Orgain Organic Protein Vanilla Shakes 12pk - $12.76

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...00_s00_i00

Amazon just reduced my favorite ever meal replacement / protein shake from $33 to $12.76 for the case.

This stuff is amazing and this is my favorite flavor. I much prefer it to the chocolate or the coffee. It is all organic, contains fruit and veggies. Delicious and satisfies my vanilla milk shake cravings. I just ordered 3 cases. I have never seen it this low.

Note:

There were a lot of complaints about the old formula and then on Feb 1st someone posted this:
They changed it back! Its thinner and much better tasting now. I'm back to being an Orgain fanatic. Thank you , thank you! Word of caution - order from Amazon.com (do not use a third party vendor)

Bought 2 to get free shipping. Hope I like it! Thanks alot!

jeffrey.screen 02-07-2013 06:44 PM

have you tried it recently.

It seems to have alot of bad reviews about new formula.

radosti 02-07-2013 06:47 PM

I didn't like the chocolate flavor new formula. Going back to vanilla. I did not notice a difference with the vanilla at all so far. Don't know if I've been getting the leftovers of the old stock from Amazon, but the last one I got was not that long ago. I hope 3 cases was not a mistake. I can tell you though that if it is really gross, Amazon will take care of the issue. I once bought some other shake case that was so loaded with stevia that I could not handle it, called them and they refunded the price.

liangonesearmy 02-07-2013 06:50 PM

thanks OP - in for 5. i usually drink the chocolate ones. honestly i didn't really notice the change in flavor much since it still tastes so much better than any other protein drinks. when they changed formula the stuff was much thicker/harder to drink though. anyhow, this stuff is awesome

radosti 02-07-2013 06:53 PM

OOOHHH, there is a whole discussion in one of the reviews and someone said this:

I went to the vitamin shoppe website as well as the orgain website and it looks like they've gone back to the old ingredients but i haven't received my case yet so we'll see. i'll definitely return it if not because i HATE stevia!

And then another person posted on Feb 1st:
They changed it back! Its thinner and much better tasting now. I'm back to being an Orgain fanatic. Thank you , thank you! Word of caution - order from Amazon.com (do not use a third party vendor)

tennisplayer888 02-07-2013 07:05 PM

Will this make me lose weight?

Or will this get me 6-pack abs?

cagalindo 02-07-2013 07:09 PM

i was gonna get 5 for myself but realized its way cheaper just to keep getting whey protein. 2x protein, half the crap, same price

but i got 2 packs just to try.. 1 for me 1 for my gf

DakBatch 02-07-2013 07:18 PM

Wanted to try it but then saw it Only had 16grams.

radosti 02-07-2013 07:33 PM

It's not only about protein. It's a well rounded meal replacement that has several servings of fruit and veggies in it.

swilli1 02-07-2013 07:37 PM

I'll try it out. Bought 2 for the wife and I.

do u know what kind of whey protein used? powdered?

aqan 02-07-2013 07:53 PM

I wish they had this in low-carb

funinco10 02-07-2013 07:53 PM

Decided to try one - could do without the 12 g of sugar though... Thanks for posting

radosti 02-07-2013 08:06 PM

Sorry, no idea on the type of whey used.

You know, strangely enough, the 12g of sugar do not spike my levels. I am a diet controlled diabetic, so I can only have one of these a day. But I think my levels stay normal because it's not all cane sugar, but fructose also from the fruit complex. At least that's my guess.

ilbknownas1 02-07-2013 08:13 PM

mocha or vanilla? i'm torn between
EDIT: Nvm, was using scroll over and price didnt change when i looked at others.

agree, and don't care for the sodium[saltier % than cheese], nor the o-6 oil, but much better sounding ingreds. than most

stubbornboy 02-07-2013 08:52 PM

Does this help reduce weight? I have played Tennis at least 4 days a week for the last two years and I feel terrible if I don't get to play. Since I ran out of partners this winter I joined the gym (for the first time in my life) and I have put on weight (went from 170 to 180 lbs wtf)

So confused at this point. I have never taken Whey protein. If I buy this do I skip lunch and have this instead?

dudezz 02-07-2013 08:54 PM

ten left!!

Mr_Mountain_Man 02-07-2013 08:55 PM

jcmantaray 02-07-2013 09:07 PM

just bought 4 cases! thanks!

k95zt01 02-07-2013 09:08 PM

All of the talk about the new formula...let me clarify...they had a formula that everyone loved but it had soy lechitan in it so they went to stevia and then everyone hated it. But I've been in direct communication with the company and they have finally figured out the right formula I believe still with stevia but where it tastes like the soy lechitan version. So unless you get a old batch of the first new stuff you should be good to go. The last 5 shipments I have gotten have all been the new new kind.

I much prefer chocolate to vanilla but this is the best price I have ever seen so I stocked up. I have one every morning for breakfast and makes me feel less guilty about not eating enough fruits and vegetables. You get the equivalent of 10 servings of fruits and veggies.

fumey 02-07-2013 09:08 PM

Does anyone know the est Shelf life for these drinks? OR when you bought the in a store, how many months would it show to expire?

HECTORYN 02-07-2013 09:08 PM

It's back to 29.99

fumey 02-07-2013 09:10 PM

I hope it's the version with stevia. Prefer that to sugar anyway. What is this "10 servings of fruits and veggies" claim you say? That sounds too good to be true.

Yeah gained a bit, but not like I got big or anything. And that was not my objective at all. I joined only to do something equivalent to playing Tennis.Tennis had helped me drop from 190 to 170 over a period of 5 months or so (assisted by diet) and keep at that weight until now.

I ordered one anyways. Worst case I can preserve it and give to someone else who might be able to have this. I suppose I could mix it with my daily breakfast smoothie

may be you gained muscle. Remember muscle weighs 3x more than fat. You playing tennis probably helps you more with cardio than muscle building, but since you started to (i assume) lifting weights, it may grow substantially!

dudezz 02-07-2013 11:07 PM

finally found it. supposedly its flower called "stevia" and it is a very sweet flower petals nobody likes in their drink (sugar + stevia leave = super sweet from what the others are saying). I did my research, and on the amazon website picture it does have the stevia ingredient in it still. On the orgain website though, stevia is nowhere to be present. :) hopefully no stevia

I realize that some people have already responded, but thought I'd chime in. The one major/top review on Amazon and the discussion it spawned reveals a lot.

http://www.amazon.com/review/RQKS...re=grocery

I began drinking this after a friend's suggestion this past summer, around June '12. I tried the vanilla, chocolate, and thought it was ok - but I LOVED the mocha. They're expensive at about $3 a single, or $2.50 if you can manage to find 4-packs at the store. The cases of 12 are around $30 normally. But since they are good for you, and I had a real problem with in between hunger and snacking, I loved these for those times, and as a post workout drink. I was HOOKED on them.

In the fall, I found them on Amazon for less than my price at the grocery store and bought 2 cases. I thought - and you'll read this exact sentiment echoed in the various Amazon review comments, that the batch had gone bad. It wasn't just that it didn't taste right... it tasted downright nasty. It was unpleasant. It seemed like it was spoiled. The texture was wrong. It didn't mix when shaken. It was 'muddy' and 'syruppy'. I called Amazon and told them, and they refunded me. I figured, I'd ever buy from Amazon again and went back to the grocery store. The next box from there, BAD. Same thing. I was perplexed. This continued over the next month and a half, as I went from store to store trying out cases, finding out they were all bad, and was convinced it was just a bad batch from the company and intended to contact and inform them that something went wrong.

It was then that I came across that discussion on Amazon. Suddenly it all made sense. They changed the formula, but they said nothing of doing so. No "New Formula" sticker on the packaging. No distinct change in packaging - nothing. This. THIS, was the thing that hurt them most. It wasn't just that a product people truly enjoyed and spent lots of money on changed for the worse - it's that there was no transparency. I lost respect for the company after that. I never found a true replacement as I drink protein shakes post workout and no longer have a meal replacement for in between meal snacks. I saw this post right after it went live and, even though one comment claims they changed the formula for the better, could not convince myself to buy it (even at that insane price). The fact is that every single time I bought a new case or single after the change and tried it (before I knew it had changed), the taste was SO bad and so unpleasant I think I'm conditioned to expect them to taste like absolute vomit. That makes me sad, but it's the sad truth. They really messed up.

Anyone with prior Orgain experience, please chime in with your taste results of this "new" batch, any flavor. The reason I'm skeptical is that they claimed they were aware of the situation and were doing something about it for months... even during that time I was trying them over and over. I never noticed a change.

great news!! :) my packages have been shipped on saturday via fedex smartpost but no updates yet bahh :(

tgar8033 02-12-2013 02:55 PM

Mine came 2 days after I ordered, and I used FSS, it was super quick surprisingly.

Mr_Mountain_Man 02-12-2013 03:23 PM

Got mine today. Taste is about what I expected. They aren't bad for the price we got them at, but I wouldn't pay $30 for a 12 pack in the future. For those that were wondering about the formula, the nutrition facts on my cases list Stevia in the ingredients.

sn_85 02-13-2013 06:30 AM

I bought 2 cases and received mine this past Monday. Wishing I had bought 5 cases. If I were to describe what it tastes like I'd say that at first it tastes like soy bean milk and then it leaves you with a rice milk aftertaste. I'm not sure if I got the new formula or the newer (old) formula but mine does have stevia in it. Either way it tastes great and I'm kicking myself for not getting a couple more!!!

radosti 02-13-2013 04:30 PM

I'm glad you guys are all liking these. I got spoiled on these and now no other meal replacement shake will do. Quite expensive when they normally run $33 per case. This was the only time in 2 years that it has ever dropped that low.

dudezz 02-14-2013 01:41 AM

received mines today. Not "fantastic" taste like everyone was saying. But i guess meal replacement drinks dont taste great in general? This is my first meal replacement drink though (besides muscle milk which sucks but thats a protein shake)

branchero 02-16-2013 03:27 PM

It's baack!

topa 02-16-2013 06:42 PM

thx for posting it, but how many do u drink as ''meal replacement''? just a lite snack for me--not as good as real food. yogurt+fruit works much better for us--much better nutrient profiles. doesn't feel at all like i got vitamins from 10 fruits and veggies! but probbly better than others of this kind.
