LG lm6700 and lm7600 misleading refresh rates.
 

Just for anyone that was thinking of purchasing a LG LM6700 and/or a LM7600 model.

Please be aware you are not purchasing a 120hz or a 240hz panel but actually 60hz and 120hz panel with simulated effects to become double their regular refresh rates.

As per cnet.com review on these units:

"The main difference between this LG and the step-up LM7600 series is refresh rate: 120Hz on the 6700 and 240Hz on the 7600 (the latter also gets a dual-core processor). According to LG, the LM6700 uses a 60Hz panel with a scanning backlight for what the company calls "Black Dimension Insertion" and claims is a 120Hz effect. The LM7600 has a 120Hz panel, which combined with a scanning backlight equals, per LG, 240Hz."

There are other forums talking about this misleading thing avsforums guruhd, please be aware of what you are actually buying before buying it!

People have personally contacted LG and they do not mention the actual refresh rate but just actually the LG's "TRUMOTION refresh rate" never just refresh rate itself.

Thanks! Great to know! Although now I know I was chipped, I must say this is still one of the best led tv I've ever owned. Performance and visual wise.
For 1400 (last year) I was given 3d blu ray player and 6 pairs of 3 d glasses from amazon, 12 months of free Netflix subscription from lg, and on top if that I get to watch version fios using the built in fios app, which means I don't have to rent an hd set top box!

Yes most 2D and 3D TVs have this type of implementation, giving them different proprietary technology brands, but this is common amongst the TV providers, not just LG.

samsung and sony do not use this method fyi, so their 240 panels are actually 240hz panels rather than faux 240 hz.

People are under the impression LG tvs advertised at 240hz such as the 7600 is actually a 240hz panel which it isn't.

It's called MotionFlow for Sony. It's called Auto Motion Plus or Clear Motion for Samsung. Read more about Motion interpretation [wikipedia.org] here.

And to counter further, more information on refresh rates [rtings.com]. Just know that if the TV company employs these proprietary technologies then yeah you're not going to get the "real" refresh rate and it is probably some lower common denominator of the real refresh rate.

Menace... I am talking about 240hz PANEL

Sony has 240hz panel which has capabilities of doing 480hz motionflow and beyond.

Samsung has 240hz panel which has capabilities of doing 480hz clear motion and beyond.

HOWEVER unfortunately LG markets their "240hz" panel as true 240hz panels when they are not. Best buy puts the actual refresh rate on the price tags, and all the tvs with 240hz refresh rates has 240hz on the price tag even the lm7600 with the faux 240hz. Please do understand the difference Menace, I don't believe you understand.
