Nice deal. Repped. I've owned the Bodysuit case for a while and like it a lot so based on that decided to purchase the one with the kickstand. Decent reviews and hard to pass up for $5.

The best thing I did was upgrade from my iPhone to the Note 2. I can not imagine going back to that tiny screen and the very limited IOS.

The extra bonus is that I never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever have to use iTunes again!!!!!!!!!!!

The phone fits in my pocket with no problems...it's a great size!

Repped to the OP, I ordered one. I currently have an iFace case, which is great...but the hole for the headphone jack is a little to small!

After having a cheap case for my last phone, I decided to go all out and get a ballstic case for this one. Cheaper than an otterbox but still seems solidly built to me.

If you are going to spring for this phone, make sure you've got good protection ;)

I love mine. Switched from iPhone 4S.

Size is perfect once you get used to it.

You can't do one hand operations but it was awkward to do it on my iPhone anyway.

I don't usually use cases, but I picked up two for days that my phone is likely to be dropped (St Patty's Day, etc.). Thanks OP!

As for the Note 2, every other phone, especially iPhones, looks like a toy now. Best phone I've ever used, I'm very happy with my decision to get it.

Love my Note 2. Seemed really big for the first day, and now it seems normal and regular phones seem too small :)

ahannan 01-24-2013 08:48 PM

Love my Note II. Battery lasts twice as long as my EVO 4g. It is lighter and thinner and fits in my pocket nicely. Plenty of memory for apps without an add-on card. SDHC slot for up to 64GB more space.

Picked up the leather kickstand case for the just in case I think i'll need it times. Thanks.

I frickin love the note 2! These are great deals for these boxwave cases. I have a case that is very similar to the boxwave bodysuit textured gel skin case. You can get it on amazon for $3.97 with free shipping.

why spend money on crappy cases when you can get blow it all on a good quality one like the seidio active case with kickstand?

Overwhelming support for Note 2, I would have to agree as well.
Best move from my iPhone 4, frequent iTunes issues upgrades etc...
So glad to be with android and samsung :)

My N2 fills the bill for just about everything that I could want in a phone and portable computer. REALLY NOT TOO BIG--QUITE MANAGEABLE! Truly top-notch construction ($1k list price); pays for itself in saved time over other phones. I did not even consider an iPhone.

A pleasure to use. Well worth the investment, and android rocks.

Right now it's the best phone on the market, bar none.

It feels a little large for the first day or two, after that, everything else seems tiny.

Tip, pop in a 64GB microSD card and you'll have an 80GB unit. The Sandisk ultra mobile class 10 or the new Samsung 64 class 10 are both great cards, often discounted to $50.

khaangaaroo 01-24-2013 11:38 PM

I keep coming back to this thread just cause it makes me feel good about owning a Note 2...haha.

I was back and forth between the Note 2 and some other phones for a while. But now that Paranoid Android is available for the N2, it's hands down the best phone in both hardware and software.

I hate you all!!! :vomit: I got the Nexus 4, and while its nice, within the day I knew what I really wanted all along was the Note 2, but when I was getting ready to box it up the next day, BLAM -- dropped it (without case) onto ground -- cracked the bottom corner. :( Works fine but I couldn't send it back anymore and now I'll never have my Note 2.:(

The GS4 sounded amazing but I was upgrade eligible and needed a phone now (my HTC Inspire was a piece of junk and I cracked the screen a few weeks before I became upgrade eligible).

The thing to keep in mind is that realistically, it won't hit US carriers before July probably. If you can wait it out, great. Otherwise, this seems to be the cream of smartphones at the moment.

I use TTPod music player. If you can get past the Chinese language issue (not everything is translated to English, though the majority of what you need for controls are in English), then it gives you an automatic lock screen music control when using it to play music. There is the option for on screen lyrics display (it downloads available lyrics and album art for each song played with the option to search for current lyrics and/or album art)), options for choosing skins (names for the skins are in Chinese) for the player in full app mode, transparent widget with album art display, create playlists, scan for songs by folder or let it find all music files for you (including ringtones, notification tones, audio files for games and apps, etc. so careful with this option), listen to online content like online radio (haven't tried it yet), and more. If you don't like TTPod, try another music player app that has a lock screen plugin. TTPod is free, so you might want to try it. There may be better options for the lock screen, but this is what I use and like it, especially the full screen album art and bottom screen controls and unlock mechanism for the lock screen.

misterchimpy 01-25-2013 07:39 PM

I'll add to the chorus on the Note 2, it's pretty spectacular. The minor negatives would be

1) It is definitely big, so sometimes it feels like you're holding a dinner plate up to your head when you're making a call  But I mostly use the speakerphone and it's great for that. And if you're insecure about how your phone looks. well, SD is not the place for you.

2) The build quality is good not great. The back cover in particular isn't that well designed, and is kind of plastic-y. But that won't really matter if you buy a case, which is always a good idea, especially when they are this cheap. And the back cover is easily replaced if you want(there are a zillion on ebay for a few $)

As far as everything else, it's awesome. Great speed, battery life, and big screen is terrific.I had not had a new phone in years, so I tried everything before taking the plunge. It wasn't even close, really...it's just really great.

Anyone have any thoughts on the screen protectors(which are offered for $3 for 3 wyb the case) or other recommendations for backup battery, chargers, or other screen protectors?

anyone have recommendation on screen protectors.

I've used Zagg and Skinomi before but based on my research seems like S pen doesn't work well with those.

I've heard of ismooth which is a dry protector and Just Like Glass (JLG) which is a wet protector.

anyone have any recommendation on strength/smoothness.

thanks

I have the Just Like Glass on my Note 2. It's almost as smooth as the gorilla glass. The S pen just slides right on it. The fit is good. It does have a "rainbow effect" on the screen when the screen is off though. That's the only thing I complain about.

I also have the xtremeguard screen protector. The S pen leaves marks on that screen protector, which drives me insane.

Don't know about these cases but I do have the flip cover. It doesn't have all the openings it should, just for front speaker and indentation for home button, no holes for rear speaker, camera/flash. If you want to watch video on it and get decent volume you need to hold open the cover to reflect sound back to you and hold it open for taking pictures/video as well. It is kind of a pain to open/close at least one handed and doesn't give confidence in terms of feel for durability, I don't expect it to last and it should for the price $$$. While it does fine in a pocket, I don't know that the cover will stay closed and protect the screen in the case of dropping the phone.

It was expensive and it is designed by Samsung for the phone but I am disappointed. It takes away from the phone function and doesn't seem to make up for it very well in terms of protection.

swype is pretty neat but try the voice recognition for entering text. Press the microphone icon to start recording and speak clearly, it is pretty impressive. It might have a little delay, but then you see whole sentences pop up on the screen.

I have the Note 2 and it's okay. I wouldn't rave about it as it's a bit rough. All around the iPhone is still a better phone, but the Note 2 was unique enough to draw me away from 4 years of Apple.

I guess it's all subjective. I like the bigger screen, better battery life and the extra memory capacity with the microSD slot.

My goal was to have a device that would serve the purpose of both tablet and phone. The Note does that for sure. Battery life can also be amazing (compared to other Android phones).

But there are some cons. I list these considering how expensive this phone is.

1. Build quality is a bit iffy. Pick up a Galaxy S3 or Note 2 and compare to a Nokia Lumia 920, HTC One X or iPhone. Premium feel is subjective. Personally I don't like that my back cover creaks when I handle the phone and the buttons feel like they won't last the life of a two year contract. Before I get flamed, yes it's nice to be able to remove/swap the battery, I suppose.

2. The screen, while big and colorful, is not perfect. The Note 2 is WAY better than the PenTile arrangment on the S3 (so gross) and the colors are pretty punchy. However, AMOLED does not satisfy me as much as a good LCD (do yourself a favor and go see an HTC One X). There is some sort of latency/lag when scrolling slowly thru text and it drives me nuts. To be fair, I read a ton on my phone so maybe I'm picky.

3. If you like to try custom ROMS, look elsewhere. Yes, there are ROM out for the Note 2, but development is slow. I have read this is due somewhat to Samsungs poor documentation and support for Exynos chips (remember, the S3 has a Snapdragon processor). If you want to use the Spen, the ROM support is VERY limited. TouchWiz is not bad, but it ain't great.

It's not a bad phone and I don't regret buying it. But next time I will probably stick with a Nexus device.

Yeah on price, I could see that. I was lucky enough to get it for $99 on contract through AT&T retentions on my upgrade so compared to a 4S or a Lumia, I think I got a steal at that price.

And that's just AT&T ROMS.

Yes. There are choice. Just none of them work that well. CleanROM has been pretty good.

Jedi was/is excellent, especially with battery life. I'm running Team Asylum CM now and it's just as good for AOSP. Don't really care for the S Pen all too much.
