$143 + $9S/H - Ducky DK9008 Shine II White LED Backlit Mechanical Keyboard (Brown Cherry MX)

A very rare mechanical keyboard from one of the few suppliers of Duckys in the US.
I was waiting for a White LED model from a US non-eBay seller for a while.
I was also watching this reputable seller and they got shipment of Duckys Shine II today.
Different models are available, but stocks wont last, so hurry
This is hot not because it is cheap, but because it will be outsold today and will have to wait few months again. eBay Sellers in China offer it for 180, but I just don't think it is a good idea to order from abroad.

It is a top of the line mechanical keyboard. White LED models are so rare, that one will be hard-pressed to find one in the US. They had just 10, I purchased and it showed 5+, as of 12:36pm CST only 4 in stock.

Their FB page states that the new batch was supposed to be cleared at customs today by 6pm CST, but due to some hold ups they should get units tomorrow morning and start shipping on Friday. I preordered and got my confirmation.

It's an okay price, but if your desperate for this particular keyboard with brown switches, go for it.

I was going to jump on a Ducky Shine II, but Corsair announced their K95 (White LED, Full Red Cherry MX, set of macro keys, and black aluminum for about $150). I currently own a Razer Black Widow Ultimate (blue switches) and a Rosewill RK-9000RE (red switches).

Yeah, as I said, it is an okay price.
Ducky Shine II is rare, much more rare than Corsair.
For many, mks are a matter of personal preference.
Corsairs are great, and you can easily get it @Amazon, Newegg, and other retailers
Duckys are rare and you cannot get them locally, incl. Amazon.
So this deal is not hot price-wise, it is hot just because it is a hot commodity.
12:41pm - 3 left, white LED, I think will go OOS in less than 10 mins

Personally I would try to get a used filco. I got my filco tkl mj2 mxbrown for 120 and it was basically new. But if you really want back light, I guess this keyboard would be the best for it.

ursus 02-06-2013 11:00 AM

Agreed. Filcos are reputable, and also are rare.

I just wanted one for the office, and red/blue LED for a young professional in formal settings are not too suitable, as are perhaps white LED lol but at least whites are more neutral
I could not find anything in the US, and was just waiting, so finally the wait is over

OK. So I went ahead and got one. I was considering a DAS keyboard, but I did some quick research and this is supposed to be constructed a little bit better. Since they are about the same price and this one is back lit I went with this one.

It kind of sucks that mechanicalkeyboards.com is running a promo tomorrow for $7 shipping and these will be sold out by then. Oh well. I guess it is just $2.

ursus 02-06-2013 11:21 AM

I had DAS, and sold it because keys sucked (common problem with sticky keys), I was one of those unlucky ones who got the newest model, after the company changed their supplier/assembler. This is my first Ducky, but I also was reading a lot and it is commonly considered to be the top-notch maker, specifically Ducky's DK9008 Shine II - a flagman model.

Blue LED and Red LED will stay, I am sure, with different combination of Cherry MXs They also posted on FB that a new Orange LED model arrived, but I will first try white LED and if I like it that much, I will get Blue or Orange for home.

silliness 02-06-2013 11:34 AM

I think blue would probably be the best color for the eyes (if you are working in the dark), but I think white would be second nicest. I'm not sure how I would feel about red. I agree that white is probably best for a professional work environment.

I don't think my first order went through as I had no email confirmation. So I went back and had to do it all again. The order form on that site is not so great. Needs work. So I might have gotten the last one. Or maybe two or three. Who knows. LOL

ursus 02-06-2013 11:39 AM

I never purchased from them, so had to look em up @ FB. They seem to be responsive, am sure if you ordered two, you can call em up, they will fix it

Orange just looks unusual. Blue LED remains the most popular, for all computer-related stuff: fans, cases, kb, etc.

Glad to see they re-stocked. They had some in stock a couple months back.

I am personally waiting on the k95 from corsair. I've heard great things about Ducky keyboards as well.

That K95 is literally everything I've been looking for in a keyboard. I stopped using my Logitech G510 for a mechanical rosewill, but I miss my 18 macro keys. I hope they offer it in MX blue switches.

If you're looking for Ducky keyboards, it might be cheaper to buy from here:

http://global.pchome.com.tw/engli...BAE0W&tm=e

I've bought from the above store, and the shipping is decently fast.

ursus 02-06-2013 12:56 PM

Nice find, I never purchased from Taiwan directly. Definitely cheaper than eBay, but only $5 cheaper than the US seller ($136.79 + $10 shipping vs. $143 + $9SH). But if they are never OOS, then it works out well

This is quite possibly THE BEST mechanical keyboard on the planet. Cherry Brown > Red, same performance but a typist feel (with dampeners, its amazing). I was actually waiting on this keyboard to come back in stock, but the $75 AR Corsair w/o backlight won on price/features.

silliness 02-07-2013 08:22 PM

Mine shipped out today. I can't wait to get it!
