Not sure if it comes with special offers or not. Good for those that want a new kindle with the keyboard without having to purchase it for $139-$159 from Amazon.

This is the particular model. Released in 2010, no special offers.

That said, this is an ok deal, if you want new! I've bought used 3G keyboards rated as 6 or 7 with virtually no signs of use for around $40. I see them frequently, as I have bought a few as gifts and loaded them up with books. This is $75, and no coupons will apply to DOTD.

And yes it was $189.99 retail originally! http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Amazo...Id=1277328

This is the particular model. Released in 2010, no special offers, but not e-ink pearl either. The pearl is the second gen, higher contrast on devices that came out in later versions.

Actually there is E-ink pearl in this one. This is the 3rd generation kindle. I know because I own one. Nice to know that it frequently comes up for $40 too!

So yeah I had to refresh my memory and this particular model is the "first" iteration of the third generation Kindles, and they used pearl, it had just come out at that time in 2010. I remember the weird naming scheme they had now, the Kindle keyboard was/is referred to as the Kindle 3.

Usually the Kindles that come up at $40-$45ish are this one, the D00901, which is the current model. http://www.cowboom.com/product/903010

Paperwhite IS pretty nice, but I bought my parents the $40 Kindle keyboard 3Gs for their cruise, along with the OEM Amazon lighted leather case. I saved a lot of money and they didn't really care that much, they have iPads anyway it's just for reading because e-ink is easier on the eyes than an LCD. A light is really a must with this one, but you can get the black lighted case on Amazon or eBay "open box" for $20-$30. Or just a clip-on for $10.

I got this for 99 + tax on clearance at Target last year, no special offer model. This is pretty cheap if it's new. But not sure about return policy on these if something goes wrong?

Is there? Because I couldn't find anything in the listing per the Amazon SKU. The ones that have the pearl usually state it and I didn't see anything but if that's true I stand corrected.

Yeah I think it's the same as there has been only one kindle keyboard model(3g vs only wifi). Yahoo answer confirms it.:lmao:

Wifi only, but the D00901 model (current iteration) for $40.23 plus tax. Try SNAKE2013 if you're ordering over $88 too if that is still valid.
