I guess this laptop would have sweet about 5 years ago, not so much now with the processing demands of today. It's decent, but not a great deal.

What generation i5? If it is first gen. it is basically the same thing as this deal spec-wise, maybe even his one has better performance.

For 90% of the population, this laptop's performance is plenty and more for what is needed in daily tasks.

$299 is not bad for an Ivy Bridge-based Pentium. It runs at 2.4GHz (no TB or HT) which should feel plenty fast. I think this is a pretty good deal if you need a laptop - I'd take this over any low end AMD APU.
