Thanks, OP. I ordered 9 of the GOLDTOE 4-pkg socks ($5.78) [kohls.com]to make it over $50 for free shipping after applying the 15% off code. It's a very good deal! Hubby is going to have enough supply of socks for two years. :)

If you return anything, you lose the Kohls cash now. Before, you could just get store credit and keep the Kohl's cash.

Previously you could buy things and even if you end up returning 1 or 2items, you can get the store credit and not lose KC. Now that they have changed their return policy on kohls cash, i have changed mine as well. I just return all the items in the receipt. I end up saving lot of money.. lol Quote:

No 30% codes this time? Bah!

Is this true?:omg:
When did they change the return policy? Quote:

Don't know if it is posted anywhere. but last time i tried returning an item in the store they mentioned this is the new policy. i thought the sales person was crazy, but the manager said the same, Looks like some other people have had the same experience - Bulldogpride08 and krayziejoe has mentioned the same.. |

there was no way to change it. Other than coming in without a receipt. |
if you return something that you used kohls cash on you can either return the item and get the same thing if needing a different size or you can return for something of the same exact regular price. for instance i bought a velour track set and original price on it was $40 each piece. i got it on sale for half price minus 30% and used my kohls cash. i went to return it for the same item different size and they didnt have anymore. so i just got something that was regular price of $40 no matter the sale price. even exchange, no hassle. ;)

The topic of Kohls cash is brought up periodically in the Kohls thread in deal talk. If you return something you purchased with Kohls cash you get a (MC) merchandise credit to use in the store or online. If you use your Kohls cash and then later return something that earned the Kohls cash, you lose the amount on your return. Example you purchased $50 earned $10 dollars in KC, and spend it, then return the original $50 item/items you will only receive $40 back. They closed the loophole that people were exploiting for years, where someone would make a big purchase to earn KC, then turn around and return all the items, keeping the free KC. |
I got like eight ties, cufflinks and a new belt for <$100 after 15% and Kohls cash. They might not be screaming deals, but I like their ties and $8 a pop is a steal. Needed them ASAP for a new job, so waiting wasn't really an option. Thanks OP.

amazing deals here I am probably heading to kohls later. thanks!

Clarification about kohls cash:
1. Buy 50. Get 10 KC. Return 5. Lose 10 KC? 2. Buy 70. Get 10 kc. Return 5. Anything happens to kc? 3. (Is this the new issue?). Get 10 kc on transaction1. Use it in trans 2 to buy 40 worth merchandise. Return 15 . Get 5 credit and lose 10 kc forever ? Sorry no $ in num. On phone. |

Does anyone know when will a 30% coupon be out?
|
Does the promo code apply to any jewelry in store? I was thinking of getting this:
http://www.kohls.com/product/prd-...-ring.jsp# and http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/P...endant.jsp I am not a Kohl's member and it won't let me find out if the 15% coupon code or the $10 back for every $50 apply. Any additional codes to stack up? |

1. Yes, return drops orig. purchase below $50 earning min., so lose $10 KC. 2. $10 KC is safe. After return, orig. purchase is still over $50, so you keep the KC. 3. I think so. If the $15 return is from the orig. purchase, & drops the orig. purchase below the $50 earning min., then yes, you get $5 store credit & lose the $10 KC (which you already spent on the 2nd $40 purchase). If the $15 return is from the 2nd $40 purchase, & was paid for w/ KC, cash, or credit card, then you get $15 store credit, no harm, no foul. I'm not sure what the best scenario is in this case (3a), if there's a way to return/exchg/rebuy to either keep the KC or reduce OOP. Someone else w/ more exp. could tell you that. |
potentially losing sale tax
Recently, I purchased several pairs of jean and got $20 KC. I spent the $20KC in another $25 purchase (I paid $20KC + $5 + sale tax on $5). Later, I decided to return a pair of jean ($30), I only got back $10 + sale tax on the $10. I did not get back the sale tax on the $20 subtracted from my return. When asked why, I was given the reason that my purchase with the $20KC did not charge sale tax on the $20KC (which is correct). Now, I also decide to return the second purchase. I was give back $20 MC and credited back $5 + sale tax on $5 to my kohl's charge card. So far, everything seem ok. But, when I use my $20MC for a future $40 purchase , I will have to pay sale tax on the $40 because the $20MC is treated as a form of payment to the total amount. Therefore, I have lost the amount of sale tax on the $20.

Whoa!! You're right....I hadn't even thought about this. |
I dont even bother with the kohls cash unless I know for sure nothing will be returned. Or you could return the items without a receipt and take your chances on the price. I think it is wrong-if I spent the amount and earned it-there is no way they should take it away-just give me KMC to use on another purchase. I was told the new policy is due to the fact of people buying big items (like vacuums )-then returning the item and getting cash and doing some kind of scam. I think Kohls is scamming us!!

I got my order of goldtoe socks. However, it's supposed to be 4 pairs but they sent me a bunch of 3-pair packs. :( I double check the online description, my order, and shipping slip which all of them say it's supposed to be 4-pair pack. It's so frustrating.

The trick to it before was that you could:
1. Make a purchase that earned Kohls cash 2. Spend the Kohls cash 3. Return both purchases for merchandise credit 4. Spend the merchandise credit to earn more Kohls cash (repeat) Theoretically, if a person had wanted to take full advantage of this, while putting as little into it as possible, all they would have had to do was spend $50 one time to start earning Kohls cash, and then keep reinvesting that original $50 using merchandise credit to earn more Kohls cash. Probably most people who ended up benefitting from this, weren't out to "scam" the company, but were returning things they would have returned anyway. A few returns here, a few returns there, and you would end up with revolving merchandise credit that kept earning Kohls cash. It was just sort of a happy accident that smart Kohls shoppers figured out over time. The choice was - get your return back on the original form of payment, and lose your Kohls cash, OR take a merchandise credit. Some people would have rather had their actual money back. The Kohls cash wasn't just an incentive for people to spend more, it was also an incentive for people to take merchandise credit on returns. The problem for Kohls was that over time, the amount of actual money being spent on purchases would diminish as people accumulated more and more merchandise credit from those returns. Some people may have purchased big ticket items on purpose just to earn Kohls cash, and some may have been making honest returns. Either way, it was the company's policy - no cheating or scamming going on - just customers taking advantage of the return policies in the way that benefitted them the most. The real loophole was the capability to earn Kohls cash on merchandise credit. If Kohls just wanted to close the loophole - they could have said, purchases made with merchandise credit would no longer qualify to earn Kohl's cash. That would have been much simpler, and it would have insured that those who are earning Kohl's cash were making a fresh purchase, spending "actual" money out of their own pocket, rather than just re-spending store credit. The way they decided to change it, is not just preventing people from accumulating earnings on merchandise credit. It actually works more like a deterrent to making returns. So I don't think the "loophole" was really the issue. I think it's the returns. They want to be able to say they have a great return policy - bring anything back, anytime, blah blah blah - but in reality the return process may screw you over. |
Called CS and was told that they got messed up in their system of mismatch item with SKU. They offered me 15% off for one pair less socks (25%). I asked the CS how he came up with the maths. He said that's the best he could do unless I want to risk that they are going to be out of stock since it's going to take 10 days for their IT department to update the system and blah blah blah. Very frustrating.
