Final Fantasy III for iOS ($15.99 -> 8.99)

Final Fantasy for iOS on sale for $8.99 :bounce:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/f...91347?mt=8 The game has been out since March 2011 and is usually $15.99. It has had one sale down to $11.99 back in December 2011 but hasn't been this low ever. Square Enix isn't like most iOS game developers that race to the bottom, so I wouldn't expect this to go any lower than it already is for a LONG time ;) |
The iPad version also dropped and is $9.99!

Too bad this isn't available for android. I'd rather just google / download it and save 10 bucks. Not sure why Square Enix doesn't make games for android.

That's probably why. |
It's nice to see people are still willing to slap down a few bucks for a game that isn't built around micro-transactions.

https://play.google.com/store/app...I_GP&hl=en I wish more developers made android games, I'm glad Square Enix DOES. |

That's a steep price even with the sale for an ipad game
|
I have this on the ipad and iphone. You cant save your game, if you die, it's game over. There is a quick autosave function in game but you can't load the file at start. I would stay away from this version until that is fixed. I also have ff1 and ff2 on the iphone and they don't have this problem.
|
I was soooooooo excited when they ported this to ios... But then I realized it wasn't ff3 from snes (the American 3rd), but the Japanese 3rd. I was let down, sucked =(. Glad I didn't buy it anyways, sold the iphone soon after and got a launch gs2.
|
If you have an android, just download the emulator and play for free.

I have my snes still with ff3 cart... I was hoping for a solid port to spare wear and tear.. .But meh |
Looking forward to the forthcoming release of FFIV to iOS. Now that's the game I really want.
|
Oh boy! Another platform I can get stuck in the ice cave on and lose interest. It's tradition.
|
I get thoroughly annoyed when companies charge different prices for the same thing. No more work in the iPad version versus iPhone... Yet charge more. I also dislike when they charge more for pixels (retina vs. not). Same goes for HD content on online purveyors video sites. Rent a movie for $1 but $1 more for HD version?
|
I didn't know that Square's library was so good on iOS. One step closer to my ditching the console completely and just getting an iPad.

dont have any iOS devices but one of my fave FF games... nice find OP!
|
You can save ANYWHERE. Just use the "Quick Save" in the menu. But make sure when you start the game again, you choose "continue", NOT load game.
I have this game on my tmobile SGS2 and it works great. |

I have it and its fun but I have too many other rpg's on my TP to keep me busy. :(

Man, I wish this was for sale on Android. I have had this on my "wishlist" in the android market forever hoping the price would drop. I HATE how Apple seems to get everything first (and sometimes only they get it), when the user base for Android is significantly larger.

Thanks. Only downfall I can see is that the resolution is a lot lower on the DS than this version. The polygons kinda twitch like they did on old Playstation 1 games. *edit - That appears to be a SNES emu, not DS? |

no FF game will ever be better than VII

Anyways, this seems like a great deal for a classic game. |
6 > all. :D this is 3 right, not 6? it mentions jobs which 3 here did not have. :D

A good deal, but one of the worst FF games, IMO. To a large extent, story and characters didn't really start mattering until this game's successor, FF IV. |
40+ hours logged on this during business trips.
still cant beat the iron giant. never once crashed. great port to the ipad. |
i dled it for android last week. half way through the game. Its good if you missed part 3 in the series. The emulated version isnt as easy and smooth. I paid 15.99 , It was expensive but the time I put in the game, it beats other small puzzle, endless nonsense games.
This is the real FF3, not the fake ff3 in the states, which really is FF6. |

Yes, unfortunately... this is the Japanese 3, not the American 3. I miss spending 100+ hours on USA 3 and not even thinking that I wasted a moment of my time. Same w/ Earthbound, though I still haven't got the damn sword of kings to drop (even after 6 playthroughs and many many attempts). |

Well... I said **** it and bought all three (Final Fantasy 1, 2, and 3) for $17
Final Fantasy 3 is obviously the best one, but $4 for a classic NES rpg seems more than worth it for the collection. Now I've got: - Final Fantasy 1 ($3.99) - Final Fantasy 2 ($3.99) - Final Fantasy 3 ($8.99) - Secret of Mana ($4.99) - Mega Man 2 ($0.99) - Mega Man X ($0.99) Once Chrono Trigger finally goes on sale the iOS collection will finally be complete :D |
thanks op, ive wanted this game for a while. but its always been so pricey. I agree. it will not get any lower than this.
|
I have played 2 - 7. part 3 was ok.
|
I'm still waiting for Final Fantasy Tactics to go on sale. I was so excited when I found it in the appstore and then immediately sad to see the price on that game. I just don't feel right paying anything over $10 on iOS, despite how good it would be. Hopefully this sale is a sign that FFT is on it's way to something I can happily pay. :)
Still on the fence on this one. I've had my eye on it for a while...hmm... |

Even if it wasn't, the graphics and dialogue were completely redone for this version, which is almost exactly the DS version. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_III You're probably thinking of FFVI, which was labeled as FFIII in the U.S. |

OSD controls will always be lacking in my opinion. It's tiring to hold up an ipad for extended periods of time, you can't feel your way aroudn the buttons (and can slip off the virtual d-pads and buttons), and your own fingers block the screen sometimes (more of an issue on phones than ipads). Edit: Good find on this sale/deal though! |

I'm just happy to see the deal helping others. Glad you agree that Square Enix just doesn't lower their prices the way other developers do. Most developers come out with a game at a certain price. Then, once the sales start to drop, lower the price to generate buzz and hopefully more sales once they raise the price back up. Not Square Enix though. They are stubborn as a mule and almost never give out sales ! Quote:
Hope this helps :bounce: |

and i dunno about you, but the more i game, the more i want to check out slickdeals for all these $40-$45 promos and pick up a bunch of games i don't need. my backlog grew by like 4 games after black friday. but to get back on topic, $9 for an awesome remake of a great game is an awesome deal, and it looks amazing on the retina display, probably even better on the ipad. anyone who is thinking that $9 is too much is kidding themselves, considering this would sell out quick if they were selling the DS cartridge somewhere for anywhere near $9. |

Thank you for your suggestion! That place is just what I was looking for. Hopefully I won't miss out on that FFT sale whenever it comes. :) |
