$5 Amazon Instant Video credit for registering by January 7th. [amazon.com]

$5.99 VUDU credit
[vudu.com]

Free 1-month Hulu Plus Trial [hulu.com]

Edit: The bundle includes a free 2-month Hulu Plus trial for new customers.

bjsguess 01-02-2013 12:46 PM

Is Hulu+ only 1 month? I just got a Roku from Costco a few days ago and was able to get Hulu+ for 2 months.

FreeBaGeL 01-02-2013 12:47 PM

Shipping + tax + non-member charge makes this $6 more expensive than Amazon for me. Even without the surcharge it's $2 more :\

Oh yeah, I guess it includes a 2-months free trial for new customers.

Any use for Roku if I already have Xfinity cable?

goodguys21 01-02-2013 12:59 PM

My costco doesnt have it in stock :(

danameless 01-02-2013 01:08 PM

For anyone with a BJ's membership instead, they have it for the same price in-store when i was there this past weekend (NJ).

Firebird72 01-02-2013 01:40 PM

I purchased the Roku 2XS at Sams, it sit's right next to my PS3.
The PS3 and my Blu-ray player located in another room are consistently much better as far as picture quality and much less buffering. Anyone else have this issue?

nope, no issues when it's direct connected. over wireless, lots of buffering

I got mine at BJs yesterday in-store. According the the shelf tag the sale price is good through 1/3 (Thursday).

I think it was mentioned earlier but the club version comes with the HDMI cable and a 2 month Hulu Plus subscription. Someone else also mentioned the Amazon Instant Video and Vudu service credits for setting up those channels.

Nice little box ... I got it mostly for the Plex channel ... far superior to trying to have Plex talk DLNA with my PS3. I'll probably be picking up another one of these tomorrow before the sale ends for another room in the house.

I FOUND THIS ON A BB WEBSITE/FORUM

I am disappointed to hear that you’ve had such difficulty with a price match at your local Best Buy stores and apologize for the frustration this has caused.

Yes, we do price match Costco as long as it is in your local area and the price match aligns with our price match guarantee which you’ve quoted above and is available at http://bbyurl.us/PM. A local retail competitor distance will vary depending on the area and is determined by store management; a store in Montana will have a larger local area than a store in New York for example due to the density of retail locations.

Our price match policy is not up to manager discretion to honor or not as it is a company wide policy. Assuming Costco had the same advertised non-bundle item in stock and they are in your local area; I do not see a reason why this price match would have been refused.

I would appreciate it if you could share, either publicly or via private message, the store locations which you visited so I can partner with the store management there to learn why you were refused the price match.

Thank you for sharing your concerns and I look forward to hearing back,

tC2009 01-02-2013 02:26 PM

I mentioned this deal on the Sam's Club post a few days ago. Expires on 1/5/2013 and is available at the B&M Costco locations also.

The Hulu plus trial is 2 months through Costco (for "new" users only). Your link goes to the Geico 1 month trail

I can already hear it... The Costco one is bundled with a 2 meter HDMI cable and 2-month Hulu Plus card so it does not count.

Interesting though, BB used to say Costco is "wholesale" and not retail thus they do not price match. I still would buy through Costco because of less hassles and the Conseirge extended warranty on many of the electronics

Yeah, I realized that after I posting it. The Geico link is a free trial that anyone can use.

One more thing to add is that Costco has *unconditional* return policy on this item similar to the case with PS3 and other bluray players. So if it stops working or is defective, they will refund it years down the road. Confirmed it with the costco.com rep. Thus, it is meaningless to compare the price with other retailers, since costco beats them hands down.

soconfused 01-04-2013 08:08 AM

A little off topic, but I have a question if somebody can help....
I bought a Roku before Christmas and want to buy Amazon Prime. If I link it up with my usual Amazon account, will those who use the roku be able to have access to the amazon account?

Also, I registered the Roku with a separate account from my Amazon account. Do they need the same email address?

Sorry if that's confusing and thanks for the patience in my OT post....if you had patience for it ;)

So true - that's why I bought my SB6121 from Costco. It's like an added insurance with a $55 membership.

soconfused 01-04-2013 08:09 AM

I also meant to say I registered with a different email from my netflix account and now can't sign into netflix. Would that be the reason?

Is this better than having a laptop hooked to a TV?

I use wireless mouse and keyboard. What's the Pro and Con of Roku 2 vs a laptop.

You sure roku 2 does not fall under any of the things listed below?

I saw it pop back in stock a bit on Costco.com, either way, I picked one up in store and will probably go back today to get another one for my mom.

I love Costco, membership is worth it just for the wine, cheese, meat and beer. They also have the Kitchenaid's mixers there that we've had to return multiple times with no issue. They have a great set of pots and pans that are inexpensive. And a ton of nice seasonal items.

johnnyblades 01-15-2013 07:54 AM

way off topic, I know...
but has anyone had any luck connecting their roku to a usb Wifi adapter, like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Etekcity-Wi...GBK3A2SR6E

I have a camper out in the woods next to our house that the kids use for a fort/playhouse. I'd like to set up a roku out there. Its only about 30 feet from the house, but wifi signal is just weak enough to be a problem. I'm thinking if I could use a higher power usb wifi adapter, I'd get a good enough signal.

is there a good adapter would allow me to connect that USB wifi adapter to the ethernet port on the Roku?
