30" Korean 2560x1600 IPS Monitors
 

Does anyone have thoughts on the 30" monitors from Korea being sold on eBay? I know the 27" Yamakasi Catleap has got a lot of love on this forum in the $300 range, but there's nothing about the 30" equivalents that can be found for as little as $528 [ebay.com]. Seems like a pretty good deal when compared to $1100 for a U3011 or ZR30W.

I'm personally leaning towards this $549 [ebay.com] model with an adjustable stand.

I'm probably buying a 27" version of the crossover off ebay for $360. To me the big downside to buying these moitors is they have awesome panels but very shitty hardware driving them. These things can not scale at all from what I've read. Other than 640x480 (who would want that) if you are running at anything other than the native resolution it flat out won't display. If you plan on gaming, you better make sure the games you run can run at 2560x1600 at a decent frame rate because you won't be able to scale back to anything else.

Yeah, at least the 2560x1440 ones can output 720p also

you can always just make your video card scale instead of using the monitor.

and 2560x1440 isn't that much less than 2560x1600 (if you have hardware to push the 27", your computer should be good enough for the 30")

Do monitors STILL not come in anything greater than 60hz? My laptop had like 70Hz in the 90s and since then it seems tehy've all dropped to 60hz. That is simply shit since even the TVs nowadays are standard 120hz and above. What gives man? I spend 10 hours a day staring at a screen and my eyes feel like they are bleeding by quitting time most nights. Do I need to just dump the desktop altogether and get a nice laptop to resolve this issue? Someone please advise because Im not gettin it. Thank you all for your time.

i have been eye-ing these monitors for a while, the 27 inch looks reasonable since its just a bove 300$ but the 30 inch cost 200 more, dont know if it is worth it for 3 inches larger. wish they would drop the price down a bit. however it is still good considering dell and apples displays cost over 1000$ for similar performance.
