The same light is $1 cheaper at HF. It's on sale for $35 but there's the ever present HF 20% off coupon making it $28 and you get a free flashlight/multimeter/screwdriver set/tape measure/pair of gloves.

http://www.harborfreight.com/60-l...69643.html

Sunforce products are made by the same company that makes the solar products for HF.

vw3366 02-05-2013 09:45 AM

I have two of them installed, which I ordered from Costco in 10/12 for $70. it is pretty good. I just order 2 from Amazon again

flipboy25 02-05-2013 10:05 AM

Got one of these a couple months ago. First one died after 2 weeks. Replacement one is doing ok so far. At least Amazon is good with replacing it if you get a bad one.

adamant 02-05-2013 10:39 AM

I'll get one because you said so.

Edit: And because I want a security light on my unwired shed in the back yard.

mrnadir 02-05-2013 10:45 AM

crappy quality. bought one last week. plastic around screws have cracks. the batteries are not standard AA so expect replacing battery pack in 1 year unless you want to create your own battery pack by soldering etc.

aboyzz 02-05-2013 10:49 AM

how long does this motion detect light will last?

bluez434 02-05-2013 10:51 AM

in for 2.

slicksteals1109 02-05-2013 10:51 AM

Looks like junk! The light is very cool looking...looks more like a bug zapper

New_World 02-05-2013 10:52 AM

endlesscash 02-05-2013 10:55 AM

Not great quality, but hey, most only care about price, not quality.

BargainBob 02-05-2013 11:12 AM

So you need the sun out just to work this light? That makes no sense. Why would I need the light if the suns already out.

You got any more details on the 20% code or free items? Don't see the coupon codes on their website....

orangearrows 02-05-2013 11:13 AM

I got one 2 months back - works great. In for one more.

yurkinator 02-05-2013 11:14 AM

nmk 02-05-2013 11:16 AM

Any one knows how far you can place the solar panel apart from the light? In other words, how long is the wire/cord?

I get more 20%/free stuff coupons each week than I can use. There are at least 3 in every Sunday paper. One in the HF insert. One in the coupon insert. One on the backpage of the TV listing magazine. Also, there's one in most auto/motorcylce/science or pretty much any other "mens" oriented magazine. Also, if you sign up for their email, they will send them to you.

Considering some of the reviews, I think buying from HF is better than Amazon. Amazon has a 30 day return period, HF has 90 days.

thanks for the info... passed based on your "review"...

cant stand products that do not use standard and easily replaceable rechargeable batteries... bc often products come with crap rechargeables that do not last very long, I like to be able to replace them with some good quality ones and extend the use and life of the product...

CHeston 02-05-2013 11:28 AM

Solar... yeah it must emit about 2 lumens for about 2 minutes! Green energy! I'll bet this solar panel MFG cost was subsidized 90% by the tax payer which is the only reason they can sell it for a price someone would pay for it. I love the idea of "green" energy however most of the tech is just not feasible and completely worthless when you consider cost/benefit ratio at this point.

I thought it was because solar panels are ridiculously cheap to manufacture, as are the rest of the components in this device. These are actually $13 per piece when ordered from China. They are selling them at a 123% gross profit markup. Also, the federal government doesn't give subsidies to Chinese companies.

sundown 02-05-2013 12:16 PM

Dead says Sale: $49.99 now.

Mooper 02-05-2013 12:55 PM

For the long-haul, you want something with lithium batteries. The NiMh is decent, but lithium is better.

cool story, bro.

Slickone_ 02-06-2013 08:47 AM

I wouldn't expect the batteries in these to last very long. Just like the solar garden lights.

timtim2008 02-06-2013 08:00 PM

does anyone have one? how long does it really last? (light time) and battery life
