Cheaper solution for ipod/iphone docks: $9 (ebay.com [ebay.com])

Still haven't received mine from DailySteals that I ordered on Black Friday 11/27....They need to get their orders fulfilled before selling more....

I'm trying to cancel mine so I can order the one on eBay. At least on eBay they're held accountable...

edit: side rant

Has anyone noticed the new trend on eBay for sellers to automatically send out tracking #'s for items after immediate payment?

Example: I ordered some nano SIM adapters on 11/20. Got shipping confirmation on 11/20.
Item didn't arrive until 12/10. Checked Tracking #, and the item wasn't even sent out to the post office until 12/7.

So that means, the sellers just print out a Tracking label, and then just sit on non-existent inventory until they get it, or ???
I ordered from them because they're a US seller (with US shipping). lThey sat on the label for 17 days!! lTurns out that they're technically only ~50 miles away from me.

I think its a bunch of crap.

OMG... this is exactly what I am watching to buy..
Bluetooth for car..

Thanks OP I got it for $15 ...

It's right. I noticed it recently when I ordered stuff from Ebay.

Be careful with this seller. I ordered mine on 11/28 but havent got any email from them yet. I tried to contact them a few times but no help.

duff1856 12-12-2012 01:47 PM

What is the real advantage of the Auto version? how is it any better than using a audio cable in the Aux port and a power cable?

Meatetarian 12-12-2012 01:50 PM

I came in here because I thought it said Xtreme Mac n Cheese.

I'm still hungry, but at least I'll have a cool new BT dongle soon. Thanks OP!

cyborg95 12-12-2012 02:14 PM

Thanks OP, Got one. needed the car one, really hate to plugin the wire into the phone everytime...i know i am lazy

crazypotato 12-12-2012 03:16 PM

how long is the audio cable in the car version? My 3.5mm is in the glove compartment. The cable doesn't look long enough. Running a 3.5mm extension cable looks ugly.

adawra 12-12-2012 03:19 PM

Does the Auto/Car version has mic inbuilt?
Spec says I can pick calls with touch of button.

TIA

Rabonga 12-12-2012 03:22 PM

It's because eBay has an upload percentage requirement for tracking now for seller metrics.

I'd love this, but my car stereo don't have an AUX jack. Too bad it doesn't have an FM transmitter built-in too.

Yeah, but it's still a bunch of crap.

I'm gonna sell something, print out a shipping label, and then not send it out to you for a month! but its ok, you have a tracking #.

Is there anything like this that has two connect? Like I have my speaker plug into my laptop via the 3.5mm. It would be nice if I can use the same speaker without unplug it then plug into the bluetooth in order to use my ipod with the speaker.

Guys ... any idea how good the charger is (InChargeā„¢ Home BT, 10W) . I mean how long will it take to charge and how much will it charge the iPhone. I am assuming its like a storage device, that you can use on the road to charge your iphone.

JohnL6542 12-12-2012 04:18 PM

Ordered mine two weeks ago and got this reply yesterday when trying to find out where my order is and when it will ship.

Hi John,

We're so sorry about that! We've been experiencing some issues with our supplier on that item and it might take a few more days to ship out. But I assure you that we're working on the issue.

We apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused,

This isn't a portable charger, It has a USB outlet on it so you can charger your device while it's plugged into the wall.

mine too. but i ordered something else around that time, and it had a similar order # . that order # works in UPS.

i went ahead and filed a paypal claim, it's obvious they just created a shipping label, but have no intention of sending it out.

There is a reason why sellers are doing this. eBay recently changed their policy for sellers to upload more than 90% of their tracking numbers to maintain status. I guess sellers are automating this process just to make sure they aren't caught by ebay. If you aren't receiving the items within the estimated delivery date promised on the item page, you should report this to ebay.

P.S: it kinda helps to work for ebay ;)

qqluck 12-12-2012 07:36 PM

Seriously? It's bluetooth, that's what the advantage is... It's all about convenience. Plus you don't have to deal with the internal phone/ipod amp giving you all sorts of distortion for reasonable volumes with bluetooth.

Daniel.l.cole 12-13-2012 07:05 AM

Can quite tell, is this compatible with the iPhone5?

mmintz 12-13-2012 07:28 AM

I posted the following on the last thread for this bluetooth audio receiver...

I recently purchased a USB powered Bluetooth audio dongle, a 10ft usb male to female cable, and a usb charger

Cable - 2.34
Charger -.99
Dongle - 6.76

Total 10.09 shipped

All items received and works like a charm. Dongle comes with short 3.5mm cable but I use a 3.5m to RCA for my stereo. Love playing music from iphone or ipad while laying on couch or in bed.

I have no issue with distortion using a straight audio cable. Just dont turn the iphone volume to Max. Also, you then have to keep bluetooth on all the time(runs battery down faster), plug it in anyway to power if you want to charge your phone, have a bulky setup at your cigarette lighter(most cars).

Not thread crapping. I would still love to use this thing, but an audio cable for cheaper can do the same thing and be a lot less bulky.

Edit. i suppose it you be slick if you could hard wire it into your cars stereo and power in glove box or under dash

asmd 12-13-2012 08:06 AM

I have one of these and it does auto connect with my iPhone, but only if it is not in a continuously powered socket. I have it in my car (plugged into a cigarette lighter USB adaptor) and it will auto connect as I turn on the ignition. I did switch it to a rental car once that had a continually powered socket (ie. it didn't go off when I turned off the car) and it did NOT auto connect in that case.

Saying that - I am buying this one because I get some cyloning and static. I'm hoping this one has better sound quality.

RomanG 12-13-2012 08:40 AM

Belkin Alternative..

I went with this one from Belkin - $19.99 Currently

http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-F8Z4...=F8Z492TTP

It is Belkin and seems to have good reviews. It also comes with several cables for connections. I wanted to get the XtremeMac, but I am a bit wary given the number of reviews on the net. The Belkin seems to be a bit more popular and is smaller. However, a slight mod of removing the metal plate from inside is required to get the best range. Seems quite easy though..

asmd 12-13-2012 08:42 AM

WRT the Belkin, how to power it in the car?
It comes with a wall wart.

oghowie 12-13-2012 08:44 AM

Got excited and then realized my G37 doesn't have a AUX port and only a USB plug in...

asmd 12-13-2012 08:46 AM

Just noticed from pics on Amazon that the Belkin uses 5V in. Maybe a USB to DC in jack might work then?

Fair enough, but keeping bluetooth on all the time has a completely negligible effect on the battery, from my experience. Also, at least in my car, keeping the iphone turned down to the point where it doesn't distort (about 70% max) gives me such a low voltage output signal that my signal-to-noise is atrocious.

Bulky, yes; but certainly tidier. I've been using a cable up until now and I hate having it lay on my passenger seat all the time. (yes, I'm anal)

I also like this particular model (if it works) because it charges via the cigarette lighter, as opposed to USB. I use the USB port in my car to play high fidelity audio files directly from a thumb drive, so I don't want to lose the use of the USB just to power the bluetooth module.

I hear what you're saying - it's not like it's a necessity, and there's no way I'd pay the $79 MSRP the review quoted for this thing, but for $15, I'll jump.

frigidinferno 12-13-2012 12:03 PM

does anyone know which version of bluetooth it uses?

rexb 12-13-2012 03:02 PM

My 09 Odyssey EX-L has power and audio jacks at the 3rd row seat. The home version should work very well and will be out of sight. Hope the product delivers.

It's UPS Innovations - they hand it off to USPS (its their tracking # system).

Either way, it's supposed to show up in UPS and USPS. But it doesn't.

Belkin and extrememac have 1 yr warranty, the logitech has 2 yr warranty.
Belkin...while the advertised range is 33 feet, dont think it goes beyond 20 feet..havent done the mod apparently newer stock the plastic is hard to take apart...there is a limit of 8 devices that you can pair with belkin, not sure about xtrememac

they cut it real close tho.

Damn, auto version is sold out. Was going to try it for the price. I have a situation where I'm unsure what will happen though. My CR-Z has bluetooth handsfree for calling but no bluetooth audio streaming. It has a USB port and AUX tho for ipod or whatever. I wonder how the iphone would handle calls if it's synced to this for music.

I'm not totally sold on bluetooth audio. Heard it in a friends car lately we switched from BT to USB and the sound difference is severe. ..but I'd give a shot for 15 bucks.

I was just looking at this the other day and almost pulled the trigger for $40. Glad I waited. I just home it arrives this year... Got the auto one so I don't have to deal with cables.

Ordered this and received the Home version. Just tried it out and it skips or stutters every few seconds.

Looking at their returns it says it has to be in same condition as it was received? I opened it so it isn't in the same condition. Anyone know if I can still return this?

Received my auto version a few days ago and tried it out this morning with my IP5. Setup is pretty much a breeze, but the sound quality is abysmal. I'm getting ridiculous levels of distortion in the signal. Not sure if this is due to poor internal amp to the product, or what, but there's really nothing I can do about it. Adjusting bluetooth output volume on the iphone doesn't help, of course, since there's no distortion in that signal anyway (other than minor loss of fidelity due to AD2P protocol). Distortion is also there whether I turn my head unit (OEM BMW 135i) down or up, so it's not an amplification issue on that end.

There are no volume controls on the unit itself, so I'm about to give up on this one. The audio is really that bad. Oh well, at least it was only $15...
