got in on the 6-pack for the same price a couple of months ago. Still a good price. These are good for the price

orphicdragon 01-23-2013 07:22 PM

Somewhat off topic but I went rooting around to see if they had a deal on the V neck and saw they have an "1876" v-neck. Can't really find anything on what the difference is between the regular tee and the 1876 tee.

Anybody know if it's just a promo thing or is there an actual difference?

How's the sizing with these shirts? I usually wear medium, but I wear Large with under shirts since they shrink alot, I am 5' 9" 160lb, chest size 39, should I go with Large or something else, thx.

I'm 5'9", 170lb and wear a medium undershirt in these. They are very nice quality and great for long-sleeve shirts. However, the sleeves are a little long and so stick out when I wear them under some of the newer "fitted" polo shirts.

ImaPuppy 01-23-2013 08:17 PM

Isn't this the standard price at TJ Maxx?

i had to resort to the V-neck to get tall size on sale a few weeks ago, 2 pack- 6.99 w/FS. better than the "hole-y" ones i was wearing waiting for a crew neck tall sale.

I love the lighter undershirts, walmart had "george" branded that was sort of stretchy. Anyone know what I"m talking about? Well they don't carry them anymore, where would I get something similar to that?

pickmyname 01-23-2013 09:31 PM

How are the necks on these? Do they curl up like some of the other brands do?

Update: Thanks OP...think I'll pass on this one after reading a few of the reviews on amazon. One here even talks about how he purchased the deal from ebay in the past:

Update 2: oh what the hell...I'll bite on a pack of black tshirts lol.

Are these more like undershirts, or are they substantial enough to wear out casually?

Try JCP.com. The St John's Bay make a super thin one. IIRC the Performance is the thicker material, but I might be wrong.

I found this review on Amazon.com [amazon.com]

What has happened to Jockey?, September 8, 2012
By W. Brown (Seattle, WA USA)
This review is from: Classic Tag-Free Crew Neck T-Shirt- 3 Pack

Something is amiss. I bought three packs (of three each in Aug 2012) at a discount on eBay, shipped direct from Jockey. These supposedly all cotton shirts are thin, filmy, extremely stretchy and shapeless. This is not the same cloth that has been used on Jockey products in the past. It doesn't feel like all cotton. I washed all the shirts before using (they smelled strongly, presumably of the plastic wrappings/shipping materials) and did not see any shrinkage as mentioned in other reviews. Not recommended.

BlkBimM3r 01-24-2013 12:03 AM

How do these compare in quality to Costco's Kirkland undershirts which I've bought in the past for $19.99/6 pack? Not joking, from a pure quality & longevity aspect for those that don't care about brands or crew neck vs classic T & just want something that doesn't "Fruit of the Loom" on you (shrink/deform with use & washing, thin & fray, discolor/get less white with washing, even with detergent & bleach or drying, etc).

The Costco Kirkland undershirts I've bought in the past were good quality/thick cotton as were the underwear/briefs..

Too bad Costco doesn't make A-shirts/wife beaters, so I've had to try other brands (hanes, jockey, fotl, etc). FOTL is the worst!!! But you can't really compare wifebeaters to undershirts.. As they're usually thinner & have the ribbed texture whereas shirts are thicker & non ribbed.

matt00926 01-24-2013 12:07 AM

V-neck is better, the point of an undershirt is for it to not show under the shirt you wear over it.

bank 01-24-2013 12:38 AM

Nice got some Large Black shirts. I'm 5'8 165lbs hope they fit well. I usually buy Hanes so will see how they compare.

cervantez015 01-24-2013 12:38 AM

The collar is awesome on these shirts. Now, with that being said, the rest of the shirt wears out quick. Luckily, I just use them as undershirts. I still wear one that looks like a bear mauled me on the side.

Just my opinion but speaking from my experience Jockey tends to make a better t-shirt. I wouldn't say it's night and day but it is noticable enough to me. When I was a 2X I bought some Jockey 2XLT shirts reluctantly for $30 a pack when I couldn't find any other 2XLTs. I liked them so much I bought a second pack. Never would of thought I'd pay $60 for t-shirts. I've lost some weight now and the Hanes are my replacement shirts for the time being since I can fit a regular XL now. They're fine, especially given the price, but I'm definitely ordering the Jockeys.

I also bought that from Costco and I would not say ther were great quality. They were OK. I would say probably as good or as bad as Hanes.

I have some Jockeys and Stafford white t shirts I bought from JCPenny at home and after looking at both I can hands down say Stafford is a much better quality in terms of being thicker and smoother. Jockey white t's are a bit too thin and shrink (happened to mine). Was about to buy a 3 pack of Jockey's until I went over and looked at the back of my closet and found some shrunken down, thin Jockey t-shirts I had stopped wearing.

You are only paying $10 for 3 or $27 for 9 though here. I think for my Stafford I ended up paying like $40 for 3, and I hate spending a lot on t-shirts but this have been worth it. After a year+ of use and washing them every few days they are still thick, but lost a bit of it's smoothness.

I looked maybe a month ago, when I was looking to see if they carried A-shirts yet... The costco/kirkland shirts & underwear only come in white.

Also to the other poster..Nowadays stuff is so poorly made none that ive tried are super high quality, but Hanes & Kirkland is better than FOTL & decent at 6/$19.99. I've also tried us polo assn, Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, etc.. from Ross, not worth the price difference to me..

At the same cost, ill give Jockey a try... I've bought their A shirts from eBay in the past & they weren't bad
