This is one sexy deal

evila 02-05-2013 10:42 AM

this is bull, I bought the base game for 10 from GMG a few weeks back, now how about premium service for $20?

Agreed. I missed the Amazon deal a month ago for premium by itself but need a reasonable price on the premium add-on. I'm certainly not paying $10-15 for each individual package or $50 for the whole thing.

webculb 02-05-2013 11:07 AM

Great deal

orificium 02-05-2013 11:29 AM

So does this give you a CD-KEY for base game and premium? I already own base-game (and b2k) so I was wondering if I could buy this and sell the base game for $10 or $15?

VERY SLICK! This game is awesome and Premium adds a TON of content. Not to mention it is FAR superior to any CoD game.

I've read that you get two keys. One is the base game. That's unofficial though.

SteveW2137 02-05-2013 11:41 AM

Yea you get two keys one for the base game with b2k and another key for the prem. Im in the same boat tho only need the prem

I can't say how it is for this deal, but I bought Premium in the retail box, and it had 2 keys. One was for the base game + the multiplayer head start kit, and the other one was for the expansion packs. Unfortunately, since I was in your situation, with "Limited Edition" base game and B2K, I missed out on multiplayer head start kit.

BoldIntrepid 02-05-2013 11:48 AM

So is this a good price? Playable on a Core 2 Quad?

jrussmlr 02-05-2013 11:51 AM

TY OP! Looks like a good deal.

So if I buy this, I could potentially give the base game away to someone, and then apply the premium code to my Origin account and get all the expansions?

You should tell us what video card you have. That would give a better indication on whether or not your system could handle this game.

I would like to know this as well. I bought the $10 dollar BF3 deal a little while ago and would like ONLY the expansions. I could gift the base game to friend to ride shotgun in my helicopter.

Your processor is good enough.

But yea like the guy above me asked, what GPU do u have?

fmjpower 02-05-2013 12:02 PM

hey guys, this a much slicker deal than the title states, this is not just for the premium service, this is for the base game, premium service and the $15 headstart kit, all included for $30.........lowest price i have ever seen for all of these, you will get 2 origin codes, one for BF3 LE and one for the premium content........you can sell the BF3 LE code on ebay for about $20 if you already own the base then all the DLC only cost you $10!

Battlefield 3 Premium Edition = Battlefield 3 Base Game + Battlefield Premium Service + Multiplayer Head Start Kit

edlovereze 02-05-2013 12:07 PM

I will be buying this when I get home in about an hour and will let you know if its 2 keys or not if no one does by then.

awu2 02-05-2013 12:08 PM

I'm interested in this game, can someone please answer a couple quick questions for me?

Is this premium service a one time thing? Kinda like a DLC? Or is it a monthly premium service, say like xbox live?
Does this contain everything? Or are there more add-ons/dlcs?
Lastly, do people mainly play this for the campaign or the multiplayer? Is the multiplayer still going strong?

Thank you!!

wario_2 02-05-2013 12:09 PM

I am waiting for the same price for XBOX. Those never seem to go lower than $40.

one time payment. the premium packages is like a season pass, you are buying all the DLC plus the future DLC pack when you purchase the premium service, that all it is. The headstart is just a unlock short cut, your basically unlocking everything without having to put any time into doing it, you'll be a private with every unlock. So basically your set, you will have all DLC plus all future DLC paid for, nothing more to ever purchase. Yes the multi player is community is massive, you will never have issues with finding a game to your liking.

sbeck14 02-05-2013 12:17 PM

I've got a Core 2 Quad q6700 at 2.66ghz and a Radeon HD 7770. I play at 1280x1024. Would this be playable?

Since this is not an offer on Origin, it wont be endless. We saw the never ending offers on Origin where everything was 50% off.

It comes with 2 different CD-Keys for those wondering.

This game is best played on at least a Nvidia 670. I have plenty of friends that play on a 460 with medium settings. I have two GTX 480's in SLI and get a good frame rate on Ultra with some things turned down.

wakawu 02-05-2013 12:49 PM

yoshigamer141 02-05-2013 12:49 PM

Awesome I was thinking about buying this last night but I knew I should hold off until a deal came up. I am a happy camper.

Actually I don't think the upgrade kit is the same thing as the shortcut kit that is generally offered separately. Either way a very good deal!

I bought this package around BF and from the BB deal. You'll get 2 keys, one for vanilla and one for premium. The keys are not tied to each other so you can get rid of the vanilla if you want.

Awesome game and plenty of servers to play from.

petey006 02-05-2013 12:57 PM

He most probably did :)

The maps/modes depends on your gamestyle, do you like infantry or vehicles? huge maps or indoors/corridors? do you like to strategize (with squad/friends) or just run and gun solo?

Karkand/Armoured Kill are Huge maps with vehicles and all....Metro (though huge) and Close quarters is infantry only.....

Conquest will be 64-player maps with going on for 30 mins or so with some quiet moments while you travel to the next objective, TDM and rush are comparatively smaller and faster....

So yeah, it has something for everyone....hv fun!

PeterM2339 02-05-2013 01:25 PM

This is a great deal if you have'nt investing any money in it yet. I've get BF3 when it came out, and the premium. If you get into it now, you will need the upgrade pack to be on level with the others.

It really depends on what style of maps you like to play. They're all quality but:

Karkland has a good variety and are maps remade from previous BF games.

Close Quarters if you like CoD style tight infantry map spamfests.

Armor Kill if you like HUGE maps that almost require heavy vehicle use to be any fun.

Aftermath for a good variety of post apocalyptic fun with medium size maps favoring infantry but with tanks and small helis on some/half the maps.

Yes I must have done the reply wrong, I hit quick reply and must have hit last post by mistake...

I use TDM servers to rank up on weapons. I use RUSH when I'm angry, and Conquest when with my buddies on TeamSpeak3. BF3 is a team based game. Playing solo is not too fun. I play with NoobSaladGaming.com . It's a rough crowd but we have FUN.

LNCarrillo 02-05-2013 01:36 PM

Oh, just read that the my card is the bottom level performance requirement....
"•Graphics card (NVIDIA): DirectX 10.0-compatible with 512 MB [HTML_REMOVED][HTML_REMOVED]RAM (NVIDIA GeForce 8, 9, 200, 300, 400 or 500 series with NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT or higher performance)"
Maybe I'll bite.

NicaDeli 02-05-2013 01:37 PM

Will this work with a BF3 Russian version?

Thanks,

Definitely better on PC but good on Xbox too if you don't mind the controller for FPS (I can't stand it). You're not out of your league...it's an amazing game too!

Have they ever added (or plan to add) bots to multiplayer?

For me, the multiplayer BLOWS. Dying every 10 seconds to the Battlefield junkies isn't my kind of fun. And no I'm not gonna waste my life away to become like them. BF2 (and Play4Free) is not like this... plus you can play with bots in BF2 and play with your buddies.

However the co-op missions and single player are pretty sweet... but too short. It's a beautiful game and plays great... but without bots just doesn't have much long-term playtime.

a good squad that has your back might be the solution as opposed to random players. no bots.. yet

rev2221 02-05-2013 02:10 PM

I hate that this has the base game... I'd rather pay $20 for the premium upgrades but I don't want to wait any longer for the DLC's. I guess I can't complain I did get the PS3 premium for free with that glitch awhile back. I think I'll sit on my vanilla code for awhile and try to get a friend with a good PC to get in to it.

Such an amazing game. It's no bad company 2 and I hate that the assault class get's the med kit and not the support but its many shortcomings are made up for with its crazy scale (ok it's not bf 1942...) strategic gameplay and gorgeous graphics.

Highly recommend to everyone that like's shooters. Give it time and for the love of God support your team and play the objectives. If not stick to close quarters team death match please =)

You probably pick packed servers with smallish maps. It is EASY to find servers that aren't so intense. You also might just really suck I guess.

Yea the multiplayer is extremely unforgiving. The players are EXTREMELY aggressive. I can't help but blame COD for that... As an assault medic it's virtually impossible to really revive players because you just get plugged in the head when you go out to save them. It's awful. And when YOU get revived there is literally a %75 chance you're just going to get killed before you can even get up.

I've tried everything to be an effective medic and because I suck so much at range and reaction time I've found the most effective play style for me is to just say *uck range, use a shotgun with buck or slugs and just pop out one hit kills close range. Most players will kill you with two bullets so the best solution is be able to kill them with 1.

For new players I'd say use assault with ak74m or m14 as much as possible. Preferably the 74m. Gentle recoil, good range, slow enough rate of fire so you don't have to burst as much.

iiispeck 02-05-2013 02:24 PM

what do we think the vanilla codes will be worth? I have the basic version already but hardly play it on the PC

wouldn't mind kicking a few bucks toward premium and getting a bit more into it but hoping for a better return on the base game code. $25 to upgrade to premium isn't worth it for me if we're only getting $5 for the base code

Drop it to low settings and resolution to 720p, and it should be "playable." This game handles/plays better on pc.

phillosis 02-05-2013 03:55 PM

I've had the opposite experience on PS3. Everyone plays medic and as soon as you down someone, he comes right back up. They should make it so that if you shoot an enemy in the head or if you successfully knife someone, they can't be revived. It's makes getting those difficult kills all the more rewarding.

2elve 02-05-2013 04:10 PM

I am still debating between this or Crysis 3.

Hrshycro 02-05-2013 04:20 PM

If Amazon PMs, does Amazon's come with the Head Start Pack?

I have the base game on PS3, but don't feel like paying $50 for Premium on there. I think I'll get this and start playing it on my MacBook Pro Retina after I BootCamp Windows 7 onto it. I can always plug it into my projector via HDMI and play it with a wireless mouse and keyboard, so it'll be more like consol. ;)

MaNonF1rE 02-05-2013 04:28 PM

Hey guys I just purchased it and there's two cd keys, is the top one the base game, cause I own original BF3. I wasn't sure which key was which, I entered both product codes and the limited appeared. However I'm not sure which was in the base one, if I entered both do I still get the base key code?

I can always plug it into my projector via HDMI and play it with a wireless mouse and keyboard, so it'll be more like consol. ;)

Yes. Its in the description. Lets hope they do PM it!

Just did (just got home)... Usually, if they're going to match something, they do it within an hour.

I might just go ahead and buy it from GMG.

Ugh... GMG doesn't accept AMEX or Discover... I guess I can use PayPal.

securety10 02-05-2013 05:53 PM

Tried 3 different cards at checkout along with paypal which I added a 2nd (Discover) card to also. Not one worked! Amazed anyone can purchase.

I give up...

Be nice if Amazon price matched, submitted the link, but doubt they will.

rev2221 02-05-2013 05:59 PM

Yea none of my cards working... even called the bank and said it would work in 30 minutes. That was 3 hrs ago... still not working. FML I really want this lol.

I doubt it is the bank and searching the issue seems to show that. I tried different browsers along with creating a new account and 4 different cards with and without paypal. Has to be something on their end...

I've already wasted to much time on it, but in the end it is good because I really don't want to support half baked game releases and then paying the same as base price or more after the fact for DLC when the base game is broke (referring to B2K).

Think some people have game credit with Amazon.

I personally can't get any payment method to work with GMG so I can't purchase it there for that reason.

Nah, JK, most of us just have credit there.

lol, me too. that's one of my favorite things about BF3 - since nearly everything is destructible, and people can be killed through walls, glass, practically anything, it's nearly impossible to camp in the game.

Compare that to COD where if you find the right spot, no one can kill you for an entire match, complete bulls**t. anyone attempting to camp in BF3 is either easily taken down with whatever weapon, tank, or heli.

my favorite takedown for a sniper camping in a building or something, is placing a beacon, parachuting onto the building or crane and knifing them. nothing more satisfying than that for douchey campers.

Yup, it's not going to happen because the digital gaming Amazon rep at CAG said they do not PM websites based outside the US. FYI the GMG website is UK based.

They email you both keys, the first key is a 20 digit that is for the base game, the second key is 16 digits and is for the premium version.

I just wonder if it is worth it for a 2011 game, surely this thing is going to be dropping to 20, and 15 soon.

WilliamG 02-05-2013 07:53 PM

Wow this thread was so misleading. I got the impression that this game came with the Premium Edition AND the base game. I figured I could buy the Premium Edition for myself (the game + expansion packs), and then give a friend the base game.

This is simply not true. I just redeemed the Premium Key, and it's just the expansions, NOT the main game. So now I have to use the base key as well to get the game.

Maybe I misread, but this thread = massively misleading.

Battlefield 3 Premium Edition = Battlefield 3 Base Game + Battlefield Premium Service + Multiplayer Head Start Kit

NOT TRUE! I just redeemed the Premium Edition key, and I can NOT load the game from my Origin library. The Premium Edition does NOT INCLUDE THE BASE game.

Just wasted $30. Thanks!

Consider this a warning to those wanting to buy this. If you have the base game already, then yes - you can buy this pack and just use the Premium Edition code. But the Premium Edition key does NOT include the base game.

Yes. One key is the BASE game, and the other is the Premium Edition (which is JUST the expansion packs and other goodies, but WITHOUT the base game!).

So if you don't have Battlefield 3 already, and want to actually PLAY the game and expansions, you need to redeem both keys. This thread made it seem that was NOT the case, and that the Premium Edition key gave you access to the base game + expansions.

Go back to COD :D

BF3 works much better when you work with your team/squad. Best bet is trying to find some friends to squad up with regularly. It's not just run and gun. For a team to succeed you need people playing all classes and working together.

Seems you are the only one so far that got that impression. The second key isn't Premium Edition it is Premium Service, which is clearly noted here and on GMG, the bundle is Premium Edition which is the base game, Premium Service (the expansions) and some DLC. Don't blame the thread or the OP, blame EA for offering and/naming Premium Service separately...

Please tell me how that was clear? I redeemed the Premium Edition code. I read above that the Premium Edition = Battlefield Base game +.....

So I expected to get the base game in the Premium Edition key.

You don't. Again, for anyone else reading this, be careful. Telling me it's "pretty clear" is just nonsense.

GMG wasn't very good to me. After reading all the posts, I couldn't resist (even though I really don't have the time to play) and I went to buy the game.
First hurdle - you have to have an account. Wouldn't let me buy without it. (I guess that's fair)
Second hurdle - credit card wouldn't go through, kept telling me no purchase. Checked all the details and it's fine.

Third hurdle - tried second card, cause who knows what could be going wrong with the first one - same deal - tells me card will not go through and I don't have a purchase.

Each time the purchase failed, the cart emptied and I had to start over again. Guess I'm just a stick in the mud becuase if it's gonna be this hard to give them my money.... well, maybe I'll try this game down the line...

attention to detail, it helps.
BF3 Premium EDITION = BF3 base game + BF3 Premium Service + multiplayer head start kit
which is exactly as the other person said

it doesn't make logical sense for any sale to include 2 copies of the same game plus the premium service.
everyone selling the BF3 base game key already owns BF3 and is using the sale just to get the premium service which goes for $50 by itself, so this IS still a deal.

Premium Service (1 key) = all DLC expansion packs + premium perks (special knife, dog tags, etc.)
Premium Edition (2 keys) = BF3 base game (1 key) + Premium Service (1 key) bundled together

You redeemed the BF3 premium service (1 key) only.

That's where you got confused, to your credit, EA made the terminology needlessly difficult.
But either way, it still doesn't make sense for GMG to have a sale with 2 copies of the same game + premium service so I'm not sure why you were expecting something like that.

gadget111 02-05-2013 09:18 PM

FYI, I had the same issue on Monday with Hitman. I opened a support ticket. Each time I got the same message. I tried using PayPal and then a credit card to purchase. I learned from GMG that each time the purchase actually did go through and I had purchased the game three times, despite their message that it had faied. GMG automatically refunded two of the purchases. I hope this helps..

Guys so to make sense of this, If I OWN BF3, but NO expansions, here's how I see it. I need to redeem the first key (20 digits) to get all of the DLC. The 2nd key (16 digits) is the base game + early access to some dlc that I can sell, since I owned just BF3 alone, correct?

haha yup, it really isnt a big problem on bf3. no one gets more than a few kills in a row before dying by sitting in one place. what angers me is the team balance issues. 2/3 of games are complete blowouts that result in maximum baseraping (BFBC2 had this same problem so it's not new). i dont care about people's records, but i want a chance at a fair fight, so switch as many people as you need to balance, and scrambling teams between rounds should be standard. maybe switch at the squad level if you want to keep people together.

WilliamG 02-06-2013 01:19 AM

I have a question. I'm using a Performance Mouse MX, and I still find that I can't get a smooth enough movement on the mouse when aiming. I switched to my 360 controller and the analog is smooth as butter, and I'm able to on target much more smoothly. Am I doing something wrong or is that just the nature of using a mouse these days? I know you can get mice with adjustable DPI, but that sounds like a lot of button presses all the darn time..

I guess I might have to continue playing with my 360 controller at this rate!

tl;dr version -- I'd recommend either using the X360 controller (sucks on PC for FPS games obviously), using your performance mx mouse but reducing the graphics settings to get 60FPS in the meantime for smooth play, or preferably getting a new mouse - wired gaming mouse (G500?) or a wireless gaming mouse (G700? or other with a high polling rate).

additional info/explanation:
I had this same problem with my old Logitech MX Revolution (the one before the Performance MX). When I bought BF3 a few months after it came out for PC, I thought I had a problem with my video card (HD6850) or something else. I couldn't get smooth gameplay unless I set everything on medium graphics so that I had over 60 FPS consistently. However, with the Xbox 360 controller, I could get smooth motion at anything above 30 FPS, same as you.

I picked up the Logitech G700 gaming mouse for this reason and it works great, smooth motion at anything above 30 FPS like the X360 controller. I can now run everything on Ultra (MSAA turned off) at 1080p and I get anywhere from 35 FPS-50FPS depending on the level according to Fraps but it's still smooth. I turn it to high settings on multiplayer especially on smaller maps (more things exploding) for the added frames and smoothness.

The G700 though has changed the way I play any PC game with a mouse and keyboard. Being able to customize the 7 keys on the mouse to set them to whatever i want means i have the ability to knife, reload, throw a grenade, etc. with my right hand on the mouse without releasing WASD with my left hand. It feels more like using an X360 controller but with the added accuracy of a mouse. It makes me much faster in playing and I've noticed I was am accurate and have an overall better K/D ratio as a result (i don't really care about that though, since I'm usually the one who goes in for the sacrifice M-COM enabling/disabling, just an observation).

It's not DPI though, which is just the sensitivity of the mouse based on how far you physically move it on your desk. The customization for the G700 says that it's the "polling rate", basically how frequently the mouse reports to the USB dongle per second. I'm not sure what the MX Revolution or the Performance MX polling rate is, but it's static, and it's not high enough to maintain a smooth display without microstuttering in BF3. Both of those mice are designed for extended wireless activity, so the polling rate is pretty low for increased battery life, which makes it bad for gaming.

I similarly set my G700 at the lowest 125 reports/second for daily use, but i turn it up to max of 1000 reports/second for BF3 or any other game I play. The battery life as a result sucks if you game a lot, but that's fine for a wireless mouse that easily plugs in for recharging or for battery swapping (I use eneloop batteries, and the G700 comes with an eneloop to use as well). The other added benefit is you can have several different profiles for the G700 for different games. I have the standard profile which allows me to use back/forward in browsers and rewind/forward in VLC, etc. and then I have one for BF3, Team Fortress 2 (my most played), Borderlands 2, etc. It's a simple one-button press on the top of the mouse to change customized profiles.

That was waaaay more info than you needed, I just kept rambling because I love this mouse, and as much as I hated having to buy it in the first place to play BF3, it's been excellent across all games. it's a bit of a setup and trial and error to get what you like, but then it's no fuss and additional profiles are easy to set up.

Consider this a warning to those wanting to buy this. If you have the base game already, then yes - you can buy this pack and just use the Premium Edition code. But the Premium Edition key does NOT include the base game.

Not sure whats so confusing, it's pretty straight foreword, the premium edition package comes with 2 cd keys, one is the base game, one is the premium content, cant get much clearer than that, the only way you wouldn't need the base game cd key is if you already own BF3 and were making this purchase strictly for the premium content.

So how do you get/activate the Multiplayer Head Start Kit? I sure don't have it.

Wow. Origin/BattleLog is a fing mess. It take 5 minutes to find a server, then another 5 minutes to connect to it.

In-game, try to change your primary weapon. You should have quite a few options. By default, people without the head start kit have to unlock these.

It's over 10GB... And I'm sure a lot of people purchased it. I'm not surprised it took a long time. I set mine to download this morning, then headed to work.

Don't believe so and don't expect anyone will either as this company is international.

tl;dr version -- I'd recommend either using the X360 controller (sucks on PC for FPS games obviously), using your performance mx mouse but reducing the graphics settings to get 60FPS in the meantime for smooth play, or preferably getting a new mouse - wired gaming mouse (G500?) or a wireless gaming mouse (G700? or other with a high polling rate).

additional info/explanation:

Thank you for the reply. I'm already playing at 60fps, so that's not the issue. I did have a Razer Mamba temporarily, and even with that I found the movements were not smooth enough. Maybe I'm just spoiled by the smoothness of the 360 analogs. I understand for speed of whipping around corners etc a mouse/keyboard always wins in FPSs, but I'm just not enjoying how un-smooth it is to get a bead on a baddie. :(

I use the Razer Deathadder Black Edition and it is as good as an extension of my mind, woah!! :yummy:

enforcer72 02-06-2013 03:38 PM

Just got off the chat with amazon. Apparently they have a policy in place about price matching that is news to me.
"Jennifer:With the exception of TVs, Amazon doesn't offer a price match guarantee. We do spend considerable effort to ensure our prices are the lowest in the marketplace at any time. Because the marketplace is constantly changing and we strive to offer the lowest price, you'll see some fluctuations in our prices over time." that was from their live chat when I asked for a price match and linked both their price and gmg price.

I did point out that the price for half off the north American version from another source was not the lowest in the "marketplace" and that amazon does international business as well and since the game was a digital download from origin servers and therefore they had no overhead than buying blocks of keys from origin they should price match. She agreed but would fell back on the policy. If it works for someone else let me know how please.

Does your mouse have a setting for angle snapping?
My M510 wireless mouse doesn't and I cant play a FPS with it, but my G9X has been smooth as butter since turning "angle snapping" on in setpoint.

weamz 02-06-2013 08:20 PM

Had no luck with 2 different visa cards. It never even asked for my verified by visa info. When does this sale end anyways?

I don't think so? Can't say for sure. I'm on the OS X side of things right now. :D

I did buy a G700 which will be here Friday, so we'll see how that goes. :)

ChrisB1481 02-06-2013 09:23 PM

So If I already have BF3 can I buy this and just use the Premium Code? Yes or no answer, some of the other comments are confusing me.

As noted above, yes. Redeem the 16 digit key on your current Origin account with BF3 and your BF3 will become Premium. Then sell or gift the 20 digit (base game) key.

MaNonF1rE 02-06-2013 09:59 PM

I think I messed up guys, so when I look at my origin I have BF3 base game (with old key), then I have a BF3 Limited Edition with the new 20 digit key. I also am downloading all the dlcs but cannot find hte 16 digit key anywhere. So does this mean I no longer have a base bf3 key? I wasn't sure which key was which so I entered the 20 first and then the 16.

The first key was for the base game, the second key was for the add-ons.
Dunno why you would want to install the second key they give you first lol

MaNonF1rE 02-06-2013 10:09 PM

Yea I was confused as to which key belongs to what, cause of the Premium and Premium service what not name mix ups. So does that mean since I have a BF3 and BF3 limited each with DLCs in them, that I have two base games?

5 - r
6 - g

So if you don't have Battlefield 3 already, and want to actually PLAY the game and expansions, you need to redeem both keys. This thread made it seem that was NOT the case, and that the Premium Edition key gave you access to the base game + expansions.

If you couldn't pick up on this, well, your an idiot.

Why would they include the base game if the premium package already contained it?... lol

sdmomof2and1 02-07-2013 09:26 AM

says it 59.99 now

Damn, looks like the sale is over now. My bank called me this morning about the refused transaction last night and I told them to allow the transaction as I was going to try to buy it again but now it says $59.99. That sucks.
