$15 coupon is given when making a new account for macy's site. Its shown on the screen when you are finished registering and its also emailed to you.

A highly detailed review that also contrasts to the 8004 and the Breville and has several informative videos:
http://www.squidoo.com/omega-8006...er-reviews
Many other reviews on amazon, some quite detailed (has a 4.5 star average with almost 500 reviews)
http://www.amazon.com/Omega-J8006...B001L7OIVI

This is a masticating juicer which ejects almost dry pulp. Its not the same as a blendtec/vitamix and serves a different purpose.

This model has a 15 year warranty

For some reason the wiki disappeared when this hit front page so I tried to put some of the info I remember back into it.

Here is the manual link [qvc.com] and this is the recipe link [qvc.com]

Deal is still somewhat alive. I was able to get the live chat agent to honor the 8006 price for the 8004 (exact same functionality and warranty, different color). YMMV. post

tekimt 02-03-2013 11:24 AM

very nice find

hachi 02-03-2013 11:28 AM

we got one when it went on sale in dec. still love and use it! good price!

treoguy 02-03-2013 11:30 AM

Macy's cancelled my order three times last go around (jan 1). I'm in for one and hoping they come through this time.

faiz_23 02-03-2013 11:33 AM

Picked up couple on the omega GMA 50% off sale. I got the 8004 which is the plain white model instead of the stainless color. The stainless is not actual stainless steel but plastic that is in the stainless color. They have a great 15yr warranty and 10yr on the vrt series. I got the 330hd and the 8004 for both half off around $189(VRT) and $129(8004). I prefer the 8004/8006 series since it is easy to clean and break down. Both are great products for lifestyle changes and come with long time warranty compared to competition. I ended up selling the vrt 330hd with extra regular screen from omega due to shipping the wrong screen all on ebay for $330. Took care of the cost of my own personal omega 8004. You will need to spend time in prepping and cutting the fruits and vegetables down to a size that can be easy to process for the machine. Masticating has great benefits compared to centrifugal.

They cancelled my order last time; hopefully it goes through this time

_Slick_ 02-03-2013 11:41 AM

Good Deal

I got one, awesome juicer! Easy to clean, quiet, yields more juice than an average juicer product. You're gonna love it!

Barcafan 02-03-2013 11:53 AM

There doesn't appear to be any difference between the 8004 and 8006, other than color (and price). Anything I'm missing?

EDIT: Looks like the 8006 has a 15-year warranty, vs. 10-years for the 8004. I guess that's something.

poopsnack 02-03-2013 11:58 AM

the difference is the auger. the 8006 has a MUCH stronger one (8 times, I believe) so the warranty goes from 10 years on the 8004 to 15 years on the 8006. I bought the 8006, thought it was a no brainer. love it.

dapoopta 02-03-2013 12:02 PM

I had a juicer... Then I got a vitamix. Now I don't have a juicer. Blend 4 life!!

Thanks OP! Could you please also edit the title or add that tax applies in most of the states.

In order to make this deal even more sweeter please register a new account with Macy's (could be YMMV) and they will email you new account confirmation ALONG with $15 one-time-use coupon, with taxes and with additional coupon my total was $ 212.30, including $17.31 tax. Still a good deal!

Repped.

They have the same auger and the same warranty. There are misprints on some websites. Only difference is color.

Nope, they're the same everything, including warranty. That info may be outdated. It's only the silver color that differs the 8006 from the 8004.

Thanks for your note but I think we all know macy's have tax in most states

ursus 02-03-2013 12:30 PM

We all know, but the title is misleading, meaning that 209 is not final price in most of the states.

It is fine as it is, thank you. Great deal and good catch. Loved the feedback on this one and really wanted to get it, but always too price, so I went for Breville or whatever is the name.

I have a vitamix.
How is a juicer different from vitamix.

poopsnack 02-03-2013 12:49 PM

Yeah... My bad. The 8004 is the same thing as the 8006. It is the 8005 I was thinking of. I was confused.

Yes, it is. Are juices better in juicer than a vitamix

poopsnack 02-03-2013 12:52 PM

I have a vitamix as well. Just made some killer 'ice cream' in it - two frozen bananas, a scoop of peanut butter, and some cocoa or hersheys syrup. So good.
Juicing is different, because you strip to food down to the juice, and leave out all the solids (fiber). Excellent for just getting the nutrients. There is a time and a place for both an omega and a vitamix in my kitchen. I like the vitamix more, for sure.

kettyserene 02-03-2013 12:54 PM

Woohoo! $195 after the $15 off $100 for signing up with a new Macy's account and no sales tax (DE). 5% CB with Discover, too. XD *fingers crossed*

Almost 2 different thing...blending to smoothie then you have to strained it out....8006 just masticating and only juice/liquid come out..

kettyserene 02-03-2013 12:57 PM

I plan to use my juicer to juice sugar cane, citrus (lemons and limes for lemonade), and make soy milk. All those things can't be done with a Vitamix I don't think because you wouldn't want those things to be sludgy.

i was going to get a juicer as well as having our blendtec (used to have a vitamix) - but essentially not enough of a difference (for us) to have both. if we had more space i'd probably get a juicer as well - it's just the space issue and happy enough with having the blender.

new to juicer, can anyone please tell me if this juicer can homogenize vege&fruits we put in without have lots of extracts left. Saw Youtube, people use the extracts to bake cakes. If we don;t use the extracts, which we will waste lots of vegetables and fruits. Am I right?

I have a Vitamix. Is it worth trying a juicer? Some things can have too much pulp. I suppose I could get a strainer and avoid the cleaning hassle of the juicer.

You will get varying amounts of pulp depending on the original water content. The pulp is mostly fiber. If you are just trying to get the nutrients, juicing is not wasteful.

Vitamix is used for smoothies..i've made soup in it before

VRT330HD is for green juices..my own apple juice or any other commercially made juice but your in control...basically when you just don't want fiber

You can juice to some degree in the Vitamix and use a nut milk bag or similiar product to strain the juice from the fiber

Thanks for your reply whick makes good sense! Probably i need to buy a very good blender...

Here's a link [some-like-it-raw.com] to a good article about the differences between juicing and blending (i.e. Vitamix). Both have their pro's and con's and which one you should get is relative to your wants and needs.

This forum seems to be turning into a Vitamix vs. juicer debate. That's kind of silly. Each has it's advantages and disadvantages. That said, this is a great deal on the Omega 8006 slow juicer, which is one of the better masticating juicers in this price range. Masticating juicers are better than the less expensive centrifuge juicers (i.e. Breville) because you get a lot more juice from fruits and vegetables and they don't produce as much heat so the juice doesn't oxidize as fast and the enzymes aren't compromised.

I dumped my juicer for a vitamix. better to keep the fiber so you dont get sugar spikes. there's a reason why it's in the food in the first place.

The description for the juicer is just plain.... wrong!

"Have a healthy start to every day! Operating at a lower speed, this single gear juice extractor minimizes heat build-up to maximize oxidation."

This juicer minimizes heat build-up to MINIMIZE oxidation, not maximize. Oh the stupidity...

This Omega is considered better. The Breville is a centrifugal juicer, this Omega is a masticating juicer. Masticating juicers yield more juice from the veggies & fruits and they produce less heat & less oxidation of the juice so enzymes aren't compromised, which means healthier and longer lasting juice.

Picked one up in the last sale. Totally love it. 15-year warranty and insanely easy to clean. There are like 5 pieces that disassemble in 10 seconds.

Takes a while to chop up all the fruits/veggies to fit into the chute, but it produces some incredible pulp-free juice.

You can also make peanut butter, coconut cream, and pasta.

I dumped my juicer for a vitamix. better to keep the fiber so you dont get sugar spikes. there's a reason why it's in the food in the first place.

ignorance is bliss...you are comparing apples to oranges

8004/8006 are the exact same thing with beefed up auger and that is why they have 15yr warranty

8003/8005 are the exact same thing with a weaker auger and 10 yr warranty,

You can buy the 8003/8005 and upgrade the auger to get the same build quality but warranty will be 5 yr difference.

The stainless is not stainless steel but plastic that is colored. Omega has customer service in Florida and are a pleasure to deal with. They will gladly make anything right and let you keep the extras. During the GMA promotion they mailed out a ton of vrt 330 when people ordered vrt 330hd which has upgraded juicing screen. Omega mailed out the HD screen and let everyone keep the original screen as backup. I would stack the codes, and cash-back to come out ahead. Watch out the fruits and veggies can get $$$pricey$$$

YUP, $130 and no tax for most everyone. Easiest deal with no codes required and everyone that wanted one was able to get it for the most part. Omega took a while to ship out since they sold way more than they expected thanks to slickdeals but in the end they honored most orders for 2 or less machines. When you went over 2 machines. They did not like that and cancelled everything lolz.

Are they the same thing? ( 8006 vs J8006)

They are 2 seperate products on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Omega-8006-...ega+juicer

http://www.amazon.com/Omega-J8006...ega+juicer

I don't believe there's a difference, just a failure to properly label things. Also, there's separate products pages for many things on amazon that are the exact same thing. Its just that one company either doesn't know how to label its stuff and match it to an existing item in a category, or specifically on purpose wants it listed as a different item to try and attract sales from searches to their specific company at the expense of others. You end up with things like that when you have listings for a huge percentage of consumer goods sold.

Looking at this particular example you'll notice that on that one listing, its only 1 company that's listed to get it from, they are higher priced, they don't offer prime, and they've chosen a picture thats at the opposite angle to try and distinguish the listing.

Edit: Looking again, it looks like that one company is including a wheatgrass grow kit with trays and soil and seeds. So if thats worth an extra $30+ to you, thats why its a separate listing in this case.

Found a quite useful review [squidoo.com].
Also discountjuicers [discountjuicers.com] has quite a bit of info as well.

Neo42 02-03-2013 11:01 PM

Taking the dive on this. Have a coworker that juices with this exact model, constantly raving about it all. He uses it to naturally treat Crohn's and for general nutrition benefit. I've tried a couple of his concoctions and will tell you first hand that they pack quite a punch.

If you are worried about blood sugar, just try to avoid using a lot of fruit. Also keep in mind that fruit is still more forgiving than processed sugars, which are frequently added to store bought fruit juices. Vegetables and leafy greens are generally going to provide a better ratio of nutrients anyway.

2p1o 02-03-2013 11:27 PM

I never get this. I see things with stuff like grape juice (which is sweet and has lots of sugar) added to a juice or fruit item, then they ALSO add sugar. I was looking at the back of a bag of frozen sweet cherries today, and it had a smoothie recipe that asked you to add sugar in addition to the cherries. I ended up making my own thing, I threw some frozen cherries, strawberries, and pineapple (along with a 100% fruit juice blend from costco), and it was delicious. And very sweet.

wrong again.

you take the pulp from the omega and throw it into the Vitamix then add it to the Omega made juice.

the Vitamix will give you LESS health benefits than doing this.

it it all depends on what you are juicing.

dream on!

Try putting kale in your vitamix, and then try it in a juicer. Report to us on the difference.

We bought an 8004 and there's a 15 year warranty. Actually, my auger started to wear down and show signs of scratches (no clue how since we only use vegetables). I emailed Omega and they asked me to take a picture of it. The lady said they're going to send me a new auger as well as a new screen. Great service.

I got in on that deal last spring. Awesome deal. $130 for the 8004. We use it a few times a week and we love it! Great way to incorporate different vegetables in your diet (red chard, collard greens, kale, ginger).

treoguy 02-04-2013 06:41 AM

Ordered a second one for my mother who has Crohn's disease. From what I've read, a number of those dealing with this disease are using juicing to combat it. Like others in the thread, this one ships within 33 days. Odd number.

Can anyone recommend a good book for juice recipes? Does it come with a recipe book?

Definitely the biggest difference between a juicer and a blender is the pulp factor. Without the pulp in the juice, your body is able to digest the juice much easier. However, I've read it's possible to get diabetes from the sugar spikes. An easy fix to this is not to juice fruits (which this machine isn't really intended to do in the first place) and juice primarily greens. When we juice, the majority of our juice comes from vegetable greens (kale, spinach, red or green chard, collard greens, etc). Also, greens are considered to be the healthiest of veggies, so it's a win win. We'll also throw a beet in once in a while, but if it's a large beet, we'll only throw in half. Beets and carrots have a lot of sugar, so try not to rely on these too much.

joker999 02-04-2013 07:01 AM

Doa, I just got the 8004, it was still for like $219 or something a great price. Had some Amazon GC from Xmas and I used all Xmas money so really I'm not pissed, I woulda just had more left over money for delicious veggies to juice. This (as 8004 and 8006 are the same just color difference) does an amazing job, I tried it out the first time yesterday and man such tasty juice. I'm hoping this coming weekend to try some sorbet and nut butters.

DLP600 02-04-2013 07:51 AM

Just ordered one. Ships in 33 business days!

darkshin 02-04-2013 08:01 AM

Great juicer

Awesome juicer. And it excels where others are a pain... It's easy to clean. We use the heck out of it. Just don't juice things that have a a thick juice to them. Squash and regular spinach juice fine, but stay away Malabar spinach it;ll clog up the machine and what you get out of it is like snot. :vomit:

I did that juice detox thing with my juicer... Made the "mean green". I made the same type of drug in my blender. Very similar texture and also kale tastes like crap... Juiced, blended, or toasted.

I will start with, this CAN be a great juicer. I purchased this juicer and accidentally started it before putting anything in it and noticed an intermittent grinding sound correlated to the auger turning. I let it run a few seconds and took it apart to find ground up plastic from the auger in the screen. After some detective work, I noticed that the leading edge of the screen (the edge towards the body) was raised above the plastic so that every time the auger rode up the edge, it ground off a bit more.

I called Omega and they were very quick to send out both the auger and screen. The only problem is that the new screen has the same problem. I emailed them again and told them about the second screen, and I have yet to hear back from them after a week. Since they didn't ask for my old one back, I took my Dremel tool to the screen and rounded off the sharp edges until my fingernail no longer caught when rubbing across it. Now I can run it dry with no apparent plastic getting worn off.

This is a very bad manufacturing control problem that I hope they fix quickly. Frankly, they should stop shipping these until they get this issue fixed. IF they fix this I would give it 5 stars gladly.

All that said and done, I love my juicer now, it is quick to make all kinds of juice and just as quick to clean up. I have had several other juicers, one cost almost twice this one, and this is by far the best once the screen was modified. The pulp comes out very dry compared to any other juicer I have owned or used so I am getting more for my organic dollars these days!

Anyone who owns this juicer has any input on this matter?

I agree.... unless your PRIMARY use is for making nut butters. Omega's are simply much better at making nut butters.

However, if your primary use is for getting nutrients out of fruit, vegetables, grasses, etc.... blending is much much better idea, imo.

EdMcK515 02-04-2013 10:23 AM

Anybody know if Macy's charges when you order or when you ship? I'd hate to have a $200 plus charge now with a 33 day wait on the order.

oohlala888 02-04-2013 10:28 AM

My 2 cents.

I have both VRT350HD, and Oscar DA1000 (Asian version of Omega 8006 with adjustable drumcap)

- The DA1000 is way easier & faster to clean. However, it takes more time to prep your fruits & vegetables as the chute is about 1/2 the size of VRT350HD.

- Juice from DA1000 has less pulp.

- Extracted pulp from DA1000 is drier.

- You can make peanut butter, and some kind of sorbet (put frozen & prepped fruit through supplied blank plate) with DA1000. VRT350HD can't.

- VRT350HD juice fruits & vegetables much faster than DA1000.

Since it's heavily discounted here, I'm getting one for my folks. (They love DA1000 so much.)

Thanks SD!

I have an Oscar DA1000, which is from the same factory in South Korea, and using the same parts except for adjustable drumcap.
The screen towards the body is flushed and never grind the edge of the auger.

The problem that reviewer experience could have caused by a bad batch, misue, or something else. But given my excellent experience with DA1000, I wouldn't hesitate pulling a trigger on this deal.

fleeb99 02-04-2013 11:59 AM

I got in back in December. So far LOVE IT!

Pros: Does leafy greens like a champ, ease of clean up, you feel your body absorb the juice quickly, obviously health.

Cons: Apples yield more mush than juice

I had (borrowed) a Breville Ikon before this juicer. I prefer this one over the Breville because I juice more greens. Even though it's not big of a deal, I was a bit bummed with the apples. You'll get better results if you use apples that aren't as grainy(?). Different apples, different results.

I also own a Vitamix, I think it's stupid when people try to compare juicing to blending. I do use the Vitamix more days than the juicer, probably about 60/40 weekly, but I wouldn't switch to just one process completely. You're comparing apples to oranges. If you can swing it, get both!

A lot of people do not want to spend money on both which is why people are comparing the value of each based on your expected use.

Call Macy's directly and order it from the phone because the representative can still take the order. YMMV.

FeedMeAlmonds 02-04-2013 01:34 PM

I have the 8006, it's easily our most used kitchen appliance. One of the things that makes this unit so great besides how quickly and easy it is to clean is how well it handles greens. Don't like eating kale or leafs? Then just juice them, add some carrots and an orange or grapefruit and you've got a tasty vitamin and mineral power drink. A glass of this stuff gives me more energy than coffee.

FMA approved.

scarr2k 02-04-2013 04:16 PM

Also the 8004 is the same as the 8006 just in white. Although Macy's is charging $30 more for this one so by the time you factor tax you are not much cheaper than amazon's everyday price.

crafty33 02-04-2013 04:29 PM

EdMcK515 02-04-2013 06:51 PM

Okay, I was just going to bite the bullet and order the 8004 for $30 more (actually $18 more, once you factor in the 40% off), since now I have $200 in macy's gift cards. As I was going through the checkout, a window popped up for the live chat. I opened a window up and tried my sob story about the 8006 being out of stock and the 8004 being the same juicer (features, 15 year warranty), but in white instead of chrome. He initially resisted saying since it was discounted he couldn't do it, but I pointed out that both juicers were part of the same sale, he went through and manually adjusted the sale price to match the 8006. I also was able to get the $15 signup coupon applied. So I got the white juicier for $193.79 + $11.63 tax = $205.42 total.

I got the gift cards for 10% off at card pool, so my OOP total is $184.88. I got a 3-6 day estimated shipping time.

While I would have preferred the chrome one, I'm happy at the price I got it, and that I'll be getting the juicer either this week or next week, rather than waiting a month.

My chat agent was Angelo. YMMV, as if there is a flood of orders trying the same thing they might start shooting it down, but its worth a shot to get essentially the same juicer, albeit a different color. Good luck everyone.

This is one reason why its generally better to use a credit card for online purchases, especially for SDs that could get canceled. Temporary holds reduce total credit slightly, but you never have to pay for them, compared to a debit card where the money you own is made unavailable for the duration of the hold. Unexpected holds on debit cards also have the fun potential of starting a nasty spiral of bounced checks and overdraft fees, and really screwing over one's credit score.

Feel free to complain, but it likely won't accomplish anything, and you are likely to get sent in circles between your bank and their customer service (and never to who is probably at fault, their merchant processor), and after wasting a lot of your time, it will probably just expire on its own without anyone having done anything.

Got the order in before it made frontpage - around 5:45pm EST on Sunday, 2/3. Original expected ship date was 2/6 so it wasn't one of the late-March estimates that others are getting.

Ordered one yesterday morning. I hope this ships. Anyone else's order get cancelled?

Merchandise total $178.49

Could anyone getting a cancellation notice please post what day/time +timezone you placed the order? Check the email you got from Macys. I haven't received a cancellation yet, I ordered mine 8:52PM EST on Sunday evening.

Can anyone recommend a good book for juice recipes? Does it come with a recipe book?

My coworker w/ Crohn's brought this book to the office, seems very comprehensive:

Interesting, because I ordered at about 3:30pm pst on 2/3 (1.5 hours after yours) and mine hasn't been canceled.

How many did you order?

marcg611 02-05-2013 07:27 PM

bought a 9006 just last week for a great price of 239.99 +tax at BB &B with 20% off coupon... Today had them price match to $209 and refund the difference! BTW its pretty nice! Does leafy greens the best! Not great at tomatoes but those should be blended anyway..

i only bought one- i'm not sure why mine was canceled but other orders placed after went through. argh! 've been searching months, too!

Darthkim 02-06-2013 10:37 AM

I find it odd that you can buy the 8006 today and it will ship in 3 days, while ours are pushed out nearly 60 days. Where are they getting this inventory?

If you proceed to checkout you will see it gets corrected to 33 days. :D

Edit: That's what it said yesterday. Now it says it will ship in two days. I am going to try to have them price match my other order.

Aaron007 02-06-2013 12:56 PM

I was able to match the price of my existing order and here are the steps I did:

1) Order the jucier at regular price.
2) Call within 1 hour of order and speak to rep about matching the price of your existing order.
3) The recent order as it is coming from different warehouse will ship in two days.
4) ???
5) Profit!

Sweet! Thanks for the headsup.

Because I checked after reading that and instead of 3/20 it says:

item(s) shipped on: 02/07/2013

skidaddy27 02-08-2013 05:37 AM

shipped and on its way...thanks OP

EdMcK515 02-08-2013 08:34 AM

Mine got delivered this morning. Already made some carrot juice and some orange juice. Both turned out delicious, high juice yield, cleaning couldn't be easier (unless it did it itself). Definitely looking forward to trying out the fancier recipes out there, I just wanted to try the single item juices and see how they taste.

Already happy with my purchase.

Just got off the phone and was told any back orders and any new orders wont ship till 2/28 so they had me leave my back order in place so I don't get bumped down the line with a new order.

That may be what their system is telling them, or they just made up something to get rid of you, but its not necessarily correct. See the above replies (including mine) where orders that had 30+ days back order are starting to ship NOW.

monster37 02-08-2013 02:50 PM

my order was canceled a few days ago so i called macy's today when i saw that they were back in stock. they honored the sale price this weekend and says it'll ship on 2/28. let's hope it works this time. *crosses fingers*

macy's customer service phone tip: you have to listen to them recite the menu three times before the option to speak to an operator is made available. kind of annoying but both representatives were extremely helpful when i finally got through.

I was able to cancel older order and re-order, price match. What would we do without slickdeals AND slickDEALERS. Thanks Aaron and thanks everyone. Order shipped 2/8. ETA 2/14. Now got to get some organic veggies....

dealsandsteals 02-09-2013 12:04 AM

Canceled & reordered - will ship on or before 2/28. It's not instant, but better than the original 3/21 ship date.

Darthkim 02-11-2013 12:37 PM

Ordered early AM on 2/4, Juicer shipped today. Original ship date of 3/21/13.
I thought about cancelling and re-ordering but patience paid off.
Good luck, everyone else.

turbulent 02-13-2013 08:55 AM

i had an estimated 3/21 shipping, but like others have stated, i received an email that my juicer had shipped on 2/12

scheduled to arrive 2/14

dealsandsteals 02-13-2013 10:00 AM

Reordered, backorder changed to 2/28, just received today (2/13)

myselfdotcom 02-13-2013 01:31 PM

Been making some green mean juice..awesome. Clean is not that hard.. prepping take some time since the feeder is smaller

Devistater 02-13-2013 11:27 PM

Just got mine today! I'll try it out tomorrow probably

Seems like I read somewhere someone wanted to know how much power it takes to run the motor? The label on the bottom says its 150 watts.
