Best laser printer with low toner cost but with duplex printing? Please help
Hi everyone.
I need some suggestions. I want to buy a laser printer that has a low toner cost and must have duplex printing. please make suggestions of brands/ models. thank you. |
I'd recommend the HP LaserJet P1606DN - Newegg has it for $170 [newegg.com]

what kind of quantity are you talking about, as larger printers are more expensive, but support bigger, larger, more expensive yet better per page toner cartridges

Don't look at the price of the toner, since print capacity is different for just about all of them.
Calculate out a cost per page by looking for the capacity of the cartridge & divide it by the cost. For example, the toner for the HP I linked above is $63 for a 2100 page capacity [adorama.com]. A quick calculation shows that that's $0.0286 per page. The Brother linked above takes a 1200 page cartridge that's $44 [officemax.com], which comes out to $0.0367 per page. However, they also offer a 'more expensive' high yield cartridge that gives you 2600 pages for $71, or $.0273/page. Shop around and you can probably find any of these for less. So be sure to calculate out the cost per page when looking at toner - a 'standard' toner cartridge will give you anywhere from 500 to 3000 pages, so be sure to read the fine print. |
My main concern with this printer was to keep print costs down and there are a few features it's worth knowing about:
* duplex printing - you use fewer sheets of paper and so perhaps save a couple of quid per ream. * brother don't chip the cartridge on this model, so refilling with toner is easier and cheaper, if you want to avoid changing the cartridge each time. Few other manufacturers allow this still. * this model has separate drum and toner, so you don't have to replace both. * it has a toner save mode, quality and toner density is still OK in this mode * it is rated pretty good for electricity use |
