It would be better just to link previous threads in the wiki. There are offers from State Farm, Vanguard, Fidelity, etc discussed in this forum already.

I was brand loyal to TurboTax for the past few years but jumped ship to H&R Block because it's free. Worked just as well too.

I was also surprised to see it works pretty much the same as TurboTax and can load TurboTax files from previous year into it easily. My only issue is that I need to enter the values from Itsdeductible.com manually into H&R as it is not part of Intuit. I'll definitely file the tax return with H&R, but I'll also compare the calculations in TurboTax which I don't need to pay until e-filing.

Take your time. I submitted my taxes on Friday and the Federal government won't be ready until March to issue refunds.

7 years with Turbotax, then last and this year-taxact.com. Far far far less money and just as good if not better. Also, if you decide to go with turbotax, you cannot downgrade, only upgrade. So if you decide to save money and get a lesser version, you need to start completely over.

This is not true for the desktop versions... I have used premier and biz in the past and imported into deluxe last year.

I have been using Turbo tax the last few years and always have found it for less than $30.00 for both Federal and State Efile. This year it seems the deal killers have been the state Efile cost. I ended up using TaxAct for the first time and was very similar to Turbotax and it only cost me $11.95 for both Federal and State with efile.

You may downgrade by chatting with support. It will remain the default version for the next year, but you still have an option to pick other version.

Costco just had a Mfg Instant Rebate of $10 off their Home and Business Federal and State bringing the total to $69.99.

Can I combine any of these with Top. cashback (at 16%)?

wbabbott3 02-07-2013 07:14 AM

Just as an FYI, it isn't FY 2012, it's tax year 2012. Fiscal years and tax years do not always line up. (The more you know...)

Ah, you are totally right. In the name of accuracy, i've renamed the thread. :)

That is inaccurate.

Many people have filed an already received their refunds.

There are several forms including the 8863 (American Opportunity Tax Credit) and depreciation that the IRS is not accepting at this time. Those people cannot file at this time with those forms. They can file without the 8863 and file an amended return which will let them get some of their refund back now, but will have to wait 6-8 weeks to get their money back from that. It is scheduled to be ready in 1-2 weeks.

There were people that filed 1/30 and received their refund on that Saturday.

TT H&B Fed+State boxed CD is $55 w FS, no tax on ebay. Seller has almost 6000 stars and is Top Rated Plus - probably very reliable.

Turbotax for $40

Got an email today from Newegg for Turbotax Deluxe. $40 with coupon code EMCXVWS22. We missed out on some of the better deals so went with this one because I don't want to wait any longer. This is the disc version, not a download. Free shipping with Shoprunner.
