American Express Platinum (US) 100k Sign Up Offer

from flyertalk
here is the process

You need to do the CreditCards Card Match here: https://www.creditcards.com/cardmatch/

I put in all my information without my SSN. I had to do it in an incognito browser tab. Amex Platinum 100k Link showed up for me... Clicked "Apply Here" and it worked! I was approved for 100k MR after $3,000 Spending in 3 Mo's. I received a confirmation e-mail shortly thereafter with my approval information.

Also placed a phone call to American Express to confirm the sign up offer.

OFFER IS DEAD

***You can apply for Global Entry directly for $100 USD. No need to use third party provider(s) and have to pay them extra fees.
***Direct link = http://www.globalentry.gov/howtoapply.html

1/10/13 - Don't want to rain on any of the experts parade here but I have a relative who has a green card, she applied for the platinum and has called twice confirming eligibility for the 100k points and it was confirmed both times. They noted her account and provided a reference number.

For those who worry if they have the promotion loaded to their account, just send a secure msg online and they will reply to confirm on that.

Starwood Gold Status
Being Platinum means you can upgrade your status for free, just call the number on the back of your card and provide your SPG number, they will process the upgrade on the call. Enjoy~ info provided by fatwalletcat

DO NOT APPLY FOR BOTH CARDS - NOT ELIGIBLE FOR BONUS ON THE 2ND APPROVED CARD- This is not true, got bonus for both!
Contacted customer Rep , one will be eligible for both 100k and 50K bonus points by applying at same time , if does not own any gold /platinum card earlier:bounce:. Not necessarily. How many times have you been told bad info from a CS rep?
Confirmed BOTH BONUSES from Flyertalk:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/20...st805.html

Here's a summary of what is possible (from personal experience) and as someone who already has Business Gold Card:
Got the offer for both Plat and Gold
First applied for Plat, got instant approval
Then applied for Gold, got instant approval
Confirmed emails regarding both accounts
So in summary, $450 annual fee for both cards in 1st year, spend $4,000 in 4 months, and get 150,000 MR points (Clarification: this is extremely YMMV; there has been data indicating this will not work, while another person has had luck with this - from Flyertalk:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/20...st381.html).
Rumors are that if you apply for AMEX cards within a short period of time, it will not be considered as separate credit inquiries on your credit report.
==> Confirmed 1 credit pull on EX for both Plat and Gold applications done sequentially on same day. If any one company does more than one pull in a 30 day period you can call them to have all but one removed

I am editing this but not deleting out of respect for OP, this is NOT true Amex WILL NOT give you 2 promotions, I can verify this for a FACT. the terms below state it. Once you apply for one card/offer and get approved for the card offer you are considered to have that card and that disqualifies you from any other offers. EVEN IF YOU GET AN EMAIL that says you will get the points. As the terms are still the same regardless of the email. This is alot of money to risk hoping you are able to skate past the system and qualify for both *Updated statement regarding double promo; TY

Key Terms for Bonus Points:
"Welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have had this product within the last 12 months or any Consumer ZYNC , Green or Gold Card account within the last 90 days."

As long as you do not have the cards listed above in the time frame mentioned, you should qualify (i.e. Delta Gold Skymiles does not exclude you from getting points).

If you get an error trying to complete the application, try again, as servers may be overloaded.

To be eligible to receive bonus points, you must be enrolled in the Membership Rewards® program at the time of spend.

Note: You have to enter your REAL name and billing address to get this offer. They are searching your credit history by your name and address. A social security number is NOT required to see the offer on the credidcards.com site.

Amex platinum card benefits [creditcardforum.com]

Please be aware of what kind of card this is. This is a CHARGE CARD not a CREDIT CARD it requires you to pay in full at the end of each billing cycle, you cant carry a balance over to the next month, or make a minimum payment initially. After you have had the card for quite awhile they might allow carrying of a balance but the interest is much higher than on a typical lending credit card.

Tips:) For $3000 spent in 3 months, use amazon checkout to transfer money to you account (limit $500 per month), then pay your card. Or just buy $3000 walmart gift card to use on groceries or visa cards.

One of the benefits is $200 in airline reimbursement per calander year. There should be just enough time to get $200 this year and another $200 early next year. Making the fee only $50 for the year.
The $200 per year is called “fee credit” not “fRee credit”!
Quote:

$200 Airline Fee Credit
Enroll and select an airline to receive up to $200 annually in statement credits for incidental fees such as checked bags, in-flight refreshments, and change fees.*
Details:
Statement Credits: Incidental air travel fees must be charged on the enrolled Card account for the benefit to apply. Incidental air travel fees must be separate charges from airline ticket charges. Fees not charged by the Card member’s airline of choice (e.g. wireless internet and fees incurred with airline alliance partners) do not qualify for statement credits. Airline tickets, upgrades, mileage points purchases, mileage points transfer fees, gift cards, duty free purchases, and award tickets are not deemed to be incidental fees. The airline must submit the incidental air travel fees under the appropriate merchant code, industry code, or required service or product identifier for the charge to be identified. Purchases made by both the Basic and Additional Card members on the enrolled Card account are eligible for statement credits.
Looks like you’ll only be able to use these credit on checked bags and inflight drinks!!!
Above regarding, $200 credit only applicable to incidentals is NOT TRUE. Several people report buying airline gift cards online and getting the credit back including myself! -npatel3c

IF YOU WANT TO CHECK STATUS OF YOUR APPLICATION:
STATUS OF YOUR APPLICATION [americanexpress.com]

LIST OF BEST WAYS TO UTILIZE THE 100K MR POINTS:

1. Airline tickets (Transfer points to mileage programs 100k points = 100k miles which can be used for $2k+ in ticket fees)

Attached screens found on the internet for those who need it. Thanks to fatwalletcat.

is it worth it with a 450 annual fee not waived?

milko 01-07-2013 02:12 PM

Wish I actually traveled to justify the annual fee. Good deal.

sterlingfox 01-07-2013 02:14 PM

$450 annual fee? Pass.

Buckyball60 01-07-2013 02:15 PM

Got the same offer. Is working without SSN in the form.

SophiaM 01-07-2013 02:16 PM

"Currently, our systems are not responding. Please try again later or call/contact us as follows....."

if they were, this would be a big thumb up. But now it is a thumb down.

zigzag13 01-07-2013 02:16 PM

It has $450 Annual Fee
:-(

MazdaMP 01-07-2013 02:18 PM

this is a HOT deal, 100k MR points are worth more than $1000!

slickpokerdealer 01-07-2013 02:20 PM

Holy cow.. It shows $250 reward dollars for Blue Cash Preferred.. I just applied got approved for the same card with $150 from Amex site directly last week :(

slmrm 01-07-2013 02:23 PM

This should be some hot deal for frequent fliers with club access and 100 k points. Is this site reliable OP? I am seeing some good offers and very tempting to apply for something...

GeoffreyN 01-07-2013 02:36 PM

More interestingly, I got an offer for 50K points after 1k spend with a PRG card and a waved first year fee! No SSN entered. IMO that's a great offer!

bitachu 01-07-2013 02:36 PM

for those of you scared of the 450$..u can get a 200$ credit(in gift cards to airlines) on a yearly basis...be sure to read up about the card..many many blog post about it..

fyugioh 01-07-2013 02:39 PM

Can't get the offer. 1st year waived?

Amex never waives the fee for Platinum cards.

iherebyresign 01-07-2013 02:44 PM

even with the 450 fee, the 100k points are worth at least $1,000 -- possibly much more if you transfer to partner airway reward programs. There are many other benefits to go along with the card, but even if you just want the bonus, it's worth paying $450 for one year then canceling. How many other sign up bonuses will net you $550?

Buckyball60 01-07-2013 02:45 PM

Too bad United/Continental is no longer in the Membership Rewards Program.

JNadrowski 01-07-2013 02:48 PM

This is a FANTASTIC offer. Usually, it is only 50k points at best!

thecompdude 01-07-2013 02:51 PM

Thanks. Got Approved.

It should be noted, that the thread on FT is closed due to moderator action not to say that this isn't an amazing deal. With the bonuses when transferred to partners. Just an FYI

I had my card for 5 months now and this is what I have used so far. Easily got $450/year back using these benefits.

-$200 Airline increment fee reimbursed.
-Unlimited airport lounge access on US Airways, Delta, AA with Platinum card.
-AMEX pays for Priority Select, which gives you access to over 500 lounges world wide, for main card holder and if you can get 3 extra cards for $175, and AMEX pays for those 3 as well.
-Book your hotel with Platinum card and it gives you early check in, late check out as late as 4 pm, usually free continental breakfast for 2.
-Free concierge service. I've used to locate iPhone 5 when it was so hard to find, and they called 30 places nearby my house and found one.
-90 days Purchase protection. Any purchase you made within 90 days can be reimbursed for any reason. Theft, damaged, defective, etc...

These are the main benefits I use it for. Absolutely worth $450 a year. If you get priority select, they give you 5 year membership, so even you cancel after the first year, you are left with extra 4 years of Priority Select.

I probably got this on an SD a few years ago.

haydeno 01-07-2013 03:10 PM

Great deal, 100k points is worth ~1250 via rewards2cash plus can buy $200 gift card for some airlines and get credit = $1450 bonus. any one know if fee is prorated if I cancel in 2-3 months after I get points? If so then fee would only be ~$100 for 3 months = over $1300 net

Mark111 01-07-2013 03:10 PM

i love SD!!

slmrm 01-07-2013 03:11 PM

damn OP! You made me apply for one more card when I decided not any more for one more year! thanks!

"Congratulations, your application is approved.

Welcome Benefits: 100,000 Membership rewards points after spending $3000 in 3 months! "

Buckyball60 01-07-2013 03:11 PM

Crap I just saw:

Welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have had this product within the last 12 months or any Consumer ZYNC®, Green or Gold Card account within the last 90 days

hahahaha 01-07-2013 03:12 PM

Are those points only redeemable for airline related fees (ticket, etc)?

does this include the gold premier card or is this just the regular gold?

For any amex cards, if you have had the same card within 12 months , you will not be getting the Signup bonus points. Amex has become very tough on that! Make sure you have'nt had the same product within 12 months before applying! (ie (if you had gold premier don't apply for gold premier again before 12 month, same applies to platinum also)

Have the same as yours, but it has nothing to do with this one. The biz one doesn't provide as much benefits as the true platinum card if you travel.

zodiac711 01-07-2013 03:18 PM

Tempting... Wish I traveled a bit more to justify it, as the travel benefits are PHENOMENAL...

people are nuts or naive to give such sites their SSN. Even if the site is legit today does not mean that they will not get hacked tomorrow or in 6 years.

I'm really tempted after seeing this benefit.

Global Entry
Use your Card to apply and we’ll credit the application fee

I fly a few times a year, so not enough to be gold with Delta and get this covered, but having to deal with TSA is always the worst part of any trip.

No, and I don't know, but I don't trust non-financial institutions enough to do it (Amex already has my SSN through a Rewards card I have with them).

slickDe@ler 01-07-2013 03:22 PM

I got instant approval too. For Platinum, PRG, Delta Amex 45K and the Blue Cash Preferrred card. I don't travel much so wondering if the Platinum would be worthwhile. I can simply look at it like getting 100K bonus ~ $1000 - $450 Annual fee = $550 free. Put that way seems like a no-brainer.

AMAZING deal. I got in on two different versions of this card in the last 2 years and only got 50k points. 100k points is easily worth $1k, and you get $200 back/year towards airline fees (you can usually get GC's to use on flights) + lounge access! So worth it! If you have any questions feel free to ask me or PM.

Quick question, after you apply and are approved, where does it tell you that you get the 100K for spending $3,000?

For some reason my browser successfully submitted, but then errored up after submission, and in my e-mail acceptance I don't see anything about the 100K rewards.

Thanks for the help.

MadRhetoric 01-07-2013 03:38 PM

I got both the 100K points after 3K spending in 3 months with a $450 annual fee offer, and the 50K points after 1K spending in 3 months with the first year waived. I'm thinking about splurging on a trip and getting the 100K one. That's basically $750 towards a flight.... Hmmm.....

anyone know which gift cards are 1.1 point conversion? was hoping that there would be a best buy or apple gift card...

TheAJ 01-07-2013 03:47 PM

FYI, the true value of this deal is 100K points + $400. Two calender years worth of $200 rebates on airline purchases (includes gift cards, for AA atleast).

So even if you value the 100K points low, thats still atleast $1000 back NET of the fee + global entry + airline lounge access! I got in on this a few years ago (received the offer from Amex) and today I'll sign up my finance as well I suppose.

I don't know if you can buy gift cards or not if you can I missed that one. one thing about this card if you book your flight using points they give you 20% of them back. which is nice.

How do the rebates work? You pay all up front and ask for a $200 reimbursement? And you're saying 1 per calendar year, implying that you can get 2 rebates off of 1 annual fee? Thanks in advance for any help :)

So worth it! If you have any questions feel free to ask me or PM.

can we get GC for stores etc? or its only airline GC?

Welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have had this product within the last 12 months or any Consumer ZYNC®, Green or Gold Card account within the last 90 days

I have American Express Gold Card, so I am not eligible?

Damn it. I have a Gold Card right now. Wish I cancel that earlier. In the T&C, it said the bonus is only for one that doesn't have other products within 90 days.

no rebates
just select airline and use it to pay luaggae fees, incidentals etc and amex will reimburse you as statement credit.

What I did was purchase two $100 gift cards for American Airlines. A few days later I received two $100 credits.

yes you can do it twice off of one annual fee, but keep in mind the next year of your annual fee you'll only get one $200 bonus (for 2015) since you already used 2013 and 2014.

They ask which airline you fly primarily, then when you make the charges to that airline they automatically get credited back on your bill. Nothing else to do. I use Delta personally.

I decided to try. I have an AMEX Gold Business and hope it isn't considered a "consumer" gold card.

I got instant approval. Will cancel if I don't get the 100k credit.

I always avoided upgrading to Platinum but this deal seems legit.

True, but the post said that American Express never waives the fee for the platinum card. Just wanted to point out that there are ways to get it waived.

I'm in the same boat, and I just called Amex. The CS told me that I need to call back in 72 hours (when the decision about the bonus will be made), but he said that Business cards are different from Personal cards, and that I should qualify.

henucu 01-07-2013 04:26 PM

just checked their rewards website...100k points can buy 500 dollars in amex gift card. considering the 450 in annual fee, you are making only 50 dollars. I guess may be its not meant for those looking to buy gift cards. even "amazon pay with points" is like $25 for 4k points.

pezdukie 01-07-2013 04:33 PM

I got approved and confirmed the reward with a CSR at AMEX. This is perfect because my job reimburses the annual fee for this card too. Excited to have access to all of the lounges now.

For those simply looking to cash out the 100K points, there are often gift card sales that make the deals even better.

Last year I turned 50K points into $1000 of The Cheesecake Factory gift cards and sold those to Cardpool.com for 80 cents on the dollar ($800).

These points are worth about $1275 to a broker. Let me know if you need a name. Or even better if you want to use it for flights. But cashing out to a broker is better than gift cards.

Thats unheard of. Ive been employed with them for years and waiving the fee rarely ever ever happens maybe 1 in 500,000 people are able to complain their way into getting the fee waived maybe 1 in a million can get it done more than 1x

I know a longtime Centurion cardmember whom recently switched back to the Platinum since many of the benefits are identical. The biggest difference is that the Centurion will cost you $7,500 in fees just for the first year, while the Platinum Card is only $450 and you still get all of the above benefits... it easily pays for itself many times over!

Using the link below, the spend requirement to earn the bonus is only $2k within your first 3 months.

money.money 01-07-2013 04:47 PM

approved for 100,000

gloreglabert 01-07-2013 04:48 PM

Amex almost always pulls Experian.

menx 01-07-2013 04:48 PM

in for 1000, flippin on ebay.

jokes. i havent done that since 2004. but did get a card approved, been thinking about adding a personal (non-corporate) Amex card to my arsenal. This should do nicely, despite the $450 annual cost.

That's the only decent program left for international travel.

British Airways then redeem on American. They're distance based so from the West Coast it's 5 but East Coast would be fewer.

They have also had 40% and 50% conversion bonuses as well :woot:

You can apply for it, you just won't get the points :D

Flexfx 01-07-2013 04:55 PM

I might be all over this if I was not planning to close on a house within the next 8 weeks. I have a Premier Gold Rewards card and like the double point for gas and groceries, but this might spur a reason to have some fun and travel again. Thanks anyway OP!

I have the Platinum Corporate Card. The terms stated the bonus is not available to those who have had this product in the last 12 months. This is for the consumer platinum card which is a different product, no?

Right corporate cards don't disqualify you from the personal card offers

menx 01-07-2013 04:58 PM

Will having a corporate card invalidate me for the 100k points on this?

edit: haha, someone answered this very question in the post immediately above mine once the page updated.

yeshu1984 01-07-2013 04:58 PM

was approved...god damn...now to figure out how to spend 3k in 3 months

atwnsw 01-07-2013 04:58 PM

Am I the only one who can't bring up the amex platinum offer when I load in my info on the creditcards.com site? My credit score is high but it won't bring up any matching credit cards????

What am I missing?

It's not waived. he's probably like me, I am getting $400 credit from them. That's close to free, i guess.

Either he's not the primary on the card and has no idea a fee is actually paid, either he doesn't have this card but a dif one that looks similar or..... whatever this card doesn't come with no annual fee no mater what you try

Yes as long ad you haven't had the green, gold, platinum, or zync in the last 12 months. These cards are different than the blue, they are pay in full at the end of each billing cycle cards, you cant carry a balance. After you have had the card for awhile they might allow carrying of a balance but the interest is much higher then on a blue card

Im sure he is mistaken. These fees dont get waived. Amex has other cards labeld as "platinum" but they are much different than this card.

it just probably that the card issuer is not willing to offer you the deal at ths point of time.. that may happen..

atwnsw 01-07-2013 05:05 PM

I couldn't bring up the offer even though my credit is great because all 3 credit bureaus were frozen.

I unfroze each bureau and tried again each time. It wasn't until I unfroze transunion that I would see the offer.

Therefore creditcards.com uses transunion for it credit search...

$1000 minimum giftcards, air travel will be worth much more than 1000 if you transfer to partner airlines and do it right. See here: http://boardingarea.com/blogs/one...australia/

I am not sure, but my guess is no. If it's using your ssn, then no bonus points.

inmyveganopinion 01-07-2013 05:07 PM

I just edited the Wiki. Im not sure if everyone applying realizes what kind of card this is. I hope everyone that applied does realize it they are pay in full at the end of each billing cycle cards, you cant carry a balance. After you have had the card for awhile they might allow carrying of a balance but the interest is much higher than typical

GottaLoveAZ 01-07-2013 05:07 PM

So this is a charge card (pay full every month) and not truly a credit card??
