Unless otherwise stated in the offer, these bonuses and/or awards are intended for persons who are not, and have not previously been, NFL Extra Points credit card members with Barclaycard. You understand and agree that, unless we otherwise state, you are no longer eligible to receive these bonuses and/or awards for any new NFL Extra Points credit card accounts you open after your first account with Barclaycard is opened. If you receive a bonus or award for which you are not eligible, we may revoke the bonus or award, or reduce your points by the amount of the award, or charge your account for the fair value of the bonus or award, at our option.

They are not upfront.

Most popular FAQ:
1. Already a NFL Visa Signature Card Holder - Can I apply?
No
2. Already a NFL Master Card Holder - Can I apply?
Yes, ( as of 2/4/13, don't bother as Barclay has caught on)
3. Once I was a NFL Credit Card Holder and closed the acccount - Can I apply?
Yes.
4. I have poor or normal credit - Can I apply?
No. Usually Visa Signature will be approved only for better and best credit customers

Barclays has somewhere buried in the small print that you have to be a permanent resident while in some other places it only says legal resident. From other forums I can tell you that some visa holders get approved while others get denied (with the denial letter citing permanent residence as a reason). Also there have been cases where Barclays asked the applicant to fax a copy of his US passport/green card. So if you're here on a visa it's a gamble.

Check status at:
www.myapplicationstatus.com/barclays

IF you are Instantly Approved, you should set up online account and check program overview under reweards to see if they say your bonus points will actually be 40,000 like advertised. many are only finding 10,000 bonus points are linked to their new accounts.
you can send a secure online message to barclay and ask them to correct this as their offer clearly says 40,000 bonus points.
Bonus Points are Advertised at 40,000 Points but your online account under Rewards and Program Overview may only reference 10,000 Bonus Points : Cardmembers will receive a one time bonus award of forty thousand (40,000) points after at least $2,500 in Net Purchases (that are not later returned or rescinded) has been charged to the new account in the first ninety (90) days after account opening. Bonus Points will be posted within approximately thirty (30) days after the qualifying transaction. Use of Balance Transfer Checks or convenience checks will not qualify for any bonus points. The Balance Transfer is subject to the Balance Transfer Fee set forth in the Terms and Conditions

The mask promotion ends today at 4PM CST. So this offer may go on past then, but no way to tell (unless OP has more information than what's in the offer terms).

www.extrapointsgiveaway.com

The mask promotion is apparently some New Orleans street team passing out NFL masks and a flyer for this credit card offer.

schizoid 02-01-2013 11:30 PM

I'm looking to get a new CC (one of my old ones died from lack of use, so I could use more credit). FICO score of over 820, so I can get pretty much any card. Don't actually need the credit line itself, so minimums, etc, not an issue.

Is this the best deal going?

iBoo 02-01-2013 11:33 PM

hahaha 2000 in 90 days is hard for me

i liked the 1000 $ requirement

slickrick15 02-01-2013 11:36 PM

The only negative in this deal is the $2500 spending threshold in 90 days.
Aside from that, yes it's the best deal out today.

boourns84 02-01-2013 11:46 PM

thank you, i applied for it a few months ago and they wanted me to call their 1800 #, I applied for it just now and instantly got approved!

imjosh 02-02-2013 12:12 AM

I got this card like 8 months ago and after getting the bonus I forgot about the card and they closed it after 6 months inactivity. Wonder if I will be eligible to get this promotion if I apply again?

Thanks for the heads up! Just applied and got approved however, the only card I'm seeing upon signup when clicking the link is a Mastercard. I don't see where it says you must get approved for the Visa Signature version to get the sign up bonus. In fact from what it looks like, you can only apply for the Mastercard version when clicking the sign up link. Am I missing something?

Depends on the team you select, some are MasterCard, some are Visa.

astroff 02-02-2013 07:54 AM

if you spend 2500 you can redeem for $25 so your total $425 statement credit

ggarriso 02-02-2013 08:00 AM

I have exactly 2500 to pay off on a vacation, is it worth the credit pull to get 425 off and then cancel the card?

I would think it's worth it for sure. Why cancel the card after you pay it off? There's no annual fee involved and you could leave the credit line open until they choose to close it due to inactivity.

Can I also apply this one as well?

anyone who also got the last barclys deal tried and approved?

Yes they did that to my wife, they gave her the mastercard deal not the visa and she has very good credit

You must qualify for a Visa Signature card. If you don't qualify Barclays might offer you a Platinum card with lower tier rewards.

May be this is what happened?

No, they don't "offer" you a lower tier reward, they just sign you up for a lower tier reward. That's what these creeps did to a friend with 800 credit.

If you apply for this, just be prepared to be downgraded automatically and receive a much lower reward. It's in the fine print. Once they have your SS# and credit info, they are going to sign you up for the card of their choice, just don't assume you are guaranteed to get the $400 promo.

See what I mean? They dangle the $400 carrot and then sign you up for a completely different card you really didn't want and you only received a $100 bonus. It's all perfectly legal because they buried it in the fine print.

Barclays is notorious for that. They also manage the US Airways cards. They are the worst credit card company IMHO

The Bears card is one of the few that does not have a Visa logo on the promo page.
If you got approved for 5k that would equal the lowest CL for a Signature card so I would think it does qualify for the promo.

You'll want to call CS after you get the card to confirm though.

Most of the teams on the promo page have a Visa Signature logo on the card. A few do not.
Since Visa is named in the promo they probably just don't want to put the MC logo on those cards for obvious reasons. However, as long as you qualify for that higher tier card I would imagine the rewards are the same.
Just call CS to confirm.

Got the Bears MasterCard the last time they had this promo and got 40,000 points. Points qualified for should be under Rewards drop down and then click on Progam Overview. Points bonus should be near the bottom IF this is working like last time they had this deal.

If you got approved for 7k you absolutely should be in the Signature card.. which qualifies you for the 40k.

gloreglabert 02-02-2013 09:57 AM

Can people who actually see 40k points in the Rewards Overview section post their CL's? Did everyone who get approved for 5k+ see the 40k, or is everyone only seeing the 10k?

Login into the account and read the rewards term and conditions. It will tell you what your initial bonus is.

NDman 02-02-2013 10:01 AM

My wife applied (I already got the $400 for $1000 spent last time around) and got approved for 5k limit. The program overview does say 10000 points after the first purchase. She called Barclay and the agent told her that the computer showed the proper 40000 points after $2500 spent. The agent told her to check again in 24-48 hours. It should reflect on her account.

Stay tuned guys, and keep checking.

I haven't applied, I'm just trying to figure out whether the bonus will post correctly or whether people are going to have to fight for it.

I called customer service.. They said mine is Visa Platinum.. But she confirmed that she sees 40k account opening bonus in my account terms and conditions.. I asked her 10 times and she confirmed it.. And also she did put a note on my account about this so I can call if I do not get the 40k points..

I hope I do not have any problems...

Thanks. I know that last time back in September it showed the 40k bonus under program overview but do not remember when I logged in to check. Probably after I got the welcome email.

All they have to do is claim it was an expired offer and that the only current offer is 10,000 points.

Thanks. It seems they are closed for week end. Will try to call them on Monday and inform how it goes.

salvag 02-02-2013 10:54 AM

I was approved for only a $2,300 credit limit. I was worried that I would only recieve 10000 bonus points since I didn't qualify for a visa signature, so I called Barclays. The phone rep assured me that I was eligible for the full 40000 bonus regardless of my low credit limit. I made him make a note on my account just incase I have issues with the points not posting later. I also read over the terms and conditions of the offer, and nowhere does it state that the 40000 bonus is limited to visa signature holders only. So, to all those worried that you won't receive the full bonus points, don't worry.

MaheshK 02-02-2013 10:56 AM

One of the most dumb customer service I have seem in long time., All I wanted to ask was to check if card I applied last month can be upgraded to this offer and they had no clue what I was talking about! Finally the 7th person says I should apply for new card

Galahad 02-02-2013 11:00 AM

I'm confused: I got approved, with 8k limit (so I got the 40k point, right?). Then I go check the "Reward>Program Overview"and get the pdf for "Reward Program Terms and Conditions", and the only mention to a bonus is:

(B) First Use Bonus Points - After using your Extra Points card to make an initial purchase or balance transfer, you will be eligible to receive a one-time bonus award of ten thousand (10,000) Points. Bonus Points will be posted at the close of your first billing statement after an initial qualifying purchase or balance transfer is made. Balance Transfer Checks do not qualify for bonus Points.

So I am screwed, I got the Platinum ...

Then I go to "Guide to Benefits", and I see:

With Visa Signature, you can enjoy unsurpassed purchasing power, all the strength, recognition, and acceptance of the Visa brand, and the prestige of a premium payment card available only to a select [...]

So I am pretty lost here. Anybody understands what is going on? (I have a feeling that I am not going to like it )

This one is good for take the money and run. I did the offer in September for 40,000 points. Am waiting on them to offer me some additional bonuses as I have not used the card since November. If not, they can cancel the card after 6 months of inactivity. Fine by me if no more offers by then. Today was for the SO. I have PenFed and the SO uses it as they do not like to remember which card to use. PenFed works for that.

Same situation with me. I applied for the Packers MC and got approved for a $7500 credit limit. Logged in and looked at the T&C which showed "a one-time bonus points award of 10,000 after first qualifying purchase", got a little pissed and called and was assured that I indeed will get 40,000 after $2,500 spend in 90 days. Still a little uneasy about it since it doesn't actually say this in my account however, the phone rep was adamant about my account being eligible for the 40,000 bonus.

Yes, I have been approved. Not sure for which card yet though (8k limit, so hopefully the signature).

Beetlebomber 02-02-2013 11:59 AM

This is kind of ridiculous and I am really hating their customer service and I don't even have the card in hand! Called again just to be sure that I would get the bonus points stated on the sign up page (I qualified for a $7500 MC). I told the rep I would like to "verify my sign up bonus" without mentioning the 40,000 points. After a brief hold, the rep said that I would get 10,000 points after a first qualifying purchase. I then told him about the 40,000 bonus points offer that I signed up under in which he backtracked and said that the account would update after 5 days and should reflect that special sign up bonus at that time and that I should call back on Wednesday. I don't know who or what to believe when talking to them when I call in.

Has anyone done this who already had and closed a Barlay NFL card? I had one from a previous $200 promo that I cancelled about a month ago. I noticed in the fine print that it says:

The Balance Transfer is subject to the Balance Transfer Fee set forth in the Terms and Conditions. From time to time, we may offer bonuses or points or other premiums to new NFL Extra Points Cardmembers.

I don't think the 4pm CT deadline is for the 40K points offer. The bottom of the page says the following:

6. Mask Promotion: NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. The NFL Extra Points mask promotion at Super Bowl XLVII is open to legal U.S. residents, 18 and older. Void where prohibited. Starts at 12 PM CT on 1/30/13 and ends at 4 PM CT on 2/2/13. Sponsored by Barclaycard. For official rules visit www.extrapointsgiveaway.com. NFL Entities (as defined in the Official Rules) have not offered or sponsored this sweepstakes in any way.

So, apparently there is/was a mask promotion that expired at 4pm CT.

Denied with 747 CK :( Applied at 1:55pm CST. Going to try the reconsideration line tomorrow (866-408-4064, if open)

Any tips for Barclays reconsideration?

ellenoralan 02-02-2013 04:19 PM

My wife and me did BOTH the $200 deal AND the $400 deal. Might try for this one too!!!

x_ge0rge 02-02-2013 04:23 PM

So based on the wiki, Mc holder can apply and eligible for the promo?

Tia

hchan221 02-02-2013 04:34 PM

So will you get the 40K bonus points if you apply for the CC with teams that does not show the Visa logo (ie Giants, Packers, Bears, etc)? I know someone asked about the Bears but I just want to make sure if this would apply since you will be getting a MasterCard as opposed to a Visa

mebuddy6 02-02-2013 05:14 PM

I signed up for the Bears credit card, which was a Platinum Mastercard. I got approved right away for $2800 and I did speak with CSR and they confirmed the promotion was on my account. Spend $2500 within 3 months and receive 40,000 in points.

Also... just like the original post stated, in the rewards section of my online account it did only state, "Receive 10,000 points after initial purchase" and nothing about the promotion of the bonus 40,000 points.

Which number did you call, this guy on the line is an idiot. My GreenBay Mastercard account got instantly approved for $1500, and only shows 10,000 pts bonus.

Lady read off the entire rewards terms for me, which was nice, her script included the 40,000 bonus points after initial $2500 spent within the 1st 3 months.

He dug it up finally, my account IS eligible for the 40,000 point promotion on $2500 spend in 90 days.

I got one with a limit of 8.5k. Is there a way to tell if it's a Signature Visa?

hchan221 02-02-2013 06:32 PM

I ended up getting the Giants one with 7.5K credit limit. I'm going to call on Monday to see if I got the 40k points promo.

Visa Sig card require a minimum of 5k credit limit and since you have been approved with 8.5K, am guessing it will be definitely be Visa Sig card.

salmon515151 02-02-2013 06:50 PM

So is the consensus that if you sign up for the mastercard one you can get the 40k bonus points, but if you sign up for the visa one and aren't approved for the signature you won't get the 40k points?

imjosh 02-02-2013 07:05 PM

Someone better at computers than me can probably find some other 400/1000 offers using some sort of a script. I found these ones just by changing the last 2 digits, I went from 00-99. A few other NFL offers popped up but said they were expired. Strange, but the http://dolphinsextrapoints.com/XXXXX seems to lead to a ton of different offers (mostly all expired or dead links though). It would be cool to see what we could find if someone had a way to sweep through them all, from 0000 to 9999.

Call CS and see what they say.
So far people in this thread who have been approved for Platinum that have called were told they'd get the 40k/$2500 deal.

On the credit card application, you will see on the very top page.

Please read the Terms and Conditions [barclaycardus.com] for important information about rates, fees and other costs before applying.

From there, click the "Terms and Conditions " and perform a CTRL + F. Copy and paste this text down and you will see it.

Forty thousand (40,000) Bonus Points will be awarded after at least $1000.00 in Net Purchases (that are not later returned or rescinded) in the first 90 days after account opening. Bonus Points will be posted at the close of your first billing statement after an initial qualifying purchase or balance transfer is made. Balance Transfer Checks do not qualify for bonus points.

Approved for 3,500 Dallas Cowboys Matercard. After regerstering online and clicking on rewards tab/promotion it says 1,000 bonus, but I called customer service and was confirmed to have 40,000 offer by agent. All good according to rep.

FYI best way to redeem your rewards would be to make a charge of exactly $425 somewhere in the process of spending your $2500, as $2500 spending will net you 2500 points.

iBoo 02-02-2013 08:08 PM

is there a master card available for $1000 requirement for $400.

St0ry 02-02-2013 08:12 PM

Hopefully someone can give a definitive answer: if I signed up for the NFL Mastercard promo a few months back am I still eligible for this Visa promo?

yes

I apply for VISA and it said on the wiki, I can apply for MASTERCARD.

Vise versa.

krazeenyc 02-02-2013 08:18 PM

the WIKI says you can apply -- if you have a barclays mastercard, but is this in writing anywhere?

dealhasluredme 02-02-2013 08:18 PM

Just a bit off topic, but since this thread is popular right now I thought I'd ask. For anyone that signed up for the previous Barclay's NFL card offer a few months ago for $400/$1000 spend, did you ever try loading money onto your Serve card? I'm wondering if they'd charge a fee for it being a cash advance. Yes I know about Amazon Payments, but since this is $2500 spend an additional option could certainly help meet that, and sooner to get the rewards, since AP is $1000 per month. Any experience on that would be appreciated, thanks.

9684 but both require last name and promo ID

Unless you've got a big purchase in mind already for the card, a 16% discount (400/2500) is hardly worth the credit check hit and adding yet another card to a growing pile.

Yeah I checked all in the 9400 range. If you were able to check all in the 9XXX range that quickly you may want to try things like cowboysextrapoints.com/9XXX, or other team names, to see if there are other redirects.

Since the card earns 1% cashback on all purchases, spending $2500 will earn you another 2500 points which, combined with the 40,000 bonus points can be used to pay off a $425 purchase in the form of a statement credit. People have had trouble using their full points up to pay for purchases that weren't in multiples of $25, so this works out well.

Eagles89 02-02-2013 08:29 PM

I called them and they said 40k point bonus applies to Visa platinum as well.

Well, it's in the terms. Only reason I don't see why it wouldn't is if the app is actually expired. In that case, I don't think your credit report will be pulled anyways.

I don't think that's how it works, but I could be wrong. I think you start earning points after the 2.5k spend, then it's a one for one deal.

You earn points from the get-go. When I did the $200 after first purchase off back in Feb. of last year, I just made one purchase of $202 and was able to use my $20000 bonus points plus the 200 points I earned from my $202 purchase (actually earned 202 points - but they round up [i.e. if I made a $202.02 purchase I would need 20300 points to get the statement credit])

Can someone post a PDF of the terms and conditions saying 40000 points after spending $1k? May be $2500 guys can ask if they would match.. Not a big deal, but would be nice if they do..

Same here. I actually applied and got the Bengals card for 400/2500, and a Bengals link was just posted in this thread for 400/1000. D'oh. Since it's same card, I called and asked if they could change the welcome bonus. They told me they couldn't, and that I can just re-apply for the different card ::lmao:.

Anyway, my fiancee balked at applying for one of these today because even with AP there's no way we could hit $5,000 spend in 90 days. But now I bet she will be able to apply for the 400/1000 offer. That is more manageable, I think.

Updated the OP with the 3 links for $400/$1000
If you find more teams post them in the Wiki and I'll update the OP again.

Also removed the expiration date since that was for the street team Mask promo and removed the comment about Visa Signature required since it appears that isn't the case.

When I use Falcon, on the application page it doesn't say anything about the promotion: spend 1000 and get $400, is that how it should be?

Click the link at the bottom and read the Terms.
