They have an open-box one at Tustin, CA for $548.96.

They also have a Samsung for $599.99.

Basically the same specs as this, but 750 GB HD and Bluetooth. Maybe if you gave the manager crap, you could get them to knock off $75.

It's OOS for online purchases.

It is available at B&M locations. You will need to use the Inventory Checker provided in the OP to see what stores potentially have it available.

If limit pushed $25 more then may need to consider my earlier post.

I don't think it's worth $125 more for 8 GB of RAM (instead of 6 GB), 750 GB HD (instead of 640 GB), and Bluetooth.

The price of those upgrades just don't justify it.

Not that the L855-S5378 you posted isn't a decent deal in it's own right... but if you can find this one on clearance somewhere, you could easily exceed those specs for $125.

1 TB 2.5 Inch HDs have been as low as $64.
16 GB of DDR3 Memory has been as low as $50.
Bluetooth, you could add a dongle for $1 (Meritline).

earlrod 02-11-2013 06:17 AM

Got this yesterday for $499 less 10% (open-box like new) plus $75 coupon, total $375. Very nice laptop if available.

That's for the desktop i7 CPUs, which are for example 3.4GHz (3.9 w/ boost).

These laptop i7's don't cost that much and don't compare in performance. They are 2.4GHz (3.4 w/ boost).

not according to wiki [wikipedia.org]

$378

this is a mid range IB i7, good price

FYI, this cpu does not support VT-d [wikipedia.org]

IC seems hosed

JuJu83 02-11-2013 07:08 AM

I bought this laptop last week without any $ off coupon. I will try to do a return/rebuy (am wondering they will let me do it!)

This clearance model is nearly the same as the new one ($649.99). If you could get this clearance model with $75 off, it will be a very good deal for a i7 laptop.

enovah 02-11-2013 07:11 AM

The benchmarks for the cpu don't seem all that great, but if you can get it for ~450 I think it's a pretty good deal. At least better than some of the leveno i3's that have been selling for ~380.

Not that great compare with what mobile processor? AMD? i3, i5?

- Backlit keyboard?
- weight ? (it says starting at 5.5lbs 0 just not sure).

Mobile CPUs are always more expensive than desktop. The tray price of this one is $378. However, it can be found now on ebay for $250. The prices went down since last time i checked.

$378 based on what? I don't see any store selling the processor for that price anywhere. They can tack on any price they want to on there. But the fact is, it's a 2.4GHz chipset not a 3.4GHz chipset which the OP misleadingly wrote. The desktop i7's, however, are closer to 3.4GHz.

djsvetljo 02-11-2013 07:43 AM

$378 is the tray price. If you don't know what a tray price is, stay quiet

Some basic math:
$250 for the i7
$50 for the HDD
$25 ram
$50 for the lcd pannel
$50 for windows licence
(guessed prices what OEM payed)
and we are already at the sale price.
not to mention, case, battery, motherboard, optical drive, power supply, touchpad, keyboard, packaging, labor, transportation. Toshiba looses, we win.

culdeus 02-11-2013 07:45 AM

Is it my imagination or is the touch pad way off to the left side? Is that normal?

They probably pay 1/2 those prices (other components, not the i7). Also, Toshiba does make their own HDD's (not 100% sure they use one in this particular model) so the cost for the HDD would be a lot less.

You are right about the HDD. Probably $30 and may be $40 for the LCD.
Still, they sell without profit or may be staples is the looser?

It is normal for laptops with number pads on the right. (The trackpad is centered on the regular keyboard.) I am not a big fan of number pads on laptops for this reason (though I know a ton of people find them invaluable).

Oh, shut up.

3.4 GHz with Turbo Boost is the max speed. There, are you happy?

You act like I'm intentionally misleading people and have a vested interest in selling this computer.

No shit its going to have a low-end clock speed that ramps up depending on what tasks you're doing... if it was running at 3.4 GHz all the time the battery would be drained in no time. Obviously a mobile processor isn't going to come close to yielding the benchmarks and performance of a desktop, unless you're comparing an i7 Extreme Edition Mobile CPU, in which case, you basically have a laptop with no battery life that's a desktop replacement. So talking about desktop clock speeds in relation to a mobile processor is nonsense.

Whether or not the processor costs $378, its still a pretty good deal at $450 when you factor in all the component costs.
Processor: $260 to $280
HD: $50
Memory: $25 to $30
DVD Drive: $25

You're already at about $360 to $400 in parts and that's not even factoring in the cost of the MOBO, Speakers, Display, Wireless, Operating System License, etc.

Haha, no. Desktop >> Laptop. The cpu may appear remotely comparable, but the video cards are not even close.
I have a radeon hd 6870, not even remotely a new card. Compare it to the card in this laptop

I didn't think you were intentionally misleading people. But the fact that you are aware of it now and are still not changing it to 2.4 GHz makes me think otherwise.

There, clock speed is forever removed. You can explain to everyone what clock speed it is and what turbo boost is and all the fun stuff, because clearly you are the resident SD Intel expert. The wiki is your playground. Have at it! ;)

Yeah, thanks for adding that link mikmaze. I knew about the Comcast Inventory Checker, I just didn't choose that one because sd.site88.net is what people usually use here. It was working at the time I posted, but now that its down, I figured I'd edit the OP to add the Comcast one. Repped for your contributions!

nikets01 02-11-2013 08:51 AM

just picked 1 up. Dissambling . Will update inside components. Replacing the HDD with a 256 GB Vertex 3, 8GB Samsung 30nm DDR3 and Intel Centrino Ultimate 6300. BTW the sd.site88.net is very accurate. Show "low stock clearance" at my store, went to pick up and pay, check back with that site when i'm out to the parking lot and it already show OOS

EDIT: Inside has a Toshiba 640GB 5400rmp drive, 4GB Kingston 1600MHz cas 11 stick + 2GB Samsung 1600 MHz cas 11 stick, Wireless device is RTL8188CE.
EDIT2 : No backlit keyboard, 2x USB 3.0, 1x USB 2.0, Gigabit LAN. And yes I was able to switch the wireless adapter and it works flawlessly in dual band.
For those of you want to downgrade to Windows 7 clean boot with a USB stick, you have to disable "Secure Boot" in BIOS (Press F2 to access BIOS) and change "UEFI mode" to "CSM mode(above this it should change to AHCI)" to be able to see the USB

I saw they had an i5 for $50 less due to mail in rebate. L855 S5370. Basically the same I believe, except for 750 HD and i5. Don't know if anyone would be interested in that, if they can't locate this one.

:thanks: yeah my only concern is the tax so i would come out with negative earnings on the sale. recycling fees and tax on a 575 laptop would be greater than 600 so i would have to revise my quote i guess, I dont want to sound like an indecisive person and all. whatever i can replicate. if i have to jump through hoops i will but the main thing is to give and deliver. not say yeah i can get you the laptops and then be like woooopsie they sold out cuz someone else got them all. haha either way specs they want is 15" wifi g or n 500gb hdd i7 cpu and 4gb of ram. im sure theres other stuff floating around the pike

So you swapped out the wireless card to the intel Centrino, that laptop should now be able to do WiDi correct?

Let me know if you were able to replace the wireless card to the intel Centrino, looking to do the same to take advantage of the WiDi feature.

I had only 1 antenna, which was weird, but I had bought another toshiba (C855D) which is a close relative, also had 1 antenna. So I guess this is how they designed it. I put the antenna in pin #1 of the Centrino 6300 (which has 3 pins for 3 antennas). I was afraid it would not recognize the 5 GHz band of my ASUS RT-N66U, but it did. However, it connects at 150-180Mbps whereas my desktop with a 3 antennas adapter connects at 365-450Mbps (450 is max). Most laptop has 2 antennas and my guess is that they would connect at 180-300Mbps , laptops with 3 antennas are extremely rare.

I knew Toshiba would cut cost somewhere, I have a few old laptops, let me take those antennas and try to place them in any empty spot I see.

Debating on this (and several others) as I am in need of a new laptop. Looking at the i7 Toshiba w/ 8 GB RAM for $650 this week at Staples (plus the $75 off coupon) or the $750 Samsung (plus coupon) as well.

Need one soon, as my i3 4 GB RAM is really starting to glitch out on me after close to 4 years.

Unless either the more expensive Toshiba have a dedicated video card or the Samsung, I dont see why you are debating. You could easily save $100+ going with this clearance. Oh yeah, this 3rd gen i7 will eat your 1st gen i3 for breakfast. :)

Need one soon, as my i3 4 GB RAM is really starting to glitch out on me after close to 4 years.

8GB is about 25-30 bucks. Save the difference and put in a SSD, buy an enclosure and use the internal as external

Larger screen, better resolution, etc. on the Samsung. I believe the other Toshiba does have a dedicated video card. I will probably end up with this 6 GB Toshiba, but kind of don't want to screw around with upgrades on it if I come to regret not getting the 8 GB and other "niceties".

This, of course, is all pending when Staples finally posts rewards and if they are accurate (which, in my case, hasn't been once since I have been a Rewards member).

I'm looking for a 13.3 inch screen notebook (not ultrabook, I want a optical drive). Seems like my only current choices are Sony S series or a Mac. Asus and other manufacturers have 13.3 notebooks but they're outdated. Any suggestions? The Sony S Series mousepad is ridiculously big which interferes with typing (plus their keyboard isn't sensitive enough). And I'm not sure if I want to jump to a Mac.

Not really. I mean it can technically but won't do it very well. HD 4000 graphics are great for low to mid graphic games and for games that do not require a lot of video processing. Otherwise, you'd have to lower settings to Low and it then would be challenging for more high end games like Crysis 2, BF3, etc, etc.

I could not tell you about backlit keyboard. No manuals or user guides to read, nor anything details from the specs. My guess is No.
Weight is starting at 5.5 lbs but if you get an upgrade to the battery, for example, it will weigh more.

IIRC, Low Stock means they still have at least one, although it may be open box/display. Once that's gone, the stock updates to "Not sold at this location". Worth a try, but I'd go to the store instead of calling. If open box/ display, they may be able to knock off another 10% off the price.

True. But I was telling him what they would tell him when he calls and the associate finds out the last stage nationwide clearance price in the system. ;)

oOoMANDYoOo 02-11-2013 12:37 PM

Three stores that said "Not sold at this location" actually had them in my area, so you can't solely go by what the inventory checker says. One of the stores had 8 of them even though website said 0.

they just need the code from the coupon, but I have been to stores where they told me to bring the coupon next time or they won't accept the code, so YMMV.

It did expire but they honored it since it was up on their "computer deal" board when you walk in. I think they just wanted to move it since they had one sealed and one display unit left.

hadji213 02-11-2013 04:00 PM

I was able to buy one at the fourth store I visited. The lady in front of me at the third store bought the last two they had. I walked by her in the parking lot when she was loading her car and she must have had 7-8 of these in her back seat. This will be a great upgrade from my 6-year old Dell XPS M140. Thanks OP.

EasyGuy 02-11-2013 04:11 PM

Bought one earlier today for $466 tax included, but just now bought a Lenovo i7 with GT650M video card for $588 from Lenovo outlet, thinking about returning the Staples one. The Lenovo already has Intel Centrino wireless so I no longer have to replace the wireless card.

Keep in mind folks, I was on Lenovo the whole morning refreshing to get that deal, so it is not that easy.

I can get Staples GCs at 20% off face, so I paid $400 for a $500 gift card and got this and had a ~$20 remaining balance. Picked up a case of paper with the remaining balance plus $6 (that will yield a $20 GC). So for $400 + $6, I got the laptop, a case of paper and a $20 gift card.

There has been people reporting the battery doesnt hold charge (0%). This is due to Toshiba installed the battery to the laptop instead of let us install ourself like other manufacture therefore depleted it.
Follow these step:
1. Shut down (not sleep, hibernate or restart) your computer with the battery installed and plugged in power adapter.
2. Remove the power adapter then remove the battery.
3. Plug back the adapter in and power on without the battery.
4. When it's on, shut down (not sleep, hibernate or restart) the computer while plugged in.
5. While plugged in and the computer is shut, install the battery, then power on.
6. Let it charge for about 1-2 hours, then you should see the battery charge % goes up.
7. If it is still at 0% after all these steps, you qualify for a battery replacement.

Staples only has 4 pictures. The Toshiba site has like 14, and from a bunch of different angles.

I seriously doubt someone is going to snap some "real life" pictures for you, unless you're bribing them. :lmao:

If you want to get a feel for the laptop, step into any MicroCenter, Office Depot or Best Buy and I'm sure they'll have at least one Satellite L855 model on display. They all pretty much have the same styling.

I don't really think you can go wrong at $450 for the specs this system has. Unless the i5 Thinkpad has dedicated graphics, it's really a no brainer.

Even budget i7 laptops rarely go below $500. Comparable models are usually about $600 to $650 on sale.

So I recently purchased an X230t(outdoor screen though, so no multitouch) for $525 w/ i5-3320M and an E530 for $360 fully loaded with i5-3210M, and then this one pops up, which do I choose? All with Integrated HD4000. Then this pops up, which would put me into another category with quad-core.

If you already bought the other models, are you contemplating returning one?

How many are you ending up keeping?

The X230T looks like its got a pretty high MSRP, so if you got it for $525, that seems like a pretty good deal relative to that. But, it only has a 12.5 inch screen?

PCMag gives the X230T pretty favorable reviews.... but I would have a hard time spending that much for such a small screen.

If it was me, I'd stick with the Toshiba w/ the i7, maybe upgrade the RAM and HD, and a budget i5 in the $300 range just for basic usage. But, of course, everyone's needs are different.

I will end up keeping one, and contemplating selling them... The nice feature of the X230t, it that it is a portable tablet as well, I can write on it with the pen. And then with the E530, it is a cheap laptop given the specs and all.

The big factor is build quality as well, Thinkpads are built tough and last a long time imo. IDK about this one, but the i7 is what is pushing me towards it at this price.

My E530 is coming in tomorrow, or well I have to go pick it up, so we will see how it is.

Personally I've never understood the fascination with Lenovos. They make the FP a lot, but I prefer Asus, HP, Dell, Samsung, etc. over Lenovo's just because their styling is so blahhh. It's clear their focus is more for business rather than consumer products. But like you said, they do seem to have pretty good reliability over the long-term.

As far as this Toshiba goes, you either love it or hate it and think its cheap and plastic-y. It's got a textured design which doesn't appeal to everyone. But, I have family members who have Toshiba laptops that have lasted 4 or 5 years... so if you take care of your system I'm sure it can last.

The first thing I always look at is the specs and price, and then I start to worry about the intangibles. For $450, it's pretty hard to go wrong given what it has.

That's why I want to see some real-life pics, the thing is I will be having my family pick it up for me, as I am up here on campus at school. And I have none of these places near me.

If I could post pics for you, I would. Unfortunately, I don't even have a Staples near me... so I wasn't even able to get in on this deal (not that I need another laptop).

I just saw that this was on clearance, and the $75 off coupon didn't prohibit clearance laptops... so I figured it would be a pretty good deal. I understand your predicament though.

Got the last one at the closest staples near my place. I was comtemplating between getting this or the 11.6 inch asus touch screen laptop. Needed a laptop for school and just general use. This toshiba should do the work right? haha.

This is the asus one for $425. http://slickdeals.net/f/5850432-A...ook-425-AC

Which one would be better for school? The asus one is much lighter but the toshiba one has better specs?

If I recall correctly, they had an old clearance price tag up (pre-coupon), they honored the old price + coupon in his case.

You can just post the links to them, so upload through imageshack or some other service and just post the direct links here.

Nah man, dont worry about it, I did the same stuff when I was younger. I still got bits of it with me too, look at my sig. and stuff...

Actually did you get any pics of the sides? I really want to see how thick it is and such, but so far so good. I will probably pick one up tomorrow.

Sorry didnt take any side pics. Maybe I'll do it later, I'm trying to get it to charge. I don't like windows 8...dont like how it display all these apps and stuff.

$50?? They told me $115. I initially declined, but am going back to add it on - they said you can do it within 14 days. Would much rather have it at $50 though!

I like having the security of the extra warranty, but it really is a personal preference. My HP's screen literally blew apart spontaneously while I was using it, and of course it was right after the HP warranty ran out. So, for me, yes I think it's worth it because you never know what could happen.

No, it's not. I think it's rather thin. Not as thin as an Envy, which feels too delicate IMO, but it's fairly thin.

It is very hard to tell from a pic like that. . Maybe try measuring the thickness of what you're comparing and then I can give you a better answer.
It's less than 1.5"
Specs say 1.31" is thickest. It lists 1.14"/1.31."
So you will have to go from that.

The toshiba looks thinner than that. Mandy you are getting the 2 year extended warranty? I don't know if I want to get it or not. Also do you a problem with your laptop charging too?

Just buy with an Amex or specific Visa and you get an extra yr. warranty on it...

Yes, I am going to take my receipt back and add it on.
I don't know of any problems because I didn't set it up yet. I can let you know tomorrow.

I paid with debit card, so no extra warranty from CC, for me.

Nah, I'll just buy the warranty. Not that big of a deal. I'd rather have the extra 2 years than 1 year, if that's what Visa gives. My luck is horrid, no matter what I do, I am sure the laptop will die whenever whatever warranty ends anyway.

Even some Mastercard Debit Cards have Extended Warranty benefits now.

I just got a new Mastercard Debit Card from my bank the other day and it said one of the new benefits is extended warranty coverage. I guess they are competing w/ Discover & AMEX.
MORE INFO [mastercard.us]

It says to call 1-800-MC-ASSIST or contact your financial institution to find out your benefits.

Discover just added their extended coverage this past Nov. or so as well. Amex was one of the first and still the best I am assuming, and then Visa followed, then the others. All my CCs offer it.

I paid with a debit card too. I don't think I want to purchase the 2 year warranty for $115. Hopefully this laptop treats me better than my last hp laptop which was a piece of s***. On another note I finally got the battery to charge. I was really thinking about returning it and getting the Asus 11.6 inch laptop for 425 but I think ill stick to this.

I didn't read the pamphlet, so I can't say all the specifics, but the guy said "The first year while manufacturer warranty is in effect, it will cover everything that manufacturer won't, and then for the following 2 years, it covers everything."

What "everything" is, I am not sure. But considering how my screen blew apart on my HP and then had a fan die after 2 years, I am willing to pay for the warranty this time, just in case. 3 years is a long time...

brac 02-12-2013 06:05 AM

Since this is clearance they can sell the display. I sent the wife over thinking they only had the display but they handed her a sealed box! Sweet deal! Repped

matt98svt 02-12-2013 07:12 AM

I purchased one of these about two weeks ago when it was listed in the sales ad. When i went to the staples store they didnt have any on display, or even a display spot for them, so i asked the salesperson and they had 9 of them in the back..that was in Greenville SC. Orderd a samsung SSD for it already. Ordered a mini bluetooth dongle for $15 from amazon that works well with windows 8. A keyboard cover too that hasnt come yet and a bluetooth mouse. Im wanting to upgrade the RAM from the 6gb to either 8gb or 16gb but the factory memory is 1.35v and most of what im seeing out there is 1.5v....the 1.35 chips seem to bring a premium. any issue with running 1.5v RAM in this machine? Overall im very pleased. I see people commenting on the weight. Its no ultrabook..but it in my opinon it is very thin and light. From looking at benchmarks, this 3630qm I7 processor looks to trump a good deal of the other I7 laptop processors I was looking at before I bought this laptop. I was worried about the integrated intel HD4000 graphics and 720p screen as well. I dont play any games so that was not a concern for me. From what I read thought the HD4000 graphics is better than a good number of the entry level graphics cards that come in some of the entry-mid level laptops. I am a hobby photographer and out of photoshop images are very crisp and sharp. I would love to know more about the wifi upgrade some people were talking about earlier in the thread and welcome any input on what type of RAM i should consider for this machine

In my store, I was told that they cannot sell the display even though it is in clearance. The laptop has to go out of their system for them to sell the display model.

I don't know if it is true or not but that was what I was told!

Got the last one in the west marietta, ga store. New in box, didn't have it on display.
The ponce de leon location has one left still.

Was thinking about getting a 2 year warranty with squaretrade, shows up as $99, with a coupon code should be able to bring that down 30 or 40%?

They send you offers in email occasionally, one time use. Seems like once you've bought a warranty from them you're on their mailing list.

bluestar51 02-12-2013 10:40 AM

Thank you, Korith.

And thank you OP for posting this (TUd and Rep'd). Picked one up this morning in Greenfield MA. One more left there. Charging it up now, hope no battery issues. Declined the $115 two-year basic (no accidental coverage) warranty, but mighty tempting. Still have time to change mind.

Thanks to all the SDers who've been posting in this thread - I've been getting so bogged down in researching laptops for last few weeks, this thread made for a relatively easy decision.

Now I just need to learn how to use Windows 8. There must be some free video tutorials online.

Mine started to charge after being plugged in for 4 hours. I think that battery was just so dead that it had a hard time getting to the point to start safely charging. I'd read about others cleaning the terminals or resetting but I think it all just came down to time. Toshiba gives you the option to get a replacement which I'll do if the battery life isn't up to spec.

ZLeathal1 02-12-2013 10:57 AM

I ended up getting this, plus the $275 desktop in another deal. My desktop has been dead for awhile, and I've wanted to build a HTPC--this is good enough for that purpose. Laptop started a slow death months ago--6 years old, it was time to replace it. Thanks OP!

Yes, mine is like that too. My thought was that this feature results in a constant drain on the battery which is why these batteries are flat dead out of the box. I hope this feature can be turned off.

Just picked the last unit up in Burien, WA.

$527.50
- $40 (additional clearance discount)
- $75 coupon
= $412.50.

Very slick deal IMO.

So far my battery seems to be charging up properly. Very happy I declined Staples' extended warranty offer, as I may get one from SquareTrade. Apparently they will be posting an attractive coupon offer tomorrow on their facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/SquareTrade), but it seems you have to 'like' them and give over your email address in order to access their page, which I did.

They seem to be less expensive than Staples, and it appears that accidental coverage is included by default. Don't know all the details yet, but definitely am considering. Will see what they post tomorrow.

Great info, Matt, thank you! Once the laptop is charged up, I'll have to figure out where the Toshiba Reader App is.

- $40 (additional clearance discount)
- $75 coupon
= $412.50.

Very slick deal IMO.

Where are you getting additional clearance discount of $40?

The Staples store that I went to had an additional $40 instant rebate on this clearance item. It was an actual Staple's sign that was sitting next to the laptop in the back. I am not sure if it is every store, but it definitely made this deal slicker.

Thanks. I may try to get that applied to the two I bought.

I just finished building a desktop 970A-G46 with FX 4100 processor overclocked to 4.2ghz, 8gb RAM. Now I'm wondering if I should just use this Toshiba as a desktop with external monitor, keyboard and mouse. No gaming so it should be fine.

Any comments on this move?

So far my battery seems to be charging up properly. Very happy I declined Staples' extended warranty offer, as I may get one from SquareTrade. Apparently they will be posting an attractive coupon offer tomorrow on their facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/SquareTrade), but it seems you have to 'like' them and give over your email address in order to access their page, which I did.

They seem to be less expensive than Staples, and it appears that accidental coverage is included by default. Don't know all the details yet, but definitely am considering. Will see what they post tomorrow.

Let me know when you figure it out. Price and everything. Thanks.

Well after finding out that this laptop only comes with one antenna, the prospect of getting 450Mbps is no longer a reality. So what is left is if you want a better reception or/and want WiDi capability. (Intel Centrino)

Nah, I'll just buy the warranty. Not that big of a deal. I'd rather have the extra 2 years than 1 year, if that's what Visa gives. My luck is horrid, no matter what I do, I am sure the laptop will die whenever whatever warranty ends anyway.

You can buy additional warranty through Visa at a better price, so after two years you can buy two or three more years.

Had to do take battery out, start it, shut down, put battery back in, to get it to start charging, took a few attempts. To make the function keys work like normal, you can change the setting in system settings - keyboard - function keys mode, and put back into standard mode. Took a while to remove the bloatware. No issues with touchpad. The 2 small hinges for the monitor are a bit of a worry, hope they hold up over time. Would have been nice if the earphone jack was a bit further back on the side, it's located right on the side by the corner.
With the stock ram and hard drive here are the windows experience scores: processor 7.8, memory 7.8, graphics 5.9, gaming graphics 6.5, hard drive 5.9, overall score 5.9.

Definitely worth the price.

I agree about the hinges.

Touchpad is driving me insane though. I've been through all of the mouse/pointer opts and cant seem to get it right. It skips and sticks and not all taps to click register. Also, when tapping to click, it will jump most times instead of clicking where I want it to.

Was this a brand new unit or display unit? So it rang up at $487.50 before you handed the $75 coupon correct?

Let us know if you get the additional $40 off. Maybe it is a additional discount that went into effect today.

very nice deal. Recently got Asus laptop for $500 w/ windows 7. I even paid windows 8 upgrade (no judgement!). This is definitely sweet deal.

You want to compare the Toshoba: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.p...40+2.40GHz

To the Samsung: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.p...2-1800+APU

Also, the Lenovo is a step up from the Samsung.
