Nice TV but I paid $800 for this over Black Friday -- Dell deal (after 7% tax) so luke warm at best.

I believe that deal was $1100 w/ $300 Dell GC :)

Black Friday is over.

musicman40nj 01-27-2013 11:37 AM

12/14 Purchase

1174.85 with tax
-180.00 Dell gift card promo -- 2 $500 gift cards (merged) + $180 promo instant used towards TV
-245.00 ($300 egift card sold on Ebay)
---------
$749.85 price paid on Dell promotion (after selling $300 egift card)

I like the TV but wouldn't pay $900 for it with TVs being a big sale item this week before the Superbowl there is better to be had.

musicman40nj 01-27-2013 11:39 AM

Clueless thinking Black Friday is best time to buy a TV

What time is better than BLack Friday to get a deal on a TV? The week before the Superbowl. TVs have been dropping in price in case you haven't noticed BUT hey it is your money so jump on something mediocre.

My deal on this TV was mid December by the way. There were much better TV deals right after Balck Friday and with prices falling that trend will continue.

musicman40nj 01-27-2013 11:42 AM

Guess I scrutinize for the Slickest deal... But glad folks give this a thumbs up for $150 more than I paid in mid December (guess I am slicker)...

Yours was also a lot more work.

Alot of leg work. I do remember that Dell $500 w/ $95 bonus because I purchased the Dell U2713HM. Aside from that, this is still a great deal without the hassel of the extra worked needed for that specified amount. Also comes with $18 eBay Bucks :)

musicman40nj 01-27-2013 11:50 AM

10 min to sell $300 ecard on Ebay.
5 minutes to order 2 gift cards (500 each).
5-10 min to merge the 2 gift cards for $1000 and place the order via phone.

Maybe 20-30 minutes work to nab the TV for $750 with the TV delivering to my home.

Finishing up my man cave now to hang this on the wall and use the new Onkyo 809 receiver I picked up from Amazon for under $430 and the 5 Klipsch Gallery G28's for wall speakers (200 each) and 1 Klipsch Reference 12 subwoofer for 300...

Still hoping to nab another 2 Gallery 28s for 200 each to have 7.1 surround in my man cave.

Then I don't know why you brought up Black Friday in the first place.

Not sure why you're defending a long-dead deal so vigorously, but nevertheless, Dell gift cards sell for ~10% discount off face value on eBay, and eBay/Paypal take another ~10% cut. On a $300 GC, you're realistically netting about $250. After factoring all of this, plus additional shipping charges and the very realistic real chances of getting ripped of by the buyer, there's no way $300 in Dell GCs remotely equals $300 in cash.

Not defending the deal -- just defending the reality that TV prices are dropping and this is a week that you can usually snag some great deals.

If you read my math I sold the $300 gift card for $245 after all fees (Ebay/Paypal) and used the other $180 towards the purchase.

I am happy that everyone isn't a super Slickdealer -- makes my life easier.

Chitown021 01-27-2013 01:51 PM

Nice deal! I bought the "fat" model of this TV from BB on a Black Friday deal.

Given the option I would have paid the extra hundred bucks to get this one. Lots of good TV deals coming out ahead of Superbowl Sunday. I knew I should've waited until after the 1st of the year to buy.

eleetsole 01-27-2013 01:58 PM

i got the same model but 60 inch for $999 at best buy

Lindsford 01-27-2013 03:47 PM

If you don't mind open box, much better deals can be had for a little more.

What about the close to $40 in paypal/ebay fees ;-)

That makes it about $100 less and a lot more work (ebay selling, paying 1175 up front, etc.)

Sold at $275 for the $300 egift card -- netted $245 after $30 in fees

musicman40nj 01-27-2013 04:17 PM

Not much of a cash front

Fronted $1000 -- received $245 from Ebay sale a few weeks after buying the TV for the egift card as the other two $90's were used on the purchase of the TV (basically covered the tax with those).

30 min work at most to get this in mid-Dec for around $750.

CFLacky 01-27-2013 04:25 PM

Thumbs up for the price. Again deals can only be compared AT THE TIME POSTED. Will future deals be better? Maybe? Was it better in the past? Who cares. Not sure about the others here but I have no way of going back in time and buying something 2 months ago.

I'd like to thank the Op for posting, somebody might feel "slicker" but remember those who are always waiting for the "better" deal will be caught waiting forever, as a better deal is always down the road.

stringsoftears 01-27-2013 04:26 PM

For all of you saying "better can be had," please post a link.

Again, my point is only relevant if you don't mind open box.

55" LG LM6200 3D 120HZ $823-870 depending on condition shipping fees waived after talking to customer service
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...r=&sr=1-13

55" Samsung ES6500 3D 120HZ $933

http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-UN5...55+samsung

50" Panasonic ST50 3D 600HZ one of the best TVs per $ $737-770

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...er=&sr=1-1

Personally I grabbed the ES7100 for $1050. But the ST50 was a close 2nd for me.

All those TVs are a few hundred dollars less then retail sale prices and can grab square trade warranties for super cheap.

If you refuse to try an open box these don't apply to you.

papitosabe 01-27-2013 04:46 PM

anyone else waiting on some 65" Sammy w/wifi, and smart tv, and 3D, with a built in bluray player and ball licker for like $500 ?? or is it just me?

sandipsangani 01-27-2013 05:03 PM

I am about to pull the triger. what you guy say?

sandipsangani 01-27-2013 05:09 PM

Just bought one. I was at bestbuy 30 mins ago considering to buy UN55EH6000FXZA then i saw this deal and see the pics of TV this is very slim compare to Best buy one for $899 plus tax and which is fat model shows on best buy.

I am glad i have smartphone and saw this deal on phone and just bought one.

Luke warm? You won't get this tv for $800 for a while. STOP COMPARING Black Friday sales to now. It is driving me insane :omg: Good thing I grabbed the last SD on a time-machine though so I can go back in time and get it for the black friday price

papitosabe 01-27-2013 05:32 PM

I'm thinking Friday and Saturday before the superbowl are gonna have some sick deals...I hope so, I don't remember when the good deals came out for the superbowl last year...

papitosabe 01-27-2013 05:46 PM

nevermind, there was absolutely nothing in the 4 or 5 SD star range for TV's on Fri Feb 3, or Sat Feb 4, the 2 days before the superbowl...

So, instead of new TV, you got ES7100 open box from amazon warehouse?
If its new, share the link because I could not find ES7100 anywhere for less than 1499-5% cashback!

Usually they tack the extra number on the end so that you cant price match the TV anywhere. They will make a special run of TVs with the model number for a specific deal or store.

ViciousTide 01-28-2013 08:25 AM

I got this about 2 years ago from newegg, around $1k + FS + NT. I still enjoy it to this day, wonderful quality as a product! Samsung is the Best!
