Any way to find out when it goes live? I thought they go off of Florida east coast time?

Maybe chat live with the online CS rep and link them the ad?

Tried this. Rep indicates $34.99 is B&M only.

I think you got a crappy rep. There's no reason for the online store to negate the deal to B&M only, as the ad does not say that. Plus, I find it odd that the online site is limiting purchases to 1 per person, at the $48 rate which is much higher than their usual online deal.

Getting tired of this online only or B&M only crap. Both portions of the business are on the same balance sheet, they're not seperate businesses and I'm getting tired of companies pretending they are.

Keeping an eye on this. Please feel free to update the post once it goes live. TD did this deal before several times and it's a wait-and-see approach

By wait and see do you mean TD might update their online pricing?

So I think we are all out of luck. If you look at the first page of the ad, in the lower right hand corner, it states "prices valid in stores only." I will never understand why companies have cheaper prices in stores.

To get you into the store in hopes you'll buy junk you didn't plan on buying.

bm11720 01-20-2013 08:19 AM

There is a store in Houston. Can't check it out until tomorrow though.

That is why we must have the self-discipline to buy ONLY what is on sale. That is how you stick it to 'em. Of note, the phone rep told me $34.99 is below cost for TD.

trini_ship 01-20-2013 08:36 AM

theres one store 10 mi from where i live
might go there later today

maxcap 01-20-2013 09:56 AM

If anyone want's to do me a solid and pick up an extra card, I will gladly paypal you the cost. I will also send me some major karma your way. Unfortunately, I have nothing else to offer. PM me if you can.

TY

schizoid 01-20-2013 11:16 AM

Bummer about B&M only. My XBL expired and I've been waiting for this deal. Got really exited when I saw the alert!

If anyone wants to pick me up a card, I'd be suer appreciative and would reimburse you. Those around here know me (check my reps) know I'm a solid guy.

eBay Tigerdirect Link

When this goes live there going to be over 780+ PO'ed people at TD! :)

I need to maintain 3 Live acounts - can get 4 for $99 using the Family pack - anyone ever see the family packs cheaper or figure out a way to maintain multiple accounts (more than 2) cheaper than using Family pack? Thanks!

I believe a lot more people have. Maybe it's the economy but stores, at least in my area, are offering a lot less of these types of deals. I'll hold out for an online deal, my live has a few more months heh.

Lonegunman718 01-20-2013 12:45 PM

damn so this is a no go online

CRUC1AL 01-20-2013 12:58 PM

Has anyone tried Amazon and their price matching?

figit090 01-20-2013 01:31 PM

door-buster loss-leader type deals are probably more rare because they've figured out we don't care as much, and just shop online.

People are still impulsive as hell but now we're lazy, and it takes a TON of work to get us to go to a store for some deal. Plus, gas prices are higher, so many intelligent people that also live more than a few miles away and don't drive an electric vehicle realize that gas costs $4 a gallon and that, with tax and time value, kills most "get in here and buy this stupid!!" deals.

trini_ship 01-20-2013 01:41 PM

just picked up one. there were just 2 left. thanks OP for the thread

directly from amazon website:

We offer you consistently low prices on every item in our store. With the exception of Televisions, we do not price match with other retailers.

eb7380 01-20-2013 02:00 PM

How about Frys Electronics.

Don't they advertise even Internet Price Match ?

Hehe, right. And a first tier CS rep knows this stuff, what a lark. I wouldn't be surprised if they pay no more than $15 for a bulk order of those Xbox Live membership cards. There's more money in it for MS for you to be online than to deter you away with high prices yearly memberships.

You can use these cards towards payment on your family plan. 2 cards will get you 14 months of the family plan. I know this works for the first year of the family plan, not sure if it works for renewing in following years.

They should suck me in to checking out their online store... I'll never go to a brick and mortar of theirs... they aren't in my area. But I'd probably go nuts once I went online and started clicking if they are competitive!

dougneb 01-21-2013 07:36 AM

Stores are too far away but I submitted to Amazon using the 'tell us about a lower price' link. Hopefully they'll drop the price if enough people do it.

prjewdevil 01-21-2013 07:52 AM

The eBay link is live. In for 1.

Dasmittyman 01-23-2013 04:07 AM

I sent payment on the 21st and got a shipping conf this morning.

tedallennv 02-02-2013 06:29 PM

Purchased and did not receive. Three phone calls to customer service and a trip to the post office. Held on the phone for one hour today and then was hung up on. Finally got a refund. Just purchased it from Best Buy with in store pick up. I will not be shopping with Tiger Direct again.
