Pretty good price, but I have this card and it has the annoying habit of intermittently asking to be reformatted, obviously losing all my data. It always works fine for a bit after reformatting. It also runs flaming hot.

kittykat 01-29-2013 10:23 PM

Worth a try

For $5 which is 31 cents a gig I am in to try it. Thanks rbw.

grazzhoppa 01-30-2013 07:22 AM

9% of the rebate's value is used by one 48 cent stamp to mail in the forms.

letour2 01-30-2013 07:23 AM

Good price, but I just had another rebate refused by Patriot. I was very thorough with my rebate form, upc code, etc. Three refusals is two too many. Hopefully everyone else will have better luck!

Patriot doesn't do the rebate. It is 4myrebate. I never had a problem with them and only takes about 4 weeks.

ItzSublime 01-30-2013 07:32 AM

FYI, I would highly advise steering clear of this if you plan on using it for an Android device. I have had nothing but issues with it in the following: ASUS Eee Pad (Transformer TF101), Sprint HTC Evo, Sprint Galaxy S3.

I have however used it in both my PC (HP dv5 series) and my Wii with no problems.

Just a personal take, I guess $5 isn't much of a risk either way...

It will be my 11th card. I don't know why I have so many.....

schloop 01-30-2013 07:51 AM

TY TU I needed 1 of these

FlipBumWalla 01-30-2013 07:52 AM

Perhaps I'm just getting old ... but I don't do rebates much anymore. I just get tired of the 90% rejection and having to "fight" with someone to do what they are supposed to do. Especially for $5, if they reject it, I know I'm not going to argue. So, I'll skip it.

Good luck.

NickSizzle 01-30-2013 08:00 AM

Class 4, I'll pass.

drew2money 01-30-2013 09:01 AM

Why is this on the FP???? Is all SD care about is referals?? Reviews say it's POS!!!

You must be doing it wrong. I've done hundreds of rebates over the last decade and not one rejection.

I'm only skipping it this time around, because I bought this exact card for the same price last year and am not happy with it.

Bingo.
Repped for speaking your mind and saying the truth and refusing to be another blind SD lamb following SD herd.

One thing you would realize over time is that, any crappy deal from Amazon, NE, BB and few other merchants go FP as soon as it is posted, even with very few TU or comments.

ProContra 01-30-2013 09:22 AM

Not too bad for $5 after rebate got one.

you must be doing it wrong. over the past 5 years. Ive only had 1 rebate not come through and it only took 10 minutes on the phone to clear up. That is 1 in about 50. But I guess the $5 rebate is just a hassle when you can find one for $8 w/o rebates sometimes

Not really going to get involved in the discussion of what makes front page or not, but this is rated four stars on Newegg and most reviews are positive. If it was lower than four I would have skipped posting. I thought the biggest complaint here wouldbe thats it's class 4.

TwIzTeD 01-30-2013 09:35 AM

picked one up with 2-day shoprunner.

thanks op.

Cherub 01-30-2013 09:37 AM

Got one for my Craig 741d tablet. This card is good enough for it--they're both throwaways.

My 2 Acekard's are not picky at all; I used all kinds of microSD and they all seem to work OK.

I absolutely agree. I would rather pay a couple of extra bucks and not have to deal with the MIR hassle. For those who don't mind dealing with them, more power to you.

jcwy999 01-30-2013 11:30 AM

OK, nobody caught it all day, so I'll just say it. First class mail is 46 cents, dude. It was 45 cents a few days ago. The USPS pulled a quick one and no one in the country caught that either.

CaliforniaNavel 01-30-2013 11:50 AM

Got 8 gb for 1.99 a while back with FS and no rebate BS. i would have paid $5 straight up for this, but the rebate kills it for me like many others here.

I don't like seeing rebates on FP, personally... Worthy of posting on SD, but should be buried...

I had done about 8 Patriot rebates, all came without any problem. From my own experience, Patriot rebates are excellent.

The biggest issue was heavy battery drain. I know other people have been having this issue showing up on their battery as "Media Server". It has been linked to many things, one of those being files being corrupted when opened from the SD card which continues to use your battery even after you force close your music player.

Removing this card solved the problem for me, I am now using a Sandisk 32 GB (the one found here: http://slickdeals.net/f/5585212-SanDisk-Ultra-32-GB-microSDHC-Class-10-UHS-1-Memory-Card-30MB-s-with-Adapter-SDSDQUA-032G-U46A-Retail-Package-Prime-Eligible-17-99-shipped) and have not had any issues with it (although it does tend to run a little hot I have found).

Again, I guess for $5 it might be worth a shot, especially if you can find another use for it if it doesn't function well in your S3.

Someone rear-ended me. Pushed me towards the car in front of me. My car got totaled.

A-hole from behind told his insurance company I was at fault, denied my insurance claim. Lost my car. Lost tow money, lost storage money, lost a lot of money.

Suing that motherfcuker in court now.

Wish I had a dash cam during that time...now it's just my words against his...hope I win...wish me luck.

Wow, I don't know how any insurance company can deny their client is at fault if he is at the very end of the rear-ender chain. Sounds like you had some really bad luck. Good luck, I hope your luck turns around.

Yep, I think a dash cam would be great for liability reasons like this. Ironic thing is most of those Russian dash cam vids incriminate the driver instead of exonerating them.

Insurance company can deny their client's fault even though the police report says the truth so they don't have to pay out to the victims suffered from their clients actions.

Also, I don't get what's with the dash cam in Russia, is it like a MUST-HAVE thing there?

When everyone think of dash cam people think of the Russians. Are they bad/reckless drivers?

I heard if you get into an accident in Russia you gotta run otherwise the other driver will beat you up, is that true?

I'm no fan of insurance companies either. Once I was behind a truck in a parking lot and he pulled into a space. I continued down the aisle, and right when I was behind him, he decided he didn't like that space and backed into my car. His insurance wanted to find me 40% at fault because I didn't honk. The reason being I was busy throwing my car into reverse instead, but the guy backed out too fast and he managed to smash my fender. My insurance negotiated it down to 80/20, but I didn't think I should be at fault at all.

Yes, I guess dash cams are a must-have thing in Russia. I've read it's due to rampant corruption, there's a more detailed article explaining it here:
http://www.geek.com/articles/geek...t-2013019/
I don't know if most Russians are bad/reckless drivers, but it sure looks it from the vids!

More to the subject, what's the minimum speed you need for a decent dash cam? Class 10?

Class 4 should be good for 480p dash cams, but after that incident money is not a problem for me anymore. Some things are worth more than money, my car was sentimental. So I'll just get the 32gb class 10 for $20 in slickdeals.

But yeah man, if you had that dash cam you wouldn't have to worry about who's fault.

But then again all insurance companies are corrupted and evil out to steal every penny in your pocket anyway. Even if you had that camera and even if it did show that you honked. They gonna claim you were tailgating or too close to the car in front of you. But I'll my buy own insurance...I mean...my dash cam is my own insurance ;)

Average dash cams are $50, good one's are $150, very good ones are $300. $300 + $20 for a 32gb card I would say $320 investment on a dash cam for a lifetime is good insurance for me.

I believe it the same issue I've been thru with this type of cards. It works OK when you first format it, then a few days later your phone will not recognize the card. I found myself taking the card out put it on the SD-Card converter and even like that is not recognize by computer as it will ask for the card to be formatted.
If you get one, do not save critical files to it or you will lose it.

there are plenty of comments in reviews for the Patriot LX Class 10 cards on Amazon/Egg and on SD

VladStar 01-31-2013 09:26 AM

IMHO class 4 it's too slow for 16Gb, will take about an hour to transfer full capacity data to the computer. Also my Canon full-HD camcorder wants class 6 or higher, when shooting at 30Mbps stream. I'll pass on that one.

teamblinkkraze 01-31-2013 09:49 AM

the reviews on newegg are pretty bad. it has 4 stars, but most of the high ratings are simply "it's works" or "works great" without mentioning what they used it on and how much they use it. the detailed reviews mention that it's way slower than other class 4 cards and that it doesn't work well in cell phones. i was going to use this in my galaxy s2, but i'm going to have to turn down this great deal. I NEED A BIGGER CARD damnit

iNeal 02-01-2013 02:16 AM

deal's dead? I see the price as $12.99 now, even in cart.

The "Class" number is a measure of sustained transfer rate. Class 4 usually provides better small-block random-write speeds than Class 10, as needed by flashed-based OSs. "Usually" applies to Transcend, SanDisk, Delkin, APG. It does not apply to PNY, Patriot, Kingston, or Adata. The newer UHS-1 (4-bit transfer path) mechanism provides the best of both worlds (Very high sustained-transfer rates AND fast small-block random-write speeds) for devices that support it.

richiebrowne 02-01-2013 05:21 AM

$12.99 in the cart for me too. Looks dead.
