60" Panasonic VIERA TC-P60GT50 Plasma HDTV $200 PRICE DROP - $1699 Free Shipping

1 Attachment(s)
Amazon's price for the 60" Panasonic Viera GT50 just dropped $200. I bought it at $1899 over 14 days ago and they still gave me the $200 rebate. Probably a line-wide price drop with the newer models coming to town.

Best Buy's price still showing $1899 but if you purchased from there, the holiday price match should still apply to Amazon.

Edit for fixed link. Also to say this TV is as amazing as it sounds.

Fixed.

Good deal here for sure

DirtyBird10 01-23-2013 03:03 PM

Thanks, link fixed. Knew I'd screw it up.

skrilla101 01-23-2013 03:04 PM

looks like a great deal but hoping the 65gt50 will see a similar drop over next few days.

black318is 01-23-2013 03:08 PM

Just a heads up Paul"s TV has the same price with coupon (SAVE200). With white glove delivery. Might be a Better deal for those that have to pay sales tax through Amazon..

mabsolon 01-23-2013 03:28 PM

Good deal. Hopefully this means a drop for the rest of the GT lineup soon.

cbiggers 01-23-2013 04:04 PM

VT50 has a bit deeper blacks thanks to the Ultra infinite black pro panel. Also a little bit better bright room performance. The Amazon comparison chart is a good place to start.

Amen to that! I have been waiting for a decent 65 inch plasma deal, preferably with 3d and Smart TV since Thanksgiving.

Hoping they come in at around 1500 for the 65 by the superbowl time

cbiggers 01-23-2013 04:34 PM

Anyone know what the 96hz 24p difference is? Does it really matter?

In the 24p direct mode, 96 Hz refresh rate produces a flicker free, smooth video. The GT/ST/UT series only have 48 Hz and 60 Hz. 48 Hz is a too low refresh rate and so 60 Hz is the recommended setting. At this refresh rate, there will be frame interpolation (2:3 pulldown). This is how the LCDs that have a 60 Hz refresh rate display the video.

Does it matter? It is really subjective. You may or may not notice the difference and that too only when you play a 1080p source (blu-ray) in 24p mode.

The GT50 and ST50 have a brighter picture than the VT50.

The VT50 has more calibration settings and slightly blacker blacks.

Proud owner of this TV and it's unbelievable. If you're on the fence know that you won't be sorry!

cbiggers 01-23-2013 07:02 PM

waiting on a few more price drops for this or the VT. Wanting to grab the 65in of either depending where the prices go.

Been reading up on this model over on AVS and the one thing that concerns me is the buzzing sound some people say they experience. Just wondering what your experience has been with that, or any other issues? Thanks.

jamey1010 01-23-2013 07:28 PM

I have the 55" GT50 no buzzing and I haven't seen any image retention what so ever.. TV's been awesome and only reason I pick it over the 60" was the $550 price difference at the time over 5 inches and I wasn't sure about how much glare they might be although that hasn't been bad at all from outside light but slightly more from overhead lighting than the 60" led-lcd I came from.

I'm looking for the 2013 60" ST60 this year for sure :bounce:

Why hold out?

PM the best price on a 50GT50 at BB. Then go in for PA later.

That's what I did on my 50gt50.

You get to enjoy the TV in the meantime AND still get the best price around.

rayzerli 01-23-2013 08:00 PM

actually I was at CES and they now have an even higher model than VT is called ZT I kid you not! http://www.electronichouse.com/sl...13914/1807 no price yet!

How long can you price adjust for? And just once?

herbstaa 01-24-2013 08:13 AM

Bought it, don't want to wait any longer. Plus this is a great deal on this TV

johnniefive 01-24-2013 08:23 AM

This is a great television series. I picked one up in December, 55" and the picture is amazing. It blows away the Samsung LED that I replaced it with.

cisach 01-24-2013 08:33 AM

holding out on a deal on the 65inch

...ditto, I own the 55 GT50 and there's not buzzing at all...beautiful TV!

Sarfdawg 01-24-2013 08:57 AM

I actually had a GT50 ready to buy, but I found a steal of a deal on the Samsung e8000. I have no regrets, but the GT50 had an unbelievably good picture, and overall was a sweet TV. I got the e8000 for $50 more than what the GT50 would have been, but if I had this opportunity at that time, I would have jumped on the GT50.

I saw the GT50 in the 60" model and the VT50 in the 65" model side-by-side, and the VT50 is on another planet. It was probably the best picture on a plasma I'd ever seen. There's no 60" VT50 model, but if there had been, I'd have had a real dilemma on my hands.

lol so which is it? VT50 is brighter or not? In the store it seemed to have a slightly better antiglare coating than the GT (comparing reflections from the overhead lighting). Sadly the store that had both next to each other was about to close, so both the GT and VT were off so couldn't compare direct brightness

I'm holding out for Amazon on the 50GT50 too because I don't have to pay tax and I can get 2% cashback - saves me about $100.

I can hear it if I'm right next to the TV when it's a bright picture, but never during any use. No problemswwith the TV, can't say enough good things about it.

Ferrous1 01-25-2013 02:14 AM

Hows the glare on this set? Also does its stand swivel?

I have a 4 year old 50" 720P LG plasma that has extreme glare from windows sitting opposite the screen. Only saving grace is its swivel stand otherwise it would be near unwatchable during the day.

# of price adjustments is not limited.

You have minimum 30 days from date of purchase, or 45 days if you are RZ Silver.

I do not know if the clock resets when there is a PA that could expand the timeframe.

If you are RZ Silver, and have a recent 3X RZ Points coupon, you can get 6% back in RZ points value.

Tax vs. easier to return locally, is dependent on the individual and obviously some people pay Amazon tax.

BB PA has been real easy. I don't know if Amazon is as easy with that.

Whatever works best.
