Does this mean the 'Speak English' movement is dead?

Was there ever a movement? I mean, really???

No, it means the "politicians will say whatever gets them votes" movement is alive and well.

The Spanish portion of his speech was already leaked. Here's a translation:

"Psst! Hey, don't tell the white people, but I'm only pretending to be one of them. Shh!! It's just a ruse to get me elected to the White House, then we'll make Cinco de Mayo a National Holiday and we'll make their lazy kids wash OUR cars instead. So hang with me, ok?"

This has to have a lot of Democrats feeling a little queasy. :D Will their efforts to legalize presumptive Democrat voters backfire? Did they simply create a bunch of Rubio voters?

Why not? No problem with it. As long as he read the response in English first.
We have a large chunk of Spanish speaking population and a few major national TV networks broadcasting in Spanish.

I think it's comical how the Right is putting so much stock in Rubio. They've spent so much time in their WASP bubble that they don't understand that the largest groups in the Hispanic community (Mexicans, Central Americans) view Cubans and Puerto Ricans as outsiders. The reason is because Cubans/Puerto Ricans never had to work hard to get to where they are, unlike the rest of the Hispanic community.

Marco Rubio is more of substitute teacher, I was reading several forums including this one Hannity also and about 20 different GOP Twitter accounts I follow on my PC as a temperature guage of what they are doing.

Rubio was dud, little to no hype or excitement. Why ? I can speculate a little here

#1. Latino, racism in the old dog base of the republicans does not like hispanics period, not gonna really fire up the good ole boys in the south either.
#2. In experienced don't get me wrong he will make a presidential run, to try and sway some hispanic voters to the GOP but its an assured failure.
#3. Chris Christie and Bob Mcdonnell of Virginia look way better.

Make no mistake, Rubio will run for President it will just take 3 years for him to prep get some votes in the senate he is already the GOP's immigration poster boy (duh)

But the main GOP strategy is to push Rubio and later Jeb Bush to refresh their brand in FL and hopefully retake FL as a red state (Blue in 08 and 12)

and the main candidate will like be Bob McDonnell of VA in hopes he will turn VA Red again.

With all the redistricting, and FL VA and OH in play the GOP and not to be dismissed. Then again HIllary in 2016 is a guranteed win.

So good try good effort GOP but this is over before it even starts.

If this was a recording, I don't understand why he didn't go through several iterations and pick the best one instead of delivering something that looked like he was nervous and inexperienced.

arguably the most successful Sec of State ever. More experienced than any GOP contender that will be thrown at her. Shes got all the popularity and hype that Obama had in 08 plus a boat load of serious world wide connections and forgein policy experience.

If you want to start doing some math as far how a demographic vote will break down for her. 2016 will be a slaughter for the GOP.

I just don't think that's true. Obama proved experience doesn't matter and people don't like the establishment politicians.

A Chris Christie/Kelly Ayotte ticket looks pretty strong IMO.

You want to tell me the last time nominating the person that got second in the last primary worked? I know these are all republican examples but the trend is still there. The Democrats have actually been smart enough to not run their losers in the next election.

GW Bush did not run in the 1996 Primary
Obama did not run in the 2004 Primary
Clinton did not run in the 1988 Primary
GHW Bush was VP
Reagan did not run in the 1976 Primary
Carter did not run in the 1972 Primary

do you remember the attack McCain took over his age.. people were worried he was to old. He was about 71 at the time. Next Election Hillary Clinton will be 68.

In an incredibly liberal state though Chris Christie has a record approval rating. He doesn't remind people of a politician.. And in general the public dislikes politicians..especially typical seasoned career politicians.

Point being if your friends/children/relatives die.. it makes no difference why.. it's all about not allowing it to happen again. Which would be virtually impossible because you don't know why.

I think I recall some politicians pushing for a declaration of an official language, but no government official has the power to compel you to speak a certain language, as far as I'm aware.
