Wow, great price!

384 CUDA cores
128-bit memory interface
1GB of DDR5 video RAM.

In this day and age this is a good card for most but not for hard core gamers, not anymore. This thing couldn't hack some of the video needs of a lot of high end games, not on high settings. A great video upgrade for improved graphics though if you got a new fancy LED monitor.

I dont think thats anything people dont know. :P Of course an $80 video card is not for hardcore gaming. With that said, it all depends on what res' you play at and quality settings. I play Assassins Creed 3, Hitman 3, and Diablo 3, I have no problems on my GTX 650.

beta. 12-24-2012 11:00 PM

Relative performance compared to something like a gtx 460 http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Pr...542?vs=681 aside from being a cooler running card, smaller and saves more power along with support for newer dx effects, the performance just isn't worth the $80 price tag it's asking TBH.

Isn't that card a whole lot more expensive too?

You'd be surprised how many read these and don't have a clue. They see video card, price, but don't know anything about the rest.

GoldenTiger 12-24-2012 11:29 PM

Solid deal on a solid card for most people's needs so long as they don't expect 2560x1600 max-setting TXAA-enabled OMG LMNOP-level settings :). And, free AC3 with it.... insane deal.

OsirisDev 12-25-2012 12:16 AM

Wow I got my GTX 460 two years ago for about $60 after rebates and it still beats this card in performance.

iluvu4eternity 12-25-2012 12:22 AM

im just happy i got my gtx 480 for 100$ almost a year ago from a seller on ebay. best price ever considering how you cannot get that price even today. i guess everyone was on vacation that night and didnt bid :D

kablam0r 12-25-2012 12:28 AM

Man, i got my Voodoo2 SLI like 15 years ago for $500 and it still beats this card in performance. I get crazy framerates in Hexen and Rise of the Triad!

Ps3Rules 12-25-2012 12:33 AM

Great price for those looking for a power efficient card. And with its small size it's a perfect card for cramped cases or oem pcs.

Now, if only the 650 ti would drop in price, I'd jump all over that.

compared to 5670 ATI 1GB GDDR5 is the 650 GTX better? and what's the power requirements

Danzilla 12-25-2012 03:27 AM

Good deal if you can flip the AC3 coupon from Newegg for $20 or so (or are looking to play it), just okay from Amazon at $80 with no AC3.

Depends on what else you're running of course.. think 4xx W minimum IMO... and yes, a definite step up from your 5670, though still not high-end.

Q6600 in which case its prob not gonna make a huge difference any ways, 6gb of ddr 2 also..

b13 12-25-2012 04:11 AM

just fyi:: Average selling price for the coupon on ebay is 17$ to 19$ so after listing fees, closing fees, seller fees/

you are looking to score about $12-$13 for it

I am confused. How is this so hot when it is not faster than the 550 Ti and definitely slower then the HD 7770, both of which we have seen in the $70 range? Unless so many people need one right now?

ACIII game. I'm using this as a backup card / physx card.

gooddog 12-25-2012 07:04 AM

Wasn't GTX 650 on sale for 70 dollars AR during the BF-CM period?
80 bucks for 128 bit GDDR5 is a good price but nothing remarkable however.

I have built 7-8 desktops and have 5 laptops but have a lot of trouble understanding the specs on these vid cards. I believe the manufactures do it on purpose just to sell the cards. A $20 card is going to be crappy. A $100 card is going to be OK. A $350 card is going to be good. A $650 card is going to be great. Most people understand this more than reading XGB memory of GDDRX type and bla bla bla cores and so on. The reviews on the cards help a lot more than the specs to a person buying a card once every few years.

jottect 12-25-2012 07:22 AM

I got the MSI 650 GTX OC version for $70 AR + Assassin's Creed and Shogun games on BF.
Got the rebate already, sold games for $25 and the card is working fine.
If you missed that deal, and you really need a video card now... this deal it is ok.

Relativity. You don't need a 1.2kw psu to push a 650.

BababooeyHTJ 12-25-2012 07:41 AM

Not a bad deal for 5770 level performance. Would make for a nice htpc card due to its very low power consumption.

MrBlackFriday 12-25-2012 08:18 AM

My old Radeon 4850 plays most games on high settings in a computer with 2gb of Ram and a dual core. Paying high prices for PC builds and graphics cards today if you want to "game" just means your throwing money away and shows ignorance.

And paying $60 for a console game is a smart thing too? Some console games are still $50 while they are $9.99 for pc You can get a better gaming rig for about $100 more than what the top xbox 360 sells for and that comes with DX11, can consoles do that??

Anywho... The biggest reasons for anyone to get this card is for the pcix 3.0 and the power requirements. This card max is 64 watts. The card was made for systems that you can plug in without having to upgrade your psu. It's also dx11.
If you are a casual gamer that plays games and doesn't mind a slight lower graphic experience other than 1080 I would look into this card.Granted the resolutions that this card supports is way higher than 1080, but you will never be able to run the current hardcore games on that res, maybe some older dx9 games though. For a current generation card with a free game you are picking this thing up for $50 more or less depending on the price of the game. This card also supports blue ray so this is a really good HTPC/Arcade card. For all the people ranting about their 2-3 year old video card being better, most are right, but also had the added cost of having to get a bigger, more expensive psu and a larger electric bill every month.

Pokekil 12-25-2012 09:00 AM

the hd7770 is a much better card at 80 dollars. I dont know why few people considered it when it was $70-90 6 months ago.

Requires a 550 psu compared to a 400 for the 650
Pci x 2.1 vs 3.0 for the 650
If you are looking for a cheap build check 400 vs 550 power supplies, if you can handle the extra cost go for the radeon. If you are looking for lower electric bills and current generation (3.0 vs 2.1) motherboards, go for the 650. I never understood why people get a later generation technology if the costs are about the same between the two. True, on the top end a 3.0 board is a lot more cash than a 2.1, but entry level, which is what you are looking for, is about the same cost with upgraded hardware. At the rate in which computers are evolving, getting last gen tech is now like taking 2 steps back...

If anyone wants to know the relative performance of a card, a GREAT resource is www.futuremark.com . This is not a very good deal considering this is not the 650 TI, which is a much faster card and almost this same price. As someone else mentioned, if price/performance is your goal, the 7770 is a far better deal, and if size is your goal (since this card's form factor is intended for ITX applications) you should hang around for a 650 TI deal, possibly at a similar price. You won't be dissapointed!

Umm, ive never seen a 650 Ti for $80 and I see them all....... A 7770 is definitely faster than the GTX 650, but its not all that much faster. One time during BF there was a 650 Ti for $110 I believe it was...Thats still not $80 with a free game.

Yeah, and if you wait a little more everything else goes down, and then wait a little more it will go down again. Video cards are so tight in prices now that $30 makes a big difference. The point is, my 660TI 3gb is $40 cheaper than when I bought it 2 months ago, so it doesn't really matter when you buy because it will be cheaper sooner than later. I could of bought the 670 now for the same price of my card now, the point is you have to jump on something sooner or later.

CenerHimself 12-25-2012 10:30 AM

Overkill....Still a great small sized card with low power consumption as well. But ya, you should be looking at something in the $20-40 price range.

SonicTron 12-25-2012 10:37 AM

How would this card compare in adobe premiere / after effects rendering performance compared to a 660 - 670 card?

Agreed, but it would help with photoshop if you have a monitor that supports 4096x2160.

No. 560 ti blows it out of the water somewhat in terms of performance. Plus 560 ti can be SLIed, while the 650 cannot.
650 uses much less power consumption though.

i wouldnt define a hardcore gamer by his video card. a great gamer is so much more than that. secondly, i dont think i would have problem maxing out eye candy on this card since my tv only does 1080p anyway, as i dont like to game on a tiny 24" screen.

I couldnt tell by looking at it. It would need to have an open PCI-Express slot......if the mobo has that, then I dont see why not.... It would also need to be two slots available since these cards are double slot.

I don't see why not. The one it has (HD7560D) is integrated, so it should have a slot open for this.
The power supply for this PC is 300W, should be fine with this card.

Can't tell, it does have a pci x lane but it doesn't say how big your psu is. Even if the psu is big enough a lot of hp's have power supplies made only to fill the needs of the unit it's built for. In other words, if it does meet the 400 watt requirements it might not have the cables to connect it.

The power requirement for this card is 400 watts. I know a lot of companies use a buffer just in case you have more than 1 optic drive/external hdd, but 100 watts is a little much to say that it will work ok. Also, where did you see that? I couldn't find that anywhere...just curious.

Yes it will. It has a short footprint of a low-profile card which is necessary for that motherboard of that model. If it were a longer card it would bump into the RAM slots and may not fit but this card should fit in just fine.

Did a quick google search on the HP model, the psu is listed on the HP website.

http://www.overclockerscave.com/i...benchmarks

300 Watts is fine for the specs he listed.

In most cases a video card isn't going to use a full 400W. The recommendations for 400W is a be all/end all recommendation for power consumption so your system on the whole has enough when this card is in use. But for the most part, it will not use 400W total unless completely maxed out and running under some sort of stress test. It most likely will use 150-180W at most, maybe bumping up to 200W.

JETFIRE714 12-25-2012 11:57 AM

how does this compare to the PNY 550ti they have at frys for $68 AR?

thanks in advance

JP

falleng0d 12-25-2012 11:57 AM

A 400watt rating is for the entire system, not the card by itself.

Also, a PSU rated at 300watts doesnt necessarily mean it has 300watts of usable power either. Just be careful. I doubt with this video card it would be a problem, but unless the PSU is a quality made name brand, it may not even do 300watts. A 300watt PSU is pretty low end for any decent system. Running anything close to max useable wattage is never a good or smart idea.

A gtx 650 is faster, but not by much. On the positive side, EVGA beats shitty PNY any day and it is of course a smaller card, uses less power and produces less heat.

In all cases it wouldn't use that much power, they usually give the buffer due to system specs like I mentioned and crappy power supplies that don't have the amps on the 12v rail to sustain it. So if they bump the watts you have a better chance of the 12v rail being within the limits. For the life of me I still can't see on the website that it comes with a 300 watt psu. A lot of proprietary builds that aren't a gaming pc come with a 250 watt, that's why I asked. Even if it did come witha 300, does that particular psu come with a 6 pin? As stated earlier, most of these builds have the psu built just for the right amount of leads. Being this comes stock with an intergrated vpu I would double check that this psu has the extra 6 pin lead and can support the amps on 12v rail before saying that it is absolute. :bulb:

Very comparable. You probably would not notice the performance difference in everyday usage. Now power consumption wise the 650 card will perform far more efficient and better than the 550 card.

Well, 7770 is faster for sure. But, with the AC3 this comes with, sell that for at least $20, brings the price down for this Evga card to more along the $60AR range.... You wont find a 7770 for that.

Ahh ok, you're more referring to the PSU itself than whether the card can work with what you have currently. Do you know if your PSU has a 6 or 8 pin PCI-E power connector? EVGA cards may require that.

So far I've never had anyone do that so perhaps I'm fortunate.

I write no returns due to the nature of this product as a one time activation code, block all problematic bidders, and profit.

Not sure what would actually happen if someone with good feedback tries to return it after using the code, maybe someone who has experience in that can comment?

Just finally found out that it has a 300 psu. Ok, based on specs it should run it, but the hp website doesn't say anything about having an extra 6 pin. Before jumping into a conversation please read the posts, this isn't for me, but for rumstocker. Rumstocker doesn't want to add a new power supply if this is the case based on his POST. Why, don't know, maybe he doesn't feel comfortable about replacing a psu unlike some people here. Maybe he is strapped for cash, maybe he likes to spend his cash on other things. This is why he came here, to ask. Unless you know for sure that it will work, because I don't see, from the resources available to me and experience of building computers, don't jump in and say yes unless you can back it. There still is the amp rating and if there is enough room to acomadate a double slot card. The length shouldn't be a problem being it isn't a micro tower. Most lower end cards that require only one lead only need a 6 pin, well in nvidia's case that would be the case.

You will want to read up on some guides/FAQs to selling on ebay first.
Imo get an ebay account, set up paypal (I only allow paypal payments because it is an extra layer of security for me).
Once you are done with that, search through other listings for what you want to sell, and tailor your own to look like that. Read through how other people are sending their codes out, and follow suit.

Since this is your first time, be patient and learn all details of selling on ebay before jumping in. If you find it too much work you can always put it on craigslist :D

Caleo 12-25-2012 01:02 PM

"650" is a misleading number for this card. In the past, differences between cards have had a somewhat decent measure of performance, by that I mean:

The "Popular" cards (good price/performance) being GTX 460, 560 and 660.. step up in performance between each generation. Then you've got the 550 vs the 460 (the 550 is typically 20-30% worse), but then comparing the 650 to the 460 and it's like the same damn story. The 650 is ~20-30% worse performance wise than the GTX 460! This puts it at VERY significant loss compared to the GTX 660.

We're talking about the 650 only being able to put out ~30-40% of the framerates that a GTX 660 can!

Wanna play skyrim @ 1920x1200? You can expect about 90fps on the 660... 30 on the 650.

4 The GeForce GT 620 (OEM) card is a rebranded GeForce GT 520.

The benchmarks speak for themselves. These 650s can't even measure up to my 2+ year old GTX 460.

When you get the program you will see that you can set fan speed based on vpu temps. The program has defaults just like the card has defaults but if you aren't comfortable with the stock settings this is when these settings come into play.

You can actually have this card (as well as any evga card) @100% if you wanted, not that I would reccomend it.

Shows it about on par as far as hierarchy goes.

http://www.videocardbenchmark.net..._gpus.html

Shows that it outperforms the GTX 650. Though the 650 may consume less power, it gets outperformed by the older GTX 460.

I know what the benchmarks state, I was merely referring to the re-branding. I've other sources to cite if necessary that states that the GTX 460 shelves the GTX 650.

The 650 was never made to replace the 460, it's a different class of card, not everyone is a hardcore gamer, it does a good job for what it was made for, video, video editing, photoshop and low/mid range (depending on computer setup). Also, there is 3 types of 460's which is night and day as far as gamers are concerned.

Why dont you just buy it for like $20 instead of the hassle. But im sure you could get your money back for it and end up with the game for free.... Is it really worth it though?

hi five!
what a silly game lol... RoT... although it was interesting with the "hand of god" mode.
rise of the triad... and nary an asian enemy in sight...

this video card will play very nicely for a wide range of things. will pair up VERY nicely with gtx670 for physx, too.

i have 670+460 and you know what... I don't really use it for anything. the game I play most? orcs must die 2 and FTL. those two games require the processing power of.... intel hd 3000?

For all the people ranting about their 2-3 year old video card being better, most are right, but also had the added cost of having to get a bigger, more expensive psu and a larger electric bill every month.

http://www.geforce.com/hardware/d...ifications

There are tons of games that cost even $5 not to mention $10 brand new sealed that are available online that come actually on a DISC rather than a stupid download that most likely what you are referring to.
I got BF3 beginning of this year for less than $20 after price matching best buy's website on sears, and the game plays great on the PS3. At least with consoles there are no worries of always having to upgrade the graphics card like it does with PC computers.
Im not pc hater at all, I use my desktop and played tons of hours on it playing unreal tournament, modern warfare 1 and so on, but in my personal gaming on consoles is much better than gaming on a pc. Plus using a mouse on first person shooters on a computer is a lot more easier than using a controller on a console, I used to not like it because it was really hard it but I got used to it and I cant complain at all. I got 10 straight kills on my PS3 on battlefield using a controller.

lol, you might as well play the lotto because that will never happen. The $70AR price tag was a black friday and cyber monday special. If you dont see it for $70AR again today, it aint happening. 7770's are normally $100 on sale, and normally $120-130 not on sale.

Can I assume you're wanting to take advantage of the Mercury Engine when video encoding? If so, Premiere is the only one that is picky about using CUDA specifically, AFAIK.

Here's a good resource that took a look at the different GeForce cards and their Mercury performance.

Very comparable as far as performance goes however the 650 will use less power to perform about the same.

In this day and age this is a good card for most but not for hard core gamers, not anymore. This thing couldn't hack some of the video needs of a lot of high end games, not on high settings. A great video upgrade for improved graphics though if you got a new fancy LED monitor.

I love posts like these because they basically contribute nothing. What do you expect for $80?

The only reason manufacturers put "400W-500W minimum" recommendations is because some OEM PSUs are terrible or people buy $20-30 500W PSUs and expect them to be good.

I've ran HD7970 @ 1200mhz + i7 @ 3.9 ghz both loaded to 99% in computing projects on a 550W PSU. No problem. The quality of a PSU matters a lot more than its rating. The rating certainly matters but you can have a better 450W PSU better than a 700W cheap one.

You could just get the 670 for the same price. It would probably perform better, and you'd still have free slots. Don't have to be an expert to compute, 670 = 1344 CUDA Cores. 650 = 384 CUDA Cores * 3 = 1152. 1344 > 1152. Why bother?

True, but the thing is everyone says console is better. Is it really? Are you really saving money with a console? Most people that have a console also have a pc, but it's not the same the other way around. If you had nothing right now and had to buy, would you buy both? Most people buy off the shelf pc's even though you can build one cheaper and way better for the same money, but we won't get into that now, just pointing it out.
Ok, you buy a pc today for around $450. This will get you a pc with a way better cpu than any console. Now you get a video card for around the same price as a console and you are leaps and bounds better than any console. Why is that? Because consoles are old, running old dx9 machines yet you suckers (mean that in a non-insulting way) are still paying for games that are years outdated. So buy a crappy pc for e-mail, it will be at least $300, get a console, $250?, games alot more $$ on console and outdated graphics while you have pc titles 2 generations ahead and cheaper, and with HDTV's now you don't need a seperate monitor!!
Now if I had a game disk for ever game I had I would need an entertainment center. My steam account( same name) alone has 113 games, (not to mention how many I will get for $5 this week) and I also have origin, d2d, gmg, gog ,thq accounts. This is on top of the one's I already have hard copies for, hard copies scratch. First time I used steam was for Half Life 2, was like "this blows" until the day I had a computer crash and had to reinstall but the disck were scratched. No worries, click install on steam and viola!!
So on a space standpoint, digital dl is better for space purposes as well as enviromntal. It does suck that you can't resell your game though.
I do have to thank the consoles for one thing though, for keeping prices down on pc's because they haven't released anything new the pc industry can't charge as much as they used to.
BTW: My kids have xbox 360 so I am not a hater of consoles, it's just dollar for dollar pc's are a better buy.
And if you can't get a 10 kill streak on pc you miht as well stop gaming!!! LOL.. Happy Holidays!!:lmao:

Every one have their own preferences, but like I mentioned - there are tons of games that costs a few bucks these days{$5-$10} max for brand new sealed games. Some may be even newer games, some maybe from 6 months ago, some from last year, but really - do it matter how old a game is? I look at it this way - if I never played a certain game - and that game was released even a year ago - if Im just playing it now - for me its considered a new game and a lot of people would agree on that as well.
But how is me getting Battlefield 3 beginning of this year for less than $20 shipped for a brand new sealed game for the PS3 was an outdated game???
As far as a selection when it comes to DL titles, yes the PC does have an advantage on that and prices are cheaper - but they are cheaper for a reason.
Any how - majority of people that have consoles keep their video games nicely and arranged in their room, including myself.
As far as the a 10 kill streak - like I mentioned - PC's are much easier to play first person shooter games, when compared it to a console FPS - it actually looks like cheating, so if I get a 10kill streak on a console - its safe to say that on a PC ill get double and like I mentioned earlier but seems like your too blind to read - I use to play tons of hours on the PC playing UT and MW1.

Other than:
Insulting me ( I'm not blind obviously) and showing that it is ok to play old games(graphically) because console hasn't moved foward.
Telling me you have all the time in the world to polish your gaming shrine. (congrats on not having a life!)
Yes, actually, it does matter how old a game is, unless you have a ps3...
I never played qbert, doesn't mean it's a new game to me, sorry...

So what I get from you is that you are perfectly happy with playing games in dx9 mode while the rest of the computer gaming community are on dx11 with better/higher resolution graphics for the same price? I don't understand why you try to bash me? Is it jealousy because you got hosed by sony by buying a system which was outdated 6 months after it came out? I don't know, I simply tried to point out a few things, added some humor, even added some smileys. Just remember when you have to buy a new system in another year I can still play all my games that I have bought since 1998 on this computer. Can you say the same for your console? Don't hate because I am right...

Ok listen - who is talking about games from 1998? Yes the consoles as of now dont have the best graphical powers compared to what pc computers have - but guess what - consoles dont have removable video cards like PC computers - thats one, 2nd point - consoles costs much more cheaper than pc computers that are built fully to play the latest games on high settings.
At least when a new game comes out like black ops 2 that just came out or even battlefield 3 which is "outdated" in your terms - but either one of these 2 will play on the PS3 in a smooth enjoyable way, and to get that same enjoyable experience graphically - you need to have a $100+ video card at least, especially to play BF3.
Guess what - for $200 dollars - I got a brand new PS3 with 4 brand new sealed games and a controller from amazon shipped, and dont need to worry about adding any ram or buying a capable video card to play Black Ops 2 which I just bought brand new sealed for $37 shipped from go hastings. You tell me what other online sellers like the ones u mentioned earlier have Black Ops as DLC 2 for such a low price as you speak highly off - umm let me guess - no one.
So really - stop being a p.c fan boy - every true gamer knows when it comes to gaming - buying a console is the ultimate choice.
I have nothing against computers - stop making this looking its console vs pc. Just saying that for people who are on the budget - which is why this whole thread was made of - console gaming is the way to go.

That's your opinion, not a well known fact. I don't find 30 fps, with mediocre graphics playable
or enjoyable on a console. But that is my opinion.

There's a paper certificate packed in the Newegg shipping box amongst all the filler paper. Roughly 3" x 5".

Also, I can confirm there is not HDMI Mini cable or adapter, just the DVI-VGA adapter and power adapter cable.
