Price is $850...you will get 250000 points (need SYW free account)

Another 5% off if you use Sears card

850 - 42 (Sears 5% if you use Sears card) - 250 (SYW points) = 558 + tax

THIS IS NOT A TRU-MOTION 120Hz Set:
This review is about the 6700 but it applies to this TV:
http://hdguru.com/lg-55lm6700-hdt...ated/8281/
http://hdguru.com/beware-of-phony...ates/7726/

Not Knocking the deal / TV... but don't get caught up in Fuzzy Math.
This is $850 + Tax - 5% off if you use your Sears CC, that's all on your card due next billing cycle etc. Then it's $250 in an additional purchase(s) you must make at Sears to redeem the $250 portion; generally Sears charges well over/above market prices unless you buy a Gift card etc and sell that off, it's not the same as cash by any means

DISCOVER CARD ALSO WILL GIVE 5% cashback.
- If your TV looks too Dim, try disabling the Eco Settings in the menu.

jamestkirk 01-20-2013 09:21 AM

Too many steps. I would rather wait for the Sears going out of business sale.

sunxh163 01-20-2013 09:37 AM

It doesn't say that I will get 250000 points during the checkout, only shows "You'll earn 8500 points on this order with Shop Your Way RewardsSM Credit"?

It showed me same. I did in store pickup, i got the points as soon as i recived in-store pickup ready email.

sunxh163 01-20-2013 09:59 AM

Thanks for the info, I just confirmed with online chat as well, I will get the 250,000 points in SYWR. But the representative doesn't know how soon will these points expire (she said "it'll not expire soon. We don't have any information on exact date of when it will expire. However, you will get notified by an email when it is going to expire."). Do anyone know about that?

jeffliz 01-20-2013 10:02 AM

They usualy expire a year from the date of purchase

Maybe I'm missing something but it looks like I'm spending $760. + tax so the price is over $810. It's not a $250. Rebate it's a $250. Credit with an expiration date.

geocacher99 01-20-2013 10:22 AM

How much for 4x 3D glasses?
The Panasonic 55" 3d for 799 is probably a better deal with a lot less hassle

JJLL 01-20-2013 10:23 AM

assuming 8.25% tax, you are really spending $850 + tax - $250 sears credit ... so it's $670

bubba9004 01-20-2013 11:44 AM

I purchased this tv on the 23rd of december when the deal was 100,000 points. I'm going to try to see if they will credit me the difference in points or I'll just purchase a new one and return the other as I'm still in the 30 day window.

I think it's a pretty good deal. The way I breakdown the math is as follows:

$850 + ~ $50 (tax) = $900

-258,500 SYWP (Can also purchase a giftcard then sell online for ~ $215) = - $215

Potential Savings = $265
Total Cost = $635

Well that was pretty easy. I called SYWR, talked to a supervisor and explained the situation. He said he had no way of crediting the difference and suggested the return/rebuy or call the store and speak with the manager. I called, spoke with the store manager and he just issued me a $160 refund to my credit card over the phone. I got a emailed receipt of the refund as well.

Congratulations!! In LG website, it says 4 set of glasses included. could you please confirm if it was included when you bought from sears?

EASY TO LOVE. EASY TO SHARE.
Our flicker-free 3D glasses are just like the ones you get at the movie theater, so there are no batteries required and they don't need recharging. Because LG Cinema 3D glasses are so inexpensive, you can outfit your family and friends for a fraction of the cost of other 3D technologies. You can even use other compatible 3D glasses. 4 sets of glasses included.

Wyndhamscams 01-20-2013 01:17 PM

Rather buy it from a homeless man on the street. If something went wrong would be easier to deal with returns. Then Sears

Picked it up, mine was 850 +tax -$15 sywr thing they sent - $250 to spend sywr.

Fadekyn 01-20-2013 03:07 PM

I'm a little confused by the $250 SYWR point deduction from the price. Is the OP indicating you should by a $250 GC so that the points are treated like a deduction against the purchase price?

If so, shouldn't it be more like $245 against purchase since GC routinely run a $5 fee?

Yes, this was the only one listed as having the 250,000 SYWR points.

I just picked mine up from the store. I had $21 in SYWR points in my account to start.

$850
- 21 SYWR (points I had already)
- 25 SYWR ($25 bonus coupon for purchases over $150 at Sears, good 1/18-1/21)
+ 48 sales tax
- 120 Kmart gift cards I had already
= 732 out of pocket, put on Discover
= 695.40 (when all is said and done plus I get my gift cards essentially "replenished" with SYWR points, which have already posted to my account.

Then the 258,000 SYWR points to use at Kmart/Sears. 8000 + 250000 bonus

All in all, a pretty good deal. Make sure that if you belong to SYWR to check your e-mail for the $25 bonus coupon. It all adds up in the end.

No, you pay the full price for the tv. Then they credit you sywr account with $250. So your not saving anything out of pocket. The catch is that SYWR dollars expire usually in a year.

Now I've had this problem and I've seen it posted on here before. Say you buy a $350 dollar camera and use $250 in rewards and $100 in cash to purchase it. Later you decide to return the camera, you'll get your $100 Back but in some cases you will not see those SYWR points back.

The other scam they run is if you use SYWR points online and they cancel your order say goodbye to your points.

This doesn't happen all the time but often enough that it is noticed. In some cases I've seen the problem resolved as well.

This is a good deal found by the OP, if this was amazon I would have bought first thing.

67cougar 01-20-2013 04:09 PM

If you happen to be a Lifetime Fitness member, you can use lifetime fitness rewards to buy Land's End giftcards for 15% off. Land's End cards work on Sears. The eGift cards are sent instantly to your email. Nice 15% off the top of the price, and doesnt reduce the cashback or the bonus points.

Nice additional savings.

Heres how it would work out:

850 base price
-127.50 (By paying the tv price in giftcards with 15% savings)
-42 (5% from Sears Card)
-48 (6% cashback)
-250 (Sears Points)

382.50 + tax (you can use more giftcards to pay for the total including tax, so 15% savings on the tax as well)

why do people on SD expect all the amenities at a low price?
1. Look at the price
2. Its an LG...while they represent a good value...they are never the pinnacle of picture quality...which should be the highest priority

The TV is a good deal.....but have the right expectations about what you are buying

those statements about the SYWR are not true

if you return something you get the points back in your rewards account

Oh they are true, I've experienced it first hand. I've dealt with their customer service. I've even seen them posted many times here on SD. jaydee427 01-20-2013 05:05 PM

.

I just ordered one for delivery this Tuesday and it came out as follows:

$850 + $42.50 sales tax Richmond, VA = $892.50

-250,000 SYWP bonus points for this purchase = $250.00
-8,500 SYWP standard points for this purchase = $8.50
-9,600 SYWP that I already had in my account = $9.60
Total savings of $318.10
Total unofficial price paid = $892.50 - $318.10 = $574.40

I have a brand new LG 55LW5600 that I will sell because of this deal I just got. Is there anything else that I am missing? Thanks OP.

Great in theory, but how can you get the 5% from Sears Card if you are paying with gift cards? Do you get 5% cashback by using the Sears card to buy the gift cards? I wouldn't think so.

Then don't buy or look for anything of this size from a brick and mortar department store (Sears, HH Gregg, JCPenny, BestBuy, Walmart, etc) as you'll be stuck with taxes whether you like it or not. Drawback, get it online from an online store that doesn't have a point of presence in your state, avoid taxes, but you had better pray that they have a repair/return policy that is air tight because returns are going to be a bitch.

timtim2008 01-20-2013 06:34 PM

Troupster 01-20-2013 08:40 PM

So I bought the 47LM4600 on the 24th with the following breakdown:
710.36
-106.55 cashback
=603.81
-107.75 pricematch
=496.06
-106.83 in points
=$389.23 in final cost

I'm wondering if I should sell/return this 47" for the 55"which costs

849.99
-106.83 in points used
=821.16 Cost
=771.89
-258.50 in points back
=513.39

How much do you think I could sell this nearly brand new 47" for? If I return it after I spend the 100k points, what would happen?

Edit: I bit, I pricematched to tigerdirect for an additional $50 in savings, the breakdown is as follows:

$849.99 : base price
$10.00 : environ / recycle fee
$0.00 : delivery
-$106.83 : point from 47lm4600 on dec 24
$59.45 : tax
$812.61 : charge to CC
-$53.70 : pricematch to tigerdirect over the phone (said they have b&m compusa store, YMMV on this greatly)
$718.28 : Cost
257,356 points earned
$460.92 : FINAL COST(or $567.75 without my points)

I love the 47", but I may just return it or maybe resell it. What a spectacular deal.

Ugh, just cancelled my order, and replaced it over the internet through shop discover while on the phone with them to re-pricematch and use the giftcards.

Tv came out to $522.06 after 250,000 points on purchase. I'm going to return the 47" or try to sell in the next 3 days on craigslist.

seetachi 01-20-2013 10:19 PM

Duh, price match did not fly. No physical store of tigerdirect in MD. hope walmart put it back on sale for 798 next 2 weeks.

I got 286000 points right away. i used my sears card to get 55 more points.

that's not exactly true... it's simple and straightforward to use the netflix app for example, and playing mkv/mp4 files are nice without having to hook up another device or boot up the htpc. you can also send youtube videos from a phone to the tv, instead of having a bunch of people staring at a small phone screen. overall i'd pay for the smarttv features all over again.

No, you cannot. I have tried last year.

FYI, regarding tax. A nice surprise is that you aren't taxed on the amount of the SYWR used when you use them. So yes you are taxed on the full amount of this TV, but then if you buy something for $250 with this SYWR's, then you aren't taxed on that amount.

Flyingboat 01-21-2013 12:12 AM

Interesting that you can price match. The T&C say price match is not available for this deal.

Good for you. Considering I have a sound bar it's not really an issue for me.

Look, I am not trying to get into a HTPC vs. smart tv battle here. For people that want to invest in one, that's great for them. I personally don't have the time or patience to deal with it. I just think that for some people there is value in having a smart tv. I use mine all the time and enjoy the ease and convenience.

I read the T&C and the pricematching does not apply to the Free Delievery only (from what I read it)

The Points will not expire until 3/31/2014....

http://www.shopyourway.com/sywr-terms-of-service

ALL POINTS EXPIRE WITHOUT CREDIT, PAYMENT, OR OTHER VALUE TO YOU AT THE END OF THE CALENDAR QUARTER THAT INCLUDES THE 12 MONTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE DATE THOSE POINTS WERE EARNED. Calendar-quarter end dates are March 31, June 30, September 30, and December 31. For example, Points earned on November 1, 2011 expire on December 31, 2012.

Can you return the 1st? I wouldn't care if they took the points ont of my account(that I got on the 2nd) . I 'd just like to lower my out of pocket and avoid having points that I have to use on something.

Gujarati 01-21-2013 12:42 PM

It seems the points get updated within 15-20 minutes if the order is for instore pickup or delivery. I ordered more than couple of hours back and still see only 8459 points and not the bonus 250000 points. Is it taking long time for anyone else?

solidsnatcher 01-21-2013 01:35 PM

I converted all my discover cashback to lands end electronic gift certificates. $360 discover cashback = $450 gift certificates. They where issued immediately. Also had $200 in lands end physical gift cards from chase freedom card that I got for $160 in rewards points. Only mistake was not using the 6% cashback site. I used chase rewards 5 extra pts/dollar link instead and not sure if they award points based on order total or total charged to the freedom card.

rayschlee 01-21-2013 04:51 PM

So I've read thru the thread. Just how good of a deal is this? And is the tv good? My tv is fading fast.

I also saw where the 47 inch has a 100,000 point bonus and is $200 cheaper.

Both good? One good, one not? Any advice would be appreciated. Both sizes are good enough for me. I currently have a Samsung 46 inch hd led.

Interested in this theory ... can someone comment ? Could you just buy one after the other and just return the original for a full refund ?

lex_steele 01-21-2013 05:21 PM

This deal is so confusing. Bottom Line- Is the TV truly $250 off or do you get the points after you purchase? I would never spend $250 in Sears, the deal blows unless you get the discount before you buy this TV.

grzesiu 01-21-2013 06:03 PM

I saw the 250000 Reward points on the 1st page where you can add the TV to the cart. But during the checkout process, I am only seeing this...

You'll earn 8500 points on this order with Shop Your Way RewardsSM Credit.

When do you receive the 250000 reward points?

I rarely shop at KMart or Sears.

so what if u buy 2 tvs...use credit from one tv towards the second...then return the first...will they take money for the points if u return the first tv?

anybody wants to give it a shot?
or just not pick up the first tv and let it sit there until they refund ur money

great minds think alike :)

i was thinking of same thing..or better.dont pick up irst tv...let it sit there until they refund ur money...
anyone with guts to try this out...worst case senario, u will be refunded ur money - the point value=is the same since u paid less for the second tv..the difference thoug is u will not have points...and u would have paid less for the tv...i think i will try this..

SEGMA98 01-21-2013 06:38 PM

...or actually better...use credit towards the recent Samsung UN60ES7100FXZA

that will make it 1800-250 + tax= 1676 0r so...

mmmm.thinking..thinking

I read this under the terms and conditions. I would think that they could deduct the rewards used when they refund the return:

5. Returns: Any Points you earn on a Program Eligible Purchase are deducted from your Points account if you return the merchandise, or cancel the service, comprising that Program Eligible Purchase, even if: (i) you have redeemed those Points prior to the return, and (ii) the deduction from your Points account results in a negative Points balance.

6. Negative Points Balance. If you have a negative Points balance, you will still earn Points on Program-Eligible Purchases, which will be applied to Your Points account until a positive Points balance is restored and thereafter. However, while your Points balance is negative, you will not be able to redeem Points until the positive Points balance is restored. If you return a Program Eligible Purchase while your Points balance is negative, Company reserves the right to deduct an amount equal to the Redemption Value of that negative Points balance from the purchase price to be paid to you with respect to that return. For example, if your Points balance is negative 1,000 Points and you return a $10.00 Program Eligible Purchase, then you will receive $9.00 in cash or store credit, and 1,000 Points (a Redemption Value of $1.00) will be applied to your Points account.

So say you buy the first tv get the points. Use the points on the 2nd tv and get additional points. Return the first tv and they deduct the points then your point balance evens out at 0.

I already picked up two, will try to return the first one later this week. We'll see...

My feeling is that they would deduct $250 from the return mainly because that is a lot of points for them to let slide. But who knows until someone tries it?

does anybody know where we can find the optimum TV settings for this LG LED tv?

Thanks in advance!

Note: The TV seems to be a bit dull (in terms of brightness). However it is bright in the 3D mode.

Is the glass very reflective for normal room lighting?

wow returning the item is not going to work. People on slick deals always find a way to mess up a good deal. And I feel the more older slick-deals get the more shady members become.

Great Deal

We just moved into a new house and needed a 55-60" TV and an additional 40-50" TV for bonus room. Bought the 55" TV and then used the 258500 points to buy the 47" tv for less that $400 and will then use the 100000+ points from the 47" to get a line trimmer for the yard. Great Deal!-Thanks OP
PS-Points show up within minutes and can be used immediately.

distraught1 01-22-2013 08:32 AM

I bought one early early this morning and my order has been stuck in "Status Unavailable" with points not credited for the last 8 hours. Hoping to bug them over my lunch break enough to get things moving...

farfromuman 01-22-2013 09:35 AM

I got one, updated the firmware and here are some notes, the panel is not 120Hz - it is 60Hz and uses some kind of LED flashing. The screen is very reflective especially compared to my old Samsung which has a matte finish. The side edges of screen have blotches of light especially when back-light is above 50 and the scene is dark. Here is an explanation about the "120Hz" http://hdguru.com/lg-55lm6700-hdt...ated/8281/
More on AVS forums http://www.avsforum.com/t/1408659...-and-newer

The DLNA feature does not work with PlayON - you can browse but it will not play the streams. PlayON points to LG's bad implementation.

Although the price is great I will most likely be returning this TV.

skpanda 01-22-2013 10:16 AM

The TV size and price seems to be good:

Few concerns that i have:

1. The TV in 2D mode is dark and not as bright as other LEDs i have seen in the store. This is true even in a dark room.

2. In 3D mode (and also 2D to 3D conversion), the video is bright.

Does anybody know how to brighten up the screen in 2D mode? I tried the brightness and other options but could not seem to figure it out.

Few concerns that i have:

1. The TV in 2D mode is dark and not as bright as other LEDs i have seen in the store. This is true even in a dark room.

2. In 3D mode (and also 2D to 3D conversion), the video is bright.

try increasing backlight.

Everyone who thinks the TV is too dim, try disabling the Eco settings. I felt the same way and then realized this Eco stuff was set to Auto, changed it to Minimum and it is now nice, bright, and vivid.

Although the price is great I will most likely be returning this TV.

As long as DLNA works with SiliconDust new firmware, most people won't need a cable box, nor an HTPC.

Is everyone who is getting one after another cancelling their orignal order before picking it up, or just pick up and return?

I get this at checkout...

You'll earn 8500 points on this order with Shop Your Way RewardsSM Credit.

I don't know about everyone else, but I ordered the TV last night. I still haven't received my 250,000 bonus points. I called customer service and they stated that it can take 24-48 hours for a large amount of points to be credited. I'm assuming it has something to do with the fact that it hasn't shipped yet.

I order one for in store pick up and another one for home delivery. I got the 250k for both orders already.

I was for sure. I received 8,500 + a bonus 8,500. Still trying to figure this out.

thechan 01-22-2013 07:31 PM

so you have to spend an extra $250 to get the 250,000 points? thats what it says in the wiki

cagmoose 01-22-2013 07:34 PM

TD for the fuzzy math. You can't subtract rewards points for purchasing the TV from the purchase price of the TV. I understand people who say "it's all money," but you're misleading people on the actual cost.

No. Buy the TV, get 250,000 bonus points in your SYR account which can be used at Sears.

Gujarati 01-22-2013 07:43 PM

I did not receive the 250K points instantly. Sears Chat representative and online sales representative did not have much clue. I was being given SYWR phone no (do not remember the one , but on their website it is provided as 1-800-991-8708). The SYWR CSR told me that it has to do with the SYWR Bonus membership. I am a regular SYWR member and not a bonus member. The bonus members have a valid email account and should have subscribed to their promotions. He told me that my email account might have spammed SYWR emails and hence I had become SYWR regular member. He said, he will talk to 'the supervisor of his supervisor' to resolve the issue and award 250K points to my account. He said it may take up to one month.

Email spam, Bonus Vs Regular membership, Supervisor of Supervisor, & One Month Complain Resolution: Interesting twists & issues so far , let's see how it goes.

Please, update what do they tell you.

Identical issue. I did this in December, forgot to put in my rewards number, and still got those points faster.

Did u get the email confirmation after placing the order? If not then there might be some cc authorization issue which is what happened to me... in the end, I got a cancellation email..

Check if ur cc is charged.. if yes, then u should be just fine. I placed 2 orders and for both, I got the points in 30 mins

I'm going to wait until the points load. Place another order with the points. Then return the " first" after.

I have the confirmation and my card has been charged. I guess I should be patient. It's just tough seeing that others have already received theirs shortly after ordering.

gpt denied on pricematch with the most ridiculous reason. I pricematched to tigerdirect store that is located 8 miles from me. the sears rep claimed that since that store was not located in my town they will not honor the price match. I said that their price match policy mentions the term "local store in your area". I asked them the definition of "area" and got no response. If they dont want to pricematch then they shouldnt have a policy. otherwise they should define the word area to mean only your address..
wasted my time....

Swsander, did you select a delivery day at checkout? I realized, after placing my order, that the calendar never showed up for my order. When I first tried to submit my order I got an error about invalid date. I had just entered my CC expiration date and thought it was complaining about that instead... Submitted it again and it went through.

Just trying to narrow down why this has happened to us and not others.

Since my earlier post, Sears customer service had provided me with more random answers as to what is going on. None of them lining up. The latest, is that my delivery date iis set to 1/31/2013 and the other explanation was that they are having technical issues and that a team is woking on the issue. Should be resolved in 3-5 days. *rolls eyes* None of them have any clue and are all talking out of their asses it seems.

Weird. What 'status' is your order in swsander? Mine is still in limbo with "Status Unavailable."

I received 3 emails from Sears this morning, yet again saying conflicting things. Now it is "being researched" and will take 5-7 days. Until that is done, they have told me I can't even cancel the order to try to run it through again. I got a separate response telling me I should just cancel my order and run in through again. Finally, I got an email stating that they had tried to rerun my order and the giftcards had already been used (on my own order... obviously) on an order that had been canceled (I guess they took the liberty without confirming of trying to cancel and rerun my order?). Says it will take 6 days to reload the giftcard value to the cards and then they will try to reprocess.

I'm asking now if I will even get the bonus 250,000 points as that promotion expires on 1/26/2013. If I end up not getting the points, this TV isn't worth the price. This has already ended up being an annoying purchase and its barely been over 24 hours.

I used my credit card and a few dollars from my rewards balance to place my order yesterday. I have called 4 times to cancel since yesterday and i still don't have a cancellation email (compare that with Amazon). My reason for cancellation request was because i noticed that i only received 8,350 points instead of 250,000 points that was advertised. I have a had the worst experience with Sears.com and i will avoid them in future (tired or their overseas customer service center).

The * said that you had to be logged on to "Shop Your Way" profile before placing the order so that might have been the reason why you are not seeing the 250,000 points. I only got in on this deal so i could use the 250,000 points to use against a return/re buy item.

Mine currently states that it's on schedule. It shows that I received 8075 points and 8075 bonus points. I believe that bonus figure should have been 250,000, but something went wrong. If this doesn't work out, I will just return this TV.

I don't think this is true since I received 8,075 regular points and 8,075 bonus points. There is some other kind of bug in the system.

blueiedgod 01-23-2013 07:27 AM

Went to pick it up last night. Both TV's showed up on the screen at the pick up machine, even though, I only scanned the e-mail from the 2nd one. I de-selected the other one. The guy who wheeled out the TV asked me if I wanted the other, and I told him to cancel it. He said he couldn't. I would have to pick it up and take it upstairs to return. I told him, I will cancel it online then.

So far, if the logic is correct, the first TV earned $250 in rewards, I used the rewards to buy second TV which generated another $250 in rewards. By following Sears return policy, by returning/not picking up 1st TV, they will refund the credit card payment, and take back the $250 in rewards from my account.

Net cost of the TV $510!

distraught1 01-23-2013 07:35 AM

I haven't even received the 8000+ points yet, but I know I was logged in, as I used some of my past points for my purchase. I'd be happy if my order even started processing.

swsander, If you do end up having to deal with Sears' Customer Service, to get the bonus points corrected, I wish you a lot of luck. They seem to have no clue what they are doing. The 2x points (8075+8075) might be from Shop Your Way Max if you have that/have a trial. The 250,000 bonus points shouldn't take so long, though, with your order actually proceeding normally.

Good luck with yours as well. I'm surprised it has even started processing.

I was surprised as well in regards to how long this process is taking. The person I spoke to before said they put a note on the account to check again if nothing appeared in 48 hours. I'll make sure to post here whenever I receive any updates. In regards to the Shop Your Way Max, I never signed up for it as far as I know, but that's the only thing that makes sense in regards to receiving the double points.

Ordered last night and got 267000 points. 250000 points + 8500 points + 8500 bonus points. Total was $919.12=849.99+10.00 haul away old tv + 59.13 tax. Actually paid after all discounts $421.12=720 (9@80 gift cards)+19.12(cc)-267-51.
Scheduled for Friday delivery.

The DLNA feature does not work with PlayON - you can browse but it will not play the streams. PlayON points to LG's bad implementation.

Although the price is great I will most likely be returning this TV.

Thanks. That's what I wanted to know...the light bleed on the sides. That's a big issue with edge lit LCD's. I love a good deal but I'd rather pay a little more and be totally content. Just my opinion.

In early November, I ordered a TV for in store pickup that I was on the fence about. I figured I would wait and see what other deals came out, so I just let it sit there. After a month, it had not been canceled, and I realized I didn't want it. There was no way to cancel over the internet, but finding a number to call on Google was easy. The CSR said he would take care of it, and I also talked to Discover who told me they would put it in a "dispute pending" stage for now, but to wait two weeks before escalating. Two weeks passed and there was no movement. I called Sears again, and the CSR said she saw the notes the first guy made on the order about canceling it, but saw no evidence that he actually did anything beyond make the notes. She canceled it for real, and within 24 hours I had my credit.

tl;dr
Unless they changed their system VERY recently (within the last month), you will need to cancel via phone, and you may need to call multiple times. Unlike, say BB or WM, they also will not automatically cancel your order if you fail to pick up.

Here is the link for download, to check what you have now press Menu and then the Red button. To update: place the firmware on a flash drive in the specified directory and the TV will prompt you to update once inserted.

In notes they claim 3D function was improved, I wish that they actually added a menu for "Truemotion" which this TV claims to have. As far as stating 120Hz capability, LG is flat out lying. I wonder what else is a fabrication on their spec sheet.

Contrast ratios for one, always just made up numbers to make the model look more impressive and give users who don't know something to compare against as they review specs. But that's not just LG.

So I ordered the first tv.. its sat next to my main tv on the floor, delivered, I got 266,000 points. More than 250,000 but figured some deal thing.

I just ordered another, used my 266,000 points and now its given me 298,000 points.

What is the math they are using???

also FW (other deal site we don't talk of has 6% cb up from 4% on the first order).

bought this deal last month December 27, 2012

after i bit on this deal last year, less than a month later i saw this deal with 250,000 SYWR points. so what i did was returned my 55LM4600 but come to find out that i was hit with a 15% restocking fee :(

i used the 100,000 SYWR points already from the prior purchase. but now within 20 minutes of the new purchase i now have 258,000 SYWR points :)

so keep in mind if you want to jump on this that if your box is opened, you will be hit with a 15% restocking fee.

when i bought the 55LM4600 i had it price matched to walmart's $799 price and was credited the difference. i also did the 3bat3s cash back which was $72. so it turned out very good. i love the 2d>3d conversion, it was awesome watching my 49ers play in the playoffs in 3D :)

imhotep6 01-23-2013 05:24 PM

Anyone able comment on the conversion to 3d from a 2d source?

I tried a little with Super Mario Galaxy 2 on Wii tonight. It was OK, not great. Maybe a little better than I expected. I have not yet tried with a regular video source (or an HD one for that matter).

Thanks for your help!

I just received my TV today, and it appears to already have the latest firmware. One of the Picture Mode options is "Sports" mode, which is the only one I found makes everything look like a Soap Opera. As long as you use any other settings your fine.

Are you guys happy with this TV? Im on the fence. I have $320 in sears gifts cards to use up one way or another...

Anyone receive an email with SYW coupon $5 rewards for every $35 spent? Would that stack with the bonus 250,000 points? If so, that's about $400 in rewards and I may have to return and rebuy. Anyone know how easy returns are for delivery items? I'm assuming it's free to have them pick it up.

I tried it and the system said a better promotion has already been applied. I guess you would have to order it and then call it in to get the $5 rewards per $35 portion added manually. Sears and Kmart coupon system has been a mess recently, none of them apply and always return an undefined error.

TrueMotion

Does anyone know if TrueMotion is enabled when you use VGA port? I can feed signal to it via HDMI or VGA, and if it is not used in VGA mode, I will use that.

Overall, yes, I am happy.

The 3D is surprisingly natural to my eyes, but I am also far enough away that the "scan lines" (for lack of a better term) are not visible as they can be up close.

The main issue I have at the moment is black levels seem pretty poor. This is my third HDTV: I had a 2008 Samsung plasma, the Target BF Westinghouse 50" LCD (not LET), and this LG. Amazingly, for black level, the Westinghouse has been the best, and by a wide margin.

I was hoping a calibration with the Disney WOW disc would fix the issue. It didn't. In fact, using the test patterns, it seemed to make the black levels worse. I have some more testing to do with it and will report back with numbers if I can get something I'm reasonably happy with. The good news is that the colors seem to be very accurate: those needed almost no tweaking at all.

Now if I can just get the black levels lower, without practically turning off the backlight.

seetachi 01-24-2013 11:40 AM

I got a coupon to Earn $5 in points for every $35 you spend at Sears. I am wondering how I can get it applied.

swsander 01-24-2013 03:17 PM

TV has been delivered. I've made 4 phone calls with all saying that a note has been made and this will be added to my account (250,000 bonus points). I feel like this doesn't hold true, but unfortunately their systems have been down for the past 2 hours based on my last phone call. I will be calling tomorrow to speak directly with a supervisor since the regular employees only have a limit of 100,000 points that they can add.

Update to follow.

ohruner 01-24-2013 03:34 PM

this worked like a charm for me.

-ordered first TV for 'pick up' at a local sears that had it in stock and got an email for pick up within 30 minutes
-saw the 250k+8.5k SYW points right after
-ordered 2nd TV using the newly acquired points for 'pick up' at a different sears that also had it in stock, and got an email for pickup
-saw the 250k+8.5k SYW for that 2nd order
-went into the first Sears, did a return on the 1st TV on the spot and got my full refund (no restocking fee)
-pick up tv at 2nd sears for final price of $592 + tax

yes, it was definitely a hassle, but at the end of the day, a 1.4" thin 3D 55" LG LED for under $650 is an absolute steal however you look at it. no 120hz blah blah who cares. 120/240hz looks like crap anyways.

you could probably make it easier by having the 2nd tv order shipped, but i didnt want to wait for it.

Unfortunately, in the U.S. LG lied and labeled this TV as having Tru-Motion 120Hz when it does not. Read this article written about the 6700 a higher model but it pertains to this TV as well:

i got an earn 10% back in points to kick off your SYR account in my email account today.
i've been sitting on this deal and signed up for a SYR account earlier in the week but might have to jump with an additional 10% off.

**edit never mind, looks like excludes electronics

Thanks for the link. I am aware what TruMotion 120 is, and was just wondering that if it is not used in VGA mode. With any other TV I have used, I can control the refresh rate from the PC video card, and set it to 60 Hz without the shenanigans.

I have a feeling that there will be a class action later on, and LG will probably have to give us all a $5 voucher for a new TV while lawyers will get millions.

I have been thinking the exact same thing. When they clearly advertise on the box something that isn't there, that's a class action waiting to happen.

Speaking of something on the box but not inside. I bought a Haier dehumidifier at BJ's a couple of years ago. The box clearly said there was a 24 hour timer feature. When I started to operate the unit, there was no timer, nor did the manual mentioned it.

I called their customer service support, they said someone will get back to me. No one did. I e-mailed them after 2 weeks. No one got back to me.

After a month, outside of my return window, I gathered all of the executives e-mails and sent a mass mail explaining my situation and how I have been snubbed by the CSRs, and how now I am outside of my return window and stuck with a unit that advertized a feature that was not really there.

Director of Marketing responded back asking for picture of the box, and so forth. I sent those. He got back to me stating that it was indeed a mistake on the box. Haier sent me a brand new unit that had a timer feature (much bigger and more expensive unit) for free, and I got to keep the old one, which I sold on Craigslist.

I'll probably do the same with this TV. Annoy the heck out of LG. Maybe I will get a true 120 Hz replacement TV.

i thought the PQ is great. I havent tried the 3D yet and the TV is bright and sharp from what I can tell. blacks and pq aren't as great as the really good plasmas, but you won't find a 55" plasma for $591+tax.

btw no smart tv functions, but im going to get the Sony BDP-BX59 (BDP-S590) 3D Bluray player at costco for $79.99 which will blow away any smart tv capabilities for TVs under $1500.

Anyone having trouble ordering a second set with the points. I ordered and picked up my first set, then wanted to get another set with using my points. I'm getting the error:

"Oops. Your purchase is unfortunately ineligible for a Rewards redemption. Please use another form of payment."

Is it just me or are they not allowing you to use your points on this set any more?

ummm, people who wish they had free time usually don't hang out on slickdeals, and don't read 200 page thread.

It took me 30 seconds to 1 minute to place first phone, call. About a minute or 2 to write an e-mail. Another minute to take a picture of the box and attach to e-mail.

Total of 4 minutes. Let's say my margin of error on time estimates is 100%, and it took me 8-10 minutes.

I got a $300 dehumidifier for 10 minutes of my time. That works out to $1800/hour. So, unless you make more than $3,744,000/year you can't say it is not worth your time, or you simply don't know how vlauable your time is. But, if you didn't know that, you wouldn't be in the position to pull more than three a quarter million dollars a year. And you most definitely would not be reading a thread on SD about saving $300 on a TV, which takes more than 10 minutes to read, and more than 10 minutes to pull off.

So, either you don't know the value of your time, or, you are using your time inefficiently. :D
