Is $160 for 256GB M4 a good deal?
|
Yea it's a good deal and a good drive. Someone can correct me if they have found it cheaper but I bought mine a few months ago on a FP deal and I paid more around $180 I believe.
I'm thinking about jumping on the 64GB 3.0 flash drive...I know it's not the best one out there but does anyone think it's an ok deal for the price? |

it would be a good deal if it is the 7mm version (CT256M4SSD1) since it would be fit in most recent ultrabooks. |

What do you guys think of the 32GB microSD with USB 3.0 reader? I'm thinking of using it as a USB stick but with an added bonus of transferring files to my tablet. No Amazon reviews as of yet.
http://www.amazon.com/Lexar-micro...MQHWYASDFQ Edit: how does that compare to the Sandisk card with the "Micromate" reader bundle [amazon.com]? The Micromate [amazon.com] seems to be USB 2.0. Anyone used the Sandisk? Attachment 1686582 Attachment 1686584 |
The Lexar JumpDrive TwistTurn 32GB USB Flash Drive for $16 is a great deal for those who need one:

Haven't priced or tested any SSD lately. How does this compare to the Samsung 830 or 840 pro in terms of speed and reliability?
|
In at $128 or $256. :)
|
saw the email this morning and decided to click it.. turned out the email showed a higher price. I saw the 159.99 and jumped on it like a cowboy on a horse.
|
I REALLY wanna pick up one of the 256 gb SSD's but i'm just weary.. Plus I have other stuff I'm looking for
|
Good price for an excellent SSD.
|
It's really not a bad deal.. if it was a bit lower I'd be in... but I cant justify it at the moment.

In day-to-day operations, you wont tell the difference. The samsung performs slightly better when I couple it with a thunderbolt adapter. Some USB 3 controllers/enclosures, I've seen a very slight advantage but in day-to-day operations, I can't really tell. I get my 7 second boot times, 2 second Photoshop launches. I can copy 30GB files to and from SSDs in a minute and a half. I'm running all the SSDs as boot OS. My recommendation is to get the one with the best price currently. |
i am using one myself for more than half a year. everything is fine! :D

Im in the same boat, need to know how fast is this..

ill throw in my two cents. I bought this earlier in the month at the same price its been great so far. I know people like to hear about long term reliability but i havent had any problems with it. I use it as my boot up drive and its insanely fast compared to my HDD.

Proud owner of 2 of these (256GB), including one that this PC I'm typing on is currently using. Have had absolutely no problems with them. Bought one for my brother, and he had a few BSODs, but it seems that he updated the firmware and has had no problems since. These are a personal favorite (especially after having dealt with the early OCZ ones). I've been using one for about a year now, btw.
|
I have M4 and 830 drives in laptops and desktops - they perform the same. Buy whatever is on deal.

Have run 128gb for over 1 year as my base OS and gaming with all other apps installed on sata drive and storage on that drive as well. no complaints, make sure to update firmware.
|
pm to staples and use a 25 off coupon makes it 146 after tax. burn some rewards to make it even cheaper.
|
Only real difference I can see is the m4 is made in China and the Samsung is made in Korea. I own both and both are fast. Though in osx, there were moments when the m4 stutter. I have not see this on the Samsung. Personally I would get the made in Korea just so I don't give the Chinese too much support. : )

They even relabel products as made in another country and export to US. No escaping cheap chinese stuff. |
Just placed an order for the Lexar Professional 400x 64GB UDMA7 CF Card. Can anybody share with us about the performance of the card with Canon 5D Mark III? Thanks.

Is this the type that you can continue to use your stock HDD for data and this for OS? Sorry mind went blank so I forgot what type you call it.
Answered my own question. No this is not mSATA. |
is $349 a good price to pay for the 512gb one?
fyi - i plan to put this ssd into a 2010 macbook pro that only supports sata ii |

Lexar Professional 400x 64GB UDMA7 CompactFlash CF Card @ Amazon $85, 128GB for $170
65535 Attachment(s)
Lexar Professional 400x 64GB UDMA7 CompactFlash Card LCF64G-400-1050 = $85
Click here [amazon.com] Lexar Professional 400x 128GB UDMA7 CompactFlash Card LCF128-400-1050 = $170 Click here [amazon.com] This has been posted before in another thread but I feel the title does not mention anything about Compact Flash cards and will easily be missed by others. The price might be "right" for the capacity but you are getting a top of the line brand. Just two weeks ago, I got the Transcend 32GB from B&H and am already thinking of returning it. A review here [photography-on-the.net] suggests that the 400x lexar professional lives up to its reputation. On the other hand, the 400x transcend could be a Hit or Miss [photography-on-the.net] |
solid drives, but I still think they are overpriced. I would be in for one @ $100 for a 256
|
And here I just ordered the 180GB Intel 520 from Best Buy for $130 on Monday. This seems like a better deal to just pay the additional $21 after tax to get the 256GB M4 instead. Looks like the Intel one will be returned after it's delivered today.

thanks for pointing this out OP! just as you mentioned, I didn't catch it buried in the other thread. I had another deal alert notify me of that one too!

I recommend visiting another site for getting speeds and then I normally do a price per GB for CF cards and then purchase. CF cards have historically been faster when it comes to real usage. However, I try to purchase 32GB or 16GB cards rather than the monsters because the smaller cards are normally faster.

also, 45mbps write is more than what i need for my cropped sensor camera |
Agree minghi, and now after further review, I am jumping on this.
Costs: Lexar 1000x @ $4.X/GB Compareable SD card: SanDisk Extreme Pro 95MB/s 16GBl @ $2.52/GB. This card is $1.33/GB and is faster than the Extreme Pro above. |

I decided to jump on the Lexar JumpDrive S73 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive.
Been wanting one, and seems like the worst amazon reviews just say it's slower than advertised. Some people say theirs died, which is typical for flash drives, but it does come with a three-year warranty. May be able to find some opinions on the old buydig deal thread http://slickdeals.net/f/5049720 |
nice deal. just bought one.
|
Aren't the Lexar 800x better value? I am thinking it is almost same price as 400x
Edit: Nevermind....my mistake. I was looking at the 32GB vs. the 64GB - not the same. |
Thanks, egar!
|
Lexar 64GB USB 3.0 flash drive is now "Usually ships within 3 to 4 weeks."

I realize this is probably an impossible request, but I'm open to far-fetched ideas. I have about $160 in Office Depot rewards. Is there some way to convince them to pricematch to Amazon? (I know their terms say they won't do it)
You won't find it by searching their website, but they do in fact sell this ssd: http://www.officedepot.com/a/prod...nal-Solid/ |
This SSD is prob not 7mm version but 9mm correct???
|
Got it for 140$ at staples after PM with amazon and 25 off coupon. Can't wait to get my hands on it.

I remember in an older Samsung 830 they were talking about "cheaper" types of NAND (TLC?) that was not as reliable. Does this m4 drive have that, or the other kind?
Thanks! |

Get this or keep intel 520?
Really need help guys! Got the intel 520 180GB for $139 (incl. tax) at BB. Question is, should I keep that drive or get this crucial with higher memory and return the intel to BB?
From what I am gathering, intel probably has slightly better reliability than crucial, you guys think that should be enough to justify keeping the intel? |
Quote:
Intel deal was $0.77 per GB Crucial deal is $0.63 per GB That series of drives from intel is supposed to be quite good, but I imagine it would be hard to notice a difference in performance on the day to day. |

does it come with 5 years warranty or sth like that?

Just want to mention that my drive (m4 256GB) runs very well with the newest firmware 040H [crucial.com]. The version before it received horrendous reports, especially from users with UEFI BIOSs. The previous stable version was 000F. Relevant thread [crucial.com].
