Does this mean they've fixed instant video? It hasn't worked on PS3 systems for months... Even with a 100mbps connection - it says "buffering" all the time..

bummer I regisered mine when I bought it.

I use instant video on the PS3 all the time and never had a problem. May be an issue with your PS3.

Like many of you I signed up before the 24th. I just chatted with amazon via their web application and asked for the credit and they applied it, so do that!

I just registered for the credit, but it is not showing up as a balance under the Instant Video Credit. Is this one of the promos where it actually doesn't apply a credit but rather just takes $5 off a purchase? Has anyone seen an actual credit post to their account?

I have the same problem. I have to move the console upstairs if I want to play on the gamepad alone. For some reason it works on my second floor when its physically on the 1st floor, but not basement to 1st floor. With all that said, I think this deal is for original wii anyway.

I registered like 4 days ago. First chat with CS said no. Second said yes...I was transferred to their digital team.

Wii wants me to upgrade my firmware. Pretty sure I don't want to do that.

For some reason the credit allowed me to buy an mp3 album with the credit + and the remainder (.21 c) was put towards my next order....

I sent them an email because I didn't get the credit after going through all the registration steps. A few hours later they applied a promotional credit to my account which can be used for any purchase, not just instant videos. Makes me feel better about missing out on that other $5 deal they had going on with the car video.

guess this prob won't work with the Wii U... also, it's not worth $5 in vid credit just to update your Wii firmware. I haven't updated my FW since Mario Kart launched due to ...issues.

Yes, they want to update Wii Shop channel.
You will have to reinstall Homebrew

If your last update was in late 2010 it is safe to update with latest 4.3 (Nov.6.2012). It only updates Wii Shop channel - confired on my Wii.
If you have earlier updates - will have to reinstall Homebrew.

Definitely something wrong with your PS3. Mine is an old fat/heavy PS3 80G and I play Amazon HD movies all the time - no problem no buffering.
Do you have your PS3 connected wirelessly or ethernet? Mine is ethernet.

By the way, I do remember some time ago when I still had slow DSL AND connected Wireless, the PS3 did the buffering a lot. Strangely the computer wireless played the movie just fine. Maybe the built-in wireless of the PS3 just suck?

Nevermind, found it! There's no $5 credit showing up on Amazon, however.

It should show up when you enter the Wii shopping channel

If you're at 4.1, just use a WAD manager and install v21 of the shop channel and IOS 56 and the shop channel will work without upgrading.

Where does the credit show up at?

just search for some video. click to see the video page. At the bottom of the page you will see a link to view balance. You should be able to see the new $5 credit .

As others have stated... I registered my Wii but did not see the credit posted (click on an instant video movie, look at the bottom of any instant video page and there is "view balance" near "enter promotional code").... I began a chat with an Amazon rep and they transferred me to instant video services (or something?) and within two minutes the credit was there! ...and good on kindle, mp3, android apps, software & instant video...

Thanks OP, gives me a reason to pull the wii out. I was going to use my wii as an internet streaming device to my non-smart lcd tv but realized it only played in 480- bummer!! If anyone knows a way to play movies at 720 or more, I would be ever so grateful if you point me in the right direction.;)

I think I might have got a credit when I registered my bluray player last year. I just registered the Wii and didn't get a credit. Oh well.

I didn't get credit either. Maybe it's because I registered the old wii couple years ago, it gave me no credit for the WiiU. Just won't use the service, Redbox is cheaper for me.

Zelda Skyward Sword is my favorite game on the Wii so far. I'm still playing it since it first came out. I play a little one or two nights a week on and off till now. I won't want to game to finish. I don't know what else I can play on the original Wii anymore...

I know exactly how you feel, I only bought it to play the Nintendo exclusives but there haven't been that many of them worth playing. I'll be waiting quite a while before I get a Wii U, usually I buy consoles at launch but Nintendo always seems to dissapoint when it comes to quantity.

BTW, I never got an email from Amazon telling me that I registered a device, or that I got the $5. It's there:

My promotion wasn't showing in my balance after my successful device registration. I chatted and they manually entered it. Not sure if they saw the wii registered in their system or just put the credit through so I wouldn't complain

Registered today and also didn't see my credit initially. Started a chat like others and afterwards received $5 credits in video, mp3, apps, kindle, and software. Don't know if I was only supposed to get the $5 instant video credit, but I'm not complaining!!

Once I get the credit do I necessarily have to use it on the Amazon app on the Wii or can I use it on my PS3 or Xbox360?

AFAIK, the promotion just adds $5 to your Amazon account. As long as you log in with the same account, it should work from any device.

They've had Netflix and Hulu+ for ages now. For an aging $90 box that also plays games, I'm willing to cut them a little slack with the distant third in the online streaming game.

In case anyone is wondering, the deal is dead. Somehow I missed seeing this, and since the link at Amazon is still live, I thought I'd give it a shot. Well, after an hour of troubleshooting my wii network connection (what can I say, I'm home sick today and pretty stubborn), I got it to link to my account. But no credit for me ;-(

Thought I'd save another sucker the trouble of trying.
