A lot of good ones. Thanks!

Llyncoed 01-17-2013 05:42 PM

I'm waiting for a sale on The Replacements /Paul Westerberg...one day, maybe. Or piece by piece with free codes.

blockhead 01-17-2013 06:30 PM

This is due to the new Apple apps no doubt. Thanks, OP!

xxxHolic 01-17-2013 07:00 PM

It's time to use my Pepsi code.

pbmpharmacist 01-17-2013 07:07 PM

Some good stuff there, owned most of what I liked here but I got the script (listening now, definitely worth 3 bucks)

armywifeandtwo 01-17-2013 07:10 PM

N-Sync. Epic.

Do people still listen to them?

In any case, I see 3 great ones:

Boston by Boston
At Folsom Prison by Johnny Cash
Dirty Dancing by Dirty Dancing (Motion Picture Soundtrack)

TY. My kids will be thrilled.

Steeldeals 01-17-2013 07:12 PM

Thumbs up for MJ's Thriller.

Thank you OP, getting a few of these. Highly recommend the Fiona Apple and Nas albums if anyone doesn't have those.

From what I read, it's a mobile website that Apple IOS users can access through Safari. Since the new website is NOT an app, Amazon bypasses the 30% fee that Apple charges app developers for in-app purchases. Looks like Amazon is passing on the savings to consumers -- for now at least.

Here's an article on the new site [techcrunch.com].

The Clash's London Calling is a must for those who don't have it. Rolling Stone listed it as the greatest album of the 80's...

Wu-Tang! Wu-Tang!

tnor 01-17-2013 07:45 PM

Lauryn Hill's album, while getting on in years, is still fantastic. Really excited that there is some good selection in here and Amazon is at least temporarily going back to the pricing that made me spend so much money there when they had good daily mp3 deals.

Also, #8 on the list of 500 Greatest Albums of All Time [rollingstone.com].

A lot of these "albums" are just "albums" of one or two versions of a single.

highlifelight 01-17-2013 07:46 PM

Is anybody mining actual cd's these days for deals there?

With the new autorip feature, I'm really much more interested in that.

That's because the OP linked to a search for $2.99 downloads which has albums, EPs, and singles. I believe the OP's list covers what is on sale.

The Alice in Chains album is a steal for $3 if you even remotely like them. Hands down their best album IMHO. (of course, it's all their hits...and it's a live acoustic session, one of the last appearances before Layne Staley passed away)

johndoehoe22 01-17-2013 08:04 PM

I think I'll just buy Bruce Springsteen Greatest Hits for 3.99 instead of buying the 2 other albums for 2.99 each.

Lots of great albums on the list for sure.

menace33 01-17-2013 08:04 PM

Some good old school Rap & Hip-Hop albums. Too bad I already have a CD of it from years ago. But still good stuff. Some whack stuff too though but that is to be expected.

Yea, I'm debating buying Fugees - The Score now. I already have it on my computer but not on Amazon.

Nas - Illmatic is a must have and possibly the greatest hip-hop album of all-time. I have it on my computer but not on Amazon. I'll probably pass on that.

The Score brings back a lot of memories for me. Amazing album.

Those are the 2 best hip-hop albums on the list IMO

There are some very good albums on sale for $3.99 as well. Some that I found pretty quickly (not a comprehensive list):

Muse: The 2nd Law
The Lumineers: The Lumineers
The Black Keys: El Camino
fun.: Some Nights
deadmau5: <album title goes here>

I'm sure there are others, but alt-tabbing and copying/pasting is a pain from the iPad. Cheers!

Edit: here's a link to a list of $3.99s: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_nr...99&x=9&y=9

Well you wish upon a star, that turns into a plane
And I guess that's right on par, Who's left to blame?

If you were a pill, I'd take a handful at my will
And I'd knock you back with something sweet and strong
Plenty of times you wake up in February make-up
Like a fool and the morning star you're gone

Wu-Tang's music is tasteless and scummy. They give me a headache when I listen to them. I used to listen to them a lot (when I was young in the 90's) but realized when I grew up how poor their style and lyrics were. A lot of them were better as solo artists than as a group.

Not a big fan of the "Harcore" rap style used by Wu-Tang Clan, Notorious BIG, DMX, etc. The music is tasteless, too violent, and just stupid to say the least.

Nas is a great choice and he actually puts real meaning into his lyrics. "You're Da Man", "You Gave Me Power". "Memory Lane" are some of my favorites. That is real music with meaningful and complex lyrics from an intellectual rapper.

If you've never listened to the album "The Score" by The Fugees then I'd recommend checking it out. Preview "Cowboys", "Family Business", "Fu-Gee-La", "Ready Or Not".. Highly recommended by me.

I wouldn't pollute your head with that Wu-Tang garbage, even though there are some semi-listenable tracks on 36 chambers.

Miles' Kind of Blue is one of his best album (along with Miles Ahead, Ascenseur pour l'échafaud soundtrack etc.), but I would recommend buying at full CD quality. 3 bucks is a great deal for the album either way though.

Picked up
A Tribe Called Quest "The Low End Theory"
Bruce Springsteen "Born In The USA"
Eddie Vedder "Into The Wild" soundtrack

And even though it's not $2.99 I grabbed Stone Sour "House of Gold And Bones Part 1" for a very reasonable $5.99.

Trend has already begun. In the last year, I've spent quite a bit on full albums during these Amazon mp3 sales. Most of the rest of the industry is attempting to keep up. It generates money for the artists and I get music at a reasonable price. I get the feeling lots of people are purchasing at these price points, so this is good for all involved.

johndoehoe22 01-18-2013 05:02 PM

It turns out that the "Refer a Friend and get $10" thing on Amazon is just a $10 MP3 credit? Seriously?

Well, I guess I'll look for another album to download. I'll probably buy the Roots.

While I love the old school albums on sale, I have to say this since it hasn't been mentioned yet. The Garden State soundtrack is fan-effing-tastic. Citizen Cope is also unique and a wonderful artist. Give them a sample and pick them up at this great price!

Hello, they call me crackjerack. I shit in my own mouth so when I talk, poo comes out.

That way when people say I poop on everything that's good, it's true!

I own over 200 albums of all genres and I would put that in my top 5. Just a fantastic cd especially knowing that Layne was almost gone.

Assuming you're just browsing through the Amazon pages of albums rather than the Wiki, then yes, those are all the normally-priced $2.99 "albums," most of which are singles or EPs from unknown artists or various artists. However, if you use the Wiki there are a lot of good albums in there among the wreckage.

Just wish Amazon was easier to search through effectively.

When Michael Jackson died, we sold copies of this disc at CD Resale shop I worked for at $7.99. I am not sure how much they cost new then, but people could not get enough of the King of Pop.

You must be living under a rock if you've never heard of Kelly Clarkson, Franz Ferdinand, John Mayer, Three Days Grace, Fiona Apple, etc etc etc etc. Considering there are only 73 albums available--by your reckoning--there's only one artist/album (at most) on the list that's not an unknown. Tend to exaggerate much?

hanno 01-23-2013 05:39 AM

Does anyone not realize that the guy was wading through the pages of ALL $2.99 Amazon "albums" and not recognizing anything? You wouldn't recognize anything in there, either.

Thanks for posting, good prices! However I put down my Zeppelin, Michael Jackson, U2, Stones, and Hendrix albums to download and give a few newer artists a chance... I tried Daughtry, David Cook, John Mayer, Carrie Underwood, Train, Mat Kearny and Justin.. What the heck’s happened to popular music???

You can do both. It automatically uploads to your cloud account, but you can also download it to any device.

lakemurray 02-12-2013 07:31 AM

You download the mp3 with no restrictions or drm. It is also available from the cloud player.

True.

Michael Jackson's "Thriller", Pearl Jam's "Ten", RATM's "Battle of Los Angeles", Incubus, Audioslave, Alice in Chains, etc. And that's just from the first 3-4 pages. Lots of good stuff here.

BellaLuella 02-12-2013 07:44 AM

Probably rights.

The musical artist can OK the sale of their songs in MP3 format, but they may not have obtained permission from the album art designer to package their art in with the MP3s in a digital format. Often the designer can dictate in exactly what medium and format their art can be used.

Mirwinator 02-12-2013 07:49 AM

I was going to say, isn't this a repost?

At least the ones that look the most popular look the same.

If OP had actually highlighted new ones on sale, then I'd think there'd be a valid reason for this post....
