Well that was pretty easy. I called SYWR, talked to a supervisor and explained the situation. He said he had no way of crediting the difference and suggested the return/rebuy or call the store and speak with the manager. I called, spoke with the store manager and he just issued me a $160 refund to my credit card over the phone. I got a emailed receipt of the refund as well.

No, you pay the full price for the tv. Then they credit you sywr account with $250. So your not saving anything out of pocket. The catch is that SYWR dollars expire usually in a year.

Now I've had this problem and I've seen it posted on here before. Say you buy a $350 dollar camera and use $250 in rewards and $100 in cash to purchase it. Later you decide to return the camera, you'll get your $100 Back but in some cases you will not see those SYWR points back.

The other scam they run is if you use SYWR points online and they cancel your order say goodbye to your points.

This doesn't happen all the time but often enough that it is noticed. In some cases I've seen the problem resolved as well.

Oh they are true, I've experienced it first hand. I've dealt with their customer service. I've even seen them posted many times here on SD. Like I stated these issues are rare and are usually easily resolved but who wants the headaches? I'm glad to see you've had no issues with them, but others of us have.

Then don't buy or look for anything of this size from a brick and mortar department store (Sears, HH Gregg, JCPenny, BestBuy, Walmart, etc) as you'll be stuck with taxes whether you like it or not. Drawback, get it online from an online store that doesn't have a point of presence in your state, avoid taxes, but you had better pray that they have a repair/return policy that is air tight because returns are going to be a bitch.

that's not exactly true... it's simple and straightforward to use the netflix app for example, and playing mkv/mp4 files are nice without having to hook up another device or boot up the htpc. you can also send youtube videos from a phone to the tv, instead of having a bunch of people staring at a small phone screen. overall i'd pay for the smarttv features all over again.

I converted all my discover cashback to lands end electronic gift certificates. $360 discover cashback = $450 gift certificates. They where issued immediately. Also had $200 in lands end physical gift cards from chase freedom card that I got for $160 in rewards points. Only mistake was not using the 6% cashback site. I used chase rewards 5 extra pts/dollar link instead and not sure if they award points based on order total or total charged to the freedom card.

I read this under the terms and conditions. I would think that they could deduct the rewards used when they refund the return:

5. Returns: Any Points you earn on a Program Eligible Purchase are deducted from your Points account if you return the merchandise, or cancel the service, comprising that Program Eligible Purchase, even if: (i) you have redeemed those Points prior to the return, and (ii) the deduction from your Points account results in a negative Points balance.

im ok with 250,000 negative point balance...the question is r they going to send me a bill for 250 or just have it negative or reurn the LG tv minus 250......

So say you buy the first tv get the points. Use the points on the 2nd tv and get additional points. Return the first tv and they deduct the points then your point balance evens out at 0.

I already picked up two, will try to return the first one later this week. We'll see...

My feeling is that they would deduct $250 from the return mainly because that is a lot of points for them to let slide. But who knows until someone tries it?

I bought one early early this morning and my order has been stuck in "Status Unavailable" with points not credited for the last 8 hours. Hoping to bug them over my lunch break enough to get things moving...

I got one, updated the firmware and here are some notes, the panel is not 120Hz - it is 60Hz and uses some kind of LED flashing. The screen is very reflective especially compared to my old Samsung which has a matte finish. The DLNA feature does not work with PlayON - you can browse but it will not play the streams. PlayON points to LG's bad implementation.

Few concerns that i have:

1. The TV in 2D mode is dark and not as bright as other LEDs i have seen in the store. This is true even in a dark room.

2. In 3D mode (and also 2D to 3D conversion), the video is bright.

Does anybody know how to brighten up the screen in 2D mode? I tried the brightness and other options but could not seem to figure it out.

After calling in 5 times, I've been told everything from my payment was needing verification, to being told, by the verification line, that customer service is stupid and it wasn't needing verification, to needing a sales check number assigned, and now, finally, a claim that the TV is back ordered and I'll hear back in 3-4 day when they can figure out how long it will take to get back into stock. All the while the TV still says in stock on the website.

No idea what is really going on. Gotta love Sears' customer service...

Everyone who thinks the TV is too dim, try disabling the Eco settings. I felt the same way and then realized this Eco stuff was set to Auto, changed it to Minimum and it is now nice, bright, and vivid.

As long as DLNA works with SiliconDust new firmware, most people won't need a cable box, nor an HTPC.

I don't know about everyone else, but I ordered the TV last night. I still haven't received my 250,000 bonus points. I called customer service and they stated that it can take 24-48 hours for a large amount of points to be credited. I'm assuming it has something to do with the fact that it hasn't shipped yet.

I did not receive the 250K points instantly. Sears Chat representative and online sales representative did not have much clue. I was being given SYWR phone no (do not remember the one , but on their website it is provided as 1-800-991-8708). The SYWR CSR told me that it has to do with the SYWR Bonus membership. I am a regular SYWR member and not a bonus member. The bonus members have a valid email account and should have subscribed to their promotions. He told me that my email account might have spammed SYWR emails and hence I had become SYWR regular member. He said, he will talk to 'the supervisor of his supervisor' to resolve the issue and award 250K points to my account. He said it may take up to one month.

Did u get the email confirmation after placing the order? If not then there might be some cc authorization issue which is what happened to me... in the end, I got a cancellation email..

Check if ur cc is charged.. if yes, then u should be just fine. I placed 2 orders and for both, I got the points in 30 mins

I'm going to wait until the points load. Place another order with the points. Then return the " first" after.

gpt denied on pricematch with the most ridiculous reason. I pricematched to tigerdirect store that is located 8 miles from me. the sears rep claimed that since that store was not located in my town they will not honor the price match. I said that their price match policy mentions the term "local store in your area". I asked them the definition of "area" and got no response. If they dont want to pricematch then they shouldnt have a policy. otherwise they should define the word area to mean only your address..

Swsander, did you select a delivery day at checkout? I realized, after placing my order, that the calendar never showed up for my order. When I first tried to submit my order I got an error about invalid date. I had just entered my CC expiration date and thought it was complaining about that instead... Submitted it again and it went through.

Just trying to narrow down why this has happened to us and not others.

Since my earlier post, Sears customer service had provided me with more random answers as to what is going on. None of them lining up. The latest, is that my delivery date iis set to 1/31/2013 and the other explanation was that they are having technical issues and that a team is woking on the issue. Should be resolved in 3-5 days. *rolls eyes* None of them have any clue and are all talking out of their asses it seems.

LG is a hidden gem BTW for cheap TVs with few features. My LG 4600 seems to be a quality unit for the price. Can't compete with a Sammy but for the price it is a steal. I will buy LG again and again.
I also own the 60ES8000.

I selected 1/24 as my delivery date. If I don't have the points after I take delivery, then I will call Sears and get this straightened out.

I received 3 emails from Sears this morning, yet again saying conflicting things. Now it is "being researched" and will take 5-7 days. Until that is done, they have told me I can't even cancel the order to try to run it through again. I got a separate response telling me I should just cancel my order and run in through again. Finally, I got an email stating that they had tried to rerun my order and the giftcards had already been used (on my own order... obviously) on an order that had been canceled (I guess they took the liberty without confirming of trying to cancel and rerun my order?). Says it will take 6 days to reload the giftcard value to the cards and then they will try to reprocess.

I'm asking now if I will even get the bonus 250,000 points as that promotion expires on 1/26/2013. If I end up not getting the points, this TV isn't worth the price. This has already ended up being an annoying purchase and its barely been over 24 hours.

I used my credit card and a few dollars from my rewards balance to place my order yesterday. I have called 4 times to cancel since yesterday and i still don't have a cancellation email (compare that with Amazon). My reason for cancellation request was because i noticed that i only received 8,350 points instead of 250,000 points that was advertised. I have a had the worst experience with Sears.com and i will avoid them in future (tired or their overseas customer service center).

The * said that you had to be logged on to "Shop Your Way" profile before placing the order so that might have been the reason why you are not seeing the 250,000 points. I only got in on this deal so i could use the 250,000 points to use against a return/re buy item.

Mine currently states that it's on schedule. It shows that I received 8075 points and 8075 bonus points. I believe that bonus figure should have been 250,000, but something went wrong. If this doesn't work out, I will just return this TV.

I don't think this is true since I received 8,075 regular points and 8,075 bonus points. There is some other kind of bug in the system.

Went to pick it up last night. Both TV's showed up on the screen at the pick up machine, even though, I only scanned the e-mail from the 2nd one. I de-selected the other one. The guy who wheeled out the TV asked me if I wanted the other, and I told him to cancel it. He said he couldn't. I would have to pick it up and take it upstairs to return. I told him, I will cancel it online then.

So far, if the logic is correct, the first TV earned $250 in rewards, I used the rewards to buy second TV which generated another $250 in rewards. By following Sears return policy, by returning/not picking up 1st TV, they will refund the credit card payment, and take back the $250 in rewards from my account.

I haven't even received the 8000+ points yet, but I know I was logged in, as I used some of my past points for my purchase. I'd be happy if my order even started processing.

swsander, If you do end up having to deal with Sears' Customer Service, to get the bonus points corrected, I wish you a lot of luck. They seem to have no clue what they are doing. The 2x points (8075+8075) might be from Shop Your Way Max if you have that/have a trial. The 250,000 bonus points shouldn't take so long, though, with your order actually proceeding normally.

I was surprised as well in regards to how long this process is taking. The person I spoke to before said they put a note on the account to check again if nothing appeared in 48 hours. I'll make sure to post here whenever I receive any updates. In regards to the Shop Your Way Max, I never signed up for it as far as I know, but that's the only thing that makes sense in regards to receiving the double points.

Thanks. That's what I wanted to know...the light bleed on the sides. That's a big issue with edge lit LCD's. I love a good deal but I'd rather pay a little more and be totally content. Just my opinion.

In early November, I ordered a TV for in store pickup that I was on the fence about. I figured I would wait and see what other deals came out, so I just let it sit there. After a month, it had not been canceled, and I realized I didn't want it. There was no way to cancel over the internet, but finding a number to call on Google was easy. The CSR said he would take care of it, and I also talked to Discover who told me they would put it in a "dispute pending" stage for now, but to wait two weeks before escalating. Two weeks passed and there was no movement. I called Sears again, and the CSR said she saw the notes the first guy made on the order about canceling it, but saw no evidence that he actually did anything beyond make the notes. She canceled it for real, and within 24 hours I had my credit.

tl;dr
Unless they changed their system VERY recently (within the last month), you will need to cancel via phone, and you may need to call multiple times. Unlike, say BB or WM, they also will not automatically cancel your order if you fail to pick up.

In notes they claim 3D function was improved, I wish that they actually added a menu for "Truemotion" which this TV claims to have. As far as stating 120Hz capability, LG is flat out lying. I wonder what else is a fabrication on their spec sheet.

Contrast ratios for one, always just made up numbers to make the model look more impressive and give users who don't know something to compare against as they review specs. But that's not just LG.

So I ordered the first tv.. its sat next to my main tv on the floor, delivered, I got 266,000 points. More than 250,000 but figured some deal thing.

I just ordered another, used my 266,000 points and now its given me 298,000 points.

What is the math they are using???

after i bit on this deal last year, less than a month later i saw this deal with 250,000 SYWR points. so what i did was returned my 55LM4600 but come to find out that i was hit with a 15% restocking fee :(

i used the 100,000 SYWR points already from the prior purchase. but now within 20 minutes of the new purchase i now have 258,000 SYWR points :)

so keep in mind if you want to jump on this that if your box is opened, you will be hit with a 15% restocking fee.

when i bought the 55LM4600 i had it price matched to walmart's $799 price and was credited the difference. i also did the 3bat3s cash back which was $72. so it turned out very good. i love the 2d>3d conversion, it was awesome watching my 49ers play in the playoffs in 3D :)

Anyone able comment on the conversion to 3d from a 2d source?

I tried a little with Super Mario Galaxy 2 on Wii tonight. It was OK, not great. Maybe a little better than I expected. I have not yet tried with a regular video source (or an HD one for that matter).

I just received my TV today, and it appears to already have the latest firmware. One of the Picture Mode options is "Sports" mode, which is the only one I found makes everything look like a Soap Opera. As long as you use any other settings your fine.

Anyone receive an email with SYW coupon $5 rewards for every $35 spent? Would that stack with the bonus 250,000 points? If so, that's about $400 in rewards and I may have to return and rebuy. Anyone know how easy returns are for delivery items? I'm assuming it's free to have them pick it up.

I tried it and the system said a better promotion has already been applied. I guess you would have to order it and then call it in to get the $5 rewards per $35 portion added manually. Sears and Kmart coupon system has been a mess recently, none of them apply and always return an undefined error.

Does anyone know if TrueMotion is enabled when you use VGA port? I can feed signal to it via HDMI or VGA, and if it is not used in VGA mode, I will use that.

Overall, yes, I am happy.

The 3D is surprisingly natural to my eyes, but I am also far enough away that the "scan lines" (for lack of a better term) are not visible as they can be up close.

The main issue I have at the moment is black levels seem pretty poor. This is my third HDTV: I had a 2008 Samsung plasma, the Target BF Westinghouse 50" LCD (not LET), and this LG. Amazingly, for black level, the Westinghouse has been the best, and by a wide margin.

I was hoping a calibration with the Disney WOW disc would fix the issue. It didn't. In fact, using the test patterns, it seemed to make the black levels worse. I have some more testing to do with it and will report back with numbers if I can get something I'm reasonably happy with. The good news is that the colors seem to be very accurate: those needed almost no tweaking at all.

Now if I can just get the black levels lower, without practically turning off the backlight.

TV has been delivered. I've made 4 phone calls with all saying that a note has been made and this will be added to my account (250,000 bonus points). I feel like this doesn't hold true, but unfortunately their systems have been down for the past 2 hours based on my last phone call. I will be calling tomorrow to speak directly with a supervisor since the regular employees only have a limit of 100,000 points that they can add.

-went into the first Sears, did a return on the 1st TV on the spot and got my full refund (no restocking fee)
-pick up tv at 2nd sears for final price of $592 + tax

yes, it was definitely a hassle, but at the end of the day, a 1.4" thin 3D 55" LG LED for under $650 is an absolute steal however you look at it. no 120hz blah blah who cares. 120/240hz looks like crap anyways.

you could probably make it easier by having the 2nd tv order shipped, but i didnt want to wait for it.

Thanks for the link. I am aware what TruMotion 120 is, and was just wondering that if it is not used in VGA mode. With any other TV I have used, I can control the refresh rate from the PC video card, and set it to 60 Hz without the shenanigans.

I have a feeling that there will be a class action later on, and LG will probably have to give us all a $5 voucher for a new TV while lawyers will get millions.

I have been thinking the exact same thing. When they clearly advertise on the box something that isn't there, that's a class action waiting to happen.

How is the picture quality?

Speaking of something on the box but not inside. I bought a Haier dehumidifier at BJ's a couple of years ago. The box clearly said there was a 24 hour timer feature. When I started to operate the unit, there was no timer, nor did the manual mentioned it.

I called their customer service support, they said someone will get back to me. No one did. I e-mailed them after 2 weeks. No one got back to me.

After a month, outside of my return window, I gathered all of the executives e-mails and sent a mass mail explaining my situation and how I have been snubbed by the CSRs, and how now I am outside of my return window and stuck with a unit that advertized a feature that was not really there.

Director of Marketing responded back asking for picture of the box, and so forth. I sent those. He got back to me stating that it was indeed a mistake on the box. Haier sent me a brand new unit that had a timer feature (much bigger and more expensive unit) for free, and I got to keep the old one, which I sold on Craigslist.

I'll probably do the same with this TV. Annoy the heck out of LG. Maybe I will get a true 120 Hz replacement TV.

Wish I had all this free time...that's a lot of hassle for a hair dryer let alone this TV lol

i thought the PQ is great. I havent tried the 3D yet and the TV is bright and sharp from what I can tell. blacks and pq aren't as great as the really good plasmas, but you won't find a 55" plasma for $591+tax.

btw no smart tv functions, but im going to get the Sony BDP-BX59 (BDP-S590) 3D Bluray player at costco for $79.99 which will blow away any smart tv capabilities for TVs under $1500.

Anyone having trouble ordering a second set with the points. I ordered and picked up my first set, then wanted to get another set with using my points. I'm getting the error:

ummm, people who wish they had free time usually don't hang out on slickdeals, and don't read 200 page thread.

It took me 30 seconds to 1 minute to place first phone, call. About a minute or 2 to write an e-mail. Another minute to take a picture of the box and attach to e-mail.

Total of 4 minutes. Let's say my margin of error on time estimates is 100%, and it took me 8-10 minutes.

I got a $300 dehumidifier for 10 minutes of my time. That works out to $1800/hour. So, unless you make more than $3,744,000/year you can't say it is not worth your time, or you simply don't know how vlauable your time is. But, if you didn't know that, you wouldn't be in the position to pull more than three a quarter million dollars a year. And you most definitely would not be reading a thread on SD about saving $300 on a TV, which takes more than 10 minutes to read, and more than 10 minutes to pull off.

So, either you don't know the value of your time, or, you are using your time inefficiently. :D

I got my 8,500 points nearly right away but haven't got the 250k bonus points yet. Not sure if I'm going to keep this now if this is going to be a hassle.
