CONTINUOUS PROTECTION

Continuous Protection provided by Bitdefender will keep your computer protected from latest viruses and Internet threats by Automatically Renewing your subscription at the then-current renewal price plus applicable tax. You will be notified by email about renewal prior to the expiration of your subscription. To disable Continuous Protection renewal at any time, you can contact our Customer Care, or get more information click here.

Cancel Auto-renew
OP's instructions for canceling auto-renew are for PayPal's auto-bill feature. If you paid with PayPal that is how you would disable it. However if you paid with a credit card you have to cancel through avangate. From their FAQ:
Quote:

When choosing to make subscription payments for licenses, you will be informed at the end of the subscription about the amount that will be subtracted from your account. You can stop the payments simply by logging in to Avangate myAccount, going to "My Products" area and by clicking "Stop automatic license renewal" beneath each product that has this option enabled.

Dont forget to cancel pre-authorization in your paypal preferences for a Avangate BV so you wont get future billing from them.

This is MUCH better. BitDefender is on a whole different level than Avast, Avira and AVG.

BitDefender is like Kaspersky (actually better in detection, according to most tests).. but it's lighter than Kaspersky.

Bitdefender Internet Security is consistently ranked as a Top 3 product, if not the #1. Do a Google search for "top ten internet security" and see for yourself. Furthermore, just the antivirus portion of this product alone is superior to the three FREE AV's that you mentioned.

- Don't know why cats would buy 10 codes. You'd think that the codes would be attached to the 2013 product and upgrades wouldn't be valid without a purchase of something newer. I mean I tried installing an older Norton and it basically gave me the finger when I wanted to upgrade to whatever version they had for the year we were in. But I guess spending $1.30 to roll the dice isn't bad.
All I know is I'm going to hand these out as gifts. People will think I spent $50 bones. Waaaahhhh!

If you click the link for more information regarding the auto renew at the bottom of the order page, you can uncheck auto renew and still only pay 13 cents per year.

If you check PayPal after doing an order this way, Avangate BV won't be listed at all under the auto pay/subscription section.

Don't see why not. Tell him to run a promotion for free internet security, normally a $50 value. Guess you can sell the codes when the deal is dead. That's what people are doing now on ebay to the savvy shopper.

They will last forever as long as they are unactivated but you can only use these keys on the 2013 version. So if you plan on using these keys for 10 years, you will be using an outdated version. I guess using a 2013 version program in 2014 is okay. However, using a 2013 version in 2023 would be a bad idea. Also you should keep the install file on your comp because they will remove the download link next year.

I guess using a 2013 version program in 2014 is okay. However, using a 2013 version in 2023 would be a bad idea. Also you should keep the install file on your comp because they will remove the download link next year.

Thanks again. I was wondering if we could stretch this into a 2-3 year freebie, by just keeping the 2013 version a year or two longer. I am not sure if I'd want to go past 2 years or so, because as you say, it may be a bad idea by then.

I got 2 keys, which I may just spread out over the next two years, or use on an extra computer or two in the household. I am undecided if I want to use it instead of Avira on my desktop here, as sometimes it's a pain when switching antivirus programs ... it's like they leech into the computer's deep innards and it involves some intensive operation to get them fully un-installed sometimes.

"DO NOT BITE!

DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD OR BANK INFO! BitDefender automatically sets customers on Auto-Pay. When you decide to drop them, you will have to contact multiple outsourced/overseas phone numbers and spend hours on the phone trying to get them to take you off of autopay and refund the overcharges. They will also entice you to accept special offers to renew. When you do, you will be double-charged - because you were already on auto-pay (by default). They will not reply to your online requests either.

Looks like this price can be different basing on the State you pick up during address input. For MN this price shoots up from $0.13 to $49.95.
Tried clearing cookies, temp internet files, using different browsers like Firefox, Chrome - no luck.

If I change to CA I can see it $0.13 though.

This is why a smart SD'er will always keep a prepaid visa card around, perhaps from a recent payment on a rebate. Problem solved.

SD'ers that are slightly less than intelligent keep prepaid visa cards. The smart SD'ers have credit cards that are able to generate virtual credit card numbers.

AznCracker 02-02-2013 11:51 AM

For those selling this on ebay. If the buyers choose to auto renew, you will eat the bill lol. Unless you use a prepaid card, that won't be a problem. Prices are going down fast though so its probably not worth it. $3.50 atm

Go to your profile and select My Money. Then go to pre-approved payments and cancel Avangate BV. This will prevent them from charging you again.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat with Avira. I think for my main computer, I'll just stick with Avira and play it safe .... it's been running fine, no issues at all, and no viruses.

For .26 I did get two keys, but I have spare computers here I can put them on if I want. One of them seems to be a virus/malware magnet, so maybe it'll clean it up.

Yes, it's already up and running. But what I'm saying is, let's say next year I reformat my PC, and want to reinstall, will this small installer still work, or would I need a full installer (which I don't have)?

Huh? You said you paid via Paypal. As part of the transaction, many retailers create a billing agreement between you and them on your Paypal account. This is essentially a preauthorization to charge your Paypal account when and if they deem necessary (i.e., their discretion). You're agreeing to it implicitly when you complete the transaction, but most ppl don't realize it. But an unscrupulous company good use that billing agreement to charge your account w/o notice. That's why I always go over to my Paypal account after using it to make sure there was no billing agreement created, and if there is one, cancel it.

This small installer requires you to download the program from their server. So if they remove the download, it might not work anymore. I cant seem to find a full installer anywhere.

I was wondering about that too, for those with multiple keys.

In 2014+ it may be impossible to use the extra keys, if it requires a re-install of the program, even if you downloaded their little installer now for safekeeping.

Maybe it showed up for me as I have a canadian IP, but try to open the OP's link in a new Chrome window using Incognito, and before you do anything, see if there's the option on the right upper corner to change the currency.

Damn, i missed it during payment. I removed pre authorization on paypal. Hopefully that does the job

Thanks OP! Got 20 licenses for $2.60. In the past, I bought the 3 AV version (more lightweight) licenses and they don't expired; each year I just update the key and it works again. I prefer ESET because it's not a resource hog but for this price, I'll just give them away to family and friends.

Thanks for the PayPal tip of disabling preapproved payment; I saw a bunch of authorizations from past purchases that were still active so I disabled them :)

EDIT: By the way, I'm not sure how other PayPalers are getting to the area where they disable the preapproved payment but here how I navigate to it:

1) Log into PayPal
2) Click Settings tab
3) Click Payment Preferences on left
4) Click update on My preapproved payments on right
5) Click on indivdual merchant to cancel the Active preapproved payment for that merchant

Thanks. I disabled the check box for auto-renew during checkout so don't see it under "My preapproved payments" but can keep an eye on it now.

Placed the order an hour ago and got the Confirmation Page. Still no email. Anyone else having this problem?

AznCracker 02-02-2013 12:40 PM

Ok to disable auto renewal go to the email they sent you. In the email, there should be a link to a company called "Advantage". They manage the subscriptions for Bitdefender. Make an account with them and enter in your info. Then disable auto renewal.

In the Avangate store (bottom link of your receipt info https://store.bitdefender.com/mya...l)/(unique link)) You can also disable autorenew from this link.

It lists the expiration as 1 year from now. Not sure you'll be able to use them later on, might just be an automatic thing assuming you have already activated the codes, but they do list them all there.

ndno 02-02-2013 12:42 PM

I already disabled preapproved payment for future renewal at PayPal.

For those who didn't uncheck auto license renewal during payment checkout,
I finally figured out to disable auto license renewal:

1) When you order, you should have received the license keys in the email; look at the bottom of that email and there's a link that says

Quote:

To get further payment support for your purchase, please sign-up using your email address xxxxxxxxx@xxx.com to Avangate myAccount at https://store.bitdefender.com/mya...2cd88f00b8.
With Avangate myAccount you can:

* View order details and keep track of your online orders status
* Gain instant access to your online shopping history
* Re-download license keys/codes* and download invoices
* Manage your subscription payments (auto-renewal), if your product supports such an option.
* Renew the license of the purchased software when it expires
* Find support contact details such as phone and email addresses of software publishers
* Download the installation files of the purchased software (if Download Insurance was also purchased with your product)
Click on that link to create an account at their site so you can look up your order.
2) After you create the account and log in, you will see your order. Click on My Products tab
3) In the middle of that page, you will see your Subscription status, just click on Stop automatic license renewal. That's it!

Looks like the key only works on 2013 version. No point buying 10+ key.

yevomega 02-02-2013 12:44 PM

Is this resellable?

Namelessme 02-02-2013 12:44 PM

I was about to post the link to Avangate, but see others have just done so.

Look under exp. dates... it does list the product expiring in one year, and I haven't activated my code yet. Hmm... maybe not so good for those with several codes.

Never use a debit card online! Debit cards go directly against your checking account and leave you more vulnerable to fraud. Use either Paypal, prepaid visa, or visa w/ virtual credit card numbers instead.

Nomad_ 02-02-2013 12:50 PM

Dead? I was just charged 13.20 EUR

Why take the chance ?

I will do a test to see how this goes. The one I installed today shows 365 days left, I will wait a few days and install a new key on another computer, and see if it shows 365, or the same amount as the computer that was installed today. Then we will know for sure :)

True, might as well disable it there too.

Just wondering if it is even possible for a company to charge if you disabled the subscription in paypal... I'd think not.

shyam09 02-02-2013 12:54 PM

$2.75 on fleabay.. with a net profit of $1.44 (per key sold)
lol guess I'll have to do something different then
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bitdefend...2a28d5614d

I don't think Paypal would want to take that risk :shake:

trulaker9 02-02-2013 12:55 PM

Lol......fleabay has been inundated!

Spartan87 02-02-2013 12:55 PM

Bitdefender crashes your system...Had it and had nothing but problems. Free Avast or AVG are much better options

IDk12 02-02-2013 12:55 PM

Next billing amount: 1,148.85 USD (VAT/other taxes included). Thanks bitdefender.

That's the reason more to disable automatic license renewal anywhere possible ;)

thiennhu 02-02-2013 12:58 PM

The license bought here only work for PC doesn't not work for Android or iOS apps. Wish I learned that before buying so many keys for all my phones and tablets.

People are selling for 99 cents buy it now.
So 99 - 13 = 86 cents minus commissions is about 6o cent profit.
Wow. Times must be tight !:eek::eek:

InEvX 02-02-2013 01:00 PM

Yeah I don't think I'd go to the trouble of getting a warning on my eBay account or banned just for $14.40 profit. Digital delivery of goods isn't allowed on eBay and if someone reports the listing you will get flagged.

beta. 02-02-2013 01:02 PM

i went to the avangtage website and says my subscription ends on February 2nd 2014. if i cant put the 140 keys i biught to use by then, will they expire?

Bobby_Pro 02-02-2013 01:07 PM

BitDefender: "When Microsoft can sell the $199 windows pro for $40, so can we"

This trend is great. Thumbs up!

Thank you. I didn't know this. I did what you said and found a couple other things I had supposedly authorized (unknowingly) to renew and I cancelled them. Repped!
