Request review indoor dog ramp for my basset hound

My dog has trouble going up and down steps as well as jumping. His favorite sleeping spot is on the couch and he'll just stare at it all night till I come downstairs and help him out.

I've been looking at this ramp since it seems to be good indoors

http://www.amazon.com/Pet-Gear-St...s=dog+ramp

However, any suggestions would be nice. I'm also a DIY kinda person so I'd be willing to make my own as well... Just remember that I have a basset hound :)

Also I choose that ramp because I'm a student so my budget is very limited and that ramp is already stretching it.

Thanks for the help

i have a basset hound/beagle mix! :bounce: so i feel compelled to respond, even though i can only tell you what NOT to get!

i have 2 sets, one is one of those carpet covered stairs that you can add extensions to, i think they were off an infomercial or something-- they were a gift so i'm sorry i don't know exactly where they are from. but they basically look like these [petco.com]. the carpet-y cover can be removed and washed which is awesome, and it is definitely the set that my dogs are willing to use. they are, however, a little short. and i feel like the dogs are still basically jumping to get on the couch or bed.

the other pet stairs i have (these [amazon.com]) are the worst! they are super super lightweight, like to the point that my dogs (especially the basset hound bc he is a cranky old man) won't go near them, because they feel super flimsy. i've tried placing them so they're squeezed in between the bed and the wall, just to hold them still. super ghetto looking and dogs still don't touch it.

also, i think i have seen the ones you linked to, at petco. so maybe you can go check them out there with your dog and see what he thinks! it took a while of me coaxing the dogs up the stairs with treats before they were willing to do it on their own.
