these are generic fixed number codes.. you can print multiple copies and use as many times as you like.. even though it says 1 per customer, I have seen people splitting purchase and using multiple times..

Note all the exclusions, including "Morning Specials." Stand in Macy's, and look around at the veritable SEA of "Morning Special" signs. Virtually everything that's on sale is marked "Morning Special." Now, stand by any register, and watch the stream of unhappy customers being told that the coupon doesn't apply to what they're buying. Seriously, I'd be surprised if 20% of the sale/clearance items in the store are actually eligible for the coupon. It's a total scam.

Not so. I've gone twice this month to the "One Day Sale" using said coupon. With the exception of a pair of Alfani dress shoes, a couple of pairs of pj's and a hoodie (all on sale), everything was on clearance. Didn't have a problem with the coupon taking off of anything, even the shoes. Only problem I had was using two coupons back to back.

Totally agree. last time I brought few coupons and had hard time finding deals with this coupon. Waste lot of time and at the end of the last 30 minutes I gave away my coupons in the store. I'll stay home and be comfortable this time. Good luck to the people who try and Merry Christmas.

Stephengg 12-21-2012 06:36 AM

Any thing sold for $25 in Macy will probably sell only $10 elsewhere.

So True- Last time around I wasted an hour in line only to learn everything I had was not valid for the $10 off.

executivedealer 12-21-2012 07:18 AM

These coupons and discounts they offer are usually a tactic for them to leech off as much money as possible to fill some quotas they have by making people come in the store. They rarely ever honor these and it doesn't work on almost 95% of all their items. Their idea is, customer spends so and so minutes long finding what they really want, then when they finally get to the register, the coupon doesn't work, but in some cases people will end up getting it anyway; Cha-Ching!

sorjai 12-21-2012 07:24 AM

thanks. Hopefully I can find stuff where the coupon applies.

This was hands down the Best Best Best Macy's ODS ever. The impulse clearance selection was huge, and was marked 65% off original, plus extra 40% off, plus extra 25% off morning special. Even though the coupon didn't apply, I bought about five $80-90 pieces of clothing for $7-10 each.

I did end up using the coupon, the fashion jewelry (cute betsey johnson stuff) clearance was all $7.99 each. I ended up getting four $60-80 betsey johnson necklaces as gifts for $32 - $10 = $22 (4.50 each).

Also, men's shoes clearance selection was fairly good (65% or more), plus $10 off. Sperrys for $16 (after coupon) were a steal.

You are welcome. There is nothing wrong with criticism towards the merchant. If you do not like it, do not read the posts. If you get confused easily maybe you shouldn't be so sensitive, as others in this thread have the same opinion as me.

dank5190 12-21-2012 11:26 AM

I always check these Macy's threads hoping someone will post something worth going for. Anyone get anything good? I have went in the past and found zero things I wanted that the coupon worked for. Rephrase: Anything I wanted that was a decent deal even with the coupon.

BuKWiLd 12-21-2012 11:30 AM

Not even worth it. probably valid on 3 items in the whole store.

No, can't stack them. You must chose one or the other. Of course, make sure you do a $25 order to use with the $10 off. If you have other things to buy, get newspapers and get more coupons. Continue to do other $25 orders in other depts. to maximize your savings.

vxica 12-21-2012 11:53 AM

Last time they had the 1daysale I bought a martini set for about $11 before coupon discount. I usually look at the clearance section in housewares and go to the children's section. I used 3 coupons in total and was with the same cashier. Good luck to you all and merry christmas!!!

mr7rizt4n 12-21-2012 12:12 PM

good deal but not good enough to make me go near my local macys located in giant mall by me this close to christmas...

"select home items"
Could they be more vague? Do those "select home items" have to be on sale/clearance in order to use the 10 off 25 coupon?

Essentially, yes. If the home item that you want is a "Super Buy", Everyday Values, or special, then it won't apply. There is a ton of fine print.

joerocket 12-21-2012 03:22 PM

just printed one out, and if i find myself in the store, i'll give this a shot. thanks op. repped.

also did not apply to the morning specials, girls coats were 75% off and would have been much sweeter with the 10/25 Q. One reason I hate Macy's promos

PandaBear168 12-21-2012 08:19 PM

I wonder why there are so many people crapping on the coupon, because in my experience, the Macys ODS are typically the best times to stock up on Macy's clothing. This coupon isn't going to work miracles and get you nice dress shirts for 5 dollars, but it does get you pretty good prices. Now I can't speak for the home goods section because I don't have much experience buying that during the one day sales, but over the last few months, I've spend a few hundred at Macys during the last 3 ODS on work clothes.

Here's my mini guide to buying frugally during the one day sales.

People saying it doesn't work on 95% of things are flat out exaggerating. It's more like doesn't work on 30-40% of the things. It's pretty easy to tell what it doesn't work on. Anything that's an EDV or a Morning special. They're clearly marked and if you can't read then don't blame Macys when you fail at the cash register.

The trick to maximizing savings with this coupon is to obviously buy things that are within 25-40 dollars. That'd make the actual % savings maximized.

For example, today I bought a nice thick sweater that was 24.99. Added a sock in the clearance section for 3 dollars and applied the coupon. It goes -9 on sweater and -1 on sock. If you're REALLY cheap you can return the sock later on, and essentially get a sweater for 16 bucks.

Some also say their prices overpriced and there are no deals to be had. But for example, it is pretty much the cheapest you can find a staple like Dockers D1 Khaki's for work. Usually online you'll see on the Dockers site their khakis for 30-35 dollars with discounts. At macys today it was 35, minus 10 coupon is 25 out the door. Over the last few months, the cheapest I've seen them aside from Macys ODS is with Kohl's at around 27-28, and you needed to buy 4. Similarly, their expensive and popular Alpha Khaki's line went to 45, down to 35 with the coupon during the last one day sale, which is pretty much as cheap as Alpha Khaki's get. For reference, they're about 55 dollars on Docker's site right now.

The best deals are finding their clearance racks that AREN'T morning specials. Today's ODS wasn't as great, as the clearance rack of dress shirts were MS. However, last month's ODS, I was able to find nice slim fitting dress shirts that discounted down to 10-17 dollars. You get two of those, or add on some accessory like socks or belt that you need, and use the coupon. You can get two dress shirts for around 10 bucks each. And these aren't cheap JCPenny/Ross boxy ugly dress shirts. They're decent fabric, slim cut, modern designs. My personal favorite that fit me best are their macy's brand Bar III shirts, but I also buy some others like Kenneth Cole, DKNY, CK, GB, etc.

So there you have it. It's not a magic super slick deal sale, but it's just about the best sale you can get for work clothes and other cheap 10-40 dollar purchases. It isn't great for big purchases like Suits/ heavy jackets, or nice shoes, where you're better off using flat % off coupons you get from macys rewards. But for small things, it's a nice sale. One woman in front of me who clearly knew how to score a slick deal bought hella ties for her whole office. You find them on clearance for 12-15, buy in multiples of 2, and you're basically getting good<10 dollar ties.

It is one time use...... As in, they have to save them and you can only use it once.

If you are smart, you print out multiple and take them in. The code on the coupon isnt one time use, the coupon itself is per transaction. Its technically one per customer if you bother to read the fine print, so technically its against the rules to do more but.....

I dont see how, unless its marking it on your account or something.

Did you print out multiple from yesterdays pdf file? Check the link in OP, the coupon bar code number at bottom changed.... Maybe thats why?

Thank you so much to all of those who thought this was a scam and avoided Macy's this morning so that I could make out with $331 worth of clothes for my son for $87. Much appreciated! :look:

SackaNub 12-22-2012 05:07 PM

Calvin Klein sweaters were 50% off but ringing at 65% off. They had a bunch ringing at $24.99. All Ecko items were ringing at buy 1 get 1 free even on clearance. I got 2 Ecko t-shirts plus the CK sweater for $22 out the door with the coupon (82% savings off retail price) . Did this 3 times with different styles. With the coupon I could've grabbed 8 Ecko tees for $18 but the sizes were too big for remaining inventory.

While I agree it seems there are a lot of exclusions, I made out like a bandit today. They had a huge selection of clearance items with discounts above what I was expecting at checkout. I got 4 nice tops for $18. Bought dress pants, 3 dress shirts and a tie for my son and saved $200 bucks between the discounts and the coupons. I was pleasantly surprised.

Oh and I did print out two coupons and used one in the mens dept and one in the womens Wish I printed another, the sales were that good. Thanks OP!
