Just use a random credit card number, I used 4235345423590283 with some future expiration date and a random security code.

Yes, it sure is. My order just went through before it became FP. I wanted to get one for my sister, and sure enough, it's frozen. I refreshed SD's FP, and saw it there, so it's definitely the SD Effect.

Spoke to rep at hoboninja. She stated that since the amount is $0, there will be no charge on the card. The card is just used to keep on file for order reference. Thought about cancelling but seems logical since she said there is no charge for the order. Any opinions?

Chozer 01-11-2013 01:52 PM

Up to 5 orders in, going for at least 15.

Yea I definitely would be wary of any site that allows random card numbers to pass. That would mean they are not running any sort of Pre-Authorization on any of the cards. I'm not sure I'm aware of any legit companies who don't perform a Pre-Auth. It's $0 so they may be just phishing for your name and address. I could be completely wrong but buyer beware!

FYI: If someone actually has that credit card #, using that is fraudulent and can be tracked back to your IP Address.

Bad idea to ever falsify credit info and even worse of an idea to add it to the WIKI to promote people to be shady.

Jiangster 01-11-2013 01:55 PM

You can use 4111-1111-1111-1111 it is a test credit card number

Looks like a cheap one for sure....My experience with free items says this is going to be another junk. I used to be like most people in slick deals, but got bored of throwing away things in trash and felt really bad about getting them for free. So stopped paying attention to cheap free items even if it hits front page.

You know you just committed felony fraud right? You just entered someone else's credit card number. Please use your brain.

Don't be silly. On the rare instance that you did indeed type in someone else's credit card number, there is no way in hell you put in the correct verification number in too.

I imagine the top left corner of my windshield could work better than my current system, which is to sit my cell phone on top of the little pop-out trash tray (which actually works okay as long as I don't corner too fast). Doesn't hurt to try. If that fails, I can also try to stick my phone on my driver side window for a better position when using speaker phone.

I like it.. when you said 'Lets Crash the site!!!'

SDers does this all the time... ;)

joestarr 01-11-2013 03:30 PM

Really you could change the last digit on your card, and if they really tried to bring a fraud case for the 0 dollar purchase, then you could just say you missed typed 1 number. Cant imagine that would be fraud.

sri0509 01-11-2013 03:31 PM

took almost 15 mins to get the order thru but finally got it.. thanks

Powerzzz 01-11-2013 03:34 PM

Doesn't hurt to try. If that fails, I can also try to stick my phone on my driver side window for a better position when using speaker phone.

I've seen a number of deals under $10 for mounts to hold a phone. Wouldn't those be a more efficient, not to mention much safer, option? I wouldn't trust this to hold your phone up on the windshield or window for too long before it falls down and possibly has you fishing for your phone in the middle of driving.

krazyshopper 01-11-2013 03:43 PM

i finally made it into checkout but the page is still loading. I give it a 50/50 chance the order will go through with the site being hammered like this.

Back when I was a little kid (late 70s, early 80s), everyone used something VERY VERY similar to hold soap bars and make sure they don't slide all over the bathroom sink.

Agreed that those will work better, but it doesn't hurt to try out a free product (within reason of course).

Are you guys selecting PP or CC for payment? thanks

Did you choose PayPal?? I got same message. It says you cannot choose PayPal for $0.00 orders. I tried it anyway and that is the same message I got. I do not care to put my CC info in for a $0.00 order, so I am gonna pass on this one.

Going to sick it to the windshield for GPS and stare at the clouds while driving. Either that or stick the iPad below the shower head and hope for the best. What a dumbass product. Free is free though, right?

what's crazy is they don't verify that the cc number or the associated billing addy is legit... just stockpiling cc numbers?

rhornback 01-12-2013 07:07 AM

OK I am trying to find out why I would need one of these...

Are these for suction during phone sex?

Question seconded.

when I saw this yesterday I was like, wtf? I get that it's free, but that seems to be the only thing that makes this a "deal", would anyone really get this if they had to pay money?

And now today it's FP. To each their own I guess. Pointless crap is still pointless crap, even if it's free.

KiinGPurP 01-12-2013 07:16 AM

saying cc information isnt valid and being a general pain in the ass thumbs down, trivial little shit anyways and they want to spam you not worth it imo

kwattro 01-12-2013 07:20 AM

thanks OP...I'll give this a try. Note, that the coupon didnt work at first, and I had to try it like three times before it did.

Also used a bogus CC# and it seems to have gone through. We'll see.

Artia 01-12-2013 07:22 AM

Just use a fake CC number (like the one posted on this thread). Seems like they're not checking/verifying it, and if you go to your account on hoboninja, the "CC" info is not listed!
