Good deal, thanks! I'm glad I got this deal instead of the online ones. Now I can just pick it up from the store later today, instead of waiting 3 or 4 days for it to ship.

aggiegirl12 12-29-2012 11:46 PM

Thanks! Not as slick as I've seen before on here (~$35) in previous weeks/months, but still good nonetheless b/c I have RZ credit to burn. :)

Curious about this also. I just got a 360. I think I saw somewhere on the box about 1 month of gold. Could I order this but not activate it till my other one runs out?

Yes, but even if you activate it now, it should just extend your membership, so you'd get your full 13 months from your current month plus this 12 month card.

Xbox Live Gold is needed to play online, use Netflix, Cloud Saves, and a few other things. Generally speaking, if you want to play any games online, it's in your best interest to get a 12 month card for $30-$40 whenever you can.

Seems like after the last price hike the $30 card has become a thing of the past. Should have loaded up back in the day.

Thanks OP! My little brothers runs out on January 1 so this is perfect!:bounce:

thetwins 12-30-2012 04:52 PM

ok, so is there any other reason to get this if I don't want to play games online against other players?

I am interested in watching Netflix on my tv, but I also have a macbook pro. Couldn't I just get the connector between the mbp and my tv, and use it as a large monitor? would I get better resolution from using it through the xbox?

Just trying to figure out if this is actually something I would want...

still expensive for me in terms of value. they should atleast make netflix viewing free without live membership requirement. I have no interest in playing online games, but would like to just use apps like netflix, hulu plus etc.

Best Buy inherently means crap "deal." It will be a cold day in hell when I give that garbage corporation my money. I would gladly pay Amazon more for an item, but we all know that's never the case.

i dunno if people want to save the extra money, but you could alwasy take the ad price match it with target use 5 percent off and make it 38...which seems to be closer to that golden 35 price =)

Completely disagree with this utterly backwards (and unfortunately generally accepted) way of thinking. Without companies like BB CREATING the actual deals, Lameazon wouldn't even exist...at least not as we know it. :shake:

Why reward a company that only price-matches if enough tears and kness fall to the floor? Why give your hard-earned dollars to a company that never, ever creates a deal; yet simply matches one if enough people call and bitch and moan and plead for them to do so for a few brief moments until they deem their customers unworthy?

But hey, keep your anger and rage up...maybe all retail stores will close up shop ofrever and then you can surely get your wish of no competition and thus the subsequent paying Amazon more (much, much, much more) for every item under the sun!

You really don't get it. Amazon doesn't need to price match, they are almost always the cheapest to begin with. On the other hand, I've never been like "oh, that's a terrible price Amazon/Staples/Walmart/(insert any store here), BB has it much cheaper."

Also, I've NEVER had anything but EXEMPLARY customer service with Amazon. The best I've ever seen. There are other reasons, but this is self-explanatory, and I can't believe this is a real converasation. Google "best buy intranet" for more reading.

Keep being a Grade-A SUCKER for BB, you are a laughingstock. Anyone who considers themselves a slickdealer worth a damn wouldn't be sticking up for such a garbage corp. Is that you, BB CEO? LMAO

BB's practices may appear a bit shady while under the strictest microscope, but compared to Amazon's deceptive shill reviews, tax manipulations, and morally contemptable standards, they come off as saints. Thanks for posting that inane and obtuse drivel. I haven't laughed that hard in ages. Keep your head in the sand, junior...the truth might kill you. All's well, since you're content to pay more and only shop in one place, there's more for myself and other wise SDers who know a true slick deal! :lmao:

I concur, BB deserves respect and they have provided a lot of good deals in 2012. Whereas Amazon provided squat. Also, you get exemplary service if you are on their good side, but the moment you get on the bad one, good luck getting your account unlocked. It took 3 months to do that once, because my gf used my account and ordered a book. She then got PWNED because someone bought itunes cards in Egypt, so she reported those transactions and her Amazon transaction that was legit. Well, she got her money, but my account got locked. We tried everything and I was already giving up hope to clear up the confusion, because all of our kindles didnt work properly due to locked account. I stay very wary of Amazon and other online retailers, because at least with BB, you could always storm into the store and set them straight.

Kind of tempting to renew my Xbox Live which ran out months ago. Just having a hard time convincing myself as I dont play online much.

I'd like it for Netflix, but dont feel like I should have to pay Microsoft for it when I already pay Netflix a monthly fee for their service. Any other services that may justify the price (that dont require a separate fee like Netflix or Hulu)?

Honestly, If your not using it for online gaming don't renew it. I can't think of any other features that make it worth it. I guess the cloud saving or something but meh.. Why pay $40 for this when you could get a roku for that price and stream netflix and a ton of other things. Though if you do want to play online this is a good deal. so +1

youve got to be joking if you think best buy has cheaper prices than amazon. try going into best buy to buy parts to assemble a computer. i bet those parts would cost you $1000 vs $500 at amazon.

amazon usually has the best prices with plenty of useful customer reviews to help the buyer. plus, their customer service is excellent. in fact, consumers voted amazon.com as #1 in customer service.

i cant recommend anyone to ever shop at best buy... their prices are just awful. most of their products are at MSRP! if you really insist on visiting a physical store so you can look at the product or ask employees for assistance, frys electronics is the way to go. theyve got pretty decent prices and a much wider selection of products for sale.

I never once stated that BB is cheaper than Amazon as a whole. Sometimes BB is cheaper, sometimes Amazon. Sometimes it's somewhere else entirely. Sometimes things don't always work out, such as when not everyone has a Frys, OM, etc, in their area. Anyone that shops in only one place regardless of price or does not prefer the best deal, is, by definition, not a true SDer. :bulb:

don't bother trying to be pragmatic or have an ounce of common sense with these people. they are content to lube up, bend over, and assume the position for BB. i, for one, will let them. there have to some suckers to keep this economy afloat in these bleak times we live in.

Isn't bb pricematching amazon? Honestly I don't know. Anyway, by charging taxes amazon is not the best place to buy anymore. And to be honest amazon never was the best place to buy pc parts anyhow. Newegg is more competive and locally you have Microcenter and frys. Amazon sent me 3 used motherboards one after another. Each time they apologized and paid for the shipping back but I lost a full month waiting for a good , new motherboard . After the 3rd one I asked for a full return and bought the mobo from newegg. We are talking here of a $500 mobo not the avrage $99 with rebates item. I love amazon but I think they are not the best / most competitive in PC parts... and I also believe they should've fought harder the tax issue.

Zolor 12-31-2012 02:13 AM

Amazon taxes in: California, Kansas, Kentucky, New York, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Washington. Most of us don't live in those states, so speak for yourself.

Best Buy ends up being $42.39 with tax for me, so the Newegg deal is much better at $37.99. We just started the free 1 month trial (new Xbox users) and don't really know how we'll be using it yet, but better to get it on sale now and figure it out along the way.
