Kohl's Cash offer is till Feb 9th

Tylanner1 02-07-2013 12:42 PM

I can attest that this is a high-quality set. Very comfortable and simple to construct.

Boomin850 02-07-2013 01:27 PM

Nice find! I've been looking for a small patio set, and this is perfect! Thanks, repped!

kalender 02-07-2013 02:19 PM

I get mad when I see the original list prices at KOHL's. They are too exaggerated. and that is not a good / honest business practice. Their discount prices are just normal that are found everyday everywhere.

I can buy a set of 8 chairs and a dining table for their list price, not only 2 chairs with a little coffee table.

patrickcraig04 02-07-2013 02:35 PM

I have this set.. paid 180 last yr.. its nice

Sorry, but these are for outdoor use only. The indoor air polutants will deteriorate the finish quickly. I hope this helps.

You must only be mad at Kohls for listing MSRP prices extremely high. I could name a couple of businesses that do the same. Here is a couple

Amazon, Bestbuy, Frys, Target, Walmart, Fredmeyer, Officemax, Staples, Tigerdirect, Newegg, 1saleaday, Woot, Dailydeals, Ace, Lowes, HomeDepot, ToysRUs, Cabellas,Bed bath and Beyond, Overstock, Bonton, Buy.com, Every B&M store, 99% of online stores.

Its called marketing. Will never go away and every store does it. If you only see it on Kohls, Then you must only shop there.

Not sure if that was a real answer or troll haha.. Indoor air polutants.. Vs Outdoor.

This is almost too good to pass up, but I don't have a covered area to keep them under so the cushions will get soggy and wet when it rains unless I bring them in all the time (according to the reviews, the cushions absorb water big time). God I am lazy. Guess I could always buy some nice water-repellent cushions? Oh, the decisions. TU OP

Do you know how heavy? I live in LA valley area and this is for the roof deck so I need something that will stay put with most of the winds.

I purchased covers at Big Lots to put over my chairs and used a grill cover to cover the table. No water problems whatsoever.

Seriously though, any outdoor furniture can be used inside

Then again, why would you want to? These clearly look like outdoor chairs and would look quite odd inside. Your local discount furniture store probably has a couple of cheap chairs around ~$50 each and a little table to go with it that would look much better in a living room.

If you are concerned about high winds, one solution is to buy an outdoor set that has PVC style chairs and fill the PVC tubes with sand. (Purchase bags of sand from HomeDepot or Lowes). This is one of the better solutions to combat high winds. This advice would not apply to the Kohl's set in this thread because the framing for the Monterey is metal and not PVC tubing.

Thanks a really good idea! Thank you for the suggestion. We've struggled for 18 months to find something that we could leave out there and didn't have to bring in every time it's windy. Reps your way for the info!

I am pretty sure any of us could find a POS dining room table w/ 8 chairs for $105.00. I have no idea what my point is. What's yours?

could you elaborate a little on this? I googled PVC style chairs and only impression I get is those chairs with frames that are hollow inside and fill them up?

Surely that will not do anything to the winds I face everyday up in here, in the high plains of colorado...

no outdoor furnitures whatsoever ever lasts...they are alllll flying everywhere everday.

I really need a solution. I bought all these nice outdoor sets all stuck in the garage cuz I will always find them all scattered across my humongous backyard the next morning i set them up.

Blah blah blah, If you really think these will have a shorter life span indoors staying dry, vs the rain, winds, pollens, bugs, and critters. You sir are wrong. That article is talking about gases and air being in poorly ventilated houses and mold issues. If your house has these problems your least concern is about your $100 patio set. 100% of that article you posted is not referring to indoor furniture deteriorating more quickly then being outside. Its about ventilation and the pollutants you inhale inside. Completely out of context,

You are of course correct. Did you notice I used LIVESTRONG as my link reference stating they are "beyond reproach". I know they are not Lance Armstrong, but I figured some would get a chuckle. They are one of the many possible sources I used on purpose to
!) throw off the one who asked the original question, and
2) to see if folks would pick up on the "whole nutha level" I took the sarcasm to.

Sorry it was a little too sneaky. Frustration averted!

We may get cancer or respiratory illness from indoor air, but the patio furniture will be fine inside. No accounting for taste of course.
Worst harm I could have done was keep someone from putting outside furniture inside, which in this case the end justified the means.

the quality of these things have to be REALLY REALLY good for you all to get all excited about the deal. Two chairs and tiny table, MSRP at $499!! and deal at $125 !! WOW. Do real human beings purchase this at $499, like ever? I am just having hard time digesting the $125 and it being a steal!! Someone said about MSRP issue with Kohls..and I kinda agree. hmmm..

Do you have a wooden porch or deck? You could secure the chairs, tables, etc. to the wood. Obviously, the downside is the items are stuck where you put them, and you will have screw holes, but it would keep the items in place and remove the potential damage caused by chairs and other furniture flying around!!

faalaalee 02-08-2013 06:15 AM

Looks like an awesome deal. Only reason I am debating is if I should get a 5-pc set with the Ottomans. Any recommendations?

agree too - anyone know a 30% off code - Why is it not overlapping with the kohls cash this time. Usually they have 30% off for card holders and kohls cash on top of it at the same time. Anyone know when the 30% off starts?

I know, read my 3rd post. It was just more sarcasm, and some misdirection. I can't believe all that work for nothing. Well since my wife didn't get it, I understand. I thought it would get some more laughs and reps from the smart (alecs) like myself here. No one preeshed.

Fonzz 02-08-2013 07:55 AM

A little more than I wanted to spend (on a Valentines day Gift), but boy will she love it. I'm going to have this assembled and already placed on my GF's apartment patio before she gets home from work on Valentines day, with some fresh flowers placed on the little table too! This will replace two crappy, dirty white plastic chairs currently occupying that space. Patio is covered and always in the shade too, so a perfect fit for this area according to reviews.
About that ridiculously high MSRP, no big deal, lots of retailers play that game, the way I see it, slash that BS MSRP in half, and it's still a solid deal, Thank You OP!!! :bounce:

Hey all. For you owners, i assume this set is waterproof and you just leave it outside in all kinds of weather. Am I right? I live in CA, so no snow worries, but it can get foggy/rainy and low temps at night. I'd love some insight as to how they hold up and what to expect. Thanks.

Well I didn't see where it would damage patio furniture. I guess I can't win. It is either stay inside and die of indoor pollutants, OR, live outside and let the wild animals, bad weather and murderers get me instead. Oh well. Now what?

In the cart and got all the way to submitting the order and ITS OUT OF STOCK!!!!!!!!!!!

I HATE YOU KOHLS WEBSITE BECAUSE OF THE ABSOLUTE INEPTNESS OF SPENDING 30 MINUTES ADDING IT TO MY "BAG", CHECKING PROMOTIONS, PUTTING MY CREDIT CARD INFO IN AND GETTING LOG IN SET UP ONLY TO DISCOVER AT THE END THAT ITS OUT OF STOCK.

I just made an order with the new 30% off which came down to ~$98 shipped. It let me checkout and everything, never said it was out of stock...

Looks like the code "HEART" is no longer valid , bit use code" CUPID30" gets you 30% off making it $140 now vs the op's $100 . Still a warm deal just not as hot .

I received mine this evening. My son and I put it together pretty quickly. It's decent. The chair pad color is blegh, so I will add a couple pillows for color. It's pretty comfortable. I prefer deeper seating, but for $100, that would be asking for too much comfort, I presume. Overall, it will do, and certainly beats the uncomfortable bistro set we have now.

:bounce:

This is cute! Did you get to do it? Mine won't be delivered until tomorrow. No biggie.

It's about noon here now, she gets home about 6 and she'll get the surprise then, but check this out everybody...

The set arrived yesterday on time. I then proceeded to assemble, got the first chair together, started the second one when I realized that the set I had received had 3 left armrests and only one right side one (supposed to get two lefts and two rights). I was pretty miffed at that point. After a call to customer service this morning, they'll be sending out another entire set, I'll grab the part I need, call them back up and they'll schedule a pickup for the unneeded one. This is option B over option A which would have meant checking with the warehouse to see if an extra part only could be obtained, if not, it would only delay option B so I took that route immediately.

The upside is: I'll still have one chair, one table and my explanation to give AND, I just received another 20$ in Kohls cash to spend on the "re-order", a decent little consolation for my troubles IMO.

I already told her "that something I ordered online came with something missing and I'm sure it'll be taken care of and in the meantime, part of what it is, is still usable etc...")
It's even more offset by the fact that it's only her that goes out onto the patio for her 2 cigarettes a day habit, I can wait till the weather warms up to join her (springtime).

Just put my set together, its very nice for $!00...Would I pay $200, probably not, and definitely not $499 MSRP, but great set for $100! We just had a deck built and it with our other table and chairs...Thanks OP and Kohls!

got mine, worth 80 dollars, no more. chairs are flimsy due to the C shape for the legs, and the cushions are pretty cheap (and hideous).

cadis12 02-21-2013 02:56 PM

Started putting mine together. Quality control at the factory that made these was not the best. The threading on the screw holes were not correct. I broke a screw in one of the holes trying to screw it in. Plus I was shorted a screw and had too many of another. Errrrrrrr

I'm not going to return them though because they are really comfy for the $$. I'll be drinking a lot of beer sitting in these chairs in front of the fire pit this summer!
