Dead Space 1 does not need Origin running to play the game. Origin is only needed to download and install the game.

Frontierboy 01-18-2013 04:49 AM

Tempting

SmashingPinatas 01-18-2013 12:38 PM

Damn you origin..

yuugotserved 01-18-2013 12:59 PM

thanks OP!

Origin isn't so bad. But I find it amusing that this thread triggered my "steam" deal alert :)

If I didn't own these games already on Xbox I'd buy. TU and rep

dragonre 01-18-2013 01:37 PM

Awesome games.

minimidgy 01-18-2013 01:38 PM

How scary are these games? I love games like the Resident Evil series, but man I get startled easily!

wangcho78 01-18-2013 01:41 PM

This game are not that scary..it's the typical sudden attack from above/side ways/behind. Even boss fights aren't scary..they are tough but not going to freak you out to a point you'd throw the controller. However, the game actions and graphic are damn awesome. I'd easily put this game as "Must Play".

Shoot the limbs, shoot the limbs.

metaldood 01-18-2013 02:04 PM

What about DRM?

xxxHolic 01-18-2013 02:06 PM

Is this cheapest price?

himeko123 01-18-2013 02:06 PM

I personally played Dead Space 2 first then beat Dead Space 1 last year. Story-wise on Dead Space 1 you are not missing much and level design felt repetitive compared to Dead Space 2. I would suggest watching a Dead Space 1 in One Minute video like below and play Dead Space 2.

Both of these games, so, so good. Just snagged a key for the Dead Space 3 demo on the XBox 3, looking forward to checking it out until I can buy the full version on the PC.

No it does not. Origin is not at all bad as people say. It's a minor hassle to keep 2 different platforms for the games but in the end I save money.

asianx13oy 01-18-2013 03:52 PM

should i get this for console or pc?

I find these games scary. Or at least they are true survival horror. Especially the first one. If the recent RE games (RE4+) scare you, then prepare to s*** your pants on this. DS1 is how scary RE "should be". RE4 was a joke scare-wise. Play it in the dark with a good sound system and the volume turned up.

The second one isn't nearly as scary but that is largely because you have a better idea what to expect.

Can you read?

One of the best horror shooting game I've ever played. First one was scary as hell since your stuck on a ship compared to the 2nd. Play this with headphones on at midnight with lights off for maximum fun :)

IssacClarke 01-18-2013 04:40 PM

Get it!

It is crazy how accurate this is... it is also crazy how I did the exact same thing... I'd play DS2 again and again minus the Ishimura which was scary.

I don't mean to be disrespectful or rude, but if you value your privacy, then disregard this statement.

If you have to use Origin, Sandbox it.

AFAIK. The privacy conspiracy theories are refuted. If you have proof that they still exist then let us know.

Is there a reason to use Origin or can I just download the games to work standalone?

These codes are redeemed via Origin. You could always buy the keys, then download pirated copies. It's still technically illegal, but you can feel a little better about it.

This is a good price, but I don't have enough faith in the Origin distribution platform.

nJoy7 01-18-2013 08:25 PM

Ah... Origin kinda of kills it for me. :(

canardroti 01-18-2013 09:02 PM

Great game..

I beat Deadspace 2 and replayed it several times, very fun and scary.

I 'm stuck on Deadspace 1 where you have to shoot those asteroids..freaking impossible.

luvboox 01-18-2013 09:48 PM

I'm glad there is competition in game supply channels, but yeah, no Steam = no buy.

I just got the game (Dead Space 1) with this deal. It plays very well on my laptop and I'm using a controller.

Just a note, input lag is pretty terrible due to VSYNC being turned on my default. So turn it off when you first start the game up. You can have VYSNC on turned on through your control panel/gfx card settings, but not in game.

Cauhauna 01-19-2013 05:54 AM

Does it play better with the mouse?

I played a short while yesterday, mouse+keyboard. Although I am looking forward to play more, it seems as a horrible console port. The mouse cursor/crosshair jerks way too much and it is very hard to aim if you are used to PC FPSs. The whole control style (and inventory management) screams CONSOLE GAME. Might just be that I missed something or that I will get used to it in a while. A big drawback for me, but since I haven't played these yet and I like the idea/setting/atmosphere, I don't regret buying it.

VirginiaBob 01-19-2013 03:13 PM

Been playing with my new xbox controller. Man - either this game is hard to play with the xbox controller or I am terrible with it. Maybe it has a learning curve.

Depends on whether you have a surround system and play in a darkened room. My roommate threw the controller at the rear speaker when a monster attacked and surprised him.

I almost never play Third Person Shooters with a mouse and keyboard for this reason. I feel like the majority of TPS's are intended to be played with a controller and Dead Space is no different. I didn't even try with a mouse and keyboard because I figured it would be like lotusmonk said (and I just have more fun playing with a controller even if it is less accurate). The game runs well with a controller and I suggest playing with one if you are able to. I'm using a PS3 controller, but I think it's intended for use with an XBOX 360 controller.

Like my last post though, regardless of what you are using (any controller or mouse and keyboard) make sure you turn off VSYNC in the game's options. By default it is on and makes the input lag terrible, making the game tedious and difficult in a way it was not meant to be. It's controlling your game with a delay which just ruins the experience all around.

Guys and Gals,

Wish I had bought the STEAM versions of DeadSpace 1 & 2, but pricing was right so I jumped on the $7.99 GameFly bundle.

Once the Gamefly DeadSpace 1 & 2 bundle is purchased you are able to view the key codes.

Gamefly wants you to install the GameFly client, which I assume downloads the install files/ game installer. From what I've read the client being another Steam/Origin want-to-be. As I don't "rent" games/purchase alot thru GameSpy - I see no need to install yet another "client", I would prefer to add the games via Origin, or possibly on "GameFly" AND Origin.

Concerns: DeadSpace 1 page on Gamefly mentions Sony SecureRom, as a rule I don't like ANY types of apps which may conflict with /restrict access so I don't want SecureRom on my system.
(If I own the "disc" I don't want to have the disc in the drive, and want to be able to run the game entirely off the hard-drive.)

Q1: Will downloading /installing thru the GameFly or Origin clients add DRM / SecureRom that will mess with apps in which you "mount" older cd games? (Sorry for not mentioning the name of the CD mounting app, game PC is down right now - Just know alot of "games" will screw-up such apps.)

Q2: I think I've read DeadSpace 1 & and I know DeadSpace 2 if purchased via STEAM, can be registered thru Origin, while retaining the game in your STEAM games list as well.

If downloaded/installed thru the GameFly client, can you register the game(s) with Origin as well?

(Purpose? Company A may update in a more timely manner, One may be "up", accessible- the other having technical difficulties.... Think of the expression, "Don't invest all your money in one company. Never put all your eggs in one basket" )

Q3: I would assume with the key code, games can be downloaded directly from Origin?

Q4: What type of DRM does Origin use? (Have STEAM, Have read alot of bad stuff about Origin.)

.

WeAreNotAlone 01-25-2013 06:27 PM

For those that are still looking, $7.99 deal is still on (And you can buy each separately)

http://www.gamersgate.com/DDB-DSC...ack-bundle

ANYONE HERE THAT CAN ANSWER SOME OF THE QUESTIONS IN THE ABOVE POST?

.

asianx13oy 01-31-2013 09:56 AM

I saw that they wanted me to install the gamefly client. I said NOPE and just downloaded origin and both codes worked directly with origin and both games are in my origin game list now. I have started playing dead space 1 and I must agree with MacWombat....third person shooters are meant for controller/console playing. this definitely doesn't have the feel that I thought it would with a mouse (i am used to first person shooters) although I am finally getting used to it now.
