FEDERAL TAX E-File for FREE - No income limit

Used this last year with good results. Searched but didn't find that anyone else had posted.

TaxAct Free [taxact.com]

It's true! FREE to prepare, FREE to print, FREE to e-file - no income or age restrictions. Get the fastest tax refund possible with free e-file. Handles simple AND complex tax returns — supports 1040, 1040A, & 1040EZ, and includes all e-fileable IRS forms to handle all filing statuses & life situations.

They charge $14.95 to add state filing. But for us Nevadans (no state income tax), this is all we need!

I've used TaxAct free for federal the last 3 years and state for free at the Illinois Dept. of Revenue website.
TaxAct is very easy, you can choose step-by-step or fill the form(s) in line-by-line.
Not sure why someone with an uncomplicated tax situation would pay to have their taxes done.

Does it allow to enter interest/dividend income from saving accounts?

BFisoverrated 02-02-2013 06:47 AM

^yes, interest from a savings account is common & simple

Maybe the W2 is wrong. I would verify it with my employer.

If you want to do state e-filing also, actually TaxACT 2012 Ultimate Bundle (included fed+state efile) $11.90 online version is cheaper then.

Yes, it walks you through EVERYTHING, if you want it to. It even walks you through each w2 or you can choose to input by yourself. Very easy, been using it for several years.
