Flash shines with reads, not writes.

I have one of these, as well as two 256 ssd's and several 128gb ssds, all crucial M4. had pretty good luck so far. firmware updates are simple enough to do if necessary, but newer drives come fully up-to-date usually.

Just saw this in my email. Great deal on this drive!

Random 4k read/write is more important than sustainable max speeds.

Either way, any recent SSD from 2011+ is way faster than traditional HD.

I got this a while back and it's fast and zippy for my MacBook Pro 2010, but it likes to crash from time to time (maybe once every 2 weeks) and I had to use a previous firmware because the latest fw was causing an endless beachball bug.

I plan to put this in my 2010 macbook pro. Hopefully, I don't have the same problem but just in case, which firmware did you use?

I got this hard drive in an similar deal posted on SD about 6 months ago. So far i have been pretty happy with it. I have seem a dramatic performance boost when launching programs (they come up almost instantly now) and my boot times (seriously its about 15 seconds compared to 40 or so seconds with my old 7200 rpm hard drive). I have noticed a decrease in max benchmark speeds as when i initially bought that ssd and now (initial was about 350, now its 270) granted the prior was on a clean os, so i dont know what impact it has had on it). No crashes so far, im happy about that because i have heard some sketchy stories about this drive crashing their machines.

Overall. . . would i recommend this drive for this price, yes.

What are my concerns? The degradation of the drive over time.
