Amex Blue Cash Preferred Card (6% CB On Grocery) Question

I hope you all know that Amex introduced $6k per year cap on this card.. But, I read that it will be effective from the first renewal date after Jan 15, 2013...

I never had this card and I was planning to apply in the first week of Jan, 2013 so I will get unlimited 6% CB until Jan 2014.. But looks like the 6k cap is effective immediate for new customers...

Can someone please confirm?

Yes, I just got it a couple months ago and it has the $6k cap in the paperwork. And on their website it shows as coming with the cap when applying.

What you are referring to must only be for those who already had the card before they decided to put a cap on the 6% cashback.

Hope that helps.

Unfortunately, Amex has wised up and will be capping the highest level of rewards at $6,000 in annual grocery purchases starting on January 1st. This card is still a good deal, but not nearly as juicy as it used to be. :(

I have the Everyday card. I am thinking of getting the Preferred for 6% but at $6k cap, that's still a lot. You have to spend $500 in groceries per month. If you are buying huge purchase on Amazon, that's still 6% off in gift cards (but not as Slick in Cali anymore as it just negates the Amazon tax + more).
