You had to have ordered a downloadable game from Amazon in late 2012. Otherwise, no $5 discount.

Any idea if the Crysis pack will activate on steam?

I believe any EA published game that isn't purchased via Steam directly will not activate on Steam.

It will activate on Origin though.

Sometimes the key easily activates on origin, sometimes not.
I believe crysis is one of those games that don't easily activate on origin, and say its an invalid key.
If that happens, just contact customer service, and they should help you activate it on origin if you want.

Yep, that's what I had to do with Crysis. You can do it over the support chat system via the Origin client. They accepted my Steam key for Crysis, no questions asked. :)

How exactly do they confirm the key and add it to the account? Do you just type" I got xxxx-xxxx-xxxx key from amazon, please add it to my origin account" Or do you have to show some kind of receipt?
I don't have origin, I'm just curious of the process.

All you say is that I'm trying to register my key for Crysis and the key is not working. Don't tell them where the key is from. They'll ask you for the key to confirm it's valid and then they'll manually add it to your Origin account. I also did this for an ancient copy of SimCity 4 on CD and they accepted that key and also gave me the Simcity 4 Deluxe for my Origin account. The whole process takes about 5 minutes.

Most of the newer EA game keys (purchased from Amazon, etc) register automatically without having to go through this process.

While I think EA has treated gamers pretty poorly over the years, I can only say good things about my experience using Origin. This includes EA's behavior over the $20 discount/unlimited free games snafu a few months back. EA allowed every one of those free games "purchased" to be kept via Origin.

I have 7 accounts for free game. Can I add 7keys from 7accounts to 1 account?

I can't say for sure but my guess is no since the games are registered to different accounts. But that's a good question to ask their support to see if they'll move all the games into one account.

Are the $5 discounts codes that were emailed or do they just apply to eligible games? I know I bought some stuff on Amazon, but I dont remember getting any codes in my email.

There's no code. You should have received an email from Amazon about a Editor's Choice discount though. You can always try to order something on the EC list and see if the discount is applied at the checkout screen just before your actual transaction is completed.

Origin only? Not a Fing chance. Would not install that client for free.

I think you will find that not to be true in any way. If you are not kidding, you will find out for yourself in time. I will not take the time to explain to you why that is a very uninformed statement.

Peace

I hate Origin as well, but I'm not going to let that fact make me miss 30% of the games out there because of it. Pretty much rules out most sports games, most driving games, and about 25% of the fps games out there.

Anyways, lets keep this thread about the deal, not the client. Some people like steam, some people like origin, we get it. Annoyed that every pc game deal thread devolves into discussing the client. Numerous threads and blogs are out there already that discuss that topic.

it sure does... Steam/Valve is just a horrible company. their simple lack of ability to talk to a real person at any time about anything makes dealing with them about issues impossible. the fact you can lose your entire library of games for months based on a billing issue, on their side, is just crazy.
hate them.

i've had Origin client installed since the Alpha for BF3, never once had a problem. you guys and your hate of Origin is just amazing. only thing Steam has going for it is the winter sales... otherwise, i stay far far away.

VirginiaBob 01-25-2013 03:52 AM

Anyways, please take your discussions about the game client outside this thread. The game client is clearly stated in the thread title. Make your own decision. Thank you.

Is there a list of all the games the EC is good for (like this bundle), not just those listed on the EC page?
