Heard a rumor about this deal a couple days ago. Looks like it's true. Planning to swing by to pick up Dredd anyways. Gonna sell the controller so I can end up getting a good price for TM.

caljr 01-08-2013 10:23 PM

rep'd.
Missed out on the last Twisted Metal deal a while ago so I'm in this time.
Went though ShopDiscover for the extra 5%.

Think I'll jump on this. If I can sell the controller for $35, which appears to be about average on eBay, I can get Twisted for $10, less if you include cashback.

Copped one, thanks! No use for the game but the white controller's super nice... and can easily off the game for $25-30 on eBay... making it $15ish for a new controller. Can't beat that price.

TDMVP73 01-08-2013 11:47 PM

If anyone's buying this and wants to swap $5 in Amazon for a $5 Best Buy Rewards Certificate, PM me.

I have one that expires on 02-23-13 and I don't shop there that often.

kevincott 01-08-2013 11:57 PM

Twisted Metal was a serious game for the PS. Too bad its exclusive and wont go Xbox360.

Best Buy with 100% trade in bonus.

I would say you'd get a lot more for it on Ebay, but once 20-30 copies get listed in the next 3 days, and the going rate for this game tanks by $15-20, probably not.

Are they still doing the 100% extra at Best Buy? Thought it ended on Saturday. If so, I need to get there ASAP.

Also keep in mind the minus 12% on eBay, plus shipping, & the whole hassle.

Anfernee 01-09-2013 06:23 AM

Oops sorry for the double post. Forgot to say my original comment. The game itself is actually really really fun. Challenging but not too hard, & the voice acting is really well done. The cut scenes are graphic, but if you like movies like Saw & the like, you'll enjoy them.

Played it with a friend and beat the game. Really good replay value as well.

STICKYBUMPS 01-09-2013 06:33 AM

I liked it, but most people I spoke to about it did not. The default controls are TOUGH to get used to. Many folks switch to a more logical button map, but for me it was too late, I'd already learned to adapt. I have to imagine the number of online players by this time is next to 0, this has been out for quite awhile, I haven't played it in months. Also, it pales in comparison to prior versions of the game.

executivedealer 01-09-2013 06:50 AM

I've been waiting on a good deal to get a second controller for my ps3 i picked up a few weeks ago, is this the deal to jump on or should I wait? I'm not that much of a hardcore gamer, but would like to have a second one around in case I have friends that come over.

As someone that spent countless hours playing Twisted Metal 2 with friends when I was a kid on the original Playstation, the controls were spot on. I would also say that this is far and away the best version of the game to come out since I was young.

SnakePL 01-09-2013 07:09 AM

Oh wow, seriously
I bought this yesterday for ~$60 at BB.
Can I go to BB and ask them to get the price adjusted?
I don't want to look like an ass.

The Profit 01-09-2013 07:12 AM

Thanks, we just broke a controller a few days ago and this is like getting a free game with a new controller. 7 year old boy should enjoy Twisted Metal too.

Bizmat 01-09-2013 07:12 AM

Been waiting for a decent deal on Twisted Metal for a while now and having an extra controller will be great to play this and Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale with friends.

You have like 30 days to price adjust. If they won't do it just rebuy it today for the lower price and returned the unopened packed with your old receipt.

TheManOfSteel 01-09-2013 07:16 AM

In for 2. Looks like I can offload the Twisted Metal Games for 25-30 and keep the controllers, this will allow me to sell my original black PS3 controller which was from the original Fat PS3 that doesn't have rumble/vibrate capability. Thanks OP!

I like it, and use it as my primary controller. I got it w/ the Killzone Trilogy deal around Black Friday.

glazedfaith 01-09-2013 07:17 AM

Is the game this comes with the same as the retail version, or is it marked not for individual resale with a different UPC? Thinking it would be easier to resell if it were just a retail copy in the box. I'm just looking for a ps3 controller for this [thegameklip.com].

I didn't open the game yet, but I did use the controller.

Thats odd - because I have rumble/vibrate and turn that crap off while playing games (BF3)

The very original batch of ps3 fats didn't have the rumble packs. They were extremely lightweight, but other than the packs nearly identical, version of the dual shocks.

They can't be found anywhere anymore. Personally I hated them because of the weight. Too light, felt like hollow plastic

ISAR 01-09-2013 07:30 AM

Anyone know if the game is individually wrapped inside the box with the controller? Does the game say no resale value or something like that? Thanks

It's a matter of personal preference I suppose. I played Uncharted 1 and 2 with vibrate, and w/out it... and preferred the interaction of the rumble. To each his own!

TheJonah 01-09-2013 07:31 AM

game is indivudally wrapped.
thew controller has an anti static cover but its not individually wrapped

SuzukiDan7 01-09-2013 07:53 AM

Great deal! The controller alone is worth this, and I've been waiting for a deal on the new TM. Used to love the old ones!

daveruse 01-09-2013 08:02 AM

Thanks! Need a new controller. TM goes for $20-25 on eBay so $20 for a brand new Dualshock is just what I needed!

Kingram 01-09-2013 08:07 AM

not really. First that controller was uglier, second you can sell TM for much more than GTA 4 so they are pretty equal deals. The killzone bundle was best cause it has the best value, i bought it and trade in killzone immidiately for $25 or if you have time dealing with ebay/craigslist you will get even more.

See the link below for reference. Those controllers were the original sixaxis controllers, and are fairly non existant. Hold a flashlight up to them and you will see that they have some transluscence and, as you stated, are far lighter than the dualshock3 sixaxis.

Looks like 13% now if fixed price, or 9% for auction. I haven't sold on eBay in years, but man, these fees really did go up.

Killzone triology + digital camo controller was by far the best ps3 controller bundle deal in recent memory.

You trade in the game for store credit (gift card)?

If so, how much would I get for TM in BestBuy?
It's unopened and in original packaging.

Trade in value for the game alone was $25 when the deal was still going on, I would assume that number has come down drastically now, though. If we were in the same area I would totally trade you. I want another of the camo controllers, don't really care about the game.

Yeah, they give you the trade in value on a gift card. Looks like the 100% extra is in effect until 1/12/12. This game is currently trading for $6, so $12 trade in value total. More than once I have bought bundles for in store pick up, opened the boxes right there in store and traded the games in for credit. Got some cheap wii motes doing this with a flingsmash bundle.

I am pretty sure that it does not have a barcode since the Killzone Trilogy had no barcode when I bought with the controller bundle----so you won't be able to trade in at Amazon.

TheLounge 01-09-2013 09:54 AM

I am def in for one, had like $140 bb credit still burning a hole in my pocket after my massive spring game flipping spree of 2012 =P (made over $1300 in credit)

Also, I def think the white controller looks tons better (it is more crisp and refined looking) than the camo. I am only mad I missed out on the camo bundle cause I have never owned any ps3 Killzone game, but I would have traded in that ugly ass controller.

tldr, in 4 1

Thanks op!

39.99 for a new ps3 controller is not a bad deal. You also get a game with your purchase. Its hard to find ps3 controllers on sale

Twisted Metal 3 comes with NO BAR CODE......it simply says "not for resale" where the bar code should be.

uffdabock 01-09-2013 11:47 AM

I purchased the KillZone Triology bundle and still have been trying to sell just the PS3 game on craigslist ever since. I listed it immediately for $30 on craigslist. After 2 days I listed it at $25, then I listed it at $20. Now I am listing it at $18 and the only people who msg me ask if $15 would be ok. I have a high-res picture of the shrink wrapped game and everyone knows it is brand new.

Ebay now seems to have people selling their brand new copies for $20-$25(if free shipping). So you are getting ~$13-18. From all the listings I followed right after the deal went live I saw an average sale amt of ~$27. After shipping and fees your getting ~$20. I don't understand where these $30+ comments are coming from and I really wish I knew where I could have traded it in for $25 right away.

It is still $40 new on amazon, BB, etc so you would think you could save someone $10-20 and they would be happy, but in this economy apparently even 50% off isn't a slick deal, least in my experience.

Dejavooh 01-09-2013 11:52 AM

These absolutely do have "not for resale" on them, including the Killzone Trilogy. The back bottom corner where the bar code should be has this printed there and has no bar code.:shake:

It's not as much profit as it seems.

Red controller has a lower resell value. For some reason people prefer the classic white look.

The white controller is slick looking. Easily my favorite color besides the standard black.

Collapse 01-09-2013 01:54 PM

Would have jumped on this if I didn't already get the Killzone 3 Dualshock 3 combo back on BF. (And I already have 3 controllers lol).

The very original batch of ps3 fats didn't have the rumble packs. They were extremely lightweight, but other than the packs nearly identical, version of the dual shocks.

They can't be found anywhere anymore. Personally I hated them because of the weight. Too light, felt like hollow plastic

Jeez, you guys are making me feel like I have some kind of rare hot ticket comodity item in this original lightweight / non-vibrate controller. I currently just use it for a PC controller using MotionInJoy. This dualshock 3 was going to replace it.

It is still $40 new on amazon, BB, etc so you would think you could save someone $10-20 and they would be happy, but in this economy apparently even 50% off isn't a slick deal, least in my experience.

that's ok, everyone here tried to make a buck at some point on a time and ended up wasting their time and money. We were all able to unload our trilogies at Gamestop. I personally got rid off 4 games and sold other 4 controllers high enough, that I essentially got $100 gamestop credits for $20.

Just went to Best Buy on lunch a mile from work and picked this up, repped!

So did I, so i just put the camo controller on ebay. Looking at other auctions it seems like I can get up to $35 for it.

Agreed. I sold the fugly camo controller the day after I received the KZ deal for $40 locally, thus making the game free. :)

Will likely dump TM after I finish it for $20 and keep this controller...rounding the number I own out to a nice even 10. :woot:

I think there are a lot of exaggerations about CL flips in SD threads. And people do have a way of leaving out sales tax/gasoline/ebay fees/paypal fees/shipping in their calculation of how much they "made" on their big Ebay flip.

As far as unloading games when they are featured as a flash deal or deal-of-the-day, you have to be quick. The market for titles like KZ and TM on Ebay is not that big, it won't take much of an increase in supply (i.e. 20-30 flippers) with panicked sellers willing to keep dropping their asking price every other day (sound familiar) to totally send the market price of the game into the crapper, to the point where you will be lucky to net much more than $10 after fees/shipping. That's what will happen with TM in short order. And the Ebay price won't go back up, it's probably due for a MSRP cut anyway.

Even if you are quick to list, sometimes it just blows up on you.

Kingram 01-09-2013 05:21 PM

Love the look of that Camo controller, something different then the plain solid colors.

your not going to be able to get that soon.

deals2dream 01-09-2013 06:04 PM

just got one and hope its worth it. read reviews the controller is not the same as the original one you get from ps3, any idea?

AndrewI 01-09-2013 06:25 PM

Just picked one up at Best Buy today ! Thank you SD. Love the white controller. Idk why people are thinking it's not the same original controller, but it is!! It's the original SONY controller, in white color, not some knock-off controller. If you got one that doesn't work perfectly, exchange it for another one, because it should really be the original stuff. :-D

nope believe it or not, the black one is proven to be the most durable (by internet forums of course) :P

Huh....thats odd. Maybe it depends on the year they make it or the factory that it comes from? But it is still made by SONY, I'm holding it in my hands right now and it is the same as the black one that came with the PS3. I got the cameo one too, and it works just fine so far :-D

Enjoy that cameo controller while it's around, because that will be brief.

WTFD4V1D 01-09-2013 07:22 PM

So I bought two packs. I plugged in the USB to charge them for a few minutes. While plugged in, they work. The moment I unplug them, I can't get them to turn on. I've charged new controllers like this for a few minutes before and they worked fine once I unplugged them. Not sure why both aren't turning on.

i ran into the same thing on my camo ps3 controller. I switched to a different usb cable and it worked.

This is a good deal, but I'm just gonna let it go. I already have two controllers and I don't care about this game at all.

yapchagi 01-09-2013 07:31 PM

I only want the game and I'm not sure how much I can sell the controller on ebay...

Waiting until the game hits $9.99 or $4.99. I don't know how long I should wait...

Smart guy, resisting a so-so game and a so-so deal. I like your self control, a lot more people on this site need that as well as myself.

THIS.

To clarify, I listed TM @$30 on Craigslist at 9:15 AM (CST) yesterday, just after I placed my pickup order. I got a reply about noon, and I had sold it off by 3:00 PM, ~2 miles from my home, meeting the guy at a place I was already going to be, so no additional fuel cost. I literally picked it up at Best Buy, ripped the game out of the bundle box, and handed it over minutes later in front of the nearby Gamestop. Talk about your cash and carry!

To put things in perspective though, it really just worked out for me. I just remembered that I hadn't deleted the CL post yet, and 24 hours later, I haven't gotten any emails from anyone other than the original guy. So don't go into something like this EXPECTING a specific amount. I would have been happy with the controller at $25, so if necessary, I could have come down on the game another $10 easily and been happy (in fact, that was my original plan if the guy had tried to haggle).

They're not all easy money makers, and it's especially difficult for everyone to make money on one deal. There's a reason the stores do markdowns.

Even with how it worked out for me, I don't see anybody having any problem flipping the game locally for 20 bucks, so I'd say ~25 or less with tax is pretty slick deal for a new controller. The same goes for the game, so-so or not, after selling the controller for 30-35 dollars brand new.

AndrewI 01-10-2013 10:57 AM

Best Buy still offers the 100% Trade-in bonus offer, Confirmed at Pleasant Hill Best Buy in CA. Check online at bestbuy.com for how much your game is worth in trade in, then they will double that offer.
:-D
I returned killzone trilogy that came with the cameo controller for $22 !! I dont like the controllers of the game and the player responses seem delayed so I'd rather just stick to COD or MW. Much more smoother.

Lol, why not take the controller apart and wipe the area with alcohol wipes...takes 10 minutes at most.

I got mine in the mail last night. I have an older PS3, and I lost my controller charge cable. I wanted to start playing the PS3 again, and figured this is a good game, 2nd controller, and I could use the cable to charge both....nope. No cable in the box.

Still like it. Looks like a cool controller. I just need to buy a cable to be able to use it. No big deal. Just a surprise.

Joberk 01-15-2013 11:04 AM

Why not find a spare camera cord? I found a Sony DSC cord laying around that uses the same connector as this PS3.

spextar 02-10-2013 07:26 PM

Got in on this deal, sold the TM on CL - Controller came out to be just a few bucks after the flip.

The question I have is, does this controller have a better battery compared to the stand alone controller? I bought it the day this deal was posted, charged up and gave it to my son. He has been playing FIFA 13 few hours a day, longer on weekends and this controller still hasn't shown the "low battery" message. That's over 100 hours of playing. OTOH, I have a store-bought standard black controller that I use to play the same game and I play much less than my son, yet I already had to charge twice.

Do the whites last longer than the black ones?

EDIT: Btw, "Do the whites last longer than the black ones?" is not a racially motivated question of sexual nature.
