Little Giant RevolutionXE 22-Foot Multi-Use Ladder $199

Damn how does Selma post so fast?... I know bot with provacative avatars!
Anyway, good deal. I bought this in 2007 for $50 more. Eye of the beholder here since Werner and other companies have come out with copycats. I have put mine to good use around the house and I think it is the best ladder out there. |
I'm pretty sure only about 1% of the people who buy this will put it to its full potential and half of them will be midgets.
Just buy a regular ladder for 20 bucks unless you plan on painting your house, or if you like to put things really high off the ground on a daily basis... |
Selma beat me to the deal AGAIN...lol. Great deal if you like compact, versatile ladders. Free shipping via amazon a plus.
|
I bought the Werner MT-22 from the last Slickdeal but the Little Giant 22 footer is about 10 lbs lighter. Wondering if I should return the MT-22 and buy the Little Giant, which will cost me about $70 more if I do it.

Holy 38 lbs. I'm not hauling that around... I'll stick with my 4' and 7' ladders.

When used as an Extension Ladder, are you stuck with it fully extended? Or can you adjust the height?

Does anybody know what the price was on Amazon before today's lightening deal? Am I saving $50 or more? Just wondering if I should really jump on the deal as a gift for my husband.

The similar Werner has a max extension length of 18 feet if I remember correctly. Anyway, be forewarned if you're trying to reach a second story roof. For my house I actually need the 26 foot one... |

I use mine as a step ladder on my stare well, one side is fully extended the other side is not. I still make sure I have a spotter watching the lower side (I am not recommending anyone do anything "unsafe" ;) ) ... standard ladders wouldn't work for that. Mine is a Warner, I have also used my parents Little Giant ... theirs is lighter, which is kind of nice when lugging it around on larger jobs. |
If the job requires you to get up 22 feet in the air, hire someone else to do it. Life is too precious. Let a professional take care of it.

They are great for using as a tall A-frame. The small steps do cause a little increased fatigue. You can use them as minor scaffolding. They are a nice 18-19 foot extension ladder. A little heavy but easy enough to use. They work wonderfully on stairs to reach areas other ladders would have difficulty with...They store in relatively small spaces and are easy to transport. My friends are constantly borrowing mine. If I had to pick two ladders it would be a nice A frame and a multi ladder. The next thing I would pick would be scaffolding or a nice work platform or two. |
It has wheels to help with moving it around on hard surface...but it has to be at an angle. I use it to clean out my gutters, trim top of trees, fix shutters, etc. If you use it fully extended, use common sense or have a spouse/friend helping you out.

Man...
I feel like an idiot paying $400 for 26' from Amazon. Tried to return it but my return window expired last week and now I will end up losing more money that I'll save. |
Serious Devil's Advocate Question:
Is this really any better than the Werner 22' Telescoping ladder that is often $150 or less? http://www.amazon.com/Werner-MT-2...ion+ladder I realize it is $220 today, but it is almost always $159 or less. From what I can gather, LittleGiant's patent on the design of this ladder expired, thus allowing Werner to come in and make the exact same spec. If I were a serious construction user- I'd probably pony up for the LittleGiant name... maybe. But Werner is no slouch either and has fantastic reviews as you can see. Not to drop a deuce in the Cheerios- but is this really worth the price hike? |
According to camelcamelcamel, the lowest price this has been in the last year is around $320. It's been $340 for most of the year.
|
As an insurance adjuster I can tell you this is a great deal....way cheaper than the best discounts they offer. I dont like anything bigger than the 17ft for normal everyday use, but if you're just hauling this out for christmas lights it will work great...WAY WAY BETTER than the werner.
|
Just to clarify....This is one of their nicest versions...better than the kind you see at Costco...it's lighter, easier to adjust.....I have the 17 and the 26ft and use them almost daily...I had one break due to user error when a friend barrowed it, but little giant sent the replacement part right away without trouble.

I have this ladder, ordered from the "Big E" expo in Mass.
Its an excellent ladder. A little heavy, yes, but I also have a shorter (non-Little Giant) multi-position ladder when I dont need the 22' height. Ive used it indoors (skylight repair) and out and its never failed me. While 38 lbs is heavy, the Husky version I have that is only 13' is only a few lbs lighter. For a 22' ladder 38 lbs is excellent (and thats the biggest draw of the XE series....lightweight aluminum vs their other ladders, but still the same strength) I have extension ladders as well but dont bother using them anymore. Lighter, but much more unwieldy. And the Little Giant can be used in different positions of course. |

I want one of the ones that you can angle all over, but this might be nice to replace my old beat up auction ladder. |

Now that's what I'm talking about :) I got a 12' Ladder for free at a yard sale last summer. I used it once to change a battery on a fire alarm, but I could have just used a chair  I just thought it was silly that Amazon's HUGE deal of the day was a $200 ladder. |

Is this model a, pardon the pun, a "step up" from their Alta One model?
|
Just FYI, these ladders are far heavier than standard aluminum ladders. I have one and it is very, very sturdy and feels rock solid, but even carrying it up 1 flight of stairs is very demanding because of the weight. Lugging this beast around the house is annoying it's so heavy. Imagine picking up a 40 pound bag of dog food everytime you move it, except it's also 6 feet tall when collapsed all the way. If you are older or petite, or you're concerned at all about the weight, you may want to pass.
Absolutely incredible deal for the price though. |
This is a killer deal on a great, versatile ladder.
I'm bummed because I paid 50% more last month (factoring in that I have to pay 9.5% sales tax to Amazon in WA). This is a very versatile ladder. It becomes two shorter stepladders and you can buy a steel plank to use it for scaffolding (unlike the "Classic", you have to use these trestle brackets that are included for the second ladder). It becomes a 22' extension ladder. But for me it's its versatility as a stepladder -- I bought this instead of an 8' fiberglass stepladder. At full height, this is a 9' stepladder but its storage height is actually shorter than my 6' fiberglass one. I put up Xmas lights last week and i have to start it by putting the other end on two steps up high in my front yard. You can't do that with a regular stepladder, it'd be tilted since both sides are fixed. A breeze for the Little Giant -- you simply shorten the other end. With other stepladders, I couldn't face-up to the gutters because of the A-frame of a stepladder. I had to put the stepladder perpendicular and twist and work sideways. With the LG, I shorten the other end so it's almost a right triangle (almost, there is some gutter overhang and it's more stable not to make it a perfect right angle). Using the right-angle configuration I was also able to get into a corner safely. As a stepladder it is very stable. There is minimal "bounce" when climbing, and only a small amount when fully extended when climbing down. People have asked about the cheaper Werner copies. You get what you pay for. The Werner ladders are made to be sell cheaper. They are manufactured in China and if you look closely at the locking hinges and the pins used to lock the selectable ladder heights, you can see they are thinner and cheaper. As a result, they're not as stable and strong. The LG's are made in the USA. The Revolution ladder has gone through a few design tweaks and they've improved the hinge mechanism to a four-pin lock, and the "Rock Locks" are now all metal (before the grips were bright red plastic). They added the trestle brackets for more stability during scaffolding operations. (Of course this implies that the original Revolution was not as good -- it's a recent design.) Now for the downsides -- If i just need a shorter, conventional stepladder, I still use my 4' or 6' fiberglas ones. Lighter with wider, more comfortable steps. The steps on the LG are narrow and you want to use solid-soled shoes like hiking boots on them and not sneakers if you're on them for a while (though they do have nice accessories like the work platform and Airdeck that help out). As someone pointed out, if you fold it up and angle it, it rolls on its wheels. The Revolution is very solid, sturdy, and stable but I think the "Classic" ones are a bit better in that regard. While the Classic is an older design and it is about 10% heavier, I suspect LG had to make some tradeoffs to get a lighter model. It's best if you watch the DVD that comes with it because there is some technique involved in using the ladder. Especially to avoid clipping your hands and fingers or bonking your head. They make it look easy in the infomercials, but that's because they've got the technique down. It's not perfect, but for $200 I think this is a screaming deal and waaaay better than the cheaply made, less sturdy/stable, made-in-China Werner. |
In for one, I have the 15' and its great! Paid $135 for that one in 2009 (Woot), so $200 for this is a steal. This should be front page!
|
Great deal if you have the 10% off coupon from Amazon. Total $179.99 plus tax.
|
In for one... Any recommendations on a scaffold platform for this?
|
is it dead?
I've been looking for this exact item for my job. But when I click the link, there is no sign of it?

Please note that the rungs are very narrow on these things. I recently borrowed one from a friend and after a few minutes on ladder my feet were starting to hurt. I can't imagine spending an hour on this painting or cleaning gutters...just an FYI.

I think this one is dead....

dead because its sold out. offered another deal now. It says:
Porter-Cable 2.5 Amp Oscillating Multitool Kit Due to high demand the Little Giant RevolutionXE ladder has sold out, but we have another great deal for you today. The Porter-Cable PC250MTK 2.5 amp oscillating multitool kit with 36 accessories tackles a wide variety of projects and tasks. |
I don't see it in gold box deals anymore. :(.
I just bought this last week from Home Depot for ~270 + tax. I price matched the amazon 335 price to get 10% and there is additional discover cb. If you need to get to a vent, filter, light, etc above stairs. You can use a multi ladder. The Werner is fine, but if you are willing to pay a bit more, little giant is lighter. |

OOS Again! F Amazon and these deals where they only have a few available from a certain seller for a few moments. Great deal but F Amazon sideways! You want all my business? Just give us a good deal without all the hoops.
|
I bought one this morning. Thanks Selma!
I have the 22ft classic that is about 17 years old but still good as new. I also have the 18ft ladder and bought the 26' for my church. They're great ladders and well worth the price. |
