Rebate issues:

Beware - TigerDirect sent out this product with a different UPC ending in 03 (instead of 10).
Rebate processor will most likely deny your claim, if so, call in to have it approved

I was able to convince rep to check against other submissions (she asked for specific tracking numbers, but I had her search TD-8067 and that worked). She noticed that several others also had UPC copies ending in 03 yet were approved. In turn, she then went ahead and approved mine.

Oh, alright. Also, Simple Mobile is a T-Mobile MVNO. Their primary 3G/"4G" (HSPA/HSPA+) bands are AWS 1700/2100. They are rolling out 1900mhz support in a few cities in preparation for their 2013 iPhone offering, but right now it's very limited. So the "3G-4G Network, 850MHz & 1900MHz Frequencies" is either a little misleading, or I don't understand what they're offering.

not for simple mobile they only have the monthly plans, they do have a 25 dollar 15 day talk & txt plan but doubt anyone gets that.

the $40 gives you unlimited talk/txt and 250mb 4gb data throttled after if you got a 4g tmobile phone. They will cut you off if you use too much data.

the $50 gives you unlimited talk/txt and 4g data. They say unlimited but it's not, if you do get cut off you won't get any data until the next month. They also won't tell you how much data is the cut off point. If you have your own data usage monitor you can do some testing though.

Does sound a lot better than simple mobile, I'm sure everyone would want to pay less for better service.

Ugh, some great plans out there now. Why the heck did I lock myself into a 2 year contract with Sprint...

Depending on what you're paying with sprint you could always break the contract and switch, in the long run you could be saving money.

Sell your sprint phone to get a tmobile phone.

I'm pretty sure it's all the same - just different price.

I bought a couple sims for international friends for 99cents from expansys-usa and they had it shipped for free and I think I got it after 3 days.

But if anyone is looking to buy the $40 plan, they also sell the epin which they send you in an email and you go and set up your sim card or just apply it to your account online for $38 instead of the $40. Link here [expansys-usa.com]

I'm on SERO, paying ~ $55/mo, and have 16 month left on the contract, so leaving wouldn't make much sense financially. I just like the flexibility of GSM, the fact that there's no contract, and the fact that GSM Nexus phones get updated right away, while I have to wait for months to get an update.

Agreed. I think SM will go *poof* in <12 months anyway.

  1. Tmobile postpaid
  2. Tmobile prepaid
  3. Tmobile gosmart
  4. Tmobile MVNO

You are now fourth in tower priority with SM / ST.

Proof? In my experience mvno's are are handled the same as prepaid customers

That is how they can get low prices. A Tmobile branded/run service getting the same priority as X MVNO? Priority is based on profitability; this is common sense. That makes SM/ST fourth now.

Thanks for that info.. I have to post paid TM lines with unlimited talk and text. Paying about $80 a month and about $18 of that is taxes and fees.. I think I will switch to that $30 a month plan. Are there any negatives of this new service? thnks

Would an AT&T iPhone 4 work well on Simple Mobile? Or do AT&T and T-Mobile use different frequencies?

if you get it factory unlocked it would work with simple mobile or go smart mobile but you would be stuck with edge speeds for internet. There are some areas where tmobile has the 1900 band up but it's not that great atm.

Thanks. I do have my iPhone 4 factory unlocked, but it sounds like I better go with Straight Talk to get 3G speeds.

I bought this...arrived in 3 days free shipping. I m guessing its the same exact sim.

Did anyone else receive a SIM with the UPC 013964025903 rather than 013964025910 as stated on the rebate and product page?

EDIT: Can someone please post / send me a copy of their UPC.

If anyone actually got this I'd appreciate it if you'd post a copy of your UPC, assuming you got the correct one. I'd rather not call them about a MM unless I have to.

The product page we ordered from lists the same UPC as the rebate. I printed my own UPC for the number on the rebate and it's sitting in the mailbox now. I'm going to grab it and wait a few more days and see if anyone else posts since I don't want to be the only one to send in a matching UPC.

EDIT: Just switched out the fake "correct" UPC and will be sending a copy of what I received.

Hey,

Yes, the UPC doesn't match the rebate registration form. The product page indicated it had UPC: 013964025910 and the one that came was 013964025903.

I'm going to take a shot and send in my rebates. I have a copy of the product page that says the UPC was supposed to be 013964025910, it's not our fault TigerDirect shipped us one with a different UPC.

Hey,

Just wanted to give you a heads up... one of my rebates for the Simple Mobile SIM Card received the "approved" status today. So, it looks like the rebate center knows about the varying UPC barcodes. :)

lex2 01-10-2013 12:06 PM

I also had the alternate UPC code ending in 03. Their email said I was denied because "I did not submit a UPC", so I called into their 800 number. You have to say "other" and then "representative" to get an operator.

After talking to a rep, she found that I did submit a UPC, however it didn't match up with the requirement. She said that there was nothing she can do since the UPC does not match and she confirmed with a supervisor. I told her that my "cousin" had the same problem with TigerDirect sending them the same product with UPC ending in 03, but they called in and had their rebate "approved".

I kindly asked if she can check against any other rebates with offer TD-8067 and she noticed many of them with UPC ending in 03 were approved. She added notes to my claim, saved them. Then went back and approved it, then it went through.

I asked what may have allowed others to be approved, she said there were nothing she can ascertain. However she said that the fact that I did indeed submit a UPC (when my denied claim email stated that I didn't), fulfilled the requirement for the rebate.

The key is to be really nice. Have the rep side with you and get the rebate approved. It's too easy to get upset and be argumentative, so avoid that at all costs.

Good luck!

lavapit 01-12-2013 03:39 AM

Also received an email stating that my rebate was approved even though it was the incorrect UPC. When I submitted I wrote on the rebate form the circumstances in regards to the UPC being different. I also called TD prior to submitted and they stated to submit that way and if it was denied to again contact TD to get it approved. TD stated that they now have a policy in place guaranteeing your rebate but it will just take a little longer. So if you have any problems when you contact the rebate processing company just contact TD. I have had to contact both places and each time they have been very understanding and taken care of any issues. Have always had rebates approved by calling after any denials. Just don't be a ****.

InfamousG 01-14-2013 06:28 PM

Just got an email stating denied. Feelsbadman, now probably gotta waste 20 min on phones for $10.

I got the same denial email as well. :(
After getting it, I emailed customer support stating what the issue was and after 2 days they replied saying send in another copy of the upc and a copy of the invoice. :shake:
Instead of playing cat and mouse on email I called the customer service number 1-800-286-9146 and talked with them. I told the customer service representative I had talked to tiger direct and they told me of the switch, and to call the rebate company to have it approved, and if they would not do it to call tiger direct back. She said all that was true and she would go ahead and approve the UPC, however for this rebate they had to have a Invoice copy not the Packing Slip that I sent in. She was even nice enough to contact Tiger Direct and have a copy sent straight to them, and she would have it all approved in 1 - 3 business days. :D

Funny story… During our conversation we talked about rude customers and people yelling at them for reasons beyond their control. She said if someone calls in and is extremely nice and funny that she'll be more than happy to do everything she can to approve their rebate, but if they call screaming, cussing, etc. that she'll basically give them a very very hard time.
