 OOP. If your tax is 3% or less, then go with the $400+$75. Otherwise, unless I am missing something, I'd go with the $500+$90.

Gift cards get applied after tax though so it won't have any effect on the amount of tax you pay.

Tonggi 12-04-2012 02:07 PM

crap so tempting. I always wanted this resolution monitor. The way things are looking they will just get cheaper and cheaper. Maybe next year. :(

According to gift card rules on first link you can only use 500 in gift cards per transaction. Go with the 400 plus one

Sounds like a great deal! Good find...i've bought too much lately and no more room on my desk for a monitor...but so tempting!

Were you dealing with folks from India or US? Seems like the first fella I talked to from India could not help.

They only wanted to go to $575 for me.

OMFG, i will keep you guys posted once I got my quote, I think I am almost there

OP, i owe you a rep!

Should I buy the $500 gift card if I got it for 579?

Definitely the U2713HM and if you want a dual setup grab another one down the road when you have the money.

I believe that rule just limits you to spending $500 on the gift card purchase itself, per transaction. From the wiki it states you can use more than $500 on an order.

As long as you got a reference number or something for the quote then you should be able to call back tonight and have a different rep place the order for you.

This is a great deal. I wish I didn't have this Crossover (south korean knockoff, same panel but lower grade) sitting in front of me. Especially considering I didn't pay *that* much less for it.

The lack of bleeding edges and a warranty alone make this a steal.

jluva 12-04-2012 04:16 PM

Best I could get them to do for me is 25% off or $599 for the U2713HM because "it's new". After taxes, still came out to $642. I had already placed an order with Costco for the same screen and for the $20 difference (statement credit w/Costco), I think I'll stick w/ Costco for the ease of return if necessary.

MagicBlueMan 12-04-2012 04:18 PM

Can everyone who got this give us either the name of their salesperson or their quote number or both? It might make it easier when I call.

It's stupid easy, literally will probably only take you one call. She instantly offered the $599 price and sighed when I mentioned that model.

this works for the amex deal rt? 599+tax easily hits the spend threshold, just want to see that dell small business qualifies too.

I was able to duplicate. got a quote, awaiting GC. :woot: thanks OP, going to cancel costco order.

question, would you pay $100 more for U2711? I will be doing some light photo editing.

You're forgetting the extra $75 from the Dell eGift card promo that goes along with the price match. 25% off plus the gift card applied to the order nets the U2713HM for $524 + tax.

How do you get them to go below $599? Tried 3 times today so far. Bad luck?

LoudmouthGTO 12-04-2012 05:30 PM

How long is it taking you guys to get your gift cards? I will post the details later of how I got the $559 if the order goes threw when the gift cards come. I just have the girls extension, so hopefully she will be there.

I got the $559 price yesterday before a lot of people got in on this and I had to press the rep to go back to her manager two or three times to get it so $599 may be the lowest the managers will approve at this point.

$599 - $75 GC = $524 is still a hot deal .

I see. Gift card time. Thanks! Usually I avoid these call in type deals but it seems I can save over $100 Costco's price. I'm in!

I am wondering the same. Will the phone order post the same as an online order? The offer is for "spend a total of $599 or more online at dell.com". Chances are AmEx won't be able to tell online vs. by phone, but am I willing to risk it?

The best would be to order $600+ of physical gift cards online, but by the time they arrive, the offer will most likely be gone...

iiibobiii 12-04-2012 06:06 PM

this is a really HOT deal. my total for costco was $700 after tax and environmental fee. grand total for one of these is $510.

tam421602 12-04-2012 06:37 PM

no luck at all....
Tried calling twice, and first time the rep told me 749 is the best they can do...
then called again,
and this time they finally offered me 599... i dont think they are willing to go below that.
Gonna pay with my Dell gift card with the last promotion tomorrow :)

Kurtois 12-04-2012 06:41 PM

Can anyone verify the number of digits in their quote number?

There are nine digits in my quote.

The guy gave it to me so fast, I just wanted to double check.

Comenius 12-04-2012 06:45 PM

Amazing! Just called in and got a quote for $556.90 plus tax emailed to me, valid for 24 hours.

Going to order as soon as my Dell gift cards come from last week's Amex promotion. They shipped yesterday so hopefully they'll get here tomorrow.

Total with tax and some random $8 state environmental fee is $605.85, minus $150 from the Amex promotion I used to get the gift cards, minus $50 from the Dell 10% coupon I used when I got the gift cards, for a total price of $405.85!

Slick!

burningrave101 12-04-2012 06:51 PM

The people who are stuck with Korean "pixel perfect" monitors without warranty that they paid $500 for. :lmao:

SnakeEyes1337 12-04-2012 07:05 PM

Have been a long time lurker on the site, but had to join to say I got in on this deal @ $559.

Called the first time and they said the best they could do was $75 then they came back saying $599. When the girl said what is 30 bucks when we are taking off $200, I was rolling my eyes thinking its 40 bucks:lmao:.

I called again and the second person got it for me @ $559.

If you don't receive the gift card shortly after placing the order it might be because you are a first time buyer of gift cards from dell. I bought the gift cards and 3 hrs later it said that since it was my first time I needed to confirm.

"Thank you for purchasing a Dell eGift Card! For cardholder security and protection, we require additional verification of credit card information on first-time purchases.

To release the order and deliver your gift, please call our eGift Card Support Line at 888-244-1272. Our hours of operation are from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM EST, seven days a week. For your convenience and protection, we will return the order if we do not hear from you."

It ended up they wanted to know the phone number on the back of the card. Then I got an email with the gift cards. Hope this helps someone wondering where their gift cards are.

kennyduc83 12-04-2012 07:09 PM

I was replying to the guy making fun of the people who bought the Korean off-brand monitors. I paid $289 for the Korean monitor, not the Dell.

dives4141 12-05-2012 08:26 AM

Got it for $600, minus the $75 promotional for a total of $525 before tax. Not to bad for an awesome monitor that doesn't go on sale often. Dell was a bit of a pain, first offering $659 before having to go back to the manager a few times. The rep even claimed they don't price match - yeah sure you don't.

peppermint 12-05-2012 08:38 AM

thanks

bosskid30 12-05-2012 08:45 AM

I was able to get 597.25 with free 2nd day shipping on my first call this morning. Comes out to $560 after tax and gift cards. Really happy with the deal. Thanks OP!

plympton 12-05-2012 08:53 AM

What a hassle.. the rep knew about the Australian snafu, and said, "Order if from there if you want", when I mentioned Costco's $650, he readily went from $799 -> $650, but then droned one about "How many do you want?", "Credit or preferred account?"... and back.. and forth.

Hell, if you can't even beat Costco, why bother? They have much better policies than this PITA.

sbiza 12-05-2012 09:07 AM

So does it have to be Dell Small Business or will home do it also? I ask only because I can get extra 10% off for epp if home.

Thanks
Shaun Biza

Comenius 12-05-2012 09:41 AM

Seems like it only works for Small Business, but YMMV.

You should hang up and try again. It's very easy to get them to $599 at minimum. Brother's done 2 calls and both $599. Still trying...

Anyone have a quote number they want to share (after ordering it, it should be OK to share the info). If you don't want to post it, please PM me. Thx!

What's the fastest script? He kept asking too many questions. I presume I can't just say, "Match it @ $599".

In fact that's what you say, please match Dell Aus for 559. He also tried using the good old "matching friend's price".

Elow 12-05-2012 09:52 AM

I could use a quote also if it's possible.

The quote in the email, does it allow you to order online? Or do you need to call in to place the order?
Could get ultra slick with additional 5% discover cashback at small business.

Comenius 12-05-2012 10:19 AM

You can definitely use the quote to order online.

Comenius 12-05-2012 10:58 AM

Also, FWIW, I was able to get the lower price by just saying I wanted the price I saw online. I didn't mention the Australia site.

Won't they ask where you saw that price? Can you elaborate more on that?

utnuc 12-05-2012 11:14 AM

I have tried 3 times via online chat without success to PM the $559. Also asked on my last session to PM Costco $650 and they said they could not PM Costco at this time.

Yeah, I thought they would ask, but strangely the rep I spoke with didn't. Very YMMV of course. The rep seemed to know exactly what was going on and just asked to put me on hold while he confirmed the discounted price with his supervisor. The whole thing took less than 10 minutes. I was surprised how easy it was, as I know that's not the experience that everyone else has been getting.

I think you may have to call the Small Business number from the first post as opposed to doing an online chat. That's what I did to get the discount.

Kurtois 12-05-2012 11:19 AM

They pushed me up to 625.

Gave Dell chat a go. To save time, tell them the price you want $559 with link to site, I also gave all of my contact information and requested an email quote. Will post back if I get it.

OP Thanks for your effort

Well, that works, just can't seem to pay with a gift card that way - there's only
Dell Business Credit, QuickLease, Credit/Debit Card, PayPal, Line of Credit, and Finance your order through lease terms

Bummer. Might have to actually TALK to someone to do this.. and the order looks like it gets attached to my company account in some way. Hmm...

XealO 12-05-2012 11:47 AM

Guys. Just call them. Its easy. The first rep I got knew exactly what was going on. I said "I would like a price match online" to which she replied "You saw it on Dell Australia correct?". So I wasn't able to get the 30% but I was able to get the 25%. Its easy. The chat is useless.

LK0123 12-05-2012 12:01 PM

Called and mentioned a lower price on another Dell page and she immediately asked about Dell Australia... I gave her my customer number, she put me on hold for a few minutes, came back and said they could not do $559 but she could offer $599. I requested a quote and she happily sent it to my email.

This way I can order through the website and hopefully get my AmEx cashback as well as click-through cashback.

LoneStar6 12-05-2012 12:02 PM

Also got stonewalled on 2 separate calls on trying to get the $599 deal. I guess some of you guys are just getting lucky on randomly landing at the right rep. Going to give for now as I don't feel like calling them over and over and over again.

utnuc 12-05-2012 12:07 PM

I got the $559 with a call! fantastic slickdeal. After tax total $611.80. With discounts: $611.80 - $90 - ($500 x 10% on ShopDiscover) = $471.80 after tax. Not shabby. Not 100% sure that I get the 10% cashback on the purchase of a giftcard.

iiibobiii 12-05-2012 12:40 PM

we might get 5% from discover, at least that's what I am hoping for.

You won't, cashback doesn't work on gift cards and the Dell eGift cards are purchased through Cashstar and not Dell.

dives4141 12-05-2012 12:48 PM

Again got it for the $599. One thing that helped was saying 'a friend got the 599 price'. I also specifically told them about Australia and costco. They also kept trying to get me to open a business line of credit which I refused.

johnbegone 12-05-2012 12:53 PM

I was able to get the PM to $599. Had them email me the quote. They quoted $25 for shipping. Has everyone been paying shipping or should that be free?

Got free shipping. Called the standard line, not small business one. Didn't go for the extended warranty.

I got shot down - by wifey (not dell) :(

ohnomyhelmet 12-05-2012 01:53 PM

Had to register to talk about this slickdeal.

As far as the quote numbers, they will not give you one with the marked down price. At least the guy that I talked to wouldn't.

I called and got someone to price match the $559 price but I had to call the eGiftcard line in order to confirm my giftcard purchases. After dealing with that for over and an hour, I called the sales guy back and proceeded with the purchase.

Overall, it took almost 3 hours of calling Dell in order to get two monitors for $559.00 with free shipping. After he sent me the confirmation emails, he asked me where I learned about this deal. I told him a "friend" told me about it.

Good luck to everyone with this. They're starting to catch on.

thaidavid 12-05-2012 02:05 PM

The number doesnt work.. Is there a new number we can call?

hack2nite 12-05-2012 02:10 PM

roedhii 12-05-2012 02:14 PM

Finally got PM for $559+tax with free ground shipping. Had to call twice and speak to different agent.

Question for OP, I still don't get the math in your OP. How did you get $484+tax for this monitor? 30% off is $559.

But hey, I'm not complaining for this price, still a good deal. Thanks, OP !!!:D

You forgot to do the Dell gift card promotion detailed in the first part of the post. You purchase a $400 eGift card and get a $75 promo GC free. You then use both on your order for the price matched U2713HM and save another $75.

thaidavid 12-05-2012 02:36 PM

No go.. blah. Anyone else have any luck?

hack2nite 12-05-2012 02:52 PM

Ok I called got shot down and then told him that is not right that dell offers a cheaper price to other countries for a new product. He said ok hold on let me call my supervisor..... ok sir we are going to make an exception for you... let me have your name and phone..... so i told him i was paying with giftgard and was waiting for code and he said ok and sent me a test email with quote but price was higher 750 then told me that when im ready to pay that he will get the additional discount needed for the pricematch and that it would be $559.99 as the other dell site but that i had to call him at his extention or email him back and that if i would call again that i would not get this price from other rep because it was already escalated to a supervisor. Oh and FREE shipping. So i havent bought the gift cards just yet. should i do it in know its a good deal but is it really worth the extra $300.00 to get this monitor vs the 1080 monitor for sale in the $200.00 range ?

LoudmouthGTO 12-05-2012 03:06 PM

Called in today after I received my gift cards and my quote yesterday for $559. I talked to the same girl that quoted me the $559 price yesterday. Today she told me that she could not do it. I talked to her manager and she stated that the order will be cancelled if it was put in for $559 and that Dell Australia will not be honoring the price either. I feel like it was total bullshit that they quoted me $559, but they said $599 was the lowest they could go without it getting cancelled and all the orders in the system for that price will be cancelled. Real shady either way.

AAAhhhh....i got it....dang it I didn't ask about this promo. I only asked them to PM to $559+tax. I bought $500 eGC and got $90 promo, then used these to pay and the rest on my CC.

Just got off the phone for $597.25 + tax w/ 2 day shipping on my first try. The online chats all said they could not price match and some even tried to push Dell Advantage to me

Should I try calling more? I'm just afraid they might look up the quote I just got now and won't give me another price quote.

$559 in AU dollars is like $585 USD. So the $597.25 is a great deal. I got it for $599.25.

Hmm thanks :) I'm currently trying again with an online rep. The rep I talked with on the phone said that everyone in the dept was tricked by people linking the Dell Aus site since AUD =/= USD, and the manager is now denying all the reps to give anyone the $559 discount price.

sbiza 12-05-2012 05:21 PM

So I noticed this about a week ago on Dell AUS at that time said 3 days now says 1 day so I hope it last tell tomorrow so I can complete the deal that I was quoted. When I saw the price a week ago I tried to get them to pm through home chat that did not work.

Flyingmau5 12-05-2012 05:23 PM

Catleap or this?

damoy 12-05-2012 05:23 PM

Yay! Got my quote for $599.00. The first rep I talked to tried to pressure me into putting in the order right away. Said the deal would not be good if I didn't order right away (in other words I wouldn't have time to buy the GC). Also, when I looked the quote number he gave me, it showed full price with no discount! So I called again and got a very nice rep, she said I could order my monitors tomorrow, send me an email with the quote (at the right price). I'm so going to make sure she gets credit for this sale.

Can I use 1920 x 1200 resolution on this monitor?

Does anyone know how this will work with my system? Right now if I go to my screen settings the max resolution option I see is 1920 x 1200, its a Lenovo T500 I bought in 2009 ad its on a docking station. Right now I have a Dell U2412M hooked up that I'm returning cause its too small for split screen setup on Windows 7. Is 1920 x 1200 gonna be my max resolution even if I change my monitor due to the limitations of my graphics card?

BTW I am not a gamer just want an crystal clear setup for working 10+ hours a day on this thing, and want a split screen setup. I'd appreciate if anyone could help me out a little here.

Kendall_88 12-05-2012 05:44 PM

AG coating

BTW if this helps anyone out I was at MicroCenter the other day and the AG coating is much better on this model than the U2412M and the U2711. It was not completely unnoticeable but significantly better. The latest version of the HP ZR2740W looked the best though, the AG coating was undetectable (in a room with no sun) it looked really great, beware tho you can only change the brightness and nothing else on this one (I never change anything else anyway).

In addition to all this, the U2412M I am about to return I am about 80% use to the AG coaing after using it for about a week, so U think on this model it will not be a problem at all over some time.

I still don't know if I can use these monitors on my computer though. If no one can answer my previous post I will take my Lenovo to MicroCenter and hook it up and see.

thomaslw 12-05-2012 05:47 PM

they are insta-giving out 597.25 quotes now i believe. i called in and she knew exactly what i wanted and said they no longer will honor any 549.99 and said the best they can do is 597 and i was like 'heck ya' and the rest went smoothly. btw as gvsl stated, if you haven't used your amex sync offer, this totally works - i got the email while still on the phone with the dell rep. the total is 648 after tax and env fee (if u live in cali), so subtract 150 from that and you are basically getting it for 498 dollars.

Yes your T500 will run this monitor and you can use the native 2560x1440 resolution. Right now your only seeing a max resolution of 1920x1200 because that is the max your U2412M can display.

Kendall_88 12-05-2012 05:58 PM

Second call in. The rep automatically said that he could not price match Dell Aus the moment I mentioned about the monitor. Seems like they won't give you the $559 price anymore. I think it's still a decent deal. People were buying the monitor for $650 on Amazon/Costco.

You mean an A- quality IPS panel that is used in thousand dollar thunderbolts that comes with a 2 year warranty? You mean a monitor that can be overclocked to 120hz? A monitor that used to be only $300 till the nerd stampede came in and jacked it up to 600$?

Oh and when was the last time a MONITOR CAUGHT ON F*CKING FIRE?!?!? ARE YOU STUPID?

Oh and whens the last time you had a monitor fail? Monitors almost never fail.....

Korean IPS monitors are good, but there's still a big risk. This big risk does have a big pay out though. If you want to play it safe, I would get this as a secondary monitor rather than a primary monitor.

Warranty on these monitors will be hard to service (if they provide one to you at all). You would have to pay shipping both ways I believe. Squaretrade warranty does not work on the Korean IPS monitors (they just refund the cost of your warranty).

not side track the thread; any good 21.5" IPS monitor? i confused with all the choices : AOC 23", ASUS 23" and Dell 21/23" U series.

Any one help out fellow SDers; $200 is the max budget for me. All i am looking for good color for watching Movies, Browsing. I got view sonic VA2212M-LED - good for browsing but very bad in watching movies, it just cannot reproduce the color. btw going to use with Mac Mini 2012 model.

TIA.

I believe all the panels use eIPS panels provided by LG. So, I would pick whichever is cheaper. Try to check them out at B&M stores so you can see which monitor you like better.

The AU site has the U2913WM for 599, too.

Can this be stacked with the 10% off monitors coupon?

Don't fight lies with more lies.

Catleaps do not use the same panels as these Dell's or as Apple's IPS monitors. They use binned, lesser quality rejects from the production line. You may not like to hear it, but they are definitely rejected panels..

Most of the Korean direct monitors don't have on screen displays. Most of them have very few input ports. Perhaps the greatest feature of the Korean direct monitors is their extremely low latency. The truth is that most users don't need latency that low. In fact, the difference in the latency between this Dell and the Catelaps is something only the most hardcore of FPS gamers will ever notice.

Another huge factor (downside) is that most of the Korean direct monitors have a mirror-like glossy finish. A screen so reflective that used anywhere but a completely dark room can alter the screen's visuals with awful reflections.

Then there's the warranty issue. As in, there is no effectively executable warrant in monitors ordered directly from Korea.

The Catleaps and other Korean direct monitors may be fine for FPS gamers or those that want a big cheap monitor to use in their completely dark rooms, but that usage profile does not match the majority of computer users. I think that recommending these Korean direct monitors to the general public is irresponsible.

Catleap and the rest of the cheap Korean monitors use rejected panels that did not meet the A+ binning that the IPS panels which are used by Dell and Apple meet. You may luck out and get a Catleap with no dead pixels and minimal backlight bleed, especially if you pay extra for a pixel perfect, but that doesn't mean you got a panel of equal quality to this Dell because you don't know why it received a lower grade.

There is also more to a monitor than just the panel and the quality of the electronics inside those Catleaps is not the same as what's inside a Dell or Apple premium monitor. That is why I made the snarky remark about it being a fire hazard because just like the cheap $50 1000w power supplies that uneducated people buy thinking it will power their computer the same as the $200 premium 1000w PSU up until the day day it blows up and catches on fire, a monitor powered by cheap electronics is much more likely to fail.

And the thing is with these cheap Korean monitors that only just became popular this past year, they haven't been put to the test yet in how well they will run without defects 2 to 3 years from now because there are plenty of reports already from users that have had to get theirs replaced after only a few months.

Also anyone that has had to cash in on the warranty for one of these Korean monitors can tell you first hand how much of a pain it is paying to ship the monitor to Korea and then wait weeks to ever get a replacement. With this Dell not only do you get a 3 year warranty with a zero bright pixel guarantee, but you also get advanced replacement with next day delivery and for the first 21 days Dell will swap you with a brand new one for any reason. That kind of warranty alone is well worth paying more for if you're someone that relies on your monitor day to day.

If you're on a low budget and can't afford to pay more for a name brand premium monitor I definitely get that and it's why these Korean monitors were an instant success, but if you think you're getting the exact same monitor as this U2713HM for a few hundred less simply because it shares the same panel technology you're wrong.

Where exactly did you get your education in monitor pyrotechnics, Professor Burningrave? Electronics can be cheap because there is less of them, fewer features, without necessarily having a shorter MTBF. In fact, the MTBF could well be longer in that situation.

here is where I agree with you and on the shipping back to asia for warranty, however I would have been all over one of the overclockable 2b catleaps for $300.

unfort. it looks like this deal is dead, If I could have gotten this monitor for $484 I would have.

and to the guy above me, WTF is MTBF? I hate it when people use acronyms they know nobody understands except them.... just blows my mind as to why people do this?

Monitor should be here on Wednesday. Total out of pocket cost after promo and taxes was $535. So a Slickdeal very much so indeed. Thanks OP for your guidance. Rep'd.

Gokuh 12-06-2012 09:09 AM

I managed to get this deal yesterday evening and my monitor shipped out this morning. I didn't get as good of a deal as some as I ended up paying 599+tax but I did purchase a $500 egiftcard and got the 90 promo card which I used with the purchase. So all in all I was happy.

Thank you OP for posting the information.

This is crazy. I've ordered on Monday and still hasn't shipped it yet.

You're not exactly right with your statements regarding the panels. You are correct that the panels are not the same as the panels used in the Dells. However, they are the same as the Apple displays. Panels are made and graded in batches. Apple will only buy A+ batches, and rejects the rest. Panels batches are in the thousands, and are graded overall. What this means is that while a panel batch may be graded at A-, there can be A+ panels in the batch.

Your statement that a glossy panel is a downside is purely subjective. I owned the U2410, and hated the AG coating. I actually like a glossy panel very much, though I will concede that I do have my system in a dark room.

The Korean panels are also being sold domestically via Overlord computers, Microcenter, and Monoprice. Purchasing from one of these retailers removes the issue regarding sending a monitor back to Korea for warranty issues.

The 220V to 110V converter shipped with both of my monitors hardly gets warm to the touch. No issues so far.

Anyway, I think both kind of monitors have their place. I picked up two Shimians for $285 each, and they have blown me away. No dead pixels, no backlight bleed, no color uniformity issues. Simply outstanding panels. Maybe I was just lucky, but I liked both so much I sold off the U2410.

Interesting. Wonder if all of yesterday's PM activity caused them to push the AU price back up to MSRP. If so there are some mighty disappointed aussies right about now...

steveotron 12-06-2012 10:51 AM

Amazon has just price matched it to $559.

http://www.amazon.com/Dell-U2713H...ds=u2713hm

If I hadn't already done the gift card deal, which happens to be a little cheaper, I would have just gone with Amazon at this price for ease (and your money wouldn't be forever tied with the gift cards).

Yeah, should have an easier time getting the price match with Dell now. Somebody give it a shot and see.

johnbegone 12-06-2012 11:52 AM

Was not able to get Dell to PM Amazon, strangely. They offered $75 off plus a $75 gift card after the fact. So $724 with free shipping today, then a $75 card later.

Just went and placed the order on Amazon. With no tax and no shipping and 5% discover CB it ends up being $531.

dougleto 12-06-2012 11:59 AM

Tried via chat and they say they won't price match at the moment. Dang!

dipalda 12-06-2012 12:01 PM

That was scary, I have been watching this thread and was about to call Dell, when I noticed the Dell deal was dead and Amazon had it for 559. I added to cart and Amazon kept removing it. I was finally able to get what appeared to be the last one. Maybe Amazon will keep taking orders, but I'm not sure...

snapcoyote 12-06-2012 12:03 PM

Deal dead at Amazon

sbiza 12-06-2012 12:23 PM

Been watching amazon and missed out. Did get it for 599 without the gift card though I am happy enough with the price just not as slick as everyone else. 649.00 including tax so beat the costco price and I was going to just order it off Newegg for 723 or the ASUS PLS panel one for 699 so beat those prices saved 50 or more.

Thanks OP.

Jetia2 12-06-2012 01:34 PM

Ok technical question. To run 2 of these worth a darn should I buy a second EVGA GTX 570 2GB VRAM to run in SLI with the one I already have:
http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForc...B005AY5N9O
Or upgrade to a single 680? Be 150 or so cheaper to do the first option...but want to make sure it's adequate to run bot. Do some gaming, video/picture editing, etc...

Danadcorps 12-06-2012 02:38 PM

Damn, just had a huge runaround with Dell, but ended up with the same deal that the OP got. First was told they couldn't do it (same day as OP posted), then got a call back an hour later saying all they could do was $579. Told them to send me a quote so I can pay later once gift cards get approved. Called them back today and they said they couldn't match the quote they gave me, but they could do $599 - I told them No. Called again (this time got a new rep) and he was able to match the $579 from before (he had to cancel the quote and create another order). First rep calls back within 30 minutes and asks if I have already bought the item (at this point I'm sure she knew that I did) - so I say "yes, they were able to match the original quote that you told me you couldn't match." She says that they can now do even better with 30% off (OP's price). She cancels the previous order and uses the same payment scheme (promo gc + $500gc + amex) to order it again.

All in all, THX OP!

bizwarrior 12-06-2012 02:57 PM

I called in about 30 minutes ago when I thought you could not get the ops deal and they gave me the price of 599. Wish I had waited a little longer so I would have seen the last twp posts and tried for the ops deal. Anyway, for anyone calling in right now it seems to be easy to get it for 599 and maybe if you still press you might be able to get the ops deal if you press according to the last few posts.

I was able to price match to Amazon in the ~1 hour window that it was available for $559. Bought 6 and used the GC deal. Thanks OP!

Available from Amazon again but back to $649.99 price.

LoudmouthGTO 12-06-2012 07:04 PM

Just talked with Dell about my order that I put in yesterday for $599 after getting quoted at $559 the day before. The supervisor kept stating that the price was cheaper than the Australian amount and they were allowing it to go through at $559 two days ago. Today people were calling in to get it matched for $559 at Amazon US dollars and he is allowing it for today only. My order was placed in the middle of the two days so he could not adjust the price. They also lied to me yesterday and stated that all the orders placed at $559 would be cancelled. Meanwhile they are putting in fresh orders today at $559.

If you want one it shouldn't be a problem to get Dell to pricematch at $559 right now. fark them for not adjusting the price on mine though.

I called them as soon as Amazon dropped the price to get a refund for the difference. But tbh, I don't care that much since I paid $535 out of pocket so still cheaper than the Amazon deal any way you slice it.
