Canon imageCLASS MF8380Cdw Wireless Network Color Laser Multifunction Printer $345.35 FS

Great Price on a great MFC with native Ethernet + WiFi + Duplexing Color Laser Printer with a good first page time for it's class.

We use the bigger versions of these at work because HP while great printers inexplicably make horrible MFp's in our experience.

decent. I've been noticing a lot of Canon MFP's going on sale in the last couple of weeks.

out with the old, in with the new perhaps

jme5343 02-10-2013 09:26 AM

I grabbed one. I've been looking for a color MFP deal for about a month. This is a good mix of everything I needed.

Thanks OP!

I own this one. VERY satisfied with it. Wireless scanning and duplex are my favorites. Quote me if you have any questions.

calxtreme 02-10-2013 12:42 PM

Are there cheap toner options for this printer?

I got one from this deal at Adorama for $289 shipped. So far I've been very happy with it.

Thanks for offering to field questions :) What do you pay for toner? Do you use OEM or aftermarket? If aftermarket, how is the accuracy of the colors?

ReRush 02-10-2013 02:07 PM

My friend LOVES this printer. I just barely bought the black/white version of this or I would totally pick this up.

you said you are happy with the duplex function. can you explain which areas it does duplex function. i am interesting in sending a two sided paper in fax without having to turn it over to scan the other side. Can you verify that it has that function. just to clear for sending part of the fax does it scan two sided paper. also can it print the incoming fax duplex tooo.

I seem to recall Buy.com running a special in the 200s some time ago, also.

burticus 02-10-2013 04:08 PM

disregard

TidalWaveOne 02-10-2013 05:33 PM

Tempting.... though some of the reviews about the user interface and manual are not good.

echostorm 02-10-2013 05:53 PM

Eek replacement toner runs $250 a set even for generic... I think I'll stick to B&W at $20 a pop

ArmchairQB 02-10-2013 06:32 PM

what is the cost per page color?

rechtien 02-10-2013 06:45 PM

I have this printer, not the most user friendly on networking. Mine seems to randomly forget where it is on the network. When it does this, since windows is not terribly smart my computers have to be retold where it is so that I can print. Frustrating, but for the price I like it. I think I paid 250ish from staples a while back when they had the small business coupons out for 50% purchase.

Yangimage 02-10-2013 07:29 PM

i have this printer and I don't like it at all. If you just do regular printing, copying, and faxing you're fine with it. But if you want to print from the side tray for example envelope or address label..it doesn't default to side tray when open like most printer. you'll have to manually configure it. Also you'll have to configure it back to bottom tray once done or it will detect side tray empty. It's just too much hassle for me.

How exactly do you like the price given you paid 100 less for it. Love it as much as you like but this is definitely NOT a good price for the printer.

Aftermarket works well. No issues. I've just used the cheapest thing I can find on amazon. Price varies. :)

wind&salsa 02-11-2013 12:04 AM

What, not compatible with MAC?

USCFanatic 02-11-2013 01:35 PM

Own this printer and very happy with it. The compatible toner works fine for me although I wouldnt suggest if you need high quality print outs.

freshlemonzest 02-11-2013 01:48 PM

Nice offer...Where can I find the best deal on after market toner?

revolutn 02-13-2013 04:21 AM

I've tried to locate the posts that show this printer being available for $200 previously, without any success.
I did find a post for a higher price for this model.
So if anyone saying they purchased this for that price point can provide a link, that'd be great.

I can say this, the D in the model make a big difference.
You can source the non duplexing MF8080 model for right around $240 currently, so with a deal / sale / coupon I could see how you might get close to $200.

As for people talking about the not user friendly setup / configuration.
I can say this much.
This is really a low end model of an enterprise class printer, not really your average consumer class MFp.

My familiarity of them from work probably makes me biased on this point, but I find it no more difficult to configure than HP MFp's and while we always deploy HP printers for dedicated print only services;

We've found HP MFp's to be very bad to manage from an IT perspective as well as poor performing for the end user community, prone to frequent problems.

I've been looking for a quality, not just cheap for cheap sake, Mfp that could handle all functions for my home. This was the best blend of reputable manufacturer and model with features for the price I've personally come across in over a year worth of keeping a casual eye out.

I've ordered one of these myself, but not yet received it.
Anyway it was my own choosing this model deal that led me to post it, I'm glad some people found it to be a good deal for them as well.

For those gripping about toner costs....well....a few things I can comment on.

The cartridges will last quite a while at about 4,000 pages and right now they run about ~$50 per on the open market individually, or ~$175 for a full replacement set of 4.
Laser printer toner is always expensive, but it will last you a long time and has a lower per page cost when compared to ink based counter parts.

Received mine the 14th and set it up this morning. No issues at all, I found the setup to be quite simple (the hardest part was carrying the dang thing to where I wanted it - it's heavy!).

From unbox to first page, it was probably 20 minutes.

Does it come with full toners and not "starter toners"?

Yup... comes with starter toner. :(

1200 for black and 1400 average yield for the color toners.

Probably would have bought it if it came with the full toners.

i am very disappointed with canon and this model, bought first one and it was DOA it kept turning on and off continuasly every 2 sec, returned it and got another one and it turned out the top tray/cover was broken.

usually canon are great and never had problems with them before, but to me it just seem like this model is really crappy, maybe thats why its on sale, or it could be i just had bad luck with them, anyone else had problems ??

UPDATE:

i decided to give it one more try and finally i got a good printer that works, after looking at other printers for the performance and price no printer other printer comes close. the printer that i got works good, i set it up wireless and it works great.
