GoDaddy Code for Domain Name Renewals (56% off)

I was stuck with a GoDaddy.com domain name that expired and couldn't find a coupon code on slickdeals that worked, so I searched around and found this:

GDA776

Took my .COM renewal, private registration, and business registration total from $28 to $15.85

There are better deals to be had if you wait, but if you need something right now like I did it's better than nothing.

wikipost 01-25-2013 04:54 AM

This post can and should be edited by users like you :)

Use GDA776 for 56% off; if you got in on the Groupon deal that's expiring soon this is extra slick.

Krogan 01-25-2013 06:11 AM

Looks good to me, why the TD? Especially for those of us with Groupon credit left over that expires in February some time, do we think it'll get much better than this by then?

elohel 01-25-2013 07:00 AM

Only took 20% off mine, but better than nothing. Thanks and TU

nagkarjun 01-25-2013 07:27 AM

combine with groupon coupon: magic works

Krogan 01-25-2013 08:13 AM

Coming up as 43% off my .net and 20% off my .co.

Is $30 per year for a .co normal? I had no idea those would turn out to be so expensive..

masterunix 01-25-2013 09:16 AM

Thank you, combined with godaddy coupon :)

It was a deal where you could get Godaddy credit at 1/3 of it's price - and use it on anything.
Lots of codes got canceled though because people were abusing it. So ... pay $10 for $30 worth of credit and renew a domain for 3 years ~= $3/yr for .com registrations/renewals

http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/8...credit-for

jlsf2 01-25-2013 10:50 AM

Wow, that would've been perfect for me. Oh well, the included code works well enough. THanks.

cryospartan 01-25-2013 11:09 AM

Thanks and repped...Saved me 47% off my .net. applied my groupon and total came to $9.27 for 5years renewal.

imgamekc 01-25-2013 11:10 AM

Frankly.. I don't understand why most people use go daddy right now.. there are much cheaper options for domain name registration.. here are a few .50 cents per year from register.com

https://www.register.com/promo/do...PAod7jkA1A

http://www.namecheap.com/ is 3.99 per year

Domain.com is 1.99
http://www.domain.com/domaincom/l...PAod7jkA1A

Hope someone finds this useful..

Seems the math is a bit off.. $28 -56% = $12.32 ... good deal anyway as you saved me 47%.

It works great for New .com purchases also! I got 2 new domains for 5 years along with private registration for 5 years for $113.62. Savings of $137.98!! Then I also got to use my $70.00 credit from GoDaddy so my final total was $43.62.

New domains for $7.99 for as many years as you want
Private registrations for $3.99 for as many years as you want.

Great Deal! with Godaddy Coupone GDA776

That groupon deal got me registered. I don't feel like I'm saving any money overall though, especially with two .co domains. :-(

The discounted pricing is usually for new domains. Deep renewal discounts are hard to come by.

steven2004 01-25-2013 01:08 PM

You can actually check this website for the Groupon for a huge discount

http://couprecoup.com/?national=0...y&d=&sort=

From the thread two weeks ago about this, it seems that you can only use one Groupon per Godaddy.com account. If you applied two codes into one account, Godaddy will void both codes.

My guess would be because of GoDaddy's policies and mis-steps recently. There's a lot of people who won't host or register with them now no matter what the cost.

Considering the huge discount the coupon offers, that's the only thing I can think of to explain the TDs.

imgamekc 01-25-2013 01:47 PM

Renewals .. but why start with GD anyhow?

Sorry for the confusion, but my point is valid.. none the less GD is expensive to start with and renewals are not a cheap, but with recent GD issues .. why start with them in the first place..

Hosting costs are way higher then other places .. guess people just prefer to go with the advertised brand name.

queentutt 01-25-2013 03:15 PM

well, i'm ashamed of it, but I use them. If things go haywire, there's a live, helpful, english-speaking person 24/7.

Why not start with them? They're an established, reliable company that has good support. I wouldn't use their hosting, but I do use their domain registration services and have for a very long time.

You're right I divided my total by the original total. Actually it's 44% off...

thebigcountry 01-25-2013 09:40 PM

took a 4 year private registration down to $12 from $40 - thanks OP!!!

imgamekc 01-26-2013 04:59 AM

look at the pricing for go daddy

Go Daddy's registration for initial domain names are more expensive if you had seen my original links post here it shows you where you can register a domain name with register.com and it was .50 fifty cents to register.. and they are more reliable and dependable then go daddy.

Your points are valid but when I purchased my domain it was a slickdeal from years ago for $1.50 and I was unaware of cheaper alternatives. Now I don't feel like trying to transfer it to a cheaper site so long as I can find a decent code that works for renewal. If I were to buy a new name today it would definitely be from one of the sites you mentioned, thank you for the links.

wow - just picked up $75 for $18 on that site - and the code works! Repped - thank you!

steven2004 01-26-2013 08:04 PM

Do not forget to combine the Groupon with the coupon code in the thread.

So nice of someone to create a wiki for this thread, unfortunately it was to use as a soapbox for some vague problem they have with GoDaddy...

kimrari 01-28-2013 07:31 AM

Thanks OP. TU and Repped. Code worked with significant savings. I now have time to begin considering other registrars.

spamdie 01-31-2013 03:25 PM

I used it to try to renew my .WS domain names.

Didn't give me %56 off.

But it did discount works for their "privacy" service which coupons usually never do.

So instead of 15.99 + 9.99 I just paid the 15.99

Thank you for mentioning it. I can't believe i missed that groupon deal when it was sold from a reputable retailer.

I successfully pulled down a $70 Groupon from CoupRecoup as well. $19.99 from a Mr. "Richard" for "Instant Delivery." Sure enough it was instant. I really thought it could be a scam, but the gamble payed off this time. Probably better odds than playing Roulette at a casino :) That's 2 wins vs. 0 scams thus far in this godaddy thread. There are some of these $70 groupons on ebay as well. More buyers protection there.

Used the $19.99 to $70 groupon in addition to this GDA776 (56% off) to renew 3 domains for 2 years. Worked out to be $3.53/year (or $0.29/month) with private registration and "Free 10GB Economy Hosting with domain purchase" since these are legacy domains http://support.godaddy.com/help/a...ng-account

Cheapest domain, private registration, and web hosting renewal ever?

the OP was for renewals not new reg. godaddy has new reg for .99 just like anywhere else does, so sure saving .49 cents is good but...

and as for hosting, never Host where you buy your domains anyway, thats just very bad practice.

all registrars have isues of some kind, buyer be aware!

Where would you recommend getting general hosting? I was considering renewing a site on GD, but the renewal for the hosting is quite high compared to the initial setup. I am more than willing to jump ship to another host, but I have little experience with any others.

how do i use the coupon that i buy from recoup? I just receive an email to download a coupon and it's just a file with what appears to be a coupon code. How do I enter that into godaddy? Any help would be appreciated!

etronz 02-07-2013 11:03 AM

yes, enter the code into godaddy's website. It will be added to your account as store credit (shows up at checkout). I consumed my $70s in one transaction, but I think you can use it across multiple transactions.

that really depends alot on what you are hosting and what your needs are, (how many domains, whats you are running, level of support needed etc.) everyone has different good/bad experiences with web hosts, some good BASIC hosting sites I have used and still use are:

http://www.site5.com http://www.siteground.com http://www.bluehost.com http://www.hostgator.com ... for a bit more $ if you need more options there is http://www.mediatemple.net

my suggestion is do some research, check out features, and sign up for a month on a host or two you like and see how they really work once signed up, if you have some specific questions, feel free to pm me. good luck!

Is it still possible to get the $70 (or smaller) Godaddy credit on CoupRecoup or on eBay (or elsewhere). It looks like it's gone from CoupRecoup and I couldn't find anything useful on eBay, but it's 2AM and I might possibly be a little brain-dead.

If someone knows where I can buy a chunk of credit on GD at a good discount, let me know.

Life saver I have a renewal due in less 3 weeks. DidDidn't want to risk letting it go and then registering it again.

Hawk2007 02-25-2013 07:39 AM

Used a similar renewal code and Groupon a few weeks ago to do a nine-year renew for about $33 out of pocket.

Fairly slick IMO.

debothemidget 03-02-2013 06:45 AM

Thanks OP! I saved 56% off a .com domain renewal. This seems to be one of the better renewal coupons at this time.

I would add that there's currently a working 99 cent .com code

FB99COM

Just got a fresh domain this morning with it...
