Is there any chance you could post another picture of your receipt with the item number and name? I have the same tv in stock in my local Bestbuy but the price is a little higher than $706.99. I am wondering if I can perform a price match on the same tv at my local BestBuy since the tv doesn't show on the link you posted. Thanks.

thewndrr 12-29-2012 03:27 PM

I scored the 46" version of this one at my local BB for $799, the 55" was $899 which is still a good deal IMO but just too big the room I was putting it in. Props to you for finding it at that price.

Sorry here is the way to get to the change store link. At top of page click on shops/deals link. Drop down box will say Instore clearance open box items. You should see the store selected off to left and a link to change store click that and you'll be able to search your stores.

Deal2go 12-29-2012 03:40 PM

i searched 9 stores in my state , none has this, they hav 46 inch but not 55 inch smart tv in samsung brand.

I needed samsung or sony brand 55 inch smart TV.

When they ring it up, it will come up at the clearance price, and then it will prompt them to adjust the price down for open box. Which means, they scan the tag... it comes up $706, and you argue with them if they try to price adjust it up :D Or just ask them for a price check and give them the sku, then say "well, you have an open box for double the price" and they should give it to you for another 10% off

Call corporate and ask them to ship one from another store to you or your store since you already got order confirmation.

Repslol 12-29-2012 05:32 PM

If the price online shows 899 can it be pm to 706?

Why would you call corporate for that? They'll just tell you it's a deleted SKU and they don't transfer deleted items... transfers are done on a store level and not a corporate level, so corp would just refer you to the store anyway. Either way, if it's still on the site but in reality OOS, it's just a stock error or miscount on the display. Best thing to do is go in store and take a look for yourself, probably a display.

Chitown021 12-29-2012 05:41 PM

Thanks for the heads up OP but no go in my area. I bought the Black Friday "no frills" version of this TV for almost the same price. I think I'm still within the return timetable so I would have taken mine back had I found one.

The closest I came in my search was a 55" Samsung Smart TV (no 3D) but they wanted $1,049.99.

sasha9 12-29-2012 05:43 PM

Just got back from BB.with a Brand new in the box 55" Samsung for $636.00 plus tax.. Your best bet is to take the SCU number to Best Buy. Have them look it up on their computer. If you see a store that has one on hand, then your in luck. Look around the menu and if you see a store that has a lower price, even if they have 0 on hand, go to the store that has it in stock and they will price match to the store with the lowest price. Not all BB's are posting this TV in their clearance section. The average clearance price was $899.00 in the Chicagoland region.

whats typical is the SD response that an employee got the deal when something is cancelled or not available, when probably most employees don't even make enough to get these deals or care for them. Overall, its poor inventory management. Someone might have bought one, something was wrong, returned it for an exchange and some rookie didn't process it right for inventory to update correctly to reflect the swap out, etc. But such a logical answer is unheard of here, just easier to say the status quo...employee got the deal :facepalm2:

Clearance items should always be new in the box, otherwise they fall under the heading "open box "

yes, otherwise the item would be in open box. Do expect human errors though for some items as they can be counted as the wrong type of inventory. NIB could be open box or display due to an error or inventory is off and they cancel the order cause somehow the systems are not truly in synch.

Mine was brand new unopened.

If you find it for 899$ can you get BB to match it from an out of state BB?

hwalker84 12-29-2012 07:46 PM

Found one but its showing $899. Is it even worth it over my Visio xvt553sv?

Does anyone know if I could price match this tv in store, assuming they have the tv in stock and not on sale?

definitely YMMV on a manager price matching another BB store within their district and if they do, they will typically do so if the other store has it in stock. If another store has a lower price and OOS, more ammunition to turn down a price match on a clearance item.

I usually just say, ok hold on a second while I call them and have them OMS it... and they'll just PM it on the spot as opposed to doing it that way, because either way I'll get the lowest price :lmao:

Not gonna fly across 5 states though lol

+1 to that question, just ordered one but it's listed as $899.99. Still a great price but $694.99 would make this insane!

thats the full array LED right?

If so...shadow detail and screen uniformity will be better on the Vizio

The Samsung will be "brighter and punchier" and have better motion processing

Short answer

No..I wouldnt switch

Not there no more since I've already bought it at the time they've already close (10:14pm) so probably the store's inventory was not up to date, I meant the minute... and I'm setting it up now ;)

What's the best price on the 46" out there?

My local stores have the identical model in 46" for $999
Model: UN46D6900W SKU: 2121725

Also, one for $799 that looks like a slightly different model.
Model: UN46D6420U SKU: 2121582

though the 46" seems to be the same clearance price as the 55"?

The UN46D6900W is the one I picked up, it was $799. Did not see the 6420 but the sales person explained that any model number that is not in the even hundreds (6800,6900,7000) is a cheaper version they make especially for sale during Black Friday and such.

They are the same year model, designated by the "D". The link below shows the difference between the two units, so up to you what is best.

No on searching closest 10 stores, not with in-store clearance.

The 55" is generally $899 on clearance with a few straglers who has gone below that price for faster movement, but 95% of the stores that have it, have it at $899.

I can try to ask him in the morning.

They had it in their paws when he called to confirm electronic inventory..

As I said, I just didn't want to drive 70 miles to deal with Broward County drivers. Not as bad as Miami, but getting there.

I looked out about 100 miles from D.C. and only found one in Stafford, VA for 899. I would love to flip this but I don't have the political capitol with the wife so my loss is your gain.

Samsung UN46D6900W - $999 clearance

It could be their display unit, so who knows how long its been on. Maybe you can acess the system manual and see how many hours it has been on.

i could tell you a 46' one can fit standing up being a little bit slanted in the back of a Toyota Camry. however, it only got a little bit of free space

For those who need to PM, you can still use the URL above.

Also, if anyone in the Phoenix area who wouldn't mind getting this TV without cables, manual, ,stand, remote or box, the Happy Valley store has one for $499. YMMV though. They still had it at around 6:30pm when I was there.

I see now

the 55 is $899 and the 46 is $ 799

I see a couple of stores not far from me that have them listed as available( per the website)

I wished there were some D7000's around
the D7000 stepped up to 240hz( real 240hz!! not the LG etc version) and I think used a different panel and better color processing than the lower models

something it shred with the D8000 series

If you use the locate store link it will search for stores by distance from your zip code. Then you can click on each store's page and there is a link for clearance items and open box items. You have to search through each store independently.

jpk1080 12-30-2012 06:56 AM

Yes, call the store that has the TV. Tell them you want an oms to your local store. Don't ask if they ship, just say I need an oms.

I am getting one from an oms in two weeks. The store that is shipping it has it for $899. What should I do to get it for $694.99 at my local store?

Patsfan23 12-30-2012 08:36 AM

Decisions, decisions. I need to grab something by tomorrow for my garage for New Year's. Unfortunately the Boston area is tough to find anything on clearance.
Anything between 46" and 55" will fit. I already own the Samsung PN51E7000 51" Plasma and it's back down to $997. May be the way to go

Side question: Is this Best Buy clearance site a new thing?

I can see a million new threads popping up every time there is a good TV deal in like 5 out of 1000 Best Buy stores in the US. Not saying it isn't a good thing to start a thread, but there could end up being lots of SD'ers seeing a great deal and then realizing they need to drive 1500 miles to get the TV.

As a fellow Bostonian I can say that we rarely, if ever, see these clearance deals in our local stores. Never would this TV be available at $700 locally. I was actually stunned to see that the 42" Panasonic posted yesterday was actually in stock in Cambridge and Fenway. No where else on the north shore though. Clearance items at BB are more or less store specific. It comes down to whether or not the individual store even has the product in question, and if they do, what clearance price they are selling it for. I could be wrong, and maybe have the box store mixed up, but I think it's BB for which I've seen SD'ers use posted receipts from another BB store for their local BB to price match, but be denied by the manager. I think BB managers, or it might be another box store, aren't obligated to match another BB's clearance price. I could be wrong though.

If you need a TV for your party, just buy one at Walmart or whereever, and return it on Wednesday. Just repack it and go. :)

Like the instructions have said, you don't type the SKU into the general search bar on the website. You go to the website and click the Store Locator link, pick a store, then choose either Open Box or Clearance listings. Then you choose whatever category and browse what it shows. Not all stores are the same because not all clearance items are the same.

It's not new but it could be new to some people. They see one thread, browse their store clearance items and notice a different deal that is good and decide to make a thread for themselves. Then another person finds a different item and makes another thread...all using the same method.

I was just able to order the Panasonic - 2.1-Ch. Home Theater Soundbar System with Wireless Subwoofer SC-HTB520 for $75 plus tax. I used two $25 Best Buy gift cards that I got free from Viggle so my OOP expense after taxes is only about $31. camelbuy shows that this has never hit less than $330 at the store so I'm hoping it actually worth it. I'm not going to make a new thread for it though

I think you just have to hope that a store within your district has that price to do the OMS that you speak of. I don't think you can OMS from a store in California if you live in Indiana or something. I was able to OMS a store about an hour from me which had a HTiB for $125 (normal price of $600). I was unable to OMS a movie that advertised $10 (normal price $20) from a store two hours away though. They said the computer wasn't even giving them the option for the OMS in that case.

agreed

I have heard about people doing this all time for Superbowl etc and then returning it

Its probably the reason the stores have to change their return policies and or charge more absorb goofballs that do this sort of thing....and thereby ruin it for the rest of us that may need to return something for a legit reason

Scratch that. No surprise that my order was canceled. I find it more difficult to actually get a deal even when the website says there is stock. It's always canceled unless I go into the store to inquire and I'm told it's not in stock. There seems to be no point of of Best Buy clearance section online.

I have heard about people doing this all time for Superbowl etc and then returning it

Its probably the reason the stores have to change their return policies and or charge more absorb goofballs that do this sort of thing....and thereby ruin it for the rest of us that may need to return something for a legit reason

My best buy called me and said the clearance item they have is actually open box. What do ya'll think of the Samsung 55 inch open box? What price would you go? I usually avoid open box.

agreed. best buy's clearance section online is terrible, they give the items away in store to other customers. you can get some good deals in store though sometimes

LOL..and clearly you dont realize the difference in a good deal...be it with coupons..a low price etc for the item you bought

OR...buying a toilet..using it and returning it

buy you probably reuse toilet paper as well I bet..or do you try to return that as well?

nrdk00 12-30-2012 11:02 AM

So found it a state over where a friend lives to pick it up but it's priced at $900 and they said they won't PM clearance, any suggestions?

I would start the negotiation at 20% below the clearance price

I think he is SOL

BB is like Lowes and their clearance car vary by district

I tied this one when the Yamaha a3000 was $819 on the west and east coast stores

the stores in the midwest would not honor the other stores price

OR, maybe they just really are good people with a conscience. Believe it or not, those types of people do exist.

You have to admit, the people that do things like buy a tv and use it for a big sporting event or use any expensive electronics for a few days and return it likely are the reason that return policies have become what they have over the years and really do end up screwing over everyone that has a legit reason for return.

agreed

and that is the reason the return policy's of stores are as strict as they are...and I am sure some of that has to be reflected in their pricing

there is always some goofball who wants a big screen for the superbowl...or a new outfit for a party/ special event that they cant afford or have no intention of buying the item...so its bought with the intention of use and return

Score!

Nailed an open box (floor model) for 791 after tax. Missing remote / glasses but they are giving me new glasses and the remote I probably wouldn't use anyway since I'd want a universal remote. Slick deal OP!

FYI

Samsung has used the same TV codes for at least 7 years

any old Samsung remote...from ebay etc for less than $10.00 will work

it may not have all the buttons( smart functions) of the newer model remotes..but you can use the menu functions to get to the right place

Good to know! I have a logitech universal remote so hopefully that'll "just work". If not I'll check ebay. Figured the 20% or so additional price drop was far more then their silly remote would be :)

In store is no better for me. There was a blu-ray player that was advertised on the website as being clearance and $50. I go to the store to find it and only find two open box players of the exact same model but for $100. I ask them to check for new in box since the website said there are clearance versions available and they said clearance is the same as open box (Is that why there are two sections with different items on the website?). I then ask for the manuals and remotes and stuff and am told it's the player only with nothing else...but as a favor, they would cut the price in half to $50. Seriously? You're so kind as to give me a used item with no accessories for the same price as a new one being advertised on the website? Customer service I salute you!

shopping4me2 12-30-2012 02:05 PM

I couldn't find anything on clearance around here. :(

I did end up price matching Walmarts price at Best Buy for this tv:

Paid $799.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/LG---...8831022736

LG - 55" Class - LED - 1080p - 120Hz - 3D - HDTV

Haven't brought it in the house yet, wondering if there are going to be better deals for the Super Bowl.

Did you get that in store? Make sure you have the LM and not the LS model (non-3d), there was a mixup with the item number recently.

infiniteengine 12-30-2012 02:09 PM

I found it at $899 within an hour so far, I think $799 would have me pulling the trigger and returning a 47" Panasonic with much weaker specs for $650 - $100 rebate.

Jobronie 12-30-2012 02:17 PM

Consolation prize: not 3D/Smart, but commercial model, 2 yr warranty, 1.2" thick, 48 lbs:

It shows 3D on the box. I did read about the other tv and I think that was the 47 inch. I picked up the 55 inch.

It's on the front page of this week at for $899 but Walmart has it as a Special Buy for $799. I had some Reward Zone money to use so that's why I price matched Walmats price to Best Buy.

that will work just fine...or your Direct TV remote..One for all..etc etc

Samsung is one of the few companies that hasn't changed codes for at least the last 7 years

TonyD8245 12-30-2012 02:37 PM

This is a great t.v. Mine has been running strong for the past 2 years.

The picture quality (right out of the box) is excellent.

Lamplitersniper 12-30-2012 02:37 PM

Is the SKU for this deleted on best buys site now? Its not coming up for me :(

Shopaholic610 12-30-2012 05:01 PM

Picked up my tv for $975 after tax... Best Buy guy tried to put the box in from the back to fit into the front seat but ended up damaging my leather seats :( Took the tv out the box to get it to fit in my back seat (Acura TSX) sitting up right.

Anyone who gets the 55" - the specs say that it comes with 2 pairs of 3d glasses, but these ARE NOT in the box. The BestBuy I bought from wouldn't provide the 2 pairs of 3d glasses separately (said they weren't in-stock), and said I'd have to talk to corporate.

If you want to only watch 2d content this is a good deal as you can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p if your sitting far enough away only time you will see a difference is when you are close to the tv. With that said 3d viewing will suffer because to get optimal 3d effect you need to be fairly close to the set and you will notice the difference between 720p and 1080p in that case. The calculation for 3d viewing on a 1080p set is 1.56 times the screen size of the tv so in this tv's case it would be 50 x 1.56 which = 78 inches which would be 6.5 ft. On a 720p set the optimal viewing distance is further back due to the lower resolution so 3d effects will suffer due to being further away from the tv than with a 1080p set. The optimal viewing distance on this set since its 720p is 50 x 2.3 = 115 which would be almost 9.6 ft. Thats a 3 ft difference between the two resolutions which make a considerable difference in the 3d effect.

Would you be willing to post the receipt with ur info blacked out? Thanks

If its new, I'd buy it.

sorry, but Plasma is much better.

I would go with a 60" myself.

once you go 60" , 55" seems kind of small.

a Samsung Plasma will give you better color accuracy vs this Samsung LCD TV.

I got one for $550 myself, sorry to rub it in.

Confirmed! They are no where to be found in the box. My TV doesn't even come with the Owner's Manual
