Free Bayer CONTOUR USB blood glucose meter & 25 Strips

1 Attachment(s)
To All,

For anyone who has diabetes, Bayer is giving away a FREE CONTOUR USB blood glucose meter and strips!

https://offers.bayerdiabetes.com/...offer.aspx

Enter promo code "300" (w/o the quotes)

If the above link does not work....try this direct one!

https://offers.bayerdiabetes.com/...quest.aspx

I can personally confirm that I already received both my glucose meter along with USB cable AND 25 FREE testing strips. The strips alone cost about $20-$25 for the bottle and the meter ranges in price between $20-$40 dollars.

Sign-up, and a few days later you will get an e-mail confirming your order was sent out!

Good Luck!

P.S. Please do not abuse the offer....some folks really need a meter and strips and this a great way to at least try it out.;) Oh and BTW, if any of you are thinking of turning around and selling this FREE offer both the box and bottle say NOT FOR RESALE! :omg:

Oh and BTW, if any of you are thinking of turning around and selling this FREE offer both the box and bottle say NOT FOR RESALE!

COME ON OP, YOU CAN'T TELL THEM NOT TO ABUSE THIS IN ONE SENTENCE AND THEN POST THE VALUE IN THE NEXT. PULL DOWN THIS POST BEFORE THE COMPANY CATCHES ON AND ENDS THE GIVEAWAY. THE SITE IS LOCKED UP SOLID ALREADY.
THIS HAS NO PLACE ON SLICKDEALS.

I agree with you 100%, it's already screwed up for those of us that got the offer legit. I cannot get through and got it legitimately. It should be pulled down.

The original poster meant that this would have cost thus and so dollars for people who do need this stuff but have a limited purse for such outlays. Lighten up.

Lighten up? Greedy ebayers are ensuring those that need it are not getting it thanks to this thread. The system is overloaded.

"BAD KARMA" WILL HIT THOSE WHO SELL IT ON EBAY/CL.

You're Welcome....I am newly diagnosed and and with the number of meters out there to pick from, its madness as well as very expensive!

After doing some research, this one seemed the best for me! Good diabetes management software is included. Don't use the disk provided though....go to the Bayer website and download the newest version. Also make sure you've updated your Java software as well!

PM me if you have any additional questions or concerns!

travfar 01-04-2013 02:37 PM

I've had this meter for 2-3 years. They used to be free instore. The big plus, rechargable.

There's some serious variation between meters. Using the same blood sample, I've seen this meter and another brand be off by 50.

I hear you on this issue....apparently Bayer has fixed this problem. They now claim its within 20% variance at testing time. Of course there are many factors that led to wild readings with any meter such as not washing your hands thoroughly, not applying your test blood immediately after you've pricked your finger, etc...

Of course, I too like the rechargeable feature its great! The software is also on the USB drive so you can install it elsewhere. Don't forget, there is also a separate partition to use as a generic jump drive to save doc, video, mp3s as well!

Just my two cents...

m6284505 01-04-2013 02:48 PM

TU and repped.
I have had type 1 diabetus 25 years now. This appears to be a great meter, especially with the rechargeable battery which I guess charges through a computer or maybe even a cell phone charger (plug the meter into the USB port on the wall charger?).

I won't be getting this because the meters I have now are wireless and talk to my insulin pump when I test my BS level. I hope all type one diabetics move to a pump, and one that has this awesome wireless technology. The pump was a dramatic change in care for me and I cannot imagine having the diabetus without it.

While I don't take insulin, they do have a version of this meter that wireless transmits insulin dosages levels to you.

Ohh snap!! That's my pump right on the page you posted (Hmm, I don't think I have the Revel pump, but I might be able to upgrade). Some good stuff.
I use this one, look at the size of it compared to the Bayer one!

Your meter seems a bit larger? Looks like the Bayer Contour Next meter is similar to the one I have but for insulin management!

If you mean the box you get in the mail? Its a nondescript plain white box with a return address from Bayer and of course your address!

Good job OP this a great find! Normally I would jump on this since it's free but I hate to be taking from someone who needs it.

20% either way is 160 - 240 when you are 200.

For those of you who need a meter but can't get one through the link, CVS is having them on sale free after Extra Care Bucks starting 1/6.

$9.99 ECB WYB Bayer A1C Now, Contour, Contour USB, or Contour next EZ Blood Glucose Monitoring System, $9.99, limit 1

There are also some printables out there to make it a better deal.

Yeah, I've got a cheap Walgreen meter as a back-up and if I feel my reading with this meter is REALLY off, I test with that one, and its typically within a few points. Rarely do I get a wild reading....if I do, its because I forgot to wash my hands and/or I let my sample blood stay on my finger for longer than a few seconds.

Diagnosed pre diabetic and told to return to dr. in eight weeks. A colleague has been testing me at work, but this would give me the option to test at home. Thanks so much,

Yeah....I was hoping that wouldn't happen! I was very reluctant to put this 'deal' up but I figured at least a few more folks needing a meter could get in on the deal.

Not necessary true.....I am not a fat slob! Its simply the genetics that run in my family. I eat very well...keep my carbs to a minimum (120-150 grams per day) and exercise 30 minutes to an 1 hour EACH day. Its a struggle admittedly sometimes but no more difficult than anything else in life. Once you get into a routine, its actually quite easy to keep on track!

No, you can choose from one of the ones listed. They are all $9.99 each. If you decide to purchase one you will receive $9.99 in extra bucks to use on a future purchase. Someone posted the link to printables so they will be cheaper with the MQ, but I did notice they were not valid in MA. The limit is 1 for receiving the extra bucks but if you needed more than one meter the price would still be $9.99.

THAT IS PATHETIC GROUP OF LOSERS
SD SHOULD FIND AND LIST THEIR PERSONAL INFO ON WALL OF SHAME

Edit:
Seems like not all 107 are eligible for that award. Many will come up soon though...

lucky7gds 01-04-2013 06:23 PM

We also need this for family member. Shame on those that took advantage of this for profit!! Hope carma comes back and gets them!! Getting error message.

Mr.Ritz 01-04-2013 06:37 PM

Not even I will resell these..

ILoveAZ 01-04-2013 06:53 PM

FWIW, I give away every meter I happen to get. My last workplace had to dispose of perfectly good glucometers as well as expired test strips because we got brand new meters. I must have given away 10 meters and 500 test strips that were only 1 or 2 months past the expire date.

It's unbelievable that people don't know you can get free glucometers.

Zephir365 01-04-2013 06:56 PM

Not gonna claim this. It's inhumane to abuse an offer for people who really are sick and in need of this.

You need to pull this post down. It's going to get abused without a doubt. In fact you already posted what they can resell them for. There are just some things that don't need to get posted to slickdeals. The company will see the swell in orders and end up ending the promotion or running out of stock.just check the site if you need proof. It's completely frozen up.

Quite easy in fact!

To test, simply insert strip into slot on side of meter, wait 5 seconds...results are shown and then hit one of three buttons options - 'Before Meal, After Meal, No Mark'

I believe the unit holds up to 2,000 readings. It provides a daily, weekly and monthly average right on the screen itself. It also has a light feature on it so that you can test in the dark. It charges via a wall charger (that is provided in this kit) and it also charges by simply plugging into the PC as well similar to a USB jump drive. Software is a snap to load and read results. Everything can be viewed by day, numbers and in color charts. Data can even be saved to .pdf and either e-mailed or saved directly to jump drive and e-mailed/printed and shared with Doctors

Hope this helps out!

THIS IS NOT A HIJACK.....As a person recently diagnosed with "Diabetes" I found the South Beach Diet where you reduce or eliminate simple carbohydrates (ie: processed grains, enriched grains, white flour etc.....) Without getting into boring details, your body simply cannot process these carbs.....and if we ingest said carbs, your body responds with producing insulin in an effort to reduce the spike in blood sugar and after awhile, your body becomes insulin resistant (aka: diabetic). I lost (so far) a total of 29lbs, weaned off 2 hypertension meds and got my blood sugar into the sub 100 range (without the use of medication) all simply by trying to eliminate simple carbs!

Unfortunately, changing habits is much harder than popping a pill. Everyone would do well by avoiding simple carbohydrates. Agree completely.

No need to explain yourself OP. The comment shows how immature the poster is. Fact is a lot of people don't realize how being overweight isn't the only reason to be diagnosed with diabetes. Sometimes it is inherited genetically as you said.

Btw, funny guy correct your grammar. Someone isn't fat, they are overweight because they have fat.

I have the Revel pump and the Next version of this meter that transmits the results to it. Awesome system. It seems quite accurate. The Next meter uses different strips, however. I did use the meter briefly before switching to the Next version when it came out.

This is the meter I have. Just to be clear, it doesn't send the insulin dose, just the reading so your pump can then calculate the dose.

Hated that meter. It took a ton of blood compared to the Next and the Next lets you add blood for 30 seconds if you don't get enough on the strip initially, that meter just started the test right away then gave an error message. And yes, much bigger. The Next is a bit wider than the plain old Contour USB.

You are totally spot on with this comment. Thanks for clarifying my original posting for everyone else!

No need to mark it as dead. It wasn't really a new deal to begin with. All meter companies will give you a free meter. It's the strips they make money on. It's been this way for years. Look through the massive SD archive and you'll see all the previous threads about it. So it's not like it's dead never to return. It's just sleeping and it'll be back. Just remember to check back later. It's been available for years.

My point exactly!

When I was diagnosed awhile back, I quickly learned that its not the meters that cost a lot, its those damn testing strips. Most of these strips now of days have more advanced technology in them, you gotta wonder if they were retro-fitted from a UFO crash!!! They have microchips/sensors in them that are faster a basic calculator.....

Bottom line here folks, drug companies are virtually bending over backwards to sell you a meter at significantly reduced price via rebates/discounts, etc. or simply GIVE them away with a sample strip pack (such as this promotion) in hopes that you will get hooked on their product and buy THEIR strips. Its commonly known in the diabetic community that its the strips that cost the most money and NOT the meters themselves. Medical companies take a small loss on the meter, knowing that they will DEFINITELY make it up in spades once you start buying their strips.

I know some folks have suggested that this post be deleted or removed. I too questioned my reasoning for putting this post up in the first place and it WAS NOT for the rep points. It was ONLY to help folks out who needed a new meter. I balanced out the fact that I was posting to Slickdeals and the thought of having some folks here take advantage of this greatly needed product was still not enough for me to consider removing it from this forum.

If a moderator really feels that this an inappropriate posting, by all means take it off. I personally made a decision to post this information in hopes of helping as many people out. Bottom line here, If you need it or know someone who does need one, great! If you are ordering one with the intent on selling it elsewhere, shame on you!

All I have to say, is Karma is a freakin' B@#ch for those that don't do things for the right reasons!

Take Care,

nunpoom 01-04-2013 11:17 PM

I don't need one, but I'm not gonna sell it either. I want to use it after I hit the buffet hard. It's a great motivational tool to prevent one from getting diabetes. Anyway, it seems like the site is locking up forever.

bayors site is getting hammered right now...

poppyfire 01-05-2013 12:21 AM

I needed one, so I purchased this exact monitor for my grandmother, who doesn't know how to use the computer. It's a sad day when these companies try to market their product to people who need them, rely on them, actually plan their day around the results, and people are flooding the site to collect the 25 strips or resell on CL or Ebay. I wish I could say it surprises me, but as someone who tried to order a free device from bayer for over two hours today and continue to get the "try again later" error, I can say it was worth it for me to spend 13 bucks on Amazon and just hope a few of the people who are trying to order one and need it for daily living (like my grandmother), well, I hope they get one.

Some people talk a big game because of the anonymity of the internet, but if you're reading this and you've flooded the Bayer site without a need for one of these devices, I'll punch you in the stomach if I ever find out. You should feel ashamed and you shouldn't brag, because someone like me may overhear and ruin your farking day.

AHzoo 01-05-2013 12:32 AM

Anyone who would take advantage of this offer to resell, is truly the scum of the earth. (Don't need a lecture on "capitalism" BTW.)

You do know there are two main types of diabetes, right? You don't need a family history or bad health to get an autoimmune disease.

OP, it looks like a pretty nice meter. Too bad many won't get to try it. You can also probably get free meters from your doctor. I always have.

Sorry but I will not reply if you haven't posted in this thread earlier stating why you needed it. Yes I will check to see if the post has been edited.

Combine with $5 off MFG coupon, perhaps easier than wading through the site assuming you need a meter.

Toltepeceno 01-05-2013 01:55 PM

I was wondering why I have not been able to get through for several days. I received an email on this, am diabetic. I would NEVER have posted it here and messed it up for the people that actually need it. Thanks a lot. Please delete it if you have a conscience.

I just wanted to say thanks for posting this here and screwing those of us that got this in an email. I have been trying several days to get it at no avail, am diabetic. Thanks for allowing greedy mf's get them to sell to those that actually need it. Why don't you do the right thing and delete the post? No one is being screwed out of anything! The deals are for everyone and if you feel that way to me you are a greedy person! There is NO reason why everyone cannot know about this deal, it is about sharing and helping others NOT being greedy and trying to keep it to yourself. Do you relize how many people recd the email and how many people in this world that have diabetic?

Don't blame slick deals, blame the MF for not having their website able to handle the demand. By the way why are you on this thread, if you don't want to help others, maybe you need to go elsewhere

Toltepeceno 01-05-2013 04:00 PM

You are brain dead. It's meant for people that are diabetic, not non diabetics to score and sell on ebay. If you can't see that now you might when you grow up.

The deal was for those that got the emails which I did, greedy for wanting what was meant for me? People are apparently not raising their children properly.

So if your welfare check, meant for you, was grabbed by someone else that would be fine? They were meant for those that got the emails, not a bunch of children that think everything is owed to them (like you).

Heck, I actually need a meter and I've been diagnosed with diabetes. It's sad the site doesn't work and I don't have any money to buy a meter. :(

I've been trying for the last 4 hours and no luck.

yoshimra 01-05-2013 04:25 PM

BAYER sucks!!! 3 years ago I bought their meters and they had rebates on them, Bayer got the paperwork but said they would not honor it for their rebate.. I got screwed by Bayer. Don't ever expect a rebate from them if they offer one. They will find a way not to honor it.

gotojanoo 01-05-2013 04:32 PM

looks like they intentionally screwed up that web page not to honor , what they can't fix it? its been 24 hours. I got one for 99 cents after mfg coupon from walgreen some one posted that coupon here thanks for that and repped the person who posted that $5 coupon.Yeah sure no testing strips though i got a buy it now.

Why should they honor it? They sent out emails to those that were supposed to get the meters. People signing up for a free meter that did not get the email is stealing. I don't blame them for shutting it down, it's been hijacked because a simpleton posted his email info on here.

AngryPirate 01-05-2013 07:53 PM

It's funny to me how many people complain that they couldn't get in on the offer and blame it on Ebayers. Let's be real about things for a minute. Diabetes is primarily (note I did NOT say always, as there are some exceptions) related to obesity. Genetics may make someone more susceptible, but neither has been "scientifically" proven as a cause. What is factual though is the statistics behind it. Over 80% of people with diabetes are overweight (~50% are considered obese). To take it a step further, other studies have found that some of these people who are technically considered normal weight, still carry above average fat in their midsection. I'm sure many of these people had no problem spending ~$20-50 per week on fast food, grande latte's, and various other junk food, but have the audacity to throw a tantrum when they feel like they're jipped out of "their" free meter (valued at ~$10-20) by some "greedy" Ebay'ers??? Really? This sense of entitlement and lack of personal responsibility is sickening to me. No one owes any of you shit, and if your unhappy with your current situation, then change it.

For the record, I am overweight. Obese, actually. 230lbs, 5'10". And I am probably diabetic or at least in the pre stages (don't care to be tested). However, you're not going to hear me piss and moan about and blame anyone or anything for the situation I put myself in. Although I've never been a sedentary person, I've had horrible eating habits which got me to where I am today. That's on me. I'll own it. I decided to make a change recently, in my eating habits, and will drop ~40lbs before summer. If I fail, that's on me as well. If I have/get diabetes, that's also on me. I won't blame it on mom or dad for "cursing" me with some gene. I take responsibility for my own life.

Additionally, do not delude yourself into believing that Bayer or any other company gives a flying shit about your well-being. You are a statistic and a dollar sign to them. Any of them will give you a free meter if you ask... not because they have big hearts...because they make their money gouging you for their test strips. The sooner people come to this realization and start owning up to their life decisions, the sooner people's quality of life will see a dramatic improvement.

You are just as dense as the other guy.

1, Bayer sent out the email's to certain people with the code for a free meter.

2. Many that actually got the email cannot get the meter because it's been hijacked by those that did not get an email and only want to sell the meter.

3. What part of that can you not comprehend???? They meant them for those that they sent the emails to. Now that's been sabotaged by people like you that thinks you are owed one even though you did not get an email.

If the site was just being overwhelmed, some people would still manage to get through (especially overnight hours), so they've obviously crippled it on purpose. Why don't they just put up a message that it's temporarily stopped because of the demand, or that they're out of stock or it or something, instead of wasting everyone's time filling out the form?

BTW, do people really actually get these to resell?

yoshimra 01-06-2013 11:50 AM

Got them from CVS for just about free. I had over a hundred that I sold 3 yrs. ago.

I don't know what this fuss about. Companies in Canada give the glucose meters away for free because they make money on the strips and you could get them at any drug store without a line up. The same meters are available in the US, except the readings are in mMol/L like in the rest of the world.
My resting blood sugar readings are 5.8, which is borderline and I am watching what I eat now. Multiply this by 18 to get it in mg/dL and I have 104.
Would I feel guilty buying a printer cheaply if I know I will be dinged when I buy the ink?

3. What part of that can you not comprehend???? They meant them for those that they sent the emails to. Now that's been sabotaged by people like you that thinks you are owed one even though you did not get an email.

I'm not sure if glucose levels effect comprehension or you simply didn't bother to read my post? I did not mention, nor do I give a damn about what emails were sent out to anyone. Secondly, where did I state that I even attempted to get one of these meters? I didn't. And have no desire to. You accusing me of having any sense of entitlement is the funniest farking thing I ever heard. I am about the furthest person from that description. I suggest you read other posts of mine on this forum. Now...is there some part of this that you do not comprehend???

I was going to give it a try since I haven't tested in a while. I have type 2 and know when my sugar is high your body knows it too. I currently do not have medical coverage and these testers and the medication are both expensive. It keeps error out. do not waste your time with this

Mike C 01-07-2013 02:36 PM

For those grumbling above, I am in Healthcare and there is a distinct difference between type 1 and type 2. Type one is typically genetic, affecting the bodies ability to maintain insulin production, causing hyperglycemia. Type 2's most common cause is indeed improper diet, lack of exercise, and obesity, although there case be other causes and there are potential genetic links there as well.

Regarding meters, as mentioned above, a NICE free meter and sample set of test strips is available from you local Dr and/or pharmacy almost all of the time. I prefer the OneTouch systems myself.

Agreed...but since type 2 accounts for 90-95% of diabetes cases, it's more than fair to assume that the majority of diabetics addressed by the comments are most likely type 2. Can't speak for others, but my main point was that people need to take more personal responsibility for their choices.

Yea I have been a diabetic the last 23 years...your numbers of 90-95% is WRONG. Where are you pulling those numbers from?

Agreed with you with companies make $ on strips and toners/cartridges. Plus, mobile carriers make $ on different plan by giving out FREE phone.

i can personally confirm that i already received both my glucose meter along with usb cable and 25 free testing strips.

:omg:

shame on you op that just to collect rep points you are posting this thread here, opening door to possible abuse.

Here we go again. Last time this was posted here it locked up the Bayer site for days and then they removed the offer.

How about removing this post now so the offer doesn't get abused again, ruining it for people in need.

MD usually write rx for test strip and u can tell them or the pharmacy what test strip you want. Whether it is covered or not it depends on your insurance plan. The pharmacy would not know which stips is covered until they process your rx and bill your insurance. You might want to call your insurance to check if this particular strip is covered.

10 strips in box with 10 lancets. I'm surprised if anyone got 50 strips (as someone above noted). Are they sending the same meter to everyone?

If you get errors while ordering online, you can call them. The number should be on one of those pages. They asked for the exact same information on the website and sent me a free meter in 2 days.
