Anybody find another MB it can be bundled with?

Are there any other motherboards that work in this combo? I need more than 8GB RAM.

I tried a Gigabyte with no luck. Didn't know if there was a set of motherboard that would work. Is this deal advertised?

The only board that seems to work is the 1 in the OP

burticus 02-09-2013 10:26 AM

FX4100 + same motherboard for the same price, if games are more your thing. 3.6ghz quad vs 2.7ghz hex. Both are decent deals I guess, but seems have been that price with motherboard for a while.

Edit - hey for what it is worth, I also get the same price with the Phenom II X4 965 and that Gigabyte motherboard. Showing $89 in cart.

AND there is a $10 MIR for the motherboard! http://www.microcenter.com/store/...&rid=67740

So $79 after MIR. I would take the 965 over the 1045 any day of the week, those should hit 4ghz pretty easy on stock voltage and heatsink.

Add these to your cart:

CPU is local pickup only. Sorry out of towners.

Got the fx4100 deal for a build I put together for my little cousin along with the corsair 420w and a thermal take v2 case. Not bad but needs a video card. I'm thinking if a hex is better now but faster quad would suit him better, plus too late now anyway

burticus 02-09-2013 11:00 AM

Considering picking up the 965+mobo... really only want the 965 as last ditch upgrade for one system. Anyone wants that Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P + an older 3 core Phenom II 710 (2.6ghz x3) + a heatsink for like $45 + shipping PM me.

the ram is DDR3-1066. I don't care if I have to buy different ram, I just want to get this unit up and running.

I believe the power supply is just a 300 watt but I have a new 400 watt that I bought on one of the deals here.

Thanks

The 965 and 1045T have been featured in micro centers famous and bundles for years. They are finally replaced by bulldozer and vishera deals only. I'm surprised no one has linked this yet.

http://www.microcenter.com/site/p...ndles.aspx

The motherboards shown on this deal page are the ones most likely to still have a bundle discount with the 965 and 1045T. Try these. I bought my 965 and Asus m5a97 for nearly $80 in the past

if i want an htpc setup to run 2-3 xbox's as media extender and as use for a server would i be better served with an i7.

does a GPU have to work when running WMC/hdhomerun prime or is it all cpu power? if its gpu then could i get away with using the integrated intel hd4000?

and if its CPU power only can i get away with it running this setup?

Please be advised the motherboard supports up to 95w only as per MC records.. and the 965 is 125w. the 1045t will be no problem at 95w. On gigabyte's website, however, it shows the 965 is supported so i do think that OC'n the 965 may spell trouble especially since its not a performance board whatsoever

This is a great combo for the outgoing 1045t. $80 for a decent cpu/motherboard, cant go wrong. I bought the combo as a possible replacement to my aged Dell Slim with an upgrade core2duo E8400. I guess I can lurk for deals on PSU/HTPC case in the upcoming months.

FYI, I got this MB this past summer and was concerned about the max memory since I was seeing a discrepancy on the Gigabyte site vs. MC, so I emailed Gigabyte. They responded "78LMT-S2P board can support up to 16G 1333/1066/800DDR3 memory". I can confirm that it supports 16GB as I am running that much right now on a VM server.

saka0053 02-10-2013 07:59 AM

They have some good deals but distance just kills the deal for me, like most of you here.

effed0r3d 02-10-2013 08:01 AM

This motherboard is not suited for overclocking unless it is the 4+1 phase version of the board. I had version 3.1 (4+1 power phase) and was able to overclock a 960t to 4ghz (4x4ghz) but it took some babying. It was hard to get it stable and I had to use heatsinks for the mosfets on the motherboard because they got so hot. If you plan on getting this board do not use a 125w processor and if you plan on overclocking with this board, keep the wattage as close to 95w as possible. Unless it is the 4+1 phase I would probably just stay away all together unless you are okay with running a 95w processor at stock voltage/frequency.

The FX4100+ is a little bit of a gyp, since it behaves more like a dual-core with hyperthreading, with lower IPC than the old Phenom II.

Considering the X6 1045T can turbo up for 3.6GHz for lightly-threaded workloads, kill the FX4100+ in highly-threaded workloads and is $10 cheaper, it's hard to justify getting the FX4100+.

tkeppell 02-10-2013 07:19 PM

For HTPC use (mostly with MS Media Center and XBOX extenders), which one you all recommend? AMD or Intel i5 CPU based system?

I live by Chicago with 2 Microcenter stores and both carry Rev. 5.0 of this board. Rev. 5.0 does not support the 965. Make sure to pick the Rev. 5 on the Gigabyte site and then check on the list of supported cpus.
Or just click here: http://www.gigabyte.us/products/p...id=4125#dl
So this will support the 1045T but do not overclock.
If you want a 965 I would get this board in a combo anyway, but just sell it and put the money toward a board that will handle the 965.

p1971 02-11-2013 06:48 AM

Deal is dead.
Microcenter raised the prices on both the 965 and 1045T just now on the website. They are back to $89 each. Oh, and adding that Gigabyte board to make a bundle does not work anymore.
After the coupon fiasco last month and employees mentioning this site by name, it's obvious they are still monitoring things here.
Thanks Microcenter.

WhoBeDaPlaya 02-11-2013 06:24 PM

Glad I got in while the getting was good
Still have an online order I haven't picked up - will see if they honor it. If not, I still have the price quote from yesterday with the X6 1045T at $79.99 at least.

Edit : W00t! Score one more combo! :D
